Flowers you gave to Gods have withered away? no problemo, reuse them!
Hello guys! I believe I made a post before in which I talked about my habit of picking up flowers for Lady Aphrodite, Lord Hermes, and Lady Athena whenever I come back home. However, since they do not have dirt in which to expand their roots and absorb water, they wither away very soon. Generally, I would advise you to not leave expired food or dried-up flowers on your deity's altar. But there comes the question
,, Jelly, what do I do with them afterward?"
Well, fear not, because I've got just the solution as your fellow devotee and flower enjoyer!
1. Make homemade Potpourri!
A potpourri is basically a jar full of flowers, fruits, spices, etc. Which you leave in your room for its scent. Once your flowers get all dry, you can make one of these and place them in your room as to fill it with scents that remind you of your deities! and it is also a way more natural alternative to room freshener. I personally follow this recipe:
– Spread your flower heads and petals on a baking sheet. – Dry your flowers in an oven at 93° Celsius (200° Fahrenheit), which may take up to two hours. – Place dried flowers in an airtight container with a lid and add two or three drops of essential oils for your ideal scent. Rose, lemon, lavender, and cinnamon are among the most common fragrances for the home. – Store for six to eight weeks to allow the flowers to absorb the essential oils.
PS: Can also be a good freshener for your altar!
2. Homemade dried flower body scrub!
I actually only found out abut this today. But, apparently, if you mix up dried flower petals with Epsom salt, sea salt, baking soda, and essential oils you can basically create a scrub! I dunno if I would recommend it to people with sensitive skin tho...
3.Scented room spray
Mix together essential oils, alcohol, and dried flowers, and BOOM natural room spray! poof a little on your altar every morning!
4. If they are roses, make rosaries out of them!
Even though rosaries can be found a lot in Catholicism, many other religions use them. Buddhists, Muslims, and so much more! and, they actually used to be made out of actual roses. @jekraftbooks has a very good tutorial on TikTok about this, but basically, you need to:
1.Take your dried roses and throw them in a blender
2.Cook them down for several days at a low temperature. Only simmering, never boil.
3.When it begins to form like a clay ball, it is ready to go! Get a cheese cloth and squeeze all the water you can out of the clay. (Keep it for later)
4.Roll them into balls. Put a needle through them to make the hole, then leave them on cardboard for a few days to dry.
5. Once they dry, they will be rough, but we need them to have a smooth texture. Use the water from step 3, then rub some oil on them to give them some shine and protection from water ✨
6.Your beads are done! congrats! make necklaces, earrings, bracelets, any type of jewelry you wish for with them! You can also dedicate them to a deity as devotional jewelry or use them for prayer. Let your creativity go wild!!

Herbalism 101: Lavender
Fun Fact: Lavender is a part of the mint family; making it a natural insect repellent.
English lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is an excellent way to add a mid-summer pop of color to your garden or patio. Planting is somewhere where you can enjoy its beautiful scent. English lavender is more tolerant of colder temperatures common in the Marquette area than French lavender, making it an excellent choice for herb gardens and perennial borders. how they wrap gifts
➼ featuring: annie, armin, eren, jean, hange, levi, mikasa, pieck, porco, reiner zeke
⋆꙳•❅‧ ‧❆ ₊⋆ ⋆₊ ❆‧ ‧❅•꙳⋆
annie
since she very carefully unwraps her own presents, she ends up reusing the paper for the following year - oftentimes the same paper would go as a wrapping for the same person she'd received the gift (and thus the paper) the previous year from
measures out a piece of paper by eye and never gets the size wrong
a pull-string bow nestled in a corner is peak level of gift decoration for Annie but she'd always make sure to attach name tags
armin
chooses wrapping paper and ribbon based not on the festive season but on the vibes of a person the gift is intended for - so everyone gets their gift theme-coordinated
adjusts his wrapping technique to suit the shape of the present perfectly, wraps and unwraps the gift multiple times for necessary corrections
adds a personal hand-written card within each present alongside the recipient's favourite treats
eren
uses too much tape and spends too much time hunched over each present, making sure every edge is crisp and neat
opts for solid color wrapping paper as he prefers to write the recipient's name directly on the paper
no non-sense embellishments - if he ever uses one, it would be a ribbon tightly wrapped around the present to ensure its security, topped off with a plain looking bow
jean
too cool for conventional design wrapping paper so he uses kraft paper and customizes it with doodles putting undoubtedly and most certainly zero effort in the creation process
can't stand the look of tape on the kraft paper which results in him hot-glue-gunning his way through each present for speed
ties a length of twine around the present and glues on a totally not thoroughly planned out potpourri arrangement for a finishing touch
hange
uses metallic and holographic wrapping paper paired with ribbon of the same bright neon color
the wrapping is meant to be destroyed in their mind that's why they pack the presents like party crackers and fill it with confetti and glitter
always adds a bag of goodies to the main gift
levi
uses double-sided tape since it's more neat than regular tape or glue
color-codes gifts with different kinds of wrapping paper so that he remembers which present is for whom - one could say that he chooses the recipient's favorite design but he'd never admit to it
has adopted one wrapping style for himself and never strays away from it, honing it to perfection in speed and precision
mikasa
opts for furoshiki instead of paper since it's more practical and would skip over the messy wrapping process - fabric with subtle flower patterns is her favorite
embroiders the recipient's initials on each piece of cloth to add a personal touch and ensure that she wouldn't mix up the presents
makes the bow so tight for security that only she is able to untie it afterwards and tucks dried flowers under the knots for the look and slight fragrance
pieck
never really bothers with the choice of wrapping paper - if there isn't some lying around the house, she'd simply make due with whatever newspaper she has
glitter and pull-string bows draw the attention from all the wrapping mistakes that's why Pieck rarely starts over and keeps going no matter what
might go an extra mile of wrapping gifts several times just to fuck with people
porco
implements more complicated styles of wrapping including origami patterns and such
prefers scented wrapping paper basing his paper choices primarily on fragrance rather than appearance - also makes sure that everyone knows that he uses scented paper and thus is fancier than them
makes it his mission to use as little tape as possible
reiner
since most of the stationery in the house was bought for Gabi, Reiner often finds himself using her supplies, with glitter glue being the most frequent choice
his presents are usually the biggest since he oftentimes gets carried away and buys a bunch of mini-gifts alongside the main one
the little bows he crafts at the end of the ribbons or to attach a name tag are consistently the cutest - the same goes for the thematic stickers strategically placed throughout the present
zeke
it would be a stroke of luck to see Zeke's gifts wrapped in any sort of wrapping paper, or just paper for that matter - he doubts that it would be worth his time and effort wrapping each present up just for the paper to get eventually destroyed
that's why gift bags are his besties - not only do they save him the effort of wrapping but they can also be repurposed for future use
the same goes for the name tags - he's customized wooden blanks with the names of a set group of people and reuses them from year to year

ft. candles that work; 50% gelatin success - 6th Annual Holiday Bash
everything was pretty well prepared regarding timeage - keeping in mind next year, it really would be better for the layout to be totally set by the expected start time. a routine that has established itself in the past three years is my guests watching me bash gelatin molds around so I can Complete the Table, and as I was carving the beef with a ring of My Insanely On-Time Guests sitting on the rug behind me holding polite conversation, I felt like I was keeping things (and refreshment!) at standstill
these are little party scheduling blip-blups of time and space that I feel are circumvented when you're in a house or a larger apartment - people can roam without feeling hide-y, they can poke around more, they can lounge. in a small spaces lapses are more intimately felt, especially when a lot of the guests run anxious - I don't like the idea that people feel they can't eat or drink until a signal is given
presentation: I'm getting closer to what I want. I always think I'll have time and energy to run up a seasonal homemade tablecloth or tree skirt or make a wreath, but never do; managed this year with doing a couple flower arrangements and flung my old twin bed cover around the tree stand Just So that it appeared passably intentional
presentation 2: if your fruit bowl is too Aesthetic and Pretty, despite being placed welcomingly on the table with all the rest of the edible food, your guests will be wary to remove anything from it; if a lid or cover is placed over a dish, your guests will not remove it; if you have a candy dish full of spiced pecans at the wayside, your guests will naturally assume it is a dish of (1) potpourri, or (2) decorative dried mushrooms and will not remove anything from it
misc: a lamp I had stopped liking so much was broken, which means I can go lamp-shopping again; I was gifted a massive fern terrarium
at this point, I'm so fascinated by what compels me this time of year that I'm thinking of starting a substack just to start writing about my (admittedly uneven right now) cooking and domestic life
earlier this year I requested/demanded @drdemonprince read (and hate) Brandon Taylor's Real Life so I would have someone to talk to about how much I hated it (see post below), so he bought me the record I have been avoiding all year because I have not had the strength to confront the sorrows Sufjan Stevens has experienced recently.
having a friend is a lot like throwing a party - it is, quite overlapping, the twin whims of wanting to impart a good time and submit loved ones to ordeals.

Potpourri
During his retirement, Papa Primo Emeritus falls in love with a new Sister of Sin who has suffered a tragic loss. While the new sister settles into the Abbey, Primo can’t help but grow more infatuated with her. Promising to give her everything she desires, but can he win her affections when she still can’t let go of the past?
Chapter 8: Forget Me Nots
Also available HERE on AO3! Haven’t started yet, start from the beginning HERE!
Definitely NSFW below the cut!
Chapter 8: Forget Me Nots
The soil felt smooth as Gwen finished patting it into place. The seeds pressed gently into the earth, with all the love and care she could give them. It had been weeks since her and Primo spent the night under the honeysuckle in the greenhouse. The garden, henceforth becoming a much-needed sanctuary for her. The one place in all the world she felt happy, if even for only brief moments at a time.
Primo had a mind to bring her there every day, though he wasn’t always able. He could from the moment she stepped into it that the garden awakened the joy inside her. Insisting she’d join him in his working of the land whenever she could. Slowly Gwen began to let go, allowing some of the walls she had built up to come down, caving whenever she ventured to the garden. Rolling up her sleeves and not afraid to get her hands dirty beside him. Creating something beautiful out of something so messy, a simple task that had come to mean so much to her.
She was sitting along the stone patch as she finished up her work. Her collection of seeds all beneath the soil as she began dabbing the small pearls of sweat. The embroidery of her handkerchief donning the ruby red initials of “P.E.I”. Turning to the sound of footsteps towards her and her eyes beginning to sparkle when she caught sight of Primo having just arrived.
He was returning from his meeting with his brothers in preparation for the Ostara celebrations. The annual celebration of the Spring Equinox—of new life would be quickly upon them and with that the Ministry had become busier and busier as the day drew near. The Equinox had normally been a time Primo was at his most jubilant. A chance to start anew and for things to grow—to share his love of flowers with the siblings.
This year however was different. The closer the time came, the more he worried more about how the celebrations would affect Gwen. Expecting that the festivities in on of this particular subject would set her back. Undo all the progress she had made.
“What was the hold up?” she asked him. Having grown just comfortable enough around him to start giving him a bit of grief, though Primo was so smitten he wouldn’t have noticed. Falling in love with her all over again with each passing moment. His heart warmed by looking at her—hands tinged with dirt and that sweet smile worn brightly across her face.
“Just some final decisions and preparations for Ostara. Terzo is arguing that he should be in charge of the fertility rituals with the new siblings…we beg to differ.” he told her, watching as the smile immediately fell from her face.
“Oh…” was all she could say. Primo reached out his hand to help her up. Gwen, quietly brushing off the dirt from her habit as he gently pressed a kiss into her forehead.
“Mio fiore… you know that we don't have to attend the celebrations if you don’t want to.” he assured her, pulling her closer to him. Gwen nuzzled against his chest. Taking in the scent of incense and dried herbs mixed with the faintest hint of rose. Feeling at ease as she listened to the beat of his heart. Comforted by him like no other.
“No.” she sighed, squeezing him tighter.
“No?” He pulled back to look at her. Her eyes were filled with tears.
“I know how much the celebrations mean to you. What kind of woman would I be to take something away that means so much to you?” she explained. Primo taking her lips onto his. The heat between them, manifesting in the well endowed outline within his slacks. The length of which pressed hard against Gwen’s thigh.
She hummed against his lips. No longer shy about her need of him, as she ran her fingers across it. Primo let out a shutter and a slight moan. Wrapping his arms around her as they lost themselves in their kiss. Deep and passionate as he slipped his hand up between Gwen’s thighs. Meeting quickly with her heated core.
“I need you.” she confessed, his fingertips already teasing at her panties. Gwen, shuffling where she stood in anticipation of him.
“I need you more.” Primo proclaimed, sinking his fingers into her gently. Her head fell back as a breathy moan escaped her. Her delicate hands, holding on tightly to him as he massaged her inside. Pressing intently into the soft, cushiony flesh of her walls. Primo burying his face in her neck, kissing her and whispering praises in her ear.
“Oh Primo… I…I.” she mewled, her lover’s talented digits already bringing her to the brink of ecstasy. Her body, coming undone quickly where she stood. Almost limp in Primo's arms as he worked her over.
“Cum.” Primo insisted. Biting his bottom lip as he felt her tightening all around his fingers. Using his other hand to try and steady her. He loved how beautiful she was this way. The pleasure between them, giving the most delightful flush to her cheeks. The relaxed look on her face was everything.
When he was done, he slipped himself from her. His lips quickly taking onto hers, when to his surprise Gwen dropped carefully down to her knees, undoing the button of his pants and allowing his cock to fall free. She blushed immediately, having never seen it in the daylight. Now laid out in its full glory, intimidating as she looked up at him. Taking a quick lick of the head before Primo ran his fingers through her hair.
“Mmm…” Gwen hummed as she began to tease him, stroking his shaft gently. Her eyes, never leaving him.
“You know you don’t have to do this.” Primo smiled, his cock pulsing with every slight move of her hand. Unwittingly finding himself carefully thrusting into her touch.
“I know, but I want to…wait, what's this?” she asked, her voice filled with concern but more so curiosity. Primo looked down, watching as she carefully traced his scar with her fingertip. It traveled around his shaft, something easily hidden in the dark, but quite obvious in the spotlight of the afternoon sun.
“War injury.” he smirked, watching as Gwen raised an eyebrow at him. He was incredibly funny when he wanted to be.
“Is that so?” she laughed. Moving once more with her fist. Up and down along his full length.
“Ah… a story for another time.” he assured her, breathless as Gwen moved forward with her intentions to please him. Primo had never felt such rapturous bliss. So in love with this woman. He would give her anything and everything she wanted, if she’d only allow him.
A few short days had passed, and the morning of the Ostara celebrations arrived. Primo, along with his brothers, was occupied from the moment the sun began to rise with the ceremonies. Readying for the likes of fertility rituals and blessings of rebirth. The whole of the Abbey grounds, covered in daffodils and wildflowers. The siblings and ghouls alike enjoying the warm weather and the sounds of children laughing already began to fill the courtyard.
The day was filled with activity. Everyone, buzzing from ritual to ritual. The Papas, presiding over them all in between bountiful feast and drink. It was amazing that there was any room left in anyone’s stomachs come midday.
Gwen drifted carefully through the day. Doing her best to ignore the happy siblings with their small children in tow. Or the group of pregnant sisters who sat before the newly constructed outdoor altar—surrounded by baaing lambs. All of them, waiting for the next ceremony where the Papas would bestow blessings for a safe delivery.
By the time dusk hit, she wished so badly she could run back to her room. Hide from the constant reminders that plagued her at every turn. She promised to try for Primo and was so proud she had managed to stay. Walking around dressed like all the other maidens, who had yet to bear a child, in a white muslin gown.
At some point she knew she would have been expected to participate, like all the others who were present on the grounds. Though she did everything she could to avoid it and successfully hid herself among them. Watching everyone else smiling and enjoying themselves as she greeted them wearing a thinly veiled mask of happiness on her face.
As the day went on she would catch him, more and more searching for her eyes. Smiling up at Primo when he’d see her. So handsome in his robes, all of them in their full Papal regalia, and so brilliant in his command of the rituals. The one saving grace for the day, was knowing that when it was over, she would be back safely in his comforting arms.
Primo and his brothers stood at the picnic tables, talking to the visiting clergy who had traveled for the festivities. The siblings had been finishing up their food as the ghoul began lighting up all the lanterns. The sun setting as the day was heading to an end, Primo noticeably distracted by his keeping tabs on Gwen. As the group continued to converse, Mr. Saltarian approached them. Placing his hand on Primo’s shoulder.
“Pardon the intrusion Papas, but everything is ready for the conception ritual.” he alerted them.
“Oh?” Primo asked, looking back over his old friend’s shoulder to see the altar, dressed in bouquets of yellow daffodils and lilies, ready for use. Primo knew this was the one ritual he was looking forward to. A few rites read by the chosen Papa and a blessing to the couple before they were allowed to consummate their intentions on the altar. Hoping to gain favor from Lucifer to help them conceive that night.
Primo decided to give it a shot, sending Saltarian a knowing look before heading off to retrieve Gwen from the crowd. The group of them, watching as Primo went running off opposite the altar. Saltarian, giving a hopeful smile as he tried to regroup the rest of the Emeritus brothers. Only then did Copia notice Primo was leaving them.
“Where is he off to? It’s time to start the rit—” Copia began before Secondo cut him off at the pass.
“You know exactly what he is going over there for stronzo.” he told him, Secondo rolling his eyes at Copia. The youngest Emeritus, finally beginning to understand the situation.
“Can’t blame him… it's the perfect opportunity.” Terzo smirked, wiggling his brows at Mr. Saltarian and Copia.
“Every opportunity for you is the perfect opportunity, now move.” Secondo hissed, shepherding them to the altar.
Primo found Gwen quickly, seated by herself on a bench in the far back of the yard. Her eyes were closed. She seemed to be mediating or finding a way to control her emotions— though Primo could tell she had just about had enough. Coming to sit down beside her and taking her hand in his, instinctively Gwen knew it was him.
“Is it over yet?” she asked him, the need to cry heavy in her tone.
“Almost amore… almost.” he assured her, bringing her closer to rest against him. He could hear her sniffling. Bringing his hand up to wipe the warm tears that rolled down her cheeks. He couldn’t ask her now. The idea would only make things worse.
“Don’t be… you know I was going to wait until a bit later to show you something, but I think now would be a good time. Get you away from all this, spend some time just the two of us before bed, si?” Primo asked as Gwen brought her eyes to him.
“I’m sorry.” she told him. The weight of the day had been too much and now she was unable to hold back the emotions bubbling up inside.
“Ok… ok.” she sniffled, taking Primo’s hand as he led the way. To Gwen’s surprise he led her to the garden.
“It’s just over here.” he told her as they passed the roses and the newly bloomed poppies, hellebores, and bloodroots. Finding a small section of flower bed that was covered in the tiniest little sprouts, still lacking their blooms.
“What are these?” she asked him. Primo smiled, sneezing tightly to her hand.
“These are Forget Me Nots.” he began, watching as Gwen’s eyes began to tear up once again, “...I thought it would be nice for you to have a place to come when you need to think about them—the baby you lost.” he explained, his mismatched eyes roaming her face, watching her reaction. He wondered what she was thinking. Her eyes staring into his as if she could see directly into his soul. The tears balancing themselves on her lashes.
“Thank you.” was all she could say before the floodgates opened and Gwen began to weep into Primo’s chest. The stress of the day, coupled with his sweet gesture, hitting her full force. Unable to control her sobs.
“Of course… You know grief isn’t something we forget or get over. It's something we grow around. I know that I could never give you back, and I never expect you to forget them.” he told her. Primo, hoping that this small place just for her as a memorial to her baby would be able to help her heal.
“I know amore… I know.” Primo said, as he held her close. Rubbing her back gently as she continued to cry in his arms. No matter how much time would pass, Primo knew that a part of her would also ache for what she lost. He only hoped she’d allow him to help carry the burden and to allow herself to heal.
“I was so happy.” Gwen cried, holding on to Primo for dear life as she felt her heart crushing inside her chest. The pain flowing through her as inside she recalled that day. The worst day of her life.

The flower petals/pot-pourri is here again! I couldn't resist the temptation of yet another book reference:
In Tangled Web, pot-pourri is a symbol of everlasting love, passion and dreams:
"The jug was full of old pot-pourri and the room was instantly filled with its faint fragrance--a delicate spicy smell, old-maidishly sweet, virginally elusive, yet with such penetrating, fleeting suggestions of warm passion and torrid emotions."
Tangled Web by L. M. Montgomery
In The Blue Castle, pot-pourri is a symbol of family chains, half-lives and a slavery to fear and convention - by letting go of the pot-pourri, Valancy choses her freedom:
"Valancy got up and dressed, with a deepening of that curious sense of freedom. When she had finished with her hair she opened the window and hurled the jar of potpourri over into the next lot. It smashed gloriously against the schoolgirl complexion on the old carriage-shop.
“I’m sick of the fragrance of dead things,” said Valancy."
Blue Castle by L. M. Montgomery
In Emily's Quest, flower petals are the symbol of her broken dreams, unrequited love, unfulfilled ambitions and long-forgotten hopes:
"With a sudden quick movement she cut open the envelope and took out the letter.
A whiff of old fragrance came with it. Folded in it were some dried rose-leaves—crisp brown things that crumbled to dust under her touch. Yes, she remembered that rose—Teddy had brought it to her one evening when they had been children together"

♻Repost: @herbalacademy Stovetop potpourris, also known as “simmering spices,” have been used for centuries to fill homes with the comforting smells of local fruits, spices, flowers, and herbs. 🍊
We're infusing our homes with good, holiday cheer by simmering this Holiday Stovetop Potpourri recipe... oranges, cinnamon, rosemary, and cloves make up this warming, spiced blend. We’ve also added a sprinkle of fresh cranberries for seasonal color. If you want to give you potpourri blend as a gift, then extend the shelf life by using dried cranberries and dried rosemary instead, but the color won’t be nearly as vibrant. 🎁 {Yield: one 14-ounce decorative jar.}
HOLIDAY STOVETOP POTPOURRI
🌿 1 cup fresh cranberries
🌿 6-8 dried orange rounds
🌿 4-6 cinnamon (Cinnamomum spp.) sticks
🌿 3 fresh rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus) sprigs
🌿 ¼ cup clove (Syzygium aromaticum) buds
DIRECTIONS
+ First, dehydrate the orange slices by thinly slicing them and baking them at 200 degrees Fahrenheit for about 2.5 hours or until the peels are dry and the flesh is translucent.
+ If you’re making these as a gift, then the presentation is key! It’s best to layer the ingredients directly in the jar in a way that’s visibly pleasing to the eye. Stop by Director @marleneadelmann's feed for a beautiful gift styling idea!
+ Cap the jars, and add a label if you choose. For an extra-special finishing touch, thread twine through a dried orange slice and tie it around the top of the jar.
+ To use, add the entire mix to a stockpot or crockpot, cover with water, then simmer on and off for a few days. Turn the heat off any time the scent becomes overpowering or if you feel your home smells sufficiently delightful. After a few hours have passed, and the smell has faded, turn the heat back on for a fresh infusion. This blend will last 3-4 days and should be stored in the fridge overnight.
After you’ve extracted as much of the smell as possible, compost your spent herbs and spices and use any remaining water to give your houseplants a holiday-scented drink. 🎄

30th Stolen

Character Simon Brown (Age Up)
Couple Simon X Reader
Rating Spooky
Halloween day 30
I strolled about the charming cobblestones following along with my family, as we wandered the town's autumn market lingering at the odd petite wooden carts and stalls. Many of which are graced with orange and brown fabrics. I suppose it was a fun afternoon out but it wasn't all that interesting the same standard cider bottles, orange leaf potpourri, candy apples, spider sugar, and the mossy autumnal candals. I headed through the market and saw one nice little wooden cart stall, the stall had little bottles sealed with wax bottles filled with various items, hand-woven dream catchers, dried flowers and other such items. I went over and had a glance at some of the nice items they were very beautiful but all far too expensive for me.
"Good Afternoon" A voice smiled I looked up and saw the seller,
She- she's beautiful. She was so captivating, with long silky hair tied in a sweet braid that reached her hip, green ivy woven into her braid, she wore an impressive sage dress with flowers embroidered across the fabric and little white gloves. "Could I help you with anything?"
"Uuughhhhhhhh.... Hi"
"Hi" she smiled
"Ughh I uhh I've never seen you around here before"
"New to town, it's my first fair."
"Ohh uhh, I see, If I may ask your name?"
"Aww Y/n"
"Y/n, that's a very beautiful name,"
"May I have yours?"
"Ohh uhh Simon
"Simon that's a very sweet name"
"ohh thank you, it uhh it all looks amazing, are you enjoying the fair?"
"Very much so,"
"Simon come on!" My father shouted as he noticed I was lagging behind
"sorry I need to go"
"It's alright I'm sure I'll see you around" she smiled
"I hope so" I smiled heading towards my family as she turned to the severe another customer I quickly grabbed a small bottle from the cart before I hurried off to my family holding the bottle in my pocket.
I smiled laying in my bed in my new bedroom, as I had moved up to the attic for some privacy now I was older my bed lay in the shadow of the round window, holding the sweet bottle in my hand. the little bottle was big enough to fit in my hand but small enough to fit in my pocket, the little bottle had lavender flowers, some spices, salt, and other such little items I didn't know corked and then sealed with purple wax. It made me so happy to be reminded of that beautiful girl from the fair.
I jumped as I saw this bright green flame rising beyond the window, I jumped from the bed and bolted downstairs joining my family everyone had gathered outside. In the centre of the yard was this tall swirling green flame, a hard dark storm looming over the house.
When the flames died down they revealed a woman who was thin, withered with long grey hair, in a black dress with a dark green shawl.
"You." She said pointing her long skeletal finger with long yellow nails at me. "You vile boy."
"What are you talking about?" My father asked
"You know what you took boy." She ignored him "I set a curse about this house and those whom call it home, a curse of ill fate and fortunes low, time will bring only more intensity until all are put to the dust. Return what you have taken and the curse will be lifted, refuse and face the night" She said before she began to cackle the green flames forming at her feet engulfing her and rising high before they disappeared her along with them.
"Simon..." My father began
"What the fuck have you done!" Eric yelled
"I - I didn't know"
"You stole from a witch! Was she who you stole from?"
"No"
"Then you stole from a coven of witches you idiot!"
"Simon. You are going to march up to your room fetch whatever it was you stole and return it to that wicked lady" my father demanded
"No please! I'll pay for it. Please don't make me return it"
"What did you steal"
"I-"
"What did you steal!"
I sighed and handed the bottle over
"Jar of luck and love, Why would you steal this?"
"The girl at the stall was pretty. I got swept up when I met her at the fair and I just took it. Something to be reminded of her and all"
"You are returning this tonight"
"But i-"
"Now!"
"Maybe I won't be so bad."
"Simon. A woman just appeared in a tornado of green fire and cursed the house. Take the damn bottle back to the witch or her curse is going to be the least of your concerns"
"Yes father" I sighed
He gave me back the bottle and I got my jacket on heading on the long walk to town, it took me a good hour by now it was getting intensely dark but luckily I found the little shop that had been open since the fair, and a light was on inside.
I nervously headed inside seeing the shelves of bottles, boxes, cards, and other such witchy items and I saw the old woman at the counter
"Ahhh the thief has returned"
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to take it"
"Don't lie to me boy"
"Alright I did but please I'll pay I just -"
"What made you want this spell bottle so badly? Luck and love?"
"Well I'm kinda always bad luck but… I didn't take it for its spell'
"Then why did you take it"
"I… I was worried that the girl running the stall, that she'd leave after the fair and… she was so beautiful and so sweet I just wanted something to remember her by, but I couldn't afford anything from the stall. So I stole it. Just to have a reminder. I'm sorry" I said offering the bottle
She took it back and snapped her fingers the bottle disappearing into a puff of smoke "consider your curse lifted" she says
"Thank you" I nodded quickly leaving the shop going out into the rain starting on my way home
"Simon?" I heard behind me I quickly turned and saw y/n in a sweet orange dress
"Ohh y/n, sorry about-"
"I'm sorry, my grandmother gets so worried when her spells go missing, I hope she didn't cause you too much trouble"
"No it's okay, I shouldn't have stolen it'
"I heard why you stole it'
"Ohh"
"That's very sweet Simon, but the ships art up now we're not going anywhere for a good long while"
"Good, maybe when I have some more money I'll come and get something for real then, maybe I see you?"
"I'm sure you will, have a nice evening Simon"
"You too y/n"
She blew me a little kiss and headed off back towards the shop.

Dreamy sigh as I rest on my A-Yao pillow and think about (warning: extremely specific headcanon ahead) ❄🏵 and dried flowers.
❄🏵 gifting each other flowers, and wanting to keep them forever, as a reminder of the other's presence when they have to go back to their clan and duties before having the chance to see each other again in months and months. J/G/Y keeping one of them dried between the pages and pages of his paperwork to allow himself to daydream about Zewu-jun for just a second. L/X/C making potpourri with the peonies to carry A-Yao's scent with him in his room.
#'lwj did it before it was cool' have you considered that they're all nerds and madly in love?#fic with the dried magnolia petal and fic with the peony scented tea: I LOVE YOU BOTH#nebulathundertalks#me talking about the otp#I just wanted to use the word potpourri okay

Rosehips Magic-Using Rosehips for Witchcraft
Finding Rosehips
Rosehips are commonly harvested during the Fall and Winter. They are small and bright red making them easy to forage and find. If you grow your own roses in your garden, don’t deadhead the flowers once they’ve died off. The base of the flower is what turns to a rosehip come Fall.
Rosehips are best gathered after the first frost especially if you are using them for food and medicine. But if it won’t get cold enough in your area for a while, don’t fret! You can simulate the frost by popping your rose hips into the freezer for 24 hours before using or drying them.
The rosehips you’ll want to gather are going to be bright red or red-orange in color. They should be soft but not mushy. Depending on the size of your bushes, most of the time rosehips are gathered one at a time. We have large wild roses that have to be maintained so we cut them off in bunches and sort the ripe and non-ripe ones out later.
If you can’t find rosehips in your area, places like Mountain Rose Herbs and Starwest Botanicals are good places to order already dried rosehips from.
Always make sure when gathering plants in the wild to a) pick them in areas not exposed to pesticides, chemicals and other toxic substances and b) leave some behind for the animals. Deer and birds especially love rosehips so leaving enough for the animals over the winter is the smart choice.
So now that you have your rosehips, what do you do with them?
(If you are interested in using them for food and medicine as well as how to dry them, check out our post from earlier this week. Find it here.)

Rosehips for Love Magics
When doing any love spells( self love, friendship, attracting your perfect partner etc) using roses and rosehips are common herbs used to boost your spells and rituals.
Before a spell ritual or just as a stress reliever-Fill a mesh bag( or old nylon pantyhose) with crushed rose hips and rose petals. While in the bath, meditate all of your stress and negative energies away. Visualize them washing down the drain with the water when you are done.
Love spells(pre-ritual bathing)– Using mental visualization, envision red, pink or white light surrounding you. You are looking for your ideal partner to find you( don’t envision anyone in particular(IE a crush) just focus on your person finding you.)
If you are doing a self love ritual, use affirmations and positive mantras to build your confidence and positivity.
Rosehip Oil
Rosehips Magic-Medicinal/ Health
You can make your rosehips serve a double duty by infusing magical energy into your rosehips before using them for various ailments.
When using rosehips for magical medicinals, add rosehips to tea for a sore throat or upset stomach. Soak a cloth in cool rosehip tea and apply to the body for headaches, backaches, bruises or other sore spots.
Other uses for Rosehips in Magic
Protect yourself and ward away nightmares by putting dried rosehips under your pillow before bed.
Place dried rosehips in your wallet to attract prosperity and money.

Aren’t there so many interesting uses for rosehips! Would rosehips be something you add to your herbal supplies?
