How I'd Rewrite DBZ's Fusion Saga
I like the rest of the Buu Arc, but the Fusion Saga's a hot mess (the part with Super Buu). This is how I wish the story had gone.
Buildup
Gotenks is hyped a little less. He's still presented as stronger than Goku and their best chance to beat Buu, but he's not stronger than Super Saiyan 3 as a regular Super Saiyan or anything. Piccolo figures if he can reach Super Saiyan 2, he'll be able to beat Buu. This adds some tension to his training and to the part of the fight where he screws around in weaker forms. Is he really on Buu's level or not? And the emphasis on Super Saiyan 2 makes it more shocking when he blows right past that to 3.
The scene from the anime where Krillin buys time for everyone and Buu turns them into candy anyway is here, cause that isn't actually in the manga. Goku and Gohan are watching through the crystal ball hoping they can revive them with the Dragon Balls, but Supreme Kai says no. If any power in the universe could bring the Kais or all of Buu's victims back "from the outside", he would have done it millennia ago, but once Buu eats someone they're absorbed into him. Even killing him wouldn't separate anyone.
Goku's horrified and demands to go back to Earth, and Supreme Kai wishes there was a way… then Elder Kai says just give him your life force if you want it that bad. Facepalming at everyone's blank stares, he explains Supreme Kais can trade their life for someone else's. Supreme Kai does it, Goku's returned to life, and we get the gag where Supreme Kai is still there cause this is the afterlife. However, Elder Kai tells Goku not to go back to Earth yet because his Super Saiyan 3 power is limited and he needs to save it for the right moment. (He really wants his champion Gohan to get all the glory, but he doesn't say so till later.)
Once Gotenks goes Super Saiyan 3 he's stronger than Buu, but it's immediately clear it won't last. His ki is erratic, burning up inside. Super Saiyan 3 isn't supposed to exist. There's a reason it looks so ridiculous, shortens fusion time and Goku can't use it right with a living body. It's pushing things too far, past Saiyan limits, past any mortal's limit (and it's Toriyama taking the piss on his own powerscaling, just like Goten and Trunks being Super Saiyans). The point is it wouldn't last a whole episode. Just like canon he defuses just as he's about to land a big blow.
Gohan arrives. Unlike canon, he doesn't play with his food. First, we just saw that with Gotenks. Second, that was the mistake that got his dad killed with Cell. Third, the stakes are even higher: all his friends and family are either killed by Buu or about to be. Lastly, Gohan's supposed to be all grown up in this scene, so why is he acting like a child? It's insulting to his character to have him do the same thing again. The outcome is similar, but the mood is different. Eventually Buu explodes, baits Gotenks into fusing, and absorbs him and Piccolo like in canon.
But this time, it's part of the plan.
The Better Buu Fight
We get a flashback. Piccolo's been talking to everyone telepathically. Gohan told him about Buu's absorption ability, and Piccolo figures he'll try to absorb them if he's losing. Piccolo's absorbed people himself, so he understands how it works, and he has a little of that Dragon Clan magic in him. He can put a spell on Gotenks so he'll be able to move around inside Buu when he gets absorbed, and hopefully get everyone out. Then Gohan and Gotenks can kill him and save the world.
Unfortunately, there are two snags in the plan. First, Buu's magic is more powerful than Piccolo's. Gotenks gets defused and Buu takes most of his power, leaving Goten and Trunks alone inside. Second, Piccolo underestimated Buu's appetite; he's absorbed too. Gohan is all alone to fight a hyper-powered eater of worlds.
Here's where we get into how Buu's absorption works. He doesn't change outfits or faces or personalities, he doesn't get smarter. Erratic, impatient predator Buu is way more interesting than Cell 2.0. What he can do is read memories. He taunts Gohan with these like a deep-sea fish dangling a lure, not fully understanding them but knowing they get a reaction. Stolen techniques, voice impressions, callbacks to previous moments. He's got Chi-Chi, Piccolo, Krillin and Goten in there. There's a LOT to work with.
This is the big centerpiece fight of the Fusion Saga, Gohan's first even fight ever, a grieving son vs a cornered animal, both using every trick in their arsenal. There are no Potaras in this version. Gohan is the world's last hope. Their powers are equal, but combine the emotional warfare with all Buu's broken abilities and Gohan has no chance at winning. He doesn't have to, though. He just has to survive long enough for Goten and Trunks to pull everyone out of him… however long that takes.
The whole time Goku's watching from the Kai world. Now he knows how all his friends feel when he fights. He was sidelined against the androids, sure, but he knew he had a way to get stronger. This time there's nothing he can do but watch. But he's amazed at how strong and brave his son's gotten. Even Goten's doing his part. He regrets not being there to watch them grow. The story doesn't dwell on it but it's there.
Meanwhile Goten and Trunks are inside Buu, having similar adventure hijinks Goku and Vegeta did in canon, complete with Trunks' fear of worms. There's underlying tension in the silliness, though, cause instead of seasoned veteran heroes it's these two little kids in the world's strangest place. Occasionally there's booming noises from the battle outside. They both put on brave faces for each other. Still, this is mostly a break from the Gohan vs Buu nonstop action, and a last bit of adventure before the series ends.
Eventually, just as Gohan uses up the last of his strength, they make it to where all the pods are stored. Before they can blast anyone down, though, Buu appears inside and defends them. There's nothing the boys can do… until Piccolo bursts out of his pod and grabs him from behind. He used his spell on himself to stay conscious and waited for the right moment. Buu shakes him off fast, but not fast enough to stop the boys from freeing everyone. As Buu howls in anger and confusion, they childishly decide to free Good Buu to see what will happen.
As everyone escapes, Buu's roars shake the Earth. Everyone congratulates themselves on saving everybody and their friends… except Buu's reforming. He's weaker, yes, and less intelligent, no match for Gohan or Gotenks at full power… but they're not. Everyone's completely drained. Panting and bent, they stare up at Kid Buu charging up his Planet Burst and know there's nothing they can do about it. As the ball comes down they feel Goku's faint ki. He's back on Earth after Elder Kai finally admitted he was just making things more dramatic, but Super Saiyan 3 would take too long. He only has time to save Dende and Mr. Satan. Gohan thinks to himself, "We softened him up for you, Dad. Do what you do best." The Earth is no more.
Supreme Kai teleports Vegeta to his planet, and the Kid Buu fight plays out like canon, except Goku never says he could've killed Fat Buu at any time in their last fight. That was dumb. He tried his best, he just couldn't do it alone. And yes, the god sacrificing himself to bring the main character back to life does nothing on Earth (Supreme Kai could've gone to Earth to save people like he did in the anime) and makes the Kid Buu fight harder. One last gag for the road.
What's the point of this?
Goku was right to give the next generation a chance and trust them in a real battle. They can't live their whole lives in his shadow. But just because his sons are ready doesn't mean he needs to disappear. Different generations have to live together and work with each other. That's what happens here. The Fusion Saga and Kid Buu Saga feel more like two halves of an extended final battle. With Piccolo's help, Gohan and Gotenks finish the first leg of the fight so Goku and Vegeta can take it home. Neither group can beat Buu alone. It'd also explain why Goku's fine coming back at the end, because he's learned that lesson too.
P.S. I wish I could've put Vegito in somehow, I love the fanservice, but I think it's worth it not having him. I also like the idea that no one actually beats Buu at full power one-on-one. He's the god-killing final villain, he should feel intimidating. And I'm sure the Toei movie makers would've loved being the only ones to have a Goku/Vegeta fusion. They made some good stuff at the end of the Buu Arc, throw them a bone lol.

Resurrection ‘F’ rewrite/tweaking
Written March 15, 2022 (clearing drafts lol)
Noticed that this is generally regarded as the worst of the Super era movies and the worst arc in Dragon Ball Super
So I wanted to see if a few tweaks would make it more enjoyable and didn’t know where to share it so just thought to post it here
It'll mostly be a mix of the movie version and the anime version as I don’t want to go too fanfictiony
Notes, changes, and mergers
Frieza force reviving Frieza with the dragon balls stays the same
This would have Frieza still train with Tagoma like in the anime so he can be stronger than Goku
The anime version of Goku and Vegeta being in that void to acquire God energy would happen during the months Frieza was training to parallel both sides getting stronger
By the time Frieza and his army head to earth Goku and Vegeta are still training with Whis
Then the regular sparring we see them do with Whis would be during the invasion like the movie
For the invasion Gohan, Piccolo, Krillin, Tien, Master Roshi, and Jaco are the initial fighters like before
In the anime version if this story I would add that Chiaotzu would be left behind similar to how Tien said and Gohan would mention that Goten and Trunks don’t know what’s going either as they’re not ready/mature
And I would add a small thing where Chiaotzu and Videl would monitor the boys and when the fighting starts instead of just flying away like in the anime they would be met with some resistance by the pair
So the Goten Trunks Chiaotzu Videl would be a subplot to make the arc longer
Android 18 just didn’t want to join lol plus had to watch her daughter
The battle against the army happens like the movie (animation and pacing etc) so without much of the Krillin afraid subplot but still elements of it as it added some depth to his character and they divide to better their odds
And a small thing of maybe Gohan being more in the lead to help build his role as the third strongest fighter of the Z fighters similar to the manga version of him later and giving him a Sanji role to Goku and Vegeta’s Luffy and Zoro
Army fight
As it goes on Roshi gets tired first like usual and a fun addition would be to have Yamcha come and assist saying sorry he's late he was further away than the others
Adding Yamcha as I don’t buy he’s that much below Krillin and Tien in power especially when Roshi was here plus it would give him a hero moment but he can still be played with for laughs as he wouldn’t last much better than Krillin and Tien
Krillin getting tired as well stays here with Gohan assisting like in the movie
But when they've beaten the fodder they can't afford to use Senzu beans for stamina as they don't have that many to give
Let’s say they have about 4 beans and there’s currently have 7 fighters and Bulma spectating
This would leave Sisami, Tagoma, and Frieza (with Sorbet) as the main fighters left
Lieutenants
They sense the other two energy and get the range that Sisami is 3rd strongest and Tagoma 2nd to Frieza’s 1st
Tien elects himself to take on Sisami
Piccolo does the same with Tagoma
Gohan was going to help fight but someone like Roshi suggests to save himself for Frieza and recovers stamina just in case Goku and Vegeta don’t make it in time
Meanwhile in the anime version Chiaotzu is using his psychic powers to slow down Goten and Trunks which allows Videl to fight them on a more even playing field to force them to not go join the fight and it works as Videl is a better martial artist than the boys individually, eventually Chiaotzu can’t hold them and they power through and beat Videl and get what they want and start to head to the fight
Piccolo is doing fine with Tagoma, Tagoma is stronger than Piccolo but nothing too concerning at first as Piccolo technique and physiology keeps him in the fight
But Tien was doing ok with Sisami at first but starts to get overwhelmed which leads to Krillin and Yamcha helping Tien making it 3 on 1
A combo attack with the three maybe even Roshi assisting in a turtle school Kamehameha let’s Tien land the knock out blow
(Maybe new technique, maybe TriBeam, doesn’t matter too much but he’s known to have something to show off with)
Piccolo starts to get overwhelmed as the humans defeat Sisami then Goten and Trunks come and after begging to Bulma and Gohan they get the ok to fight as long as they’re fused
In the anime Gotenks joins and with SSJ3 they tip the scales in their favor
Seeing Super Saiyan starts to irritate Frieza
They do a charging volley ball fist combo assisted by Tien and Piccolo (Tien passes, Piccolo sets, Gotenks spikes) to land a big hit on Tagoma
But as the kids get too overconfident by celebrating early Tagoma tries a surprise attack but Gohan punches him similar to how he defeated Sisami in the movie and does the mercy thing as he’s not going to kill them that gets Frieza upset like in the anime version
in the movie version Gohan would save Piccolo by going Super Saiyan getting a similar reaction from Frieza when he defeats Tagoma
Frieza Round 1
Frieza then gets out and ready to fight and Gohan gets ready as Goku and Vegeta aren’t here still
They’re still sparring and get closer to when Whis is aware as his staff blinks but gets distracted by Beerus like usual
Super Saiyan Gohan against First Form Frieza for a little and Piccolo and others comment that it would be a lot to reach super saiyan 2 for Gohan who hasn’t trained much
Then as Frieza is entertained he transformed into his final/4th form Gohan fights him and struggles immensely
As he gets more frustrated Gohan reaches Super Saiyan 2 through his rage and does a better job than before but still not winning as Frieza is still stronger with him
Because of later in Super I wouldn't have him go Ultimate here as it eventually becomes his God equivalent so he'll cap out at SSJ2 here
And just in time Bulma starts to get in touch with Whis and demands Goku and Vegeta and to get there via need instant transmission
Piccolo comments on how Gohan needs to go all out to have their power stand out
And as they all power up, Gohan on his last legs ready to go down fighting, Goku and Vegeta show up via instant transmission
Frieza Round 2
As Gohan passes out Goku says he’s proud and etc and then the main fight begins
And to shake things up for my version Vegeta fights Frieza revealing super saiyan blue
And the two fight evenly for awhile but Vegeta dominates him like original as time goes
youtube
(This truly doesn’t matter as I know marketing and such wise Goku needs to fight Frieza but I don’t really care as we’ve seen Goku fight a little with the sparring)
The same time thing happened with Frieza blowing up the planet
Maybe iIn this version since Vegeta doesn’t let his guard down like Goku, maybe he was so ‘tense’ and arrogant that as he was focusing on Frieza he ignored Sorbet (a weakling) who shoots someone like Bulma or Trunks or even someone like Yamcha which distracts him long enough for Frieza to blow the planet up
Whis rewinds time as even though it feels cheap and lowers the stakes and etc. I do think it adds some consequence as Frieza did win and Goku and Vegeta didn’t learn their lesson
Again can mostly stay the same as the movie
Frieza Round 3
Then Goku comes in and steals the win lol
This can be like Dragon Ball Z Kakarot where it was a beautiful beat down and gives Goku a more pretty win as well as giving the required Goku vs Frieza
youtube
Around 3:53
And the movie ends like canon
Summary
So essentially I included more characters to give characters time to shine
Jaco and Roshi shine against the army
Krillin Tien and Yamcha against Sisami
Piccolo (and Gotenks(Goten and Trunks) in the anime version) against Tagoma with Gohan getting a win (and the boys being comedic relief)
Videl and Chiaotzu do something lol and add a C plot temporarily with Goten and Trunks
And Gohan shines as he's the strongest fighter on Earth and showcases how strong Frieza is before Goku and Vegeta shows as it establishes power levels better
Like everyone is stronger than the army even Roshi and Jaco
Sisami is a little above whatever you would give the humans power level is (people say named Frieza, just stronger than the Ginyu force but a little less than Frieza, even saw that some say they're around Cell level by the time of Super as they have to keep being somewhat relative to Goku)
Piccolo and Gotenks are stronger than Sisami and their SSJ3 level Tagoma is slightly stronger than that and then Gohan as a Super Saiyan is stronger than/or on par with that
(Went more for the movie version of Gohan as that version was by far the strongest and would need to keep him above Gotenks)
But Gohan SSJ is below first form Frieza, SSJ2 is more on par maybe above, final form is above that and ultimate above/on par with that, and Golden Frieza above that
I think it adds the seesaw in power levels that sagas like Saiyan, Frieza, and Cell sagas do just in a much shorter time
As it was back and forth between the hero's being stronger and the opposition being stronger in this version
Vs everyone being weaker than Frieza and everyone is stronger than the army except for one with Gohan being able to challenge that lone exception depending on the version
Plus it kinda gives off the impression that Gohan might be able to win as he’s the one to keep breaking his limits to contend with Frieza and feel relief when Goku and Vegeta get there as he just couldn’t quite do it.
So yeah I think power wise it doesn’t affect universe 6 tournament too much as Gohan wouldn’t be there
Future Trunks arc is unaffected
And for tournament of power, Gohan can still have to regain the ultimate power or at least train it now, maybe they wouldn’t skip Yamcha so blatantly but could just write that he never got a chance for ask or for them to ask him
Krillin Tien and Roshi show how strong they are relative to the others before they go on a long break as are still not on the saiyans and Piccolos level
Power level scale
SSJB Goku, SSJB Vegeta, Golden Frieza
Ultimate Gohan, Frieza (4th Form)
SSJ2 Gohan, Frieza (1st Form), SSJ Gohan, SSJ3 Gotenks
Tagoma, Piccolo, Gotenks SSJ, Gotenks
Sisami, Tien, Krillin, Yamcha
Roshi, Jaco, Chiaotzu, Videl
Frieza Soldiers
Update July 23, 2024
Did do some quick typo fixes and had to replace the kakarot gameplay as the original link I had was dead
Would sta over time and hearing other say it
I think my small change rewrites would be that SSJB would just SS God and save blue for the Universe 6 tournament
But I get that would go against selling new toys and such but seeing SSG Vegeta would be worth it
Again heard many DBZ YouTubers say this but I did have similar thoughts years ago but don't want to be accused of stealing lol

(Don't mind the username much, I made it when I was 13)
Also, here's a couple of drawings I made for the cover, since I had nothing for the cover before.
I wish there was a way to use both, but I just decided on the first.
Also, I may eventually add drawings to the fic :D

Dragonball Z: Abridged Episode 9 Review
Originally posted August 17th, 2015
The difficulties of adaptation.
One of the most important decisions I made when preparing to review Dragonball Z: Abridged was to treat it the same as any other adaptation, because that’s essentially what it is. And like any adaptation, DBZA can be constrained by the limitations of its source material.
The difference between DBZA and most adaptations, of course, is that it uses and re-edits the animation of the original show, splicing together clips to fit their own narrative, rather than adapting a story from one medium into another. This is a pretty significant limitation, and it means that Team Four Star is required to follow each beat of the original story, with next to no freedom to stray off from that story.
Up until now, Team Four Star has made the most of this limitation, using clever editing and writing to add comedy to a very broad and often disjointed story. They also were able to manage pacing very well, thanks to the number of characters whose story needed to be told; they’d cut to a character, progress them as much as possible in a couple of minutes, and then cut away to the next character, progressing their story as much as possible.
It often didn’t work in their favor, and a lot of their writing only served to make the stories feel more disjointed, but it still gave them room to experiment. And then in episodes 7 and 8, they tightened the story, focusing in on one group of characters and letting their interaction be the source of most of the humor.
The content of episode 9 makes both of Team Four Star’s previous approaches impossible. Most of the characters are already dead, for one, and the only events that they can cut between is Krillin, Piccolo, and Gohan facing the Saiyans, and Goku traveling down Snake Way to join the fight. Their solution is about as optimal as possible, as they choose to focus the story on the conflict on earth, while only giving us a brief look at Goku’s progress in the intro.
None of this is to say that episode 9 is bad, of course; it’s still streets ahead of some of the earlier episodes, and most of the jokes land really well. Gohan’s outburst, in which he descriptively defines the word “skullfuck,” is hilarious and well-earned, considering that Gohan just lost the closest thing he’ll ever have to a father.
Character wise, we get some great development for Vegeta, with his narcissism and impatience on fully display as he refuses to acknowledge Goku’s superior strength and kills Nappa for costing him immortality. Piccolo’s sacrifice is also handled quite well, as he realizes at the last second that he should’ve just moved Gohan out of the way, and then proceeds to scold Gohan for his failure to dodge as his dying breath.
Rating: 4/5

You know, I like a lot of series that aren't exactly perfect. But for some reason, Dragon Ball is the only one where I keep thinking: "That should be rewritten. I should write my own version of that story." I wonder why I only feel that way with DB? 🤔 Mostly Z onward, OG is 👍👍

FUN FACT: Did you know Frieza had a finite amount of soldiers on Namek? (And he doesn't kill his troops.)
Also Appule is kind of important and there's a clearly marked place where Goku's six-day space journey happens in the timeline?
I have a laundry list of grievances with the Dragon Ball and DBZ animes. We're here to talk about one of those right now! The Z anime gives Frieza infinitely respawning soldiers that just seem to pour out of his ship whenever he needs them.
This interferes with a key plot point of Frieza's portion of the Namekian Dragon Ball hunt: That Frieza, for all his power, is rendered helpless when his attack on Moori's village goes south.
See these guys?
These guys ruin Frieza's entire goddamn week.
Get his ass, my Namekian thembruhs.
A consistent weakness of Frieza's forces is that they fight blind. By this point in the series, characters on Earth have been taught advanced fantasy martial arts involving manipulation of ki or chi. They can concentrate ki into attacks more powerful than the wielder, sense ki in other beings and feel incoming attacks without having to see them, suppress ki to become invisible to ki detection, etc. etc.
The Earthlings are goddamn amazing at ki manipulation, and the Namekians are just as good.
But Frieza's Planet Trade Organization represents the uncaring hand of capitalism. There is no artistry in their methods. There is no true discipline or understanding. They're a bunch of paid thugs with guns, looking to gentrify planets for their boss: a real estate mogul. So they rely on fallible technology that fails time and time again when put up against experienced martial artists.
The battle at Muri's village is no exception, as Frieza's forces get slaughtered by the "harmless" interlopers.
With only the elites vaguely understanding, from second-hand accounts, what they're seeing here.
Which, in turn, gives Muri the opening he needs to cripple Frieza's campaign by destroying the Scouters they're using to track down Namekian villages.
This is Muri's checkmate. Muri destroys the Scouters, the technology Frieza relies on to find Namekian villages on this planet and take their Dragon Balls. Meanwhile, his reinforcements wipe out Frieza's army.
That guy right is the only survivor of the massacre.
This is Appule. If you've ever wondered why Appule was so important that he got to be his own distinct character in Tenkaichi 3, this is why. Appule is the last grunt left standing.
Though Dodoria makes short work of the Namekian warriors, the damage is done. Frieza's lost his Scouters and he's out of manpower. He's going to have to fan his men out to search the planet, a planet larger than Earth, by looking around with their eyes. And the only men he has left to do that are Zarbon, Appule, and Dodo--
...are Zarbon and Appule.
So. Y'know. Frieza is two deaths short at this point of being completely and utterly fucked sideways.
As his two remaining men set out to search, Zarbon takes great care to tell Appule not to do anything that might get him killed.
It is absolutely pivotal for Frieza's campaign that these two live. There is no one else on this planet who can do the job. It's Appule who ultimately succeeds in finding the last Namekian village.
For some reason, in their eagerness to rewrite the story so that there are far more soldiers on Namek for some reason, the anime makes this Appule's vampire cousin?
Uh. Okay, man. Sure. In any case, it's Appule who finds the village and Appule who reports its destruction to Frieza. He's not a significant character by any stretch, but you can see why he warrants a bit more name recognition than Frieza Soldier #72. He has more impact on the plot that Cui does, that's for damn sure.
Too bad about Vegeta though.
It's a lot easier for Vegeta to get away with this gambit in the manga than it is in the anime. In the anime, somehow the infinitely respawning Frieza soldiers (who he regularly kills for funsies) flooding the halls don't give away the fact that Vegeta's still here.
But with Appule dead, Zarbon and Frieza are the only people left alive in the ship. It's a lot easier to distract two people for a minute than a limitless garrison.
In the manga, this is the closest Frieza ever gets to team-killing one of his own soldiers. Once he realizes Vegeta has stolen all five of his Dragon Balls, has a sixth Dragon Ball stashed away, and is now just one Dragon Ball away from immortality while Frieza's blind and understaffed? All because Zarbon fucked up?
He says some shit.
So. Yeah. He's not above killing his men when they fuck up so bad that they cost him immortality and give his most dangerous archnemesis the means to topple his empire and end him.
But that's a much higher bar to clear than shooting down his infinitely respawning dudes because, uh....
*checks notes* With the Ginyu Force on their way, Frieza can afford to kill his own guys because the Ginyus are better than them anyway. So he keeps them all in the ship and murders them for no reason despite the fact that Vegeta is actively making off with his Dragon Balls right this second and he has no idea to where.
Yeah. That's. Uh. That's a pretty significant story difference. In any case, Frieza's campaign grinds to a screeching halt when....
That's it. That is the very last one. Frieza's campaign is sunk. Until the Ginyu Force arrives, Frieza has no forces and no resources left. He is an unbelievably powerful man, the most powerful in the universe, and the only way he could ever hope to catch up to Vegeta is by flying aimlessly around a colossal planet and looking for Vegeta with his eyes.
I've often heard people express confusion about where Goku's six-day transit is supposed to fit into the Namekian timeline. This, right here? This is it. At this moment, it's over for Frieza. For the next five days, he is soundly defeated. He's out of the race for the Dragon Balls entirely.
And the only reason Vegeta hasn't won the race is because of that one Ball Gohan smuggled away from him.
So Frieza, defeated, is forced to sit in his broken ship with his thumb up his ass and wait for reinforcement.
Vegeta, with six Dragon Balls, is forced to sit on his balls with his thumb up his ass hoping the talented martial artist Earthlings currently suppressing their ki signatures get stupid and give him something to detect - knowing that if he leaves for a second, those little shits with the Dragon Radar might scoop 'em up from under him.
While Gohan and Krillin, with ki signatures suppressed, make the five-day trek at minimum power to Saichoro/Guru.
It's here. Right here. Where everything stops for five days to pass, and for Goku to approach the planet. All because Frieza ran dry on resources and manpower to keep up the hunt.

The thing that's interesting, upon reflection as an adult, about Dragon Ball Z, is that it's completely thematically barren. like DBZ (especially its sequel Super) is utterly devoid of theme. and of course I think that's part of it's mass market success, worldwide, especially late into z and beyond, there are no meaningful cultural signifiers or particularly challenging ideas that dbz/s presents to its audience. It's just, "will goku be strong enough to beat the bad guy". It goes down easy. It's empty calories (affectionate)
But this sort of, effective blank slate, is why you see so many diverging fan-theories about character motivation and "what should have been" types of ideas... everyone sort of feels that something is "wrong" or "missing" about DBZ, but no one can really pin down what, exactly, that is? So you get all these rewrites and fix-it fics and proposed character arcs, from almost everyone who watches it. But because DBZ is so thematically empty, you take nothing out of it besides what you put into it. What you get out of DBZ says more about you than it does it, you know?
All this to say you can pretty solidly place someone onto a political compass depending on what they think should have been done with Gohan

Goten over the years! These are some concepts for a Super rewrite thing a friend and I have been working on :)
Goten is the main character along with Trunks... To expand on what Toriyama sort-of set up in DBZ, Goten and Trunks are intended to be the new generation full of promise, and take a much more important role in the story and conflicts than Super as it is.
There's a lot here and I've been drawing a lot of concept art regardless so I'm sure I'll expand on some of this stuff later haha. Goten and Trunks' fusion training on Metamor in particular is something I've been having a lot of fun with...
[Image ID.
Image 1: A digital artwork of three full-body depictions of Goten, lined up next to each other against a blank background, at different ages. The first age, labelled '>7' at the top, shows a young Goten in his gi as he appears in Dragon Ball Z, smiling at the viewer. Handwritten notes around him read:
Makeshift gi made by Chi-Chi for his training
No tail... yet (removed at birth)
Chi-Chi & Goten can't cut hair very well so it became a Goku-esque bird's nest
Lives simply and happily with his family, but becomes uncomfortable when he feels like something is being kept from him or he is missing something
Semi-frequent excursions to West City to see the Briefs -- his world is Mt. Paozu and Capsule Corp
Partners-in-crime with Trunks -- though this is actually the phase of life they see each other the least. Their partnership is also less equal at this time with Trunks taking the lead more & Goten deferring to the older kid.
The second age is labelled '11', and shows a visibly older Goten, over a head taller than the last age. He is dressed in the outfit he wears for most of Dragon Ball Super, and now as a tail hanging by his side. He is smiling at the viewer and holding up a peace sign. Handwritten notes around him read:
Super timeline starts
Grew back tail from the stress of Beerus's threats (along with Trunks) -- they were so excited their parents didn't remove them again (so long as the moon stays destroyed)
Struggles with loneliness when Gohan marries Videl & moves out, and visits him regularly, often without warning
Motivated to train more seriously with Goku -- wants to protect Earth and his family
The third age is labelled '14-15', and is also visibly older. He is wearing his outfit from the 'Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero' movie and has a sheepish smile on his face while waving at the viewer. His tail is curled up by his side. Handwritten notes around him read:
Now attending Blue Hal School with Trunks -- they are getting a lot closer
Getting very serious abt training -- now doing fusion training on Metamor with Trunks
Increasingly feeling the toll of Earth's safety beginning to be entrusted to him
Gets along very well with most ppl at school but struggles to form deeper connections -- a bit of a social drifter
In his spare time, video games are starting to be a major form of escapism
More assertive around people he knows well, but struggles with acquaintances
Realises he's bi :)
Image 2: A digital artwork of three more full-body depictions of Goten, continuing on from the last image. The first age is labelled '16-17' and shows an older Goten in his school uniform from the latest manga arc of Dragon Ball Super, holding his school bag with his other hand on his waist, smiling confidently at the viewer. His tail curls inward towards his legs. Handwritten notes around him read:
More involved in the community -- operating as a hero with Trunks, forming deeper bonds at school
Keeps himself busy with a variety of extracurriculars, parties, casual dates, and odd jobs for cash
Learns instant transmission!
Still goes with the flow but now more confident in his independence
Some of his activities take him away from Trunks but even apart they are close -- always texting
Official video game addict
Training is still very important to him but just one factor of his schedule & interests
The next age is labelled '19'. Goten is dressed in a loose-fitting purple shirt with Sonic the Hedgehog on it, with a black undershirt under it, loose yellow pants, and large black boots with red soles. He is stretching his arms and looking to the left with a dazed expression, and his tail is wrapped around his left leg. Handwritten notes around him read:
Has moved out & is living with Trunks in a bid for independence
Attempted uni for a semester, quit, still doing odd jobs -- a tiny bit directionless
No longer operating regularly as a hero but sometimes helps Gohan
Dedicated to training as a lifestyle, much like Goku, but does a lot of other things
He and Trunks are attempting to be financially indepedent
Sometimes suffers burnout
Apartment is in Central City, but frequently visits home and Gohan with instant transmission.
The next age is labelled '22+', and shows Goten in a gi very similar to Goku's during DBZ, complete with the 悟 ('go') kanji, with chunky blue boots. He is smiling broadly at the viewer, and has hair similar to Goku's except much longer -- going down past his chin. Handwritten notes around him read:
Runs a martial arts/swordsmanship school with Trunks!
Still messes around with odd jobs but the school is his main focus
Also runs community programs through the school
He and Trunks are two of the major Z Fighters on call in case of emergency
Image 3: The last two images put together, except without the handwritten notes.

I wrote this Dragonball Z fanfiction when I was 19 years old. This was 17 years ago! I have since moved on from my previous two pen names, as life has taken many interesting turns. However, I never completed the story I started. I have come across reviews on my old Fanfiction.net account asking for updates and completions, but unfortunately, I am unable to access my old accounts. Nevertheless, I have decided to rewrite, update, and finally finish this story.
However, I must admit that the story may reflect a different perspective, as it will be written by my 37-year-old self rather than my 19-year-old self. I will do my best to honor the essence of the original while infusing it with the wisdom and experiences gained over the years. Thank you for your patience and support as I embark on this journey to revisit and complete a tale that has lingered unfinished for far too long.
The story follows Vegeta, A young prince of the Saiyan race, who discovers a shocking truth about his role as a hostage in a delicate political alliance between his father, king Vegeta, and the Kold Empire. As he grapples with feelings of betrayal and abandonment, Vegeta resolves to embrace his duty as a solder and proved himself part of the Elite. With determination and resilience, he vows to endure the challenges and training ahead, determined to emerge stronger and victorious despite the constraints of his status as a prisoner.
Bulma find herself in a tense and vulnerable situation with Vegeta, where her initial discomfort and fear give way to a complex interplay of desire and uncertainty, as Vegeta’s actions blur the lines between intimacy and intimidation. Bulma is forced to confront her own reactions and vulnerabilities in the face of his inscrutable demeanor.
An Alternative Universe (AU) where Bulma and Vegeta grapple with conflicting emotions and a sense of entwined fates. Unspoken desires, unspoken tension, all a setting stage for a deeper exploration of their complicated relationship and their undeniable love fate.

Awesome. The original post got lost in the aether.
Now I got to rewrite it while on 8% and about to fall asleep. I guess I could post it tomorrow but I want this picture out of sight! I spent on it 12 hours already! Give me a break! By the way the fact that it took that long was on me. Newbie tip. If you are planning to make a piece in colour, PLEASE colour your pattern first before copying it. It will save you SOOOO much time.
So. What are we looking at? This is supposed to be Commander Gosemdouchi’s house. Oh boy. Do I feel like I have to find some Korean person I can bombard with questions about traditional Korean houses. Because when you’re looking up pictures of them on Pinterest they always get shuffled with Japanese and Chinese houses. I should do some research. I was always a more Japan girlie. I’ve even been learning the language for 2 years now. Yeah. Having to learn kanji got me regretting that I spent my days watching Dragon Ball Z instead of I don’t know… BTS interviews?
I guess I could write a bit about my fan fiction idea. It’s set after the end of the first season when the finally defeat the weasels, I think. I’m on episode 19 so no spoilers. There’s a split in the timelines. And Commander Gosemdouchi becomes basically Kim Ill Sung.
See? I said I would get around to posting those sketches some day.
It’s like a joke between me and dad that we think Commander Gosemdouchi’s sus. By the way Roxy, don’t worry. We stan Scout Gosemdouchi. But that commander! I don’t plan to write this fanfic anytime soon. I have some different projects in mind for Squirrel and Hedgehog. Be sure to follow me! Because trust me there’s nothing worse then then that crushing sense of disappointment when the project you were excited for gets abandoned.
Shit. I shouldn’t say that. I should be positive.
Back to that fanfic idea. So Commander over here after the war, assassinates or imprisons all the important animals from the Flower Hill army and names himself the supreme leader. It’s kind of based off of my country, Slovakia’s, history after the Second World War. Except no one called named themselves the supreme leader. By the way. On the note of history. Some one said, too sleepy to see who it was, I think it was vikfiv21, that if the North Koreans wanted me to work for them, they would just come and fetch me.
Well. Back during communism several of my family members were political prisoners. Including my grandfather. So if I was in North Korea I would still be rotting in a work camp. Oh shit.
Anyways. Back once again to the fanfic idea because I need to go to bed. I really like the idea of Geumseagi finding out that the nation he’s fighting for is a made up idea. As my dad put it, very 70’s Captain America. Just think of the angst! You find out that all the blood, sweat and tears you poured out weren’t for your fellow comrades but for a cruel tyrant that thanks you with a spit in the face?
Bobby out!

ACOMAF Rhys rant
I’m back to ranting again
Honestly the thing is I kind of liked Rhys in ACOTAR, he seemed interesting. Usually my favorite characters are villains. My first impression of him was that he was one of those theatrical villains like Scar (The Lion King), Frieza (Dragon Ball Z), Joker (Batman), Jareth (Labyrinth) etc. Imagine my disappointment when Rhys has been demoted to the love interest. We already get a lot of characters in media that are simplified into just the ‘love interest’ do we really need to continue it?
The whatever chapter where Rhys has a nightmare and Feyre gets involved, I hated that SO much because it gave a weird sexualization vibe to Rhys whose going through shit in the moment. Like, imagine if these two were gender-swapped, wouldn’t it be strange if it tried to draw focus to a woman’s genitals while she’s freaking out (isn’t it implied that Rhys is freaking out because of what Amarantha did to him? I can’t remember) I hate it. It’s not the first time that Rhys is sexualized in ACOMAF either. I almost thought that Rhys has become hypersexual because of his trauma but it’s not shown as unhealthy so it’s clearly not.
I honestly would rather have villain!Rhys back than whatever this is supposed to be.
Also is it just me but isn’t Feyre and Rhysand’s relationship really boring? They have nothing in common and yet I’m somehow supposed to root for them? Why? The only thing they have is sex. Any moments they have feel forced, nothing really feels genuine between them. I even started to wonder if Rhys was planting things inside her mind because whenever Feyre tried to bring up what Rhys did to her UTM it would just get dropped. Like when they were fighting after Rhys was torturing Keir and Feyre was getting PTSD from it and Rhys freaks out when she brings it up even though Feyre is the one that should be upset about it, not Rhys.
Don’t even get me started on Ch 55. God. What a trash chapter. It was literally about Rhys justifying what he did to Feyre UTM. He never goes through a character journey or anything, it’s just justifying his actions. He doesn’t even become a better person because of this he’s just the same as he was before. I don’t even know why Feyre accepts this, she could’ve made him a better person or something, she’s done very little for him.
I just don’t understand what the point of any of this book is. What’s the point of changing love interests? What does it serve to the overall story? ACOMAF is just treading the same grounds as ACOTAR, it doesn’t even really change anything. Except that Rhys is even more bland than Tamlin who at least has a hobby, I don’t even know what makes Rhys, well, Rhys.
I’m going to try to do a writing exercise of rewriting Rhys like I did with Celaena next time. Make him an actual compelling character.

I just wrote my second chapter of DBHC!!!
Link: https://www.wattpad.com/1235691170-dragon-ball-hc-a-new-hero-the-golden-warrior
This is the time that the story is gonna get harder for me to write, since I don't follow the path that the original series takes and I want to add more filler.
2/3 of the filler episodes have been moved to months later, and I've only gotten 3 original filler episodes thought of.
If anyone has any ideas for filler, please let me know, I'd be super grateful!!
