Because I FORGOT my daily dragon yesterday I drew two last night. Sooo first up is Cynder!! Kind of just a warmup sketch, I wasn't being super picky about posing or angle here? I still think it turned out absolutely lovely here~

Aaaah, Erin!! Your tiktok got me excited about drawing again, the first thing I drew in at least 8 months was a small drawing of Peter with his jacket because I thought it was insanely cool, and now your tumblr is getting me excited about writing again, so thanks for getting me back to my hobbies i guess lol

I struggle with writing long stories (i can't remember when I last wrote something longer than 3k,,,) but honestly you inspire me to keep trying! When I first found LoF, you were only 4 chapters in but already 120k words, all that in barely a month worth of update, which was both impressive and terrifying, but now i hope one day I'll also be so passionate about a fic i manage to write 120k words in a month!

Aaahhhh!!! That's amazing!!! It's weird to think that my own art can inspire people, cause it feels like just yesterday I was the one following my fav artists and trying to be more like them? This makes me really happy to see :))

Yyyyyeahhh I'm a little bit insane. When it comes to word count, I used to really struggle to get over 500 words, which is hard to imagine now. I think it was because I had a hard time envisioning it in my head, and I also didn't understand some fundamentals of writing. The more I practiced, the easier it was to get out more words.

That, and I figured out my average writing time. I set up a "40 minute" timer 3 times, and then I did some math to see how much I wrote in those periods. The 1st 40 minutes I'd write 700 words(ish), the 2nd period I wrote 900, and the 3rd one was 1000.

So now I do a writing warm up to get my brain going (like doing art warmups or stretches before you run), then I write for LoF/whatever I'm working on that day doing a "write for 40, break for 10-20 (depends on the day), write for 40"

I set up a word count goal like "I'd like to get to 10,000 words today." I look and see that the day before, I had written to 6,000. That means I'd have to write 4,000 words. If my average time is 1,000 per 40 minutes and I take plenty of breaks, I could probably do it within a couple hours. But at the end of the day, I listen more to my brain and sometimes it's a 2,000 word day or even a 400 word. Sometimes, nothing at all. I find that listening to the time is more important than listening to my word count goal itself.

Keep in mind that this is just my average time. Always plan around for what works for you. At the end of the day, it's more important that you're having fun while you write!

Inazuma Eleven Whiteboard but make it Red Matador

Ok. To give some context. Yesterday, tumblr user @ // marmolao opened up a public Ina11 whiteboard. It seemed pretty fun, even if I was a bit afraid at first of joining.

...But then the impulses won, and I drew Redomata's best duo :') (Plus an autism creature to warmup).

I thought Pedro and Igor would be lonely here at first, but then............... This Rafael appeared. So beautiful, I love it 😭🦇

Grad School Q2 - Week 0

I'm going to try this again and hopefully not get buried in homework after week 5 again because I LEARNED MY LESSON. I WILL BE PROACTIVE! I WILL NOT PROCRASTINATE!

The pre-quarter assignments were a lot of "pitch several narratives, one will become your final" stuff, which is sooooo much work, like, guys! I don't have this many stories in me just ready to go? So, all tomorrow I'm going to be out there struggling to come up with some ideas for a 24-page comic I'd theoretically want to write... just so I can not choose them lol

I came up with a short horror narrative yesterday that I'm actually proud of, but it took days of brainstorming... I think I'm just going to generate a bunch of random words and just make them into something at this point.

The only assignment that was actually drawing was anatomy (not thrilled at this being a required course), which was kind of just "draw a figure in your style and show how you built it"

So, I found the first full-body picture I saw on pinterest and drew this:

I was like, ugh, I should really do this digitally since I don't have a working scanner right now. Guess this can just be a warmup. Also, I looked at the discussion board and someone else chose a very similar pose and mine looked weak compared to theirs, so I went to TRUSTY OLD the pose archives for this one:

But, I was like, this doesn't feel like my style, ya know? It feels like a figure drawing. (I think if I had just finished it, it would have looked fine...) Nah, I decided, hey, I've drawn two men with basically the same body type. Let me draw from imagination since I totally know what a guy looks like now.

So, yay? Not a single reference used for this one! Love that I, for no good reason, made myself do this simple assignment 3 times. Now you see why I'm so slow at art. Smh.

A quick and sort of messed up Satora from yesterday, Did it as a warmup doodle but it ended up being the only thing I drew.

It's been a couple of days since I posted, but I have been drawing something every day. On Mother's Day I did my warmup and gesture drawings, and then decided I wanted to try and add features to faces.

The next day I managed some gesture drawings, but was mostly obsessed with redlining the features I drew the day before and then attempting redraws of them. It was around here that I noticed my faces felt really flat without my under sketches, so I tried to reason about why.

Yesterday I did gestures, and decided to draw a face without reference to see if I improved. I feel like it looks pretty decent. I'm sure there are some things I could fix, for example I think the left side of the face feels just a bit too wide to me. I'm also adding today's gestures to this post as well, as I decided to up the amount from 4 gestures a day to 6.

I'll probably upload again later on today once I figure out what I want to try next. I might go back to skull studies, and start trying to understand some perspective, I think. We'll see, though, I might also want to try more complex face studies too.
