The World of Thedas Vol. 3 Fanbook is a free, digital zine expanding on the lore, characters and locations of Thedas, inspired by the first two official books. It is a project made by fans and for fans, to show our love for this world. 

Currently, the interest check is open and will remain so until February 21st. This form will help us determine how many people are interested in this project and in what capacity, which will be important for our planning and future decision making.

Grave Gold: A Mortalitasi Zine interest checks are open!

Grave Gold is a charitable project focused on the finest necromancers that the world of Dragon Age has to offer. Veilguard gave us a taste of Nevarran magic and introduced new necromantic heartthrobs - I'm talking about VORGOTH, of course - but we here at Grave Gold want even more.

With that in mind, we'll be welcoming mods, artists and writers aplenty to help create this project and celebrate everything about death magic in Dragon Age. But first, we want to hear what you lovely lot want from Grave Gold, so we can make sure we deliver the goods.

fandoms: All published is for One Piece, almost everything unpublished is Dragon Age + there's some original something for Elden Ring (probably not going to clean that up tbh)

highest kudos: The Road(trip) to Hell is Paved With Questionable Decision Making at 103... which, yeah, it's the most accessible of them lol

highest hit one-shot: catalyst at 513-- pretty good, considering I only posted it at the end of October. Maybe cheating because it needs a sequel? But I haven't written it, so for now it remains an OS

new things I tried: I did two zines and three events (BB, Corazon Week and Fight)! They were fun, but I'll probably mostly focus on making my own stuff this next year. And I expect to mostly be hanging around the DA fandom, as opposed to OP

fic I spent the most time on: I doooon't know, but I think it was the ascent? High concept, difficult to write and wrangle into something resembling what I wanted. Good exercise, though.

fic I spent the least time on: I think it was resentment-- I do really love this one, actually, but I didn't spend too much time on it because it came together in like a day? Even the editing was quick.

favourite thing I wrote: Probably it deepens like a coastal shelf, which is an AU of someone else's fic lol, so very niche, but I loooove writing about terrible people and family drama. And I got to quote poetry. And make people cry <3

favourite thing(s) I read: I've really loved reading all of your fics that you all keep sending for BW fic comments Saturdays! And I enjoy hearing about everyone's Rooks, too <3 I don't feel it's fair to do 'best of' fics but I thought I'd pull a few that have lower interaction rates for various reasons; the BW fandom is soooo talented, though, my recommendation is to give whatever sounds interesting to you a shot!

(please don't take this as like... me not endorsing the other fics, I'm really enjoying reading everyone's <3 I just went off the top of my head + pulled stuff I think may have been somewhat overlooked. Also I am not even done with last week's set yet)

In every other fandom I peruse I am an Old Man Yaoi enjoyer, so I also will always recommend A Reflection of Starlight (reread) for Les Mis, and, for those of you interested in OP fic, the works of spaceliquid, ArgelTal (@chaoticargeltal-- they wrote this fic based on a prompt of mine & did an incredible job!), and Harmonica_Smile/Rescue_Remedy (@chromatic-lamina) who all write beautifully <3

writing goals for 2025: Need to finish that original thing I'm working on by... August?? I should check lol. And then I need to publish as much of this DA stuff as I can that's sitting in drafts lol... will the foursome be first?? unclear

Modern Draconity Zine | Interest Check

Draconity isn’t solely from ages past, but something that still burns bright in the modern age. This zine would be a collection of pieces created by nonhumans about what it means to be draconic in the present day (or even future). Both fiction and nonfiction pieces would be accepted. As long as what you have in mind fits the theme, it’ll probably be a-ok. Off the top of our head, we’re thinking of essays, short stories, poetry, mock advice columns, alternative covers, fictional advertisements, comics or recipes.

Also, this zine would impose no set definition on what is or isn’t “dragon enough.” If you feel like the label applies, we want to hear from you! Anonymous submissions would also be accepted.

Our deadlines are strict for this event, so writer sign ups are closed for 2024. However, we are happy to have pinch hitters on hand!

You can (optionally) join the discord to hang out with and cheer on the creators in the event, and take the @ potential pinch hitter role. If we need a pinch hit, we will ping people with that role for first dibs - but we will ALSO post pinch hit openings on this tumblr publicly, if you do not want to join the discord.

But wait... there may be more!

We would like to take this opportunity to point you in the direction of some other fan events and communities that will also have opportunities to write new fics and find inspiration.

Dragon Age has had consistently active exchanges, zines, and daily writing events/games for many years, and they might strike your fancy. There's practically an event for every ship, character, even country in Thedas, at this point, at every time of year.

Some of the mods of this event have been working on @dragonagefanevents as a way to steer people toward new events. You will be able to see what past events have run in the fandom, we will share new events as they come up, and you can estimate when annual events might recur throughout the year.

The Interest Check for the World of Thedas Vol. 3 is still open!

We received 146 responses over the past month, and will be going ahead with the zine! Mod Peren (that's me) will need a little help, though—so if you want to be a mod, apply here! Now, onto the results.

GENERAL INTEREST

73% of you (that's 107 people) said that you'd be interested in purchasing this zine (shoutout to the person who said, "If there is any Zevran in it I will absolutely throw money at it." I appreciate you greatly) while 67% (98 people) expressed interest in contributing to the zine! The number of contributors accepted into the zine will ultimately depend on how many applicants we get, but I would say at least 30 people—both writers and artists.

CONTENT

All three games' companions will be featured in the zine (the Awakening DLC companions will absolutely show up if I have anything to say about it)! Apologies to our NPC lovers and comics fans, though. We see you, but this zine is centered around the companion characters. OCs will show up but will not be the focus of the zine.

We will have a digital and physical zine, and the digital zine will be free to download! As for merch, production will depend on whether any artists are interested in designing it.

Thank you for your interest in this project! The singular mod (me again) really appreciates the support that we've received from you. We hope this information gives you a better idea of what the zine will be! Applications will open on May 5th, so prep your portfolios and think up some content ideas!
