May the 10th

I graduated on May 10th six years ago from one of the greatest universities in upstate New York. It was Mother’s Day then as it is now and thankfully the sun was shining that day. I never thought that as fellow alumnus, Vice President Joe Biden wished us all good luck and adieu that I’d find myself living in the city of angels six years later.

If you really know me, you probably already know that the height of my aspirations rival that of Mount Kilimanjaro, but I never knew that a degree in the fine arts would bring so much depth to my life. I’m happy to teach dance every week and be a role model to the next generation of performers. I love that I can fully understand the rhythmic intonations and subtleties of Shakespeare’s writing. I love how music has transformed my life over the years and the lives of those around me. And most importantly, I friggin’ love being an Orange Woman. I’m a #SyracuseGirl for life. Good luck to the next class of graduates and happy gradu-versary to the c/o 2009.
