Mais can you recommend some underrated solid romance driven Pak shows? I've watch most of the mainstream ones. TIA! Also I'm already watching yunhi in case you were gonna rec that.

ek toh "romance driven" already narrows down the field SO much which is necessarily not a good thing for me cuz i haven't watched a lot of Pakistani dramas to begin with. also I feel like nowadays the definition of "romance" has changed. it's a fairly new wave of dramas that actually show the physical intimacy aspect of romance in PakDramas. otherwise the older PakDramas wouldn't necessarily have such things (and the ones they did unn pe Pemra ban laga deta tha xD). ab toh if anyone says "romance drama" toh I immediately think they are asking for something like Tere Bin which...bhayee aisa yahan aur koi product nahin hai.

The Great Thai Communal Wardrobe Advent Giveaway!

I've currently collected/documented 45 items of clothing (and accessories) that have reappeared in various Thai series over the past four years - these are only the ones that have been discovered, I'm sure there are more.

These 45 items are spread over 38 shows and are worn by 78 different characters (mains, sides, and random extras).

At the most, one item has been worn by 8 different people in 6 series, several have been used 3-5 times, but the majority have only appeared in two different shows (so far!).

There has been one recent show which has featured 15 items of clothing which have been worn in other series! The next highest number is 11 in a show which aired last year. And then the 3rd and 4th spot go to a show from two years ago (with 10 items) and one from this year (with 6).

I have currently ordered all the items by the number of times used and then by air date (with the highest and earliest first), but once I start posting them I will add any new discoveries to the end of the list (from 46 onwards).

And I'd like your involvement to post them!

Between now and Nov 15th send me an ask or a DM with one of the following requests to either have the item dedicated to yourself or you can gift it to another blog. (Anon is also fine but I'd suggest using an obscure emoji so you can identify yourself).

You can request:

A random number in the list (1-45)

The name of a particular show

A specific character or actor

Something funny or stylish or that I think you might like

A specific item (if you have a pretty confident idea of one that exists)

And a specific date you would like your post published if you have one (I'm mainly trying to decide what order to publish them all in)

A point to note: I've already published number 3 and number 6 (although the latter is now wrongly-numbered 😥 so I might consider editing the original post...again).

My plan is to post two a day from Dec 1st in the run up to Christmas, like an advent calendar, so I've set the deadline for requests early enough to give me time to organise the posts (since work does get in the way sometimes).

They manage to order their drinks and it's a small miracle they do. The atmosphere is so thick you could cut it with a knife. Or with one of the daggers Vegas and Kinn keep looking at each other.

But it seems like Porsche is still not dispirited by this whole ordeal. He recommends beverages to everyone and he is smiling and laughing and chatting away and pointing out things on the menu. Pete appreciates Porsche's efforts, he really does, but the tension is still getting to him. Vegas sits next to him, motionless. It's like all his suppressed anger has petrified him, turned him into a statue, glaring out at humanity until the end of days. It's unsettling. And distracting.

A pearl of sweat is working down its path behind Pete's left ear. All the heavy curtains and vibrant carpets and overstuffed cushions are smothering him. It’s too hot and too stuffy. And oh God, the scented candles. He already feels the headache building.

It's getting harder to follow the conversation. Pete knows he hasn't said or done anything helpful yet. It's bothering him. His shirt clings uncomfortably to a tender spot on his back. He probably should take off his jacket but - oh, right. He abandons this thought. What is taking them so long? He could really use that drink right now. Even though he doesn't remember what he ordered.

"Pete, are you okay? Is everything alright?"

Pete raises his head to see Porsche looking at him, to see everyone looking at him. He forces a smile. He must have zoned out there for a moment.

"Are you okay? We can go if you want. We can go right now."

Vegas is already pushing his chair back, ready to leave immediately, his face a contradicting mixture of unease and relief.

The forced smile on Pete's face grows wider. This is their one chance to cool things down a little. They can't just leave like that. Vegas and Kinn would never agree to a meeting like this again. Note even for him and Porsche.

"I'm fine. Really, I'm fine."

He puts a hand on Vegas' leg and squeezes once. A reassurance. An apology. He turns his attention back to Porsche, ignoring the accusing look Vegas throws at him for their thwarted escape.

"I'm sorry. Did you ask me something?"

"Yeah, I did. What do you want to order?"

"Oh. I...I don't know yet."

Pete stares at the open menu in front of him. When did that get there? He picks the card up and moves it closer to the candle, an attempt to decipher the tiny font in the dim light.

And yet, he can't. It's like the letters are shaking on the paper - or is it his hand that's shaking? There really must be something wrong with this place. Too hot. Too stuffy. Everything making it harder to breathe.

He needs fresh air. Fresh air, and a quiet, peaceful cigarette, and he will be fine. He is fine but after that he will be even more fine. And Vegas will also be fine. For five minutes. Alone with Kinn and Porsche. Surely, he will.

"I...I need five minutes. I'll be right back."

He pushes himself to his feet and feels the others watching him. Is it just his imagination or are they awfully quiet? Haven't they been awfully quiet for some time now? Again, he forces a smile and takes a step. Or at least he tries to before the world leans to its right. Before his legs start to fold under him. Before he tries to steady himself but only grabs empty air. Before a rapidly growing blackness takes over everything.

He wakes up to Vegas leaning over him. A familiar sight. A déjà-vu. But this time around, his emotions are easy to read. Concern. Fear. A smidge of anger. Relief.

He can't have been out for long because he's still on the floor of this godforsaken restaurant. And Kinn and Porsche are still here. Hovering behind Vegas, uncertain, their demeanour laced with worry.

Dammit. It isn't sweat that's sticking the shirt to his back. So the cut must be deeper than he thought. That stupid machete. What kind of 21st century assassin shows up with a machete?! And with such horrible timing at that. Vegas would have cancelled their plans without a second thought if he knew about their unwelcome visitor, so he obviously couldn't tell him. At least not until later. Because they'd have a corpse and a lot of security issues to take care of.

But in all honesty, getting ambushed and successfully slashed by a machete-swinging buffoon like that - Pete is glad Chan is no longer forced to bear witness to such an embarrassment. He would have started hurling knives at him to "sharpen his reflexes".

Man, he really does miss Chan.

He must have zoned out again because now, there is a hand on his shoulder and Porsche's head is floating next to Vegas', looking dispirited after all.

Pete smiles, and this time he doesn't have to force it. Their endeavour was doomed from the beginning, assassin, or no assassin. But at least they gave it a shot. Chuckling, he looks up at their puzzled faces.

"So, do you guys think they forgot about our drinks?"

10. Bodyguard

I think my favorite for this is still Where Your Eyes Linger. I like it when there's mutual devotion between them and the bodyguard won't do anything about it because they respect the line. It's the closest we ever really come to doing class difference stuff earnestly. Big fan of Han Gi Chan's perpetually exhausted eyes in these shows, too.

15. Love Triangle

It feels maybe a bit cliché to choose Light On Me, but it really is the only time I've ever enjoyed this trope or thought it felt real.

What makes this particular love triangle work is that no one is trying to harm anyone, and everyone is aware of it. In fact, the romantic rivals actively try to help each other and avoid fights the entire time. I also love it because Woo Tae Kyung is not passive about the drama unfolding around him, and actively pushes both guys to step up and be present for him. It's an excellent show about how being honest about who you are and your affections strengthens all relationships involved.

Hi Mais so I was initially very interested in tere bin mainly cuz I find this whole haveli meets city plot super interesting...do you have any drama recs with this concept? Preferably with maybe someone like Maya in it?

the only Maya show I can think of matching this concept is Diyar e Dil. i have read that Malaal-e-Yaar is a show that had the same-ish tropes as TB with the bad boy feudal lord marrying a strongminded city girl. it was quite a success too when it was on air.

I'm sure Porchay takes many things after Porsche but the most apparent thing for me is that both have the biggest fucking balls on the planet. I was watching Porchay approach his celebrity crush and instead of asking for a normal thing like a hug or a selfie he straight up asks him if he would be his guitar tutor and I thought "yeah he was definitely raised by the guy who spends his days pissing off several mafia bosses just for shits and giggles"

Okay, this manhwa is cute. The art is pretty nice and you easily fall in love with the characters, the art development is awesome and at the end is like woah.

The story is quite interesting, all the online and offline relationship is cute and the way they development feelings for each other is cute and lovely. The season one is interesting and its involves all the love process between Jaehyun and Eunsung. If I'm being honest the 1st season is like a k-drama but i liked, the tragic past, the trauma and the drama is pretty good (aLTHOUGH I DIDNT LIKE THE "LOVE TRIANGLE" poor Jae and fuck Jungwoo)

The second season is concentrated on the game and adult life. I really liked this season (I'm not a game person so the plot of the game itself was like huh. but i like that the game has connected the protagonist) All the romantic stuff is cute, obviously you want more and more.

I like that Jae doesn't know what to do with his life, he just go with the flow but decide to be better and dedicate himself to what he is passionate about. I would have liked to see more about Eunsung's past and more of Jae and Eunsung after the 2 years. I really like how the second season is quite realistic, Eunsung wanting to suport Jae but having problems, Jae dealing with his trauma, all the work stuff and the personal growth of the characters. The final is symbolic and cute! And the manhwa is easy to read!

Well then!

So I watch quite a few Korean dramas, but I hate having to wait for episodes, so I normally wait until they are all out before I begin one. However my sister sent me a link to an article about a show called ‘Hell is Other People’ and about how they had to reassure the public that no one was actually harmed during the making of the show. We discussed it and decided that we would check it out. As of now, there are only 4 episodes released and we just sat and watched all 4 back to back. This show is a psychological nightmare! I mostly checked it out because of Lee Dong Wook but I think I’m going to be anticipating these next 6 episodes!

The show is based off of a webtoon by Kim Yongkhi, which I haven’t read btw. I heard that its loosely based because the character that LDW plays is an original character made by writer Jung Lee Do.

My impression so far of the show is total confusion. That doesn’t mean the show isn’t good, because it is, but that it’s interesting. It has me on the edge of my seat wondering what exactly is going to happen next. It is a little gory but nothing to bad. I have sooo many theorys and I might make more posts about this show in the next few days. All I can say right now is come on Saturday!

weighlifting fairy is a really sweet drama, is going to heal your soul after moon lovers. Hwarang is probably going to destroy you again, but the cast is amazing so it's worth it. I would start with weighlifting fairy and then watch hwarang when they release more episodes :)
