7. What is your deepest joy about writing?

There are several things that are my deepest joy about this. The first is being able to create entire worlds and characters that feel real in my head. It's a skill that will never cease to amaze me. The human being is impressive, right?

The second is to be able to express what I feel through narrative. Even if it's not about myself and I write about other characters, they all carry a part of me, my feelings and insecurities, my fears. Seeing the final result of what I write also makes me very happy :')

10. Has a piece of writing ever “haunted” you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?

My own writing has scared me in a strange way. I've been doing it since I was a kid and it got to the point where I could easily write twenty pages a day without a problem. I have too big an imagination and the feeling of being disconnected and living my stories more than I live my life scares me . Yet at the same time, I wouldn't know what I would do without it, because I really like being able to unplug like that whenever I want. The hard part is coming back to reality :') I don't know if I explained myself well.

I remember something specific. I remember coming back from school every day by bus. The journey took between half an hour and forty minutes, depending on traffic. I used to put myself in the same place and ignore everything to get into a story in my head while listening to some music. I didn't close my eyes, but I could disconnect from my surroundings. And it was not only images that formed in my head, but also narrated it 🐝

15. Do you write in the margins of your books? Dog-ear your pages? Read in the bath? Why or why not? Do you judge people who do these things? Can we still be friends?

NO NO NO NO 😭 Books are sacred to me. I'm the type of person that if there was a fire I would grab all my books. They're like my children. I even usually wash my hands before reading because I'm terrified of somehow getting them dirty. All my books are perfectly neat and clean, with no things in the margins, no stains.

Yes, I judge people who do that. It's unavoidable sorry :')

27. Who is the most stressful character you’ve ever written? Why?

I won't say that writing them stresses me out, but I would be anxious to be with them if they were real people.

The first is Ran from Ephemere, who has a big problem with internalized homophobia and often treats his boyfriend badly almost without realizing it. It's infuriating, especially for his partner, to see how he thinks it's even normal to say that gay people are promiscuous by nature, or that being gay isn't normal. This Ran hates himself deeply and, despite the fact that he finds the strength to try to change, he is unable to leave behind all those thoughts that his family has transmitted to him.

The second one is from a fic that I haven't published yet. It's from a Drakenui in which Seishu has an ED that he has dragged through without going to therapy since his childhood. He's a boy obsessed with the idea of ​​perfection, as he has grown up watching his sister Akane (who also had an ED) trying to please boys by being perfect, also their family. After Akane's death, Seishu does the exact same thing, not only does he develop ED, but he starts hanging out with guys to heal his emotional emptiness, guys who treat him like crap the way they treated his sister.

  “Fuck no? If we try harder?? As if giving you five separate chances and suffering silently while being used wasn't enough?”

 “No, I don't mean it that way, please, let's just talk about it! I need you now; you can't just leave me at my lowest...”

As if to jog Inui out of his memories, Takemichi dropped a box of Styrofoam cups nearby with a loud “oof.” The dark-haired man looking over to Inui with an inquisitive stare, “Hey, Inupi, you look a little pale…you okay?”

 “Ah, yeah…I think I skipped breakfast again!” Inui lied through his teeth, steadying himself against the boxes, “How’s the front look?” He deflected.

 Takemichi’s eyes narrowed in suspicion though he brushed it off to appease the blond, “Not too many people have come in again. Starcucks opening seriously screwed us over…More time for us to prep, though!” He offered with a shrug and sigh.

 “Those corporate jackasses,” Inui complained quietly, adjusting his apron and starting towards the front of the store.

 “Tell me about it.” Takemichi agreed with a heavy sigh, following suit.

 Café Ko wasn’t large by any means, but it was a nice spot with a couple of tables, chairs, love seats and a sofa that was desperately fought over by a couple of patrons each day. There was plenty of natural lighting as Inui enjoyed the sunlight that came in throughout the day, and it made everything in the café feel more alive.

 “Here, Inupi.” Takemichi said giddily, “I’m testing stuff for the menu again.”

 Inui blinked a moment as he was thrust a mug filled with what looked to be…he wasn’t sure to be entirely honest, “Takemichi, what…is this?” The blonde questioned, a brow raised in confusion.

 “Uhh…I think it’s like a peppermint mocha hot chocolate!” Takemichi contemplated before pointing towards the mug, “OH! It also has like 2 pumps of vanilla in there.”

 “What the fuck.” Inui laughed as he took a sip and thought a moment, “Okay, so it’s not bad, but what the fuck.” Inui said, shaking his head a bit. 

 “You just looked really down earlier. I thought you needed a “Takemichi special.” Takemichi offered with a grin and thumbs up.

 Inui frowned a bit, taking another sip of the concoction as he gathered his thoughts…It had been a total of one year, 5 months, 3 weeks, 5 days, and…who was counting again? Oh, right, Seishu Inui was counting the days since he had broken up with Hajime Kokonoi.

 “Earth to Inupi, Earth to Inupi! Return to Earth!” Takemichi said as he waved his hand in front of his face, Inui blinking before apologizing profusely.

 “You sure you don’t wanna take the day?” Takemichi offered, attempting to hold a hand to his forehead, only to have it slapped away with a glare.

 “I’m fine, I’m fine.” Inui lied, taking another sip of the horrendous drink, “Okay, this is not going on the menu.” Inui confirmed with a chuckle, Takemichi faking a pout in return.

 As if on cue, the bell to the café chimed, Inui placed his mug under the counter, “Welcome in.” He said, blinking a bit at the person who walked in.  Is that a dragon tattoo on his temple…?

 “Ahh…Sorry, I’ve never been here before…this might take me a second.” The tall customer explained, looking inquisitively at the chalkboard menu, attempting to lean over the counter.

 Inui smiled a bit before sliding over a laminated placard menu, “This might be easier.” He offered.

 “Hah, yeah, that would be easier than squinting up there, huh.” The dark-haired man chuckled deeply as he took the menu into his hands, Inui noticing that his nails had a bit of machine grease under them, “How’s the cold brew here?” 

 Inui thought a moment before responding, “I’d say it’s pretty decent; it’s usually almost gone about the time we’re closed.”

 “Alright, I’ll do the largest size you have of that…do you do the foam too?” The customer inquired.

 “We aren’t Starbu- yes, we do the foam.” Inui joked, gaining a hearty laugh from the man on the other side of the counter.

 “I’d rather support local businesses, even if I just opened shop over here.” The tall customer offered, pulling out his wallet.

 “Oh! Where are you located? We can add you to the local business board.” Inui thought a moment before placing a hand in a “stop” gesture, “It’s on me, welcome to the neighborhood.”

 “No, I’m paying.” The tattooed customer argued.

 “No, you’re not.” Inui shot back.

 “Okay, then Inui…And no, I’m not a creep. I just read your name tag.” The mystery customer said, “I’m doing this then, and you can’t stop me.” He boasted before dropping five dollars into the tip jar.

 Inui paused for a moment, staring blankly ahead at the darker-haired male who seemed to radiate confidence, “Thanks….” Inui said shyly, a blush slowly starting to creep up his neck as he shakily punched in the tall man’s order, “Also not being a creep, but what’s your name?”

  “Draken.” The tall customer replied, a grin spreading across his face.

 “Takemichi will have your cold brew up in a few, and if you want, there’s an application you can fill out that’s on the board over there so we can add you to the local business board,” Inui informed, Draken nodding along.

 “Cool, I’ll grab one and drop it off after I close the shop today.”

 “Sounds good to me, see you later then,” Inui replied with a gentle smile, thinking for a moment.  See you later then? Wait, am I looking forward to seeing him?

 “Draken, large cold brew with vanilla foam!” Takemichi called out.

 “Ah, that’s me.” Draken said, walking over and grabbing the cup and taking a sip, “This is good...” He hummed while walking towards the board to grab an application. He plucked one off of the board, carefully folding it with one hand as he held his drink in the other. With that, he headed towards the exit, taking another sip of the bitter-sweet drink. He pushed through the door, though tilted his head back to meet the gaze of the blond-haired barista who had started to wipe down the counter.

 “Later,” Draken said as he exited the café, his figure disappearing from the view of the café windows after a few moments. 

 Inui stopped wiping the countertop and picked up his mug from under the counter. He quietly walked to the makeshift break room in the back, hoping that Takemichi would not notice his absence. He gingerly placed the mug onto the table before collapsing into one of the uncomfortable seats and positioned his head into his hands. A blush finally forming on his cheeks as a singular thought crossed his mind.
