I wanted to do the draw your squad meme by @thelynxiedoodles but with my Friday night D&D party for the Exandria game. Mud had to be his least favorite thing, mud combined with a jungle planet with the associated sticky warmth made this a hell of the galaxy. Captain Firmus Piett had crashed on a hell-hole of a planet, and there where creatures actively hunting him and the other five survivors of his shuttle, three had succumbed to their injuries. As for now they were headed to the other crash site, his army sergeant, Dresk, agile as a lizard had seen it after climbing the trees. A plume of dark smoke about two kilometers from their own crash. They were close enough now for him to catch the acrid scent of burning engines and the captain signaled his men to fan out, they had no idea of the identity of the other downed ship. He had a scavanged riffle in hand as they entered the artificial clearing and he saw the snubfighter, x-wing, foils distorted by both foliage and crash but the canopy was absent, pilot must have ejected, the droid-compartment was empty as well. Dresk approached the ship and searched it, careful about the hot fuselage.

“Sergeant?” Piett asked in a low voice, hazel eyes scanning the area for danger.

“Human or humanoid pilot, controls for someone about 160-180 cm, there’s some blood specks, I think it was an automatic ejection or the astromech ejected. No active homing beacon. Collecting what data is still in the computer to see if we can activate the signal from the pilot.”

“See if you can identify them as well,” the captain said. The rebels were good at concealing their identities but there might be one of those times they had slipped.

“Captain! Eyes on the pilot!” One of the stormtroopers was pointing up into the canopy, Piett followed his gesture and grimaced when he saw the dangling pilot, the orange jumpsuit clearly visible against the greenery, but they dangled over 15 meters above the ground.

“Check for life,” he ordered and another trooper started chucking his armor to ease the climb, he saw Dresk exit the wreckage and do the same.

“Sir, how should we proceed if they are alive?”

“Get them down sergeant Dresk. Trooper, let us see if we can get an energy source from this ship.”

I'm only paying attention to it now, but there's a ド (Do) before "Rosinante." That makes Rosi's (unused) name Donquixote Drosinante. It matches the earlier version of his father's name, Donquixote Dresking.

Maybe Oda wanted the family to carry a hint of the royal linage at Dressrosa Kingdom in their names, but later scrapped off the idea.

Is this supposed to be him, too? A visual similarity with Luffy is plain on sight.

The texts at the bottom, I suppose, read "助けにいくドフラ" (very vague but I assume it means 'I'll go help, Dofla") and "つらくあたる" (Something along the lines of "aggressive").

Doflamingo's Past: The initial concept

Some old information but I don't see around a lot, scan credits to Redon. These are from One Piece magazine vol. 3.

Zooming in,

- Doflamingo at 5 enjoys his life as Tenryubito.

- His father (Donquixote Dressking) who looks tough and serious ("righteous thinker", "friends with Cobra") refuses antipathy and as a result was transferred to a non-WG member country along with his wife and his only son.

- Doflamingo's mother can't survive the foul living condition and dies.

- Doflamingo wanting to become Tenryubito takes his father's head back to Mariejeoise at the age of 10.

- Doflamingo is declined by Tenryubito who try to kill him.

- Doflamingo flees and survives. He develops a goal to destroy the world.

- Around 15, he forms a crime syndicate "Downs" (ダウンズ) and is revered as the charismatic boss.

- His subordinates were Pica, Trebol, Diamante and Corazon, there's also Vergo (Vergo's other name in the bracket is written as "Sir Dean").

- Corazon here isn't Doflamingo's brother.

- Around when Doflamingo was 17, Roger was executed and he was inspired by the man to pursue piracy, his goal changed to "becoming the pirate king." He continues operating underworld as Joker.

Nothing much here, I like the observation that Gatz announcing the fight between Doflamingo and Luffy makes it seem like an extension of Colosseum battle. That's a neat way to tie it up.

I wish I could read the JP text myself but it seems Viola's case was something like a Stockholm syndrome after all.

Personal highlight would be Rosinante eating his DF before meeting Sengoku (which means Sengoku didn't immediately find him. Rosi probably survived all by himself for quite some time), and Doflamingo developing the habit to smile at everything from a "certain point onwards." Imagine Rosinante returning to his brother who now smiles all the time. That is terrifying, I feel like it adds so much to Rosi's face having the artificial smile on him.

The next several weeks kept me very busy. It started with announcing to the crew aboard the Scabbard about my intention to be Mand'alor. To no great surprise everyone either readily accepted it, were overjoyed, in the case of Scabbard, or were indifferent about it, in the case of the twins. I then informed Volta of my intention to start the change in earnest, the changing from pirates to mercenaries. She insisted that her people were ready and those who were opposed to the change were already taken care of. A few days later the people that Helen had contacted had arrived. I had Helen put them to work with training the newly formed mercenaries. Iuliu Hilra also proved to be useful at acquiring weapons and equipment, which she sold to me at a discounted price. Rhez made regular reports to Dresk about the goings on and vice versa. I also had Iuliu acquire a personal translator so that Rhez could communicate with everyone more easily. Xan'rra eventually showed up and insisted on advising me. Mivota followed me everywhere and would get into arguments with Xan'rra about what course I should take next. I tried to get them to compromise but didn't get anywhere so I gave up. Tali's manager had booked a tour around the Core to Tali's dismay, meaning that they would be leaving soon. So Tali made sure to spend every night with me. Sometimes with Alephi and sometimes with Mivota. Hell a few times it was all three and they really worked me over. But all things continue on and Tali and Uri left. That left me to manage my new company. It continued smoothly like this for several weeks until a contact reached out to me. A senator I escorted for back during my time on Coruscant.
