WE MEET AGAIN

genre. fluff. warnings. kissing. they kinda diss a person together lol. pairing. jinmichae/dried squid fairy x fem!reader. wc. 1k. request. no. a/n. was i the only one who didn't know he had a name... 🧍‍♀️ i know jinmichae = dried squid fairy but still i just didn't know 🧍‍♀️

The thing Jinmichae hated the most about story hopping is fitting into his role without struggle. From a prince to the school’s dried squid chef to a college professor. And now he was in this world where he was a… bodyguard? A bodyguard to whom? He hadn’t quite figured it out. The story had only just started. He presumed he was a side character again, and the thought came with a heavy sigh. When would he ever get his chance to love on the stage as well?

There was nothing he could do about his role or his fate to stick as a side character, for that matter. The writer did whatever the writer deemed best with little regard for the characters who obtained consciousness. Jinmichae had always been the first to do so. Maybe that was his fate instead. Being painfully aware of everything going on without being able to do anything about it. 

There was one thing he did like about story hopping, though. If he was lucky enough, he would stumble across you as the story progressed. He liked to see what role the writer put you in this time. Jinmichae was at least thankful that both him and you were centre characters to be included every time. At least you still existed.

He hadn’t found you yet, though. He hadn’t had much chance. He was currently having all these thoughts while at a… conference? Meeting? Of sorts? The room was filled with dozens of other men dressed in similar suits to his, each with walkie-talkies and earpieces. At least the costume design was pleasing.

The stage ended quickly and Jinmichae was free to walk around and investigate this new world a bit. That’s the lie he told himself every time. “Investigate the new world”, what that really meant was look for you. Sometimes he would laugh at the role you were given if it didn’t suit your personality, sometimes he would just be in awe. Sometimes he just missed you a lot and didn’t even care. 

With quick steps around the building he was in, he figured it was some sort of company or corporation. There were many meeting rooms and lobby areas filled scarcely with prettily dressed people. He approached the front desk to ask if there was a library in the building. With newfound directions, Jinmichae made his way up a spiralling staircase and into a quiet (and enormous) mahogany designed library. It took up the entire 4th floor of this corporate building. 

“It’ll take forever to find it…” He let out a soft sigh, anticipating his search that would take hours just to find the comic book for this world.

“I wouldn’t say that.”

He turned immediately at the sound of your voice, finding you standing right behind him, comic book already in hand, a lazy smile splayed on your lips. He laughed astonishingly at how easily you had snuck up on him, and how you had already managed to find the book.

“Let me see the character list.” He murmured, walking to you, arm wrapping around your shoulder naturally. You relaxed into his touch, smelling the faint citrusy scent.

“She gave you a new cologne, huh?” You remarked, flipping open the book to the first page. Jinmichae only hummed, eyes flicking over the drawings of the characters.

“Looks like you’ve got the main role.” He whispered a little teasingly, “A rich heiress to the most successful company in South Korea? No wonder there’s so many bodyguards downstairs.”

“Wasn’t my idea.” You giggled, trying to find his character among the list. “Damn, not even a name. You’re just ‘bodyguard’.” You wheezed.

“Maybe I won’t have that many scenes, then.” He seemed at ease with it, both arms now wrapped around you, hugging you comfortably.

“Nice for you. Ugh, but look at my love interest. This just won’t do.” You scoffed, looking over the profile of the character. A wanted criminal, arms adorned with tattoos all the way up to his neck and too many piercings to count. You glanced back at Jinmichae to see his eyebrows furrowed in distaste. 

“He probably smells like cigarettes.” He quipped, grip tightening on you slightly.

“Wouldn’t doubt it.” You sighed, turning around in his arms so you were now facing him, “When will the author ever realise that my type is not a walking colouring book. He really looks quite disgusting.” You fake gagged, making Jinmichae chuckle.

“Who is your type then?” He asked with fake curiosity, already knowing the answer better than anyone else.

“Hm… I do know of this blond guy, he used to smell like cedarwood, but apparently it's more orangey now. Anyway, he’s very fond of dried squid, and you know, so am I. Really a match made in heaven, if you asked me.” You rambled, humouring him. The longer you went on with the description, the harder it was for Jinmichae to keep a straight face, and eventually, he let out a laugh.

You glanced back at the drawing of your love interest one more time, scoffing again. “I’ll probably throw up if there’s a kiss scene.” You said, the chances not that low.

“If there is a kiss scene, I’ll come find you.”

“What for?” You looked back at him, adoring the way his eyes seemed to only want to look at you.

“To get his cigarette taste off your lips, of course.” He smiled and you grinned cheekily.

“You’re only a nameless bodyguard, though. Are you sure you have the power to do such a feat?” You liked teasing him, maybe a little too much.

“Shall I show you just how capable I am?” He suggested smoothly.

“We’re in a library.” You deadpanned.

Jinmichae’s eyes flicked over the very empty room, “An empty library.”

“At least get behind a bookshelf or something, we’re still in the entrance.” You said, already grabbing his wrist to lead him somewhere a bit more secluded. “Is it scandalous for an heiress to kiss her bodyguard?” You wondered aloud, your hand already travelling up to the base of his hair, fingers sliding through it softly.

“Not sure I’m the right person to ask.” He responded, lips finding yours a second later. 

If it was truly scandalous, neither of you really cared.

The moment Regulus sees your tiny body plummet to the water, his heart stops. He had not been expecting you to fly over the lake while he was skipping stones, but the splash from one of the particularly heavy ones he'd chosen doused your wings, and you'd fallen instantly.

He rushes in without a second thought, but he's glad you're in shallow waters, because he can't swim.

He scoops your tiny, trembling form off of the surface of the water where you'd been trying to float. Your wings are soaked through, pathetically droopy, and you give a feeble cough as he totes you back to shore.

"I'm sorry," He rushes to apologize, the legs of his trousers wet as he sits back on the grass. He has a hard time finding his wand in the tall grass by the lake, but once he does a drying spell is tumbling from his lips, and you're devoid of all lake water.

You're still weak with your adrenaline crash when you sit up in his palm, looking disoriented and defeated as you stare warily up at him.

"I'm sorry," He repeats, dark eyes oozing with sympathy, "I didn't mean to hit you. Are you okay?"

"I'm dry," You marvel, glancing at his wand, "Thank you."

"Don't mention it." He shakes his head, "You're not hurt, are you?"

"I don't think so," You muse, wobbling to your feet as Regulus tries keeping his hand as steady as possible. You lurch sideways at an involuntary tremor, and he juts his thumb out so that you can grab it for stability.

"Sorry," He moves to put you down in the grass, but you cling to his thumb like a lifeline.

"You have pretty hair," You muse, walking up his arm like a tightrope as your wings drop golden dust from their glittering surface, "Can I fix it for you?"

"Uh," Regulus blanches as you flutter beside his head, miniscule fingers combing through his individual strands of hair, "Um, I suppose? What are you going to do?"

"I'll braid it like mine," You offer, turning your head so that Regulus can see a small, fragile braid running up the side of your bun.

"Alright," He nods slowly, then, "What were you doing over the lake?"

"I wanted to say hi to the fish," You explain, fingers already grouping and twisting his hair, "They're my friends."

"That's cool." Regulus keeps his eyes on the waters surface, knowing there's a lot more than fish down there, "Have you ever met the squid?"

"Oh, yes!" You nod cheerily, and Regulus shudders as the way your hands rake through his hair sends a shiver up your spine, "He likes the gifts I give him."

"Gifts?"

"Mostly flowers," You nod, "Speaking of: Can you hand me that daisy there, please?"

Regulus plucks the thin green stem from the grass, holding it up to you cautiously, "Why?"

"It's pretty in your hair," You explain simply, tucking the flower into his braid.

The flower doesn't last ten minutes in his hair after you flutter away. In fact, Regulus hunches in the shadows of the castle to undo the strands you've woven together in his hair, shaking it out before anyone sees him. But the daisy he slips between two pages of an old textbook, and when it's charmed to be unbreakable, the dried flower goes in his pocket.

Fighter #06 - Kirby

- Little Mac introduced him to Naruto and now he's a big fan of it. His favorite character is Kakashi Hatake.

- Kirby loves to cosplay! He often makes cosplays of the other fighters. It's not in a creepy way, it's just that he admires them and their unique abilities. Getting a wig is easy enough, since all he has to do is inhale them, but the clothes can be difficult because Kirby's body is so round. Cosplay Pikachu often helps him out and gives him tips.

- He likes painting rocks in his free time. To help earn funds for the mansion, he'll go back to Dreamland and sell them to the locals.

- He's a master of croquet, but somehow terrible at golf. If that wasn't bad enough, he only gets worse when playing Wii Golf.

- Cloud and Link are his idols. He'll hang out with them every chance he gets.

- Kirby's Ultra Sword is the biggest sword in Smash. Unfortunately, this has caused Sephiroth to hate him.

- Kirby is always the first fighter to greet new additions to the roster. No matter who they are or where they came from, he's always super excited to meet them.

- Despite his spherical stature, he's an amazing ballerina. He has a tutu that's pink, just like him.

- Kirby is one of the backup dancers for the Squid Sisters.

- He's a firm believer in giving second chances. He doesn't give a flying flea that the villains tried to kill him, everyone deserves a fresh start in his eyes.

- He loves to read fantasy novels. In his room, there's a giant bookshelf filled with tales about fairies, dragons, unicorns, and other mythological creatures. Speaking of which, he loves reading about Greek and Norse mythology. He finds it really interesting.

- Kirby can inflate anything in three seconds. If the Smash Bros are at the beach and the beach ball is going flat, he can refill it in no time. That being said, if the beach balls are forgotten, Kirby will NOT allow anyone to use him instead. That's just disrespectful.

- Terry introduced him to Earth music and now he can't stop listening to it. He loves k-pop and 80s music the most. His playlist is forty hours long and it keeps growing longer. Kirby wants to expand his horizons as much as possible, so he'll gladly take song recommendations, no matter what genre it is. In fact, that's how he figured out that he was a big Mastodon fan.

- He's really good at Just Dance.

- Kirby is a sweetheart, but his monstrous appetite can be really tough to deal with. Combined with the appetites of Pac-Man, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Wario, King K. Rool, and King Dedede, it's a complete nightmare for whoever's making food that day. These devious fighters need to have at least three servings for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner.

- One time, the roster held a potluck to celebrate the fact that they were all still alive, and the hungry seven were allowed to have four servings instead of their usual three, which was a big mistake. The only thing left over was a single piece of chicken, and the following day, the seven of them fought over who would get to eat it. First, they argued with each other, then it became an all-out brawl. Of course, Kirby ended up winning. To commemorate his victory, he made himself a trophy out of cardboard, gold star stickers, and dried macaroni that he keeps in a display case in his room.

- He really wants to join in on the Mario Kart races, but keeps getting rejected because Warp Stars are too overpowered, apparently.

- Kazuya really hates him, but poor Kirby doesn't understand why. After Kazuya tried to kill him, Kirby picked some purple flowers and gave them to him as a peace offering. The grumpy devil man thought they were poisonous and crushed them underfoot. Poor Kirby was heartbroken, but he understood that Kazuya didn't have much plant knowledge. He seemed to hate him even more after Kirby showed him his copy ability. Legend has it that Kirby is still trying to win him over to this day.

- His favorite dessert is strawberry cheesecake and you can't convince me otherwise.

- Ever since Ken told Kirby about going to Disneyland with his family, it's become Kirby's dream vacation. He's currently saving up for a trip with the entire roster. His main goal is to meet Mickey Mouse.

- Over the winter, Kirby taught Pichu how to ice skate. Sephiroth was proud to see his son learning new things.

- Kirby and Samus enjoy eating spicy stuff together. Though he usually ends up with fire breath, he always has a good time.

- He brews the best tea in the world. If a fighter is feeling sick, he has tons of herbal tea recipes to help with whatever ailment they have.

- When it's rainy outside, he and the Pokemon will go out and jump in puddles.

- He has the biggest sweet tooth, but can't stand orange or lime sherbet. He doesn't know what it is, there's just something about it that he doesn't like.

- He loves scavenger hunts! During holidays, he always sets up themed scavenger hunts for the fighters to enjoy.

- He's one of the only fighters who have seen Meta Knight without his mask (the other is King Dedede). Being the kind friend he is, Kirby's never told anyone what he looks like.

- Kirby's usually opposed to stealing, but once in a while, he just likes taking Mario's hat. It's super comfortable, and it gives him an excuse to hang out with Cappy more.

- He and Jigglypuff are two peas in a pod. They're almost always together. 

- When Jigglypuff has a bad fur day, Kirby is there in a flash with two combs and some hairspray. He doesn't really know what he's doing, but he tries his best to help her out.

- Kirby, Jigglypuff, and Little Mac have weekly binge-watching sessions. It all started when Little Mac had Kirby watch every episode of Naruto with him. After they finished, Jigglypuff later joined them and they ended up watching the entirety of Sailor Moon. Now, the three of them plan on tackling One Piece.

- He plays co-op games with Fox all the time.

- Link once took Kirby to Hyrule and introduced him to the Gerudo. Long story short, they're the only two voe allowed to enter Gerudo Town.

- Kirby is the type to snack on ice chips.

- This pink ball of destruction is incapable of getting brain freeze.

- His favorite Song from the Smash soundtrack is Green Greens from Melee. He loves Green Greens as it is, but this version makes him feel like he's on a quest.

in the morning, he’s usually making a smoothie and having some oatmeal to go with it. throw in a little fruit, maybe even some coffee if he feels like he might not make it through the day. for lunch, he usually opts for something quick, but fresh and satisfying like from a food truck since he’s probably gonna be on the run the moment he’s done. like tacos or kimbap! ESPECIALLY kimbap, he loves that shit. kimbap, some squid chips, and a seltzer water? yeah, babey.

for dinner, it really depends. he might cook something for himself! like curry and laab moo with some roti on the side, tom yum, xiaolongbao with cold noodles, hot pot, maybe some fried tofu with a little sauce over it with some rice maybe a couple of eggs on top of it all. if he orders something it ‘s usually cuban food, ‘cause his ass loves ropa vieja. sometimes indian or greek. japanese. if it’s japanese, he’s goin’ out for okonomiyaki.

oh babey… i can’t even describe… but he dresses better than anyone u’ve ever met… don’t invite him to ur birthday, he’s gonna show up in vintage versace, on a white horse, while 70s underground disco plays. body chains everywhere. he’s so eclectic and fashionable and experimental. runway looks just to go to the store. of course for work he’ll just wear a suit or something casual lol. but outside of work????? u could see him in a $5000 la perla pajama set, eden boots, faux fur coat, and a pearl necklace just to get chips from the gas station. he’s ur glam babygirl…. he’s your goth boyfriend…

affectionate enough so please don’t touch him a lot. lkjgfdlsgjkl. and idk, he has a hot-cold kind of personality, so sometimes he won’t even look at you. won’t touch you, won’t do anything. if he’s touching a friend, it’s usually when it’s a very intimate moment. like a serious talk or something. he’s not one to grab them up into hugs and shit. he’s not a cuddlebug. but in somber, solemn moments or moments where he wants to make a point, he may touch a hand very briefly. like a little flash of love and absolute trust and vulnerability.

Summary: You give JinMiChae a visit after the author put you through another one of his scenes.

His fingers carefully trace the cover of the book resting in his hands, the young man soon opening it with a curious glint in his eyes. He rapidly flips the pages to get to the newest scenes, almost cutting his skin open with the sharp paper. It doesn’t take him long to recognize the last scene he read, the drawn and coloured pages leaving a mark as he registers the next set of dialogue written in the bubbles.

“You can stop reading.” He slightly jumps up at the sound of your voice, your next set of words coming up to his ears before he has a chance to look up from the book. “It happened.”

His eyes set on your form, a small smile gracing his lips as soon as he notices the state that you’re in. He can’t help but let out a chuckle when he sees the water dripping down from your hair and your clothes, the young man trying his best to hide his amusement when he notices your glare.

“Seriously?” You squint your eyes at him, not liking how your clothes are feeling at this moment. “You’re really gonna laugh at me?”

“Well…” He hides his mouth behind his hand for a second, his eyes squinting because of his smile as he gestures to you. “I’m not saying I told you so… but…”

“Ugh, I know.” You drop your body on a chair nearby, your expression faltering into a desperate one. “You can’t change the course of actions set by the author. You told me a million times.”

“Yet, you still thought you could change this.” He turns his back on the coloured pages, his curiosity as to what happened after your demise taking over his mind. “Foolish thinking, if you ask me.”

“He was planning to have me pushed into the pool! All just for a side comical background scene!” His smile grows when he hears the frustration in your voice. “I don’t care if I’m just a side character. Hell, I don’t care if I only exist to fill in some gasps. But this? This is just plain out torture!”

“Hm-hm.” He turns the page, barely taking in your words. “Really painful. I don’t know how you survived this day.”

You send him a glare from your place. “Stop mocking me.”

“What?” He looks back at you, a sarcastic expression on his face. “I’m only empathizing.”

You squint your eyes at him, which only seem to make his grin stretch out onto his cheeks. “I hate you.”

“Yes, I know.” He lets go of the book and crosses his arms over the table, his eyes looking intently at you with an amused glint in them. “I love that about our relationship.”

You roll your eyes at him, not wasting a second before you stand up from your chair.

“If you’re gonna mock me, then there’s no point for me to stay here.” He chuckles at your reaction, your eyes sending him a glare as you give out a teasing grin. “Have a good day, Dried Squid Fairy.”

I have some history with this drama. So, first of all, I heard the ost from Stray Kids (Neverending Story) and fell in love with the song. Then I was like, I must watch the drama now, right. I saw Kim Hye-yoon, she plays Eun Dan Oh, in the cast. I loved her acting in Sky Castle (hated her character with a passion), so was even more excited. However, I watched the first episode and, quit watching after that. I just did not like it, too cliche. Few weeks after that, I showed my sister an example of a bad kdrama, rewatching the first episode. We had quite some fun watching it, so I thought, why not watch the second episode. Since then I've been hooked on this drama.

Quite ironic I thought the first episode was way too cliché, because, well, that's one of the main themes: cliche storylines.

Why he was acting weird when he met Nam Joo’s mom... Because that was his mom in the previous book

Why he never bonded with Kyung after he woke up like he did with Dan Oh and Do Hwa but was avoiding him, because in the precious book Kyung’s character and Squid’s character fucking hated each other.

Why the Squid was mad Dan Oh and Haru were falling in love, because it was their love that caused Dan Oh to die for Haru by Kyung in the previous book leaving them all with the guilt of her death.

Which also explains why when the Squid found out Kyung was awake, he said he doesn’t know where this story is going anymore because Kyung being awake makes it all more unpredictable.
