My gorgeous old boy, Nedgie, enjoying his retirement 💕 Nedge came into my life in 2012 as a 16yo schoolmaster. Just the thing I needed after a big horse accident that landed me in hospital with a broken tailbone, and a permanent injury to my hip and femur. I needed a safe horse who I could just go out and have fun with. I needed to get my confidence back, and find my love for being in the saddle again. Nedge was a successful showjumper who needed a bit of rebuilding, and to come back into work - It seemed perfect. I wasn't sure back then if he was going to be a permanent fixture in my life or not, but I knew we could help each other in the short term. As far as becoming my next 'forever' horse, he was everything I didn't want. He was too big, too old, grumpy, plain, he was a windsucker, a hard keeper, had a few health issues, and was a VERY opinionated. We clashed like crazy most of the time - just as stubborn and hot-headed as each other, but in the showjumping ring we were a team. After I learned to trust him and sit a bit colder, we had years of fun. He took me up the grades, jumping to 1.05m and beyond. We did night comps, HRCAV, freshmans jumping, and even a reining show!
