Living on photos from my archives right now. This is a Bourbon Rose, most likely Madame Ernest Calvat, that I was growing in my old garden in San Diego. I love the old fashioned bloom form, the soft pink coloration and especially the intoxicating fragrance of this rose. Bourbon roses are supposed to grow reasonably well here in Austin, so I am clinging to the hope that I will be able to grow some of the beautiful roses of this class here as well in the future. But first my garden has to recover from the frost damage that the arctic blast caused here in Austin. From the few roses that I have grown here so far I might have lost one poor ‘Bolero’ rose to the freezing temperatures. The others may have survived.
