Okay, I need something about Nightmare. To tell the truth, I basically need something on Undertale and AU, but there are no requests on this topic, so I'm doing my best

🍎 Nightmare x Reader headcanons Accused without guilt 📚

Nightmare has visited other universes. The negative emotions he found there attracted him, but one universe he was drawn to seemed strange to him. There were a lot of positive emotions, but there was a corner in which negative emotions accumulated. This piqued his curiosity and he decided to go there, ready at any moment to go back to his castle, away from such an unpleasant positive. The place he found himself in was strange. It reminded him of a castle. Stone walls, and the only weak source of light was the candle you were sitting in. You were the source of negativity in this universe, and there was enough of it for him to notice it and pay attention to you. You looked like you rarely left this gloomy, empty room, there were dark circles under your eyes from lack of sleep, and in principle you didn't look very well, but as soon as he appeared in the room, your gaze darted to him, even though he was hiding in the dark. The fact that you noticed him couldn't help but make him smile faintly

He asked you why you were in this room, and when he heard your voice, he frowned a little. Your voice was quiet, hoarse, as if you hadn't spoken in a very long time, but you told him, even though you needed to take breaks. You're obviously not used to talking for so long. You told him that you were locked in this room when you were a child and since then you have hardly left this room, and the only people who came to you were those who brought you food or hurt you again. Your words made him frown harder. Your story reminded him of his past. He asked you why you were locked up, but you couldn't answer his question. They never told you the clear reasons, only what you considered nonsense, like that you were cursed, that you attracted failures. It's like from the moment you were born, everyone you met thought you were bad, but no one could tell you why. The more he listened to you, the more anger burned in his chest. He hated when innocent people were being tortured, and he wasn't going to let it continue

The only thing you managed to ask him was who he was. Nightmare said he was the king of negativity, and then he disappeared. He didn't see your faint, faint smile and quiet gratitude for talking to you. You were trying to sleep again. Only in your dreams were you free. It would seem that you could accept your fate and then you might feel a little better, but you couldn't. You hated those who locked you up, even if you once considered them your loved ones. It's been too long for you to continue to have any warm feelings for them. The screams and noise outside brought you out of your slumber. You didn't know what was going on, but you sat there listening to the screams start and end. This continued until the screams finally died down. You didn't know what happened, but you weren't sure if you wanted to be found or not. Both options could have ended with your death. When the door opened, you squeezed your eyes shut because of the bright light and heard voices. Unfamiliar voices that said that, apparently, Nightmare was talking about you. One of the skeletons, and it was them, helped you get up and reach the portal through which you entered the castle of the king of negativity

You were able to see your mysterious guest better and he felt that the negativity in your soul had not gone away, but now he could use it to his advantage. Just as he took Killer, Dust, and Horror to himself, so he took you. He sensed magic in you that was fueled by the pain you had experienced throughout your life, and with proper guidance, your magic could become a powerful force. But first you had to at least start living. He assigned it to Killer, who explained to you where everything was in your new home, he told you about everything, and Nightmare watched you from the sidelines. But he didn't expect to find you in his library. You were sitting right on the floor, quietly muttering to yourself the text written in the book. It was like you were trying to figure out how to pronounce certain words. He watched your efforts for a few minutes and finally interrupted you, asking what you were doing there. You quietly told him that you would like to read the books that were in his library, if he didn't mind. Your request seemed strange, but he saw no reason to refuse it. You often began to come to the library, and Nightmare watched you, feeling satisfied with how books fascinated you, as if it were the most interesting thing you had seen in your entire life, and perhaps it really was

Every day you were filled with life. You looked better, you spoke more confidently and louder, but even when you had a smile on your lips, Nightmare felt the darkness, the negativity that settled in your soul. You couldn't get rid of it even if you wanted to, and he wouldn't let you. You were one of his confidants, you were the one who connected his life with negativity, even if you haven't fully realized it yet. He wasn't ready to admit that he saw himself in you in the past. But he didn't have anyone who could help him, but he was able to find you and now he wasn't going to let you go. But he didn't know that you were and wasn't going to leave. You were grateful to Nightmare for saving you, and you weren't going to betray him. You were bound to him until your death, and nothing could have changed that

4th!: Dream from what I've heard has a positive aura, due to being the guardian of said emotions, and in turn Nightmare has a negative one. What if that aura grew to be a bit too much and becomes overwhelming? He might need to go to the reader for comfort/help...

*Nightmare will never admit that his negative aura can become overwhelming, especially not to those he’s not close to

*however, there is one person that he can rely on, and that’s you. You are the only person who is aware of how overwhelming his aura can become

*so anytime this happens, you are the first person he will come to for help/comfort. You will keep him close and won’t let him go until you are sure he’s calmed down and that his aura is back to the way it should be

*the first time this had happened had caught you off guard. You were aware of his negative aura, but you didn’t think it would get to this extent

*so now you’ll keep him close, hug him/cuddle with him, whatever else may come to mind, until he calms down

*Nightmare will never admit this outright, but he does appreciate your help

The room is quiet, the air is thick with tension.

The smoothness of the pawn's peice feels good in their hand. They turn it this way and that, watching the eyelights of their opponent flick across the board.

The skeletal king reaches out and moves his knight. The peice seems almost as though it's taunting them.

They set the pawn down, observing the board. They almost sympathized with the pieces, seeing their fallen comrads in the captured peices.

Was this what everything came to? All the blood and lives lost?

A game of chess. That's what determined whether or not the sacrifices were worth it. Perhaps the gods had indeed abandoned this world.

The blood beneath their nails is particularly noticable against the light colored wood of their queen.

Perhaps they'd have ballads written of them, the fallen hero. The last of the ones who fought.

The one who lost.

They squash the thought, placing down the peice and capturing the knight.

"You're clever, little knight. I imagine we could've been close, given more desirable circumstances."

His bishop takes the place that had once belonged to the lighter peice.

They finally let a grin come to their face. He ignored their true plan completely.

"Well, I think we can both agree that you've never been the most imaginative."

Their armor clinks faintly, moving their remaining bishop to sit in front of his king.

"Checkmate."

Faint gasps echo through the room. The king's eyelight shifts, become fuzzy and then shrinking to a sharp pinprick. The pinprick flicks to them, burning with an intensity they're unfamiliar to.

The king rises from his seat, seizing the knight's wrist. As he brushes the board, the peices move to their proper places, as though they had never been touched.

His smug grin tugged into a snarl and their heart falls. An old warning rings in their head, one they wish they had heeded; never trust the nightmare king. An attempt to pull their arm from his vice grip proves futile.

Suddenly, he's stood directly in front of them. His next words leave him as easy as breath; "Marry me."

Dreamtale (Nightmare) He is probably the least affectionate guy here, and in the whole world, but he does have his weak spots when he’s feeling a bit less defensive… Nightmare likes little things like you making him his favorite drink, tidying his bookshelves, watering his clearly dying plants he likes to keep outside. Notice how everything he likes doesn’t require his presence? He likes it the best when it’s subtle. You don’t have to tell him what you did, he’ll notice eventually. Something New (Killer) Killer likes affection when it can boost his ego. For example, Killer prefers when you ask what he’d like to do and then participate in whatever activity he feels like doing, it shows a certain kind of selflessness. Another example would be just making sure he’s taking care of himself, because we all know that isn’t really happening. He likes the attention you give to him and his well being. Most of the time, he acts like he doesn’t care or shrugs it off, but don’t be fooled. It’s just the only way for him to grip on his last hope that he didn’t completely fall for you. His feelings are shaking him up quite a bit. Dreamtale (Dream) Dream isn’t asking for things often, he’s more used to giving attention to others than people doing so towards him. But since he’s with you, everything has changed. You made him come out of his shell, you made him feel better about being “selfish” and being himself. That’s when he started showing you that his favorite thing to do with you was cuddle. Simple, right? Well, for him, it was a big deal. And when you guys started to make it a regular thing, he felt like he was in heaven. Just a hug from you, his face buried in your neck, is enough to charge his battery up. Aftertale (Geno) Geno misses affection, the warm feeling he used to have when he was in company of his family and friends back then. It got taken away from him, and he suffered enough. When he met and eventually started dating you, it’s like all those feelings came back, like he could feel that same joy again. He loves receiving compliments, any type of praise towards him makes the little part of his soul left warm up. He’s easily embarrassed, but he is like that. He loves you, and even more if you can easily word up your affection. --- I hope this suits what you asked for :))

Nightmare

Oh my, he's actually head over heels.

hi!! it's been a while, hasn't it? c:

first of all, how are you doing?? i haven't been here for so long that i'm even ashamed

of the second... what about the bad guys' reaction to a y/n they haven't seen in a long time? c;

I'm trying to remember, my memory isn't too good ;w; but I'm doing well! Been working on my other fluff blogs, especially my newest one (it's a blog for fluffcanons for things I don't have a blog for, haha!) also I only take two at a time! I only wrote for Nightmare since this one turned out pretty long!

*Nightmare, while he won't admit it outright, he does miss you after not seeing you in so long

*He's curious to how you're doing and if you're well, and... if you still love/care about him as before

*So seeing you again definitely caught him off guard, since it was all of a sudden. He was called to take care of a mystery "intruder" like who the hell would have known where he is??

*Only to find you being held back by Killer and Dust. He immediately got them off of you by grabbing them with his tendrils and throwing them off you. "Get the hell off of them!" He yelled at them, making them scramble to get out of the room.

*"Well, it's certainly nice to see you too, Nightmare." You chuckled a bit as you crossed your arms, looking back at the goopy skeleton in front of you.

*without really thinking about it… he actually hugged you, which surprised you. The hug didn’t last long, however, as he pulled away and looked back at you. “…where the hell have you been? Have you been alright?”

*he continued to ask you questions, which you answered to calm him down, but he didn’t plan on letting you leave so soon. He was either sitting close to you or holding your hand

You know that person who only shows affection through sarcastic remarks and mean-spirited laughs? Yeah, that’s exactly him;

He seems to take delight in your little daily blunders.  One moment you'll never forget was when you burned both of your dinners, and Nightmare, being the considerate partner he is, merely scoffed and said that it would make a perfect treat for Killer;

Then there was the time you tripped over your own feet (more than once, actually), and Nightmare joked that he’d get you one of those child harness backpacks so you wouldn’t keep falling flat on your face — all while grinning at you and sipping his bitter coffee.

Sometimes he doesn’t even comment at all when something happens — like when you wear a shirt inside out or mismatched socks — but you can feel his gaze following you, just waiting for you to notice something off or unusual about yourself;

And when you finally do, he can’t help but let out a sly chuckle;

Pet names? Forget about them. The only one you can recall being genuinely caring (and that was only when you pretended to be asleep while he whispered it to you) was “dear.” The rest were just condescending nicknames that sounded more like what he’d call his friends (minions, in his words): brat, idiot, and once, he even called you a dumb puppy just because you didn’t notice your mouth was covered in food!

Despite how deeply he could irritate you, there was also that hidden tender side that, although rarely seen, always left your lips quivering and your eyes on the verge of tears;

That time you burned dinner? Despite all his nasty comments, he was the one who cleaned up the mess and prepared something simple for you to eat later (all while comforting you in his own peculiar way, of course);

And those moments when you trip and almost fall flat on your face? Sure, he’ll never miss an opportunity to tease you, but recently, he’s started staying closer, with one of his tentacles hovering nearby, ready to catch you if you falter;

And you can’t forget the times he watches you while you ramble about your interests. Besides the occasional remark, he usually just observes you in silence, a glimmer of admiration in that beautiful orb of his;

But what moves you the most is how he’s always around;

Nightmare doesn’t need to eat — he himself says that something as mundane as food isn’t necessary for his survival — but he always insists on sitting with you during meals;

Nightmare doesn’t need to sleep; he lost that need many years ago. Yet, he still lies down next to you every night. Over time, you’ve grown accustomed to the soft light of the lamp by his bed, as he prefers to read while you sleep since he doesn’t need rest;

For someone who claims to be so magnificent, he certainly seems to cherish this more ordinary life with you.

Você sabe aquela pessoa que só sabe demonstrar afeição através de comentários sarcásticos e risadas maldosas? É, é exatamente ele. 

Ele parece divertir-se com seus pequenos infortúnios cotidianos - um momento que você nunca vai esquecer foi quando você conseguiu queimar o jantar de vocês dois e Nightmare, sendo um bom amante, apenas bufou e disse que aquilo seria um ótimo petisco para Killer;

Teve também a vez em que você tropeçou nos próprios pés (mais de uma vez, na verdade), e Nightmare comentou que iria comprar aquelas mochilas guias de criança para você, assim ele conseguiria evitar com que você caisse de cara no chão tantas vezes assim - tudo isso enquanto sorria com escárnio na sua direção, tomando aquele maldito café amargo dele;

As vezes ele nem comenta nada quando algo acontece - como quando você veste alguma blusa do avesso, ou usa meias de cores diferentes -, mas você sente aquele olho perseguir sua figura por onde você passa, só esperando você notar algo de estranho ou diferente em você;

E quando você finalmente nota, ele ainda solta uma risadinha maliciosa;

E os apelidos carinhosos? Pode esquecer. O único que você se lembra de ser amoroso (e ainda foi quando você fingiu estar dormindo enquanto ele sussurrou ele para você) foi “querida”, de resto foram apenas apelidos condescendente e claramente algo que ele chamaria os amigos/minions dele: pirralha, idiota, uma vez ele te chamou de dumb puppy só porque você não viu que sua boca estava suja de comida!

Contudo, por mais que ele te irritasse profundamente, tinha também aquele lado carinhoso escondido, que por mais raramente que aparecesse, ainda sim sempre deixava seus lábios tremidos e seus olhos com vontade de chorar;

Aquela vez que você queimou o jantar? Por mais que ele tenha feito vários comentários maldosos, foi ele o responsável por limpar toda a bagunça e ainda fazer algo simples para vocês comerem depois (tudo isso enquanto ainda confortava você, do jeito estranho dele, claro);

E às vezes em que você tropeça e quase cai de cara? Óbvio, ele não vai deixar de tirar sarro da sua cara, mas ultimamente ele começou a andar mais coladinho a você, com um dos tentáculos dele rondando seu entorno, pronto para qualquer passo em falso seu;

E claro, não tem como esquecer os momentos em que ele olha para você quando você começa a tagarelar de seus interesses - tirando um comentário aqui e ali, ele normalmente apenas encarava você em silêncio, um certo brilho de admiração naquela bolinha azul dentro da órbita ocular dele;

Porém, aquilo que mais comove você é o fato dele sempre estar por perto;

Nightmare não precisa comer - como ele mesmo diz, ele não necessita de algo tão entediante como comer para sobreviver -, mas ele sempre faz questão de sentar com você durante as refeições;

Nightmare não precisa dormir, ele perdeu essa necessidade a muitos anos atrás, mas mesmo assim ele sempre deita ao seu lado - com o tempo, você se acostumou com a fraca luz do abajur ao lado da cama dele, já que, por não dormir, ele prefere ler enquanto você dorme;

Para alguém que se diz ser tão grandioso, ele definitivamente parece gostar dessa vida mais mundana ao seu lado.

First kiss? How? 💕

Sans (Undertale) Sans wouldn't be the one making the first move, that's for sure. You'd have to be the one initiating or at least give him a sign that you would want to try out kissing. He's a bit romantic without even trying, so it'd be after a dinner date. It didn't need to be classy, you like him for his simplicity. If it had been a while since you guys were together, you would've been thinking about it for a while and would feel a bit relieved. But if it hasn't been a while, he would be surprised by your boldness. It'd be a soft smooch on the mouth. Red (Underfell) More straight forward, and it would happen not long after meeting if there was immediate flirting. If it's more of a slow burn, it would happen a short bit after getting together for real. After that, he's definitely not letting you go, he's very clingy sometimes and probably more than you. Probably annoying about it too, but tells you he's just teasing with a smirk on his face (he's not, he's hurt if you reject him). Blue (Underswap) Romance lord. Literally thinks it's wrong to kiss before dating, only hand holding allowed. If you meet him at a party or a bar, try to flirt and things go hot too quickly, he'll be the one to reject you. If you're his type (probably, I mean he doesn't have very high standards), he'll ask you out for a date the week after, he's a very busy skeleman! If you think you can kiss him after the first date, well... you guys aren't really there yet. He's very patient about it, and should be too if you want him that bad. After all this courtship, you find out he was worth the wait. Dream (Dreamtale) Another one that you'll need to make the first move for. It's not that he's shy, but that he feels like it's not his thing to do stuff like that. Add a bit of hyperselfconsciousness and awkwardness, and you have him when it comes to physical intimacy and romantic feelings. He can feel if you have good intentions or not, and if your heart is pure enough something between you two COULD happen. You also need his trust, and have to convince him that he can let himself loose more often. Nightmare (Dreamtale) Just like Dream, it's not that he's shy. For him it's because he just really hates it. If you want a chance at it, you have to take him by surprise, which isn't easy to start with. Also, you need to have a good friendship already or a nice enough relationship if you don't want him to rip you apart (and not in any of the possible good ways, I promise you). He's not gonna just blush and look away like in a cute comic, he's not a tsundere or whatever, Nightmare will stare into your soul until you apologise. Good luck guys! Ink (___tale) Ink thinks it's just a fun thing, if he knows you enough. Ask him and he'd probably do it, not directly on the mouth though. Of course he knows the meaning, and would ask you if you realise he's not really the type of guy you should consider as a future lover, but if you're sure that there's no other feelings involved, he's fine. But like... why do that though? Is it because you're curious about how a skeleton with an actual mouth feels like? Error (Errortale) Ouch, very hard to do that in general. He's a bit more easy to fall in love with than Ink or Nightmare, but he's still not the lovey-dovey guy from your dreams, and he knows that, and it irritates him. Even if he finds interest in you, or even loves you, it's hard for him to fight his phobia and fears. You need to be patient, and let him come to you first. Killer (Something New) Another one that doesn't really wait up on things like courting or relationship stages. You like him? What the hell but damn he likes you too so let's go! He has close to no experience, and it's messy, the kiss and your face after... because his tears are definitely tainting it. He knows you're a freak anyway, so he doesn't try to avoid that. Author note: I just wanted to give something during my winter break. A lot happened since my last post. I wrote something for Dust but Tumblr doesn't like it.
