My ugly guilty pleasure is laughing real loud when dudes be up in their feelings cause a girl they did dirty living her best life n hoeing it up after she cut him off. I would like to dub this drakewatching but it’s equal opportunity; even women who don’t act right w their ladies may be drakewatched.

DrakeWatch Rumor: Tim to Succeed Babs As Oracle?
Note: This is absolutely a rumor generated from some hearsay on message boards. No indication of this being true or DC planning on making this move has been made. However, I did want to see how people felt about the idea (though I'm pretty sure I already know).
One idea people are tossing around is that if Babs is indeed swinging from the real rooftops and not Internet 3.0 or whatever, that Tim Drake may take her place as Oracle. Obviously an intensely smart kid with ever growing detective skills, Tim's also fairly proficient in computers on his own terms. If Babs is busy testing out her (I assume) newfound ability to use her legs, Tim seems like the obvious choice.
My thoughts: Stupid. Yes, I'm sure Tim would be a competent Oracle. However, you're burning bridges on both ends with this. First, your sidelining one of DC's most popular young heroes and what he has meant to readers. Yes, I'm sure they could cook up all sorts of little Mission: Impossible type stories for Tim, but..really...that's not Tim.
Secondly, and certainly not least important, you're taking away the foundation of one of the strongest characters of the DCU. Not just as a woman, but a person who built herself from the ground up, had everything taken away from her, and then, through sheer will, built herself up again as yet another force to be reckoned with. Yes, Babs has a history with the moniker of Batgirl. But it should stay that, history. She is one of the most consistently written characters in the DCU and made her mark as a legend without the use of powers and the ability to walk. And as the link I posted earlier displayed, having a disabled superhero means a tremendous amount to people. She's an inspiration how she is, and I honestly feel that Oracle is who Babs really is. Steph has done so much during her tenure on Batgirl, it's unfair to tear her away from her and characterize her as some riff-raff vigilante wannabe.
And then there's the point of replacing a disabled women with a young, modern white kid, which would assuredly set the interwebs aflame. So yeah, I'm not for the idea.
Right now, everything is rumor. Even the source that cornfirms Tim Drake's involvement in the new DCU is suspect. But, on the offchance there was some discussion to be had amongst any Drake or Babs-loving followers, was a bit curious as to thoughts.

DrakeWatch: In lieu of further complaining about the lack of news on the fate of Tim Drake, I decided to find articles and the such that celebrated the character. I particularly liked this one, which I just recently quoted.

Quote
"I think the strength of Tim Drake has been the strength of the many writers and artists who treated him as Tim instead of just as Robin. That's why he endures. We all knew what Robin did. We now know what Tim would do as well. No small task."
