I was just thinking about Captain Steelsling again, and the thought of how he'd react to learning about or seeing some of the things that his partner went through in Cutthroat Cove came to mind. I like to imagine that he'd be both deeply comforting and terrifyingly protective of them; how do you think he'd react?

Oh man, he'd bluescreen for a second when he learns exactly what his sweet human endured for so long through no fault of their own.

He's normally quiet composed and restrained, but the desire to bury that steel prosthetic spike into the heart of everyone who ever made his human feel small and worthless and powerless is gonna be strong. He's gonna want to string them up with his webbing and leave them humiliated. He's going to want to hurt them. Probably the only thing that would stop him is if his partner told him to stop.

If he learns of it while the ship is at sea (and therefore when he can't hurt anyone deserving) he'd channel it instead into making sure his partner feels cherished and adored. Lots of touches and affection, and if his partner wants it, lots and lots of sex. Now is the time to make his partner feel good and safe and loved among non-humans.

Gods help the people of Cutthroat Cove the next time the Widow's Web docks though...

Originally I was going to do the Straw Hats but remembered that Sanji and Nami are scared of spiders lol.

And the moment I saw this request I could only think of one drider/Arachne!! Rachnera!!

-Whitebeard’s crew was full of dangerous and well-known fighters and members, both with Devil Fruit abilities and ones with natural abilities- making for a melting pot of a very dangerous combination against their enemies.

-You were no exception, after Whitebeard found you many years ago on the deserted island you called your home, and while at first many of your new crew mates were terrified of you, seeing a drider or an Arachne as some called you by- they grew used to you and your shenanigans.

-That being said, you always got to have your fun when new crew mates joined the crew, you loved teasing others, seeing others looking half terrified half aroused by you- as you were quite stunning, and you used that to your advantage~~

-Ace was the newest member and when you scaled down your thin wire, descending upon him from above, his scream made you grin as he turned white in shock, fainting on the spot before the whole ship burst into laughter.

-When Ace popped back up, he went to yell at you before you turned and he froze, he couldn’t yell at a lady~~

-You quickly saw this and approached, your clawed hand coming to cup his face, cooing softly at him, “Ooh~ a chivalrous man- even to a monster such as myself~ I think we need to keep you~” Ace was so flustered by your words and being so close that you couldn’t help but lick your lips in delight- you loved shy boys the most- they were so fun to pick on.

-You learned that Ace was dangerous, just as any of the rest of you were, with his fire abilities, as fire was one of the few things that could severe your threads, which were like iron, as you couldn’t handle extreme heat well.

-Ace was careful around you, not wanting you to get burnt, which always led to you pulling him into your arms, hugging him close while he was red faced, trying to get away from you- flustered by your affections.

-Ace knew that you were strong, as you could take down whole marine ships on your own, just using your dangerous threads, but you were also quite intimidating when you wanted to be.

-When you were on an island, getting supplies alongside Marco, Ace, and Thatch, someone threw a stone at you, which you caught easily as they called you a monster. Other villagers looked scared of you as well, as they had never seem someone like you before, but as you grabbed his man’s face, your eyes turning red as you bared your fangs, threatening him, he quickly fainted, and you dropped him while your ‘brothers’ were defending you.

-You always told them you didn’t need it, as you were used to it- you were used to others being scared of you, something that upset your brothers when you told them this.

-You froze when a child ran over, hugging one of your legs and instantly you were surrounded by other children, as you all came to realize the man you took care of was someone who recently arrived and was threatening this little village with violence, and you just saved them.

-Ace couldn’t hide the shit-eating grin on his face, seeing you looking away with a shy blush on your face, as you were shy with praise like this from others, especially kids.

-When Whitebeard got back to the ship he couldn’t help but laugh, seeing the three men wrapped in your silk in cocoons, only their heads visible, upside down while everyone else was laughing at them while you were up in the crow’s nest, pouting lightly from embarrassment.

-You were a unique member of a unique crew, but they all treated you like family, they were protective of you, and you were protective of them, but if they pissed you off, they were put into timeout like those three- you had a reputation after all!

I realllly should make art of my dnd pcs but here’s quick summaries for a few + Tavs/Durge

Yuta isn’t included since he’s technically neither a PC nor a playable Tav (plus I actually made art of him)

Nymé —

A drow wild magic sorcerer, chaotic good. He was born in the underdark but sold into slavery after being taken captive by a rival house. He worked mines and discovered magical prowess but his it from his captors lest he risk murder - either for tainted blood or for being a slave who knew dangerous magic.

Pirates entered and killed the drow slavers but left the slaves to fend for themselves, stealing treasures and the mined gems. Nymé stowed away but was caught on open ocean. He convinced them to let him stay as long as he was useful. They taught him fighting and theatre and common surface-world law. He eventually parted ways after a few years of being with them, realizing he enjoyed play dvd theatre more than pilfering.

Ashamed of his heritage he wears white grease paint with clown makeup, paints his white hair orange and styled up like a flame, and dresses in full embroidered costumers as a harlequin. He travels as a harlequin, using his magic as part of his show. He at times changes his eye color with magic, but feels he can get away with leaving them red without being clocked as a drow.

Vazven —

A Twilight cleric, neutral evil, once chosen as a high priest only to have failed a test of her might and cast into deep pits in the ‘Dark, transformed into a drider and abandoned. He makes nest in the corners of the Underdark. He lives isolated in the caves, eating what little he can. Hunting can be dangerous by himself, even as a large drider and former chosen.

He still prays to Lolth for forgiveness in hopes of one day earning her favor, even as a drider. But another god instead grants him pity: Vhaeraun, god of male drow. Vazven is too terrified of Lolth’s retribution to fully acknowledge Vhaeraun, but deeply desires belonging and cares greatly for drow custom.

He’s about 8ft tall on spider legs. His spider body is slick black and the legs are thin and sharp. His drow body is a medium gray with a faint lavender hue, his hands turn into black chitinous claws. He has six eyes, a main pair plus two smaller pairs above replacing his eyebrows. His hair is very long silver tangled with webbing and partly stuck to his body, about 4 feet long.

Whisper and Mantra —

a pair of sibling tieflings from the city (depends on campaign). They were orphaned young due to being tieflings, their mother a human who bedded a fiend multiple times. Mantra is older and lived through the basic hardships of an uncaring mother. She sent them to a temple doorstep when Whisper was born. They grew up together, but no gods quite heard their calling, and they remained impoverished save for what little the temple donated to them and other homeless. A cult, however, swept through and thus swept them up, luring them to a god of rebirth. Mantra and Whisper changed their names to reflect their new paths as Paladin and Cleric, set out to spread the word of their god (depends on campaign)

Whisper is a pastel pink drow with dark pink hair, dark pink horns, and dark magenta eyes. She has a pastel pink and black color palette her hair is long and loosely curled. Her horns curve back over her head like a goat, but are somewhat long. She’s a death cleric, lawful evil.

Mantra has red-magenta skin, dark red eyes, and long, straight black hair with a well kept mustache and goatee. His horns are similar but shorter and are tipped with black. His tail is thinner than Whisper’s but both are arrow-tipped. Paladin with the Oath of Watchers, lawful good.

Tareth (Tav) —

A half drow and eladrin who lived in the surface to cold parents. He was mostly a trophy child to showcase peace between a drow and eladrin. He desperately wanted to learn magic, but his parents never permitted it.

He kept journals practicing what magics he saw on the streets of Baldur’s Gate, but magic never quite cabe naturally to him. He eventually entered a pact with an ancient, primordial fae creature. It granted him beautiful magic. He kept it secret as a child and teenager.

His parents urged his studies towards law and diplomacy, and away from magic. He grew fond of his pseudo-parent patron, and it granted him one more gift: a brief moment of reprieve as it guided him to cast sleep on his parents, allowing him the time to leave and explore the city by himself, raise hell with his new powers. But it wouldn’t last, as he was abducted by mind flayers. (My first tav, which i romanced Astarion with but kinda sad i didn’t go w Gale. In my brain he’s with Gale tho and for a while I had a glitch where i romanced them both </3)

He has ashy gray skin with a pinkish hue and white hair with pink undertones. His eyes are lavender, which are normal for Eladrin but rare for drow. His hair is always meticulously curled into big, bouncy ringlets.

Huitzil (Durge) —

Brass Draconic High Elf sorcerer, efficient killer of Bhaal.

I only just started a Durge play through so I don’t know much yet, but I based him off Huitzilopochtli the hummingbird warrior god. He has dark skin and long, partially braided blackish-blue hair. He has black eyes with red-ringed teal irises. He has teal and white makeup over his eyes. I imagine him as the child of the “actual” Dragonborn Durge that Orin killed, that he was tadpoled by her as precaution but that might change. Again I don’t know much about Durge yet.

Davenon (Tav) —

A war cleric of Ilmater and survivor of Elturel. Large. Dark blue Mephistopheles bloodline, black and purple-topped pronghorns, dark blue hair with a hint of purple. He has one blue eye and one purple eye. His tail is pronged similar to his horns.

He was born and raised mostly in the countryside to a caring mother and father, his father was a tiefling and his mother a human. He eventually moved to Elturel in hopes of helping others in need. He wasn’t a Hellrider but acted as a medic for them and others during DIA. He’s rather serious but can hide it under a thin layer of charm. He’s not very dexterous, he’s rather lumbering, and relies mostly on strength with the aid of his spells.

It might make you happy to know that I've spent quite an amount of time thinking about a mythology and a religious tale for an OC idea that I had for one of your stories - the one with the drider pirate captain. I'm not trying to leverage that for anything, I just thought you might be flattered. Hope you're doing all right.

Having started my 2nd DND campaign about two and a half months ago-I thought I'd share how it's going.

After finishing our curse of strahd campaign my players were more than excited to get started with our homebrew campaign (which I decided to throw together after wotc pulled that shit with the ogl a bit ago) but the world was nowhere near finished so my players actually helped me build the world. Making gods, lore, prominent NPCs and even helping me with the world's timeline to some extent. I honestly feel like I got away with dumping the majority of world building onto them! (Which isn't true in the slightest but they helped like so much omg)

We started our session 0 with boundaries and expectations as well as adding some safe words people can use if things are getting uncomfortable. Which so far hasn't been used but I check in regularly anyway.

Session 1-3 we introduced everyone

Ukko- the fallen aasmair cleric of Anaca(the matron of the wilds)

Jolene- the tiefling artificer sorcerer (who owns a shop and has split custody of their nibbling Archie)

Colt- the forest gnome druid (not a follower of Anaca strictly but is following behind Ukko on a Spiritual journey)

Cas- the changeling bard who accidentally stumbled I to the material plane and is now incredibly confused why they can see and talk to ghosts and is now disguised as a human

Iona- the tiefling bard who is currently being exploited by the internship they have at the local Athenaeum (it's like a library/magic school roll with it)

Anyway - through a series of weird events the party discovers that people are being turned into animals by some miracle elixir! They track down the source- a green hag in the woods disguised as an old lady- they take her down and bring her in for a reward and then they spend the evening celebrating at a fancy inn :)

Session 4-5 was a sort of interlude where I was feeling out the next adventure I kept tossing them plot hooks but nothing stuck so they spent this time running Jolene's shop (an antique store that's a cover for illegal gun sales)

Session 6-8

We began with a time skip of about a week to get to the weekend that Jolene's nibbling comes over. Archie is like 14 and going through teifling puberty ( they started out human and are slowly becoming a teifling cuz of a bloodline thing) and they are introduced to the party at ✨ fantasy Red Robin's ✨ where while having a wonderful time - Cas saw the ghost of a pirate -who immediately clocked that Cas can see him- and he began harassing them into helping him get back to his ship! After some Scooby Doo hijinks of trying to convince the party that there's a g-g-g-ghost everyone decides to help the ghost but unsure of how to find a ship in a landlocked city they wait till the next day so colt can cast "locate object". Eventually they find their way to the underground trolley system of the city and find an abandoned tunnel leading to a cave system that's just covered in spiders. They end up getting past the illusion puzzle meant to take up at least 10 minutes in 2 minutes and find a room filled with giant spiders!

After the spiders are epically dispatched the party debates what all these spiders down here mean- one of the players brings up the water that's on the floor and discovers it's salty which makes no fuckin sense under a land locked city and while discussing if they should go to the next room they hear a voice from above say "looks like it's dinner time" and they look up to see a Drider on the ceiling of the cave

Next session we'll be starting in combat with the Drider ready to kick some ass 🕸️🕷️🤗 the PC of Ukko has been absolutely enthralled with the meaning of the underdarks existence in tbe world -which hasn't been mentioned before - but he absolutely adores the underdark :) did i mention they're all lvl 3? I'm pretty sure they can handle it

not sure about the name, but im thinking a male wizard drow who fucked up trying to get more power, got turned into a drider by lolth after failing her tests, and has since learned a lil humility, albeit a bit begrudgingly.

so after spending some time among the drow and then in the underdark, he decided to try seeing how things fair above ground now that he has a bit of a different and less strict drow-society-is-the-best perspective after having his goddess turn him into a spider centaur and all, lol, esp as it destroys his reputation and place in society after clawing his way up so painstakingly cuz of drow gender roles and general societal views.

torn on where to go there, in lore above ground driders are often pirates, which sounds fun, but i also like the idea of him taking a job at a circus for a bit to just... try and see more abt the world bc he's finally learned things like empathy and learning new perspectives and its the best option for something like a drider to be able to move around freely tbh. either/or since it allows him to see more of the realms.

basically a somewhat nicer drow (now), but not like.... super heroic or anything. still has a lot of magic skills as well.

Monster AU?

It has to do with different types of monsters. It can be from mythology (kraken, tunder bird, ghost) or folklore (some creature that possibly inhabits the region where you live. Like boogeyman, scarecrow, hellhound) and also our common monsters (vampire, werewolf, witch)!!

Fantasy AU?

The captain of the sky-pirate ship is a drider using a disguise spell. I'm planning a bit in the next session where a bad guy shows up and addresses her as "Dread Mistress" and dispels the disguise and leaves. She's going to respond to all questions about wtf is going on with "Dude, I super don't wanna talk about it" and trying to change the subject.
