Because I recently got inspired by the idea floating around again and know no self-restraint
Some Samson Advisor AU thoughts, here we go:
Because I am self indulgent like that I belive the blueprint for what Samson would be like as a Commander is pretty close to Samuel Vimes from the Discworld series by Sir Terry Pratchett- both characters have had to struggle with addiction and poverty in their lives. He also, as most of Sir Pratchett characters do, has a sense of humor that I think would also fit here. All in all I think a Commander Samson would be the type to first teach man how to fight the proper way and then go "good good, now forget all that, because we will learn the type of fighting that will save your life in a dark alley"- good mix of proper military technique and some streetsmarts. Also this quote
Tumblr media
2. Speaking of that quote, I do not like how Cullen's personal quest is written- so instead of central choice being should Samson take lyrium again, I would like Samson's personal quest to be more about his relationship to power and authority after whole Meredith situation. I would like to see Samson have some thoughts about the amount of control over people he now has and how easy it is to slip into patterns where you take all of that for granted. Maybe one of his man has been caught stealing or on some comparable misbehavior but Samson is reluctant to punish him in a way that is expected because he knows this particular solider is in a tough spot, and well- he knows all to well how not all orders can be obeyed. And the inquisitor could choose how to deal with the situation, by this showing the type of leadership you expect of Samson- either one where you allow him to be a little softer, and in line with what his conscience dictates or allow no wiggle room and demand full obedience- which could mean he becomes the type of leader he hates, one that needs to put a leash around his people's neck and constantly tug at it to have them fall in line.
3. That said I think Commander Samson would be the type that seems a bit rough on the outside, a little bit pessmistic but he makes effort to remember each individual solider, know something about them etc. He knows how to it is to serve a cause that doesn't give back anything to you and would try his best to make his soldiers feel that they matter.
4. Damn the fact he ain't conventionally hot, I would bet there are people out there who would romance him. And I think they all should be able to- granted, I think Cullen should have been bi and not race-locked as well. But if we are talking romance I think the first few times you would flirt with the guy he would sort of half-jokingly flirt back and then after a couple of times there would be a scene where he goes "Wait... you are actually serious about it, aren't you?" And he would reveal that yeah he is obviously interested in you, not sure why you are in him but he is not going to stop you. For whatever reason I also got an idea in my head that one of his romantic cutscenes would basically be "You work too hard and I haven't seen in you eating in... might be never honestly, how do you stay alive, anyway I made us a dinner". Don't know why, I just get the vibes that Samson knows how to cook.

Listen.
I love y'all, but some of you need to understand: the writers are not being shitty. The writing is not bad. The lore is not being ignored.
You're upset because your headcanons are not being followed.
Something Tolkien fans are constantly encouraged to do is "go back to the source material." This sounds basic, but Lord of the Rings alone is a massive book - if someone broke into my apartment, I stand a more than reasonable chance of beating them down with either of my illustrated hardcover copies. By the time you get through reading it, it's easy to forget small details in the main body of the work, much less the introductions and the appendices, and that's BEFORE you try absorbing everything in Lost Tales, or The Silmarillion, etc, etc.
Now imagine you come to Veilguard, and maybe you've been playing Inquistion because it feeds directly into the game. Maybe you played Origins, 2 and Inquisition in a white heat. Great! But those games include a lot of choices, and SO MUCH CODEX material. It's almost impossible to retain all of that knowledge all at once in your head, especially in games where you can miss shades of meaning due to the dialogue choices you make - and I often see people who claim they tend to make the same choices every time.
The reason we Tolkien fans are told to go back to the source material is that it's so easy to slip into assumptions. A great example is: do you actually know what Rangers are? Or do you think of them in D&D terms?
Dragon Age is a story that mimics the unreliability of History, where one characters's perspective and story may not be the same as another's, and neither are necessarily wrong or right - they're simply parts of a whole. And it's wild to watch y'all bend over backwards to defend your headcanons instead of accepting that maybe a character was wrong, or misinformed, or unreliable, or has a limited perspective.

Veilguard Thoughts
(my sort-of review, more of a ramble, below the cut in case of spoilers)
I had particularly low expectations for this game, as it felt to me like it was rushed out to try and hit the BG3 crowd and get them to pay £70 at the point where their hyperfixation was failing them. It felt like a very commercially-motivated decision, and I tried to modify my expectations accordingly.
I then started playing... and had to modify my expectations again.
But with two lowering of expectations completed... I genuinely enjoyed this game! I had fun! Sort of! if I squint!!
Thoughts!
I am not a competent gamer, so I like combat that feels fun and engaging without being challenging or a chore (cough, BG3 Act 3, cough), but without being lazy either. I played as a mage in Veilguard and I felt like this hit a sweet spot - moments where I was stressed kind-of invested, no moments when I was bored. The graphics for mage (for spellblade particularly) were awesome and badass, and I loved to new mode of engaging with the mage class in orb and dagger.
I understand the frustration with a lot of lore being retconned, ignored, or wilfully erased or moved away from. Some parts I understood: I do think Veilguard tries to make a move away from grimdark, not out of disloyalty to the franchise and it's roots, but bc grimdark is a very different prospect now than when Origins released. it's a genre that gets a lot more criticism and bad press, and that some people feel genuinely uncomfortable perpetuating as a results. While Origins is my favourite dragon age game, there's a lot of insane things you need to just let slide to enjoy it - like the fact that multiple origins begin with some kind of rape and sexual assault if you're playing as a woman. I don't think retconning that stuff is anything other than being politically savvy, and a little more sensitive to how fantasy has changed.
(I also think this is why they've moved away from the chantry conflict to be honest. Like the optics of Christian religions in fantasy has also changed, and let's be honest, Dragon Age had already fucked THAT, multiple times.)
I did however, like everyone, find it a bit disheartening to see how little Keep decisions mattered. Why is there no Keiran with Morrigan? why can't Mythal move to an inquisitor who drank the Well of Sorrows instead? why is my Inquisitor defending Solas when she ended the game hating him? Why is Hawke being in the Fade meaningless? I know this is just echoing what people have already said, but it was sad to see the 'conclusion' to the franchise (that probably isn't the end, let's be honest, not now that people paid £70 for an underwritten game) was even less satisfying in terms of choice and agency than ME3
This game deliberately skewed itself to read as a 'better DA2', than a 'worse, rushed inquistion'. IDK, it just makes me feel a bit grossed out, and manipulated. I mean, we know DA2 can be made in crunch, lads!!!!! :)))
Criticisms!
EVERYTHING is underwritten. The game is woefully short. If I can complete all the sidequests in a game, then something is wrong. The romances, the character arcs, the main quest, the dialogues. Everything was sparse, with the bare bones of a plot, that (in the case of companions quests) was rarely seen through to a full and satisfying conclusion. And I *know* that's not the writers fault, necessarily, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be done better.
There's so much potential, but I found that most of the companions could be boiled down to one or two traits, and while I can see people headcanoning reasons for this in real time, it's just... underwriting, or bad writing. Extremely telling to me that both Emmrich and Davrin were my favourite companions... because they had their own companions. That meant that they had multiple story hooks - their professions, their relationships, and then their little guys. They got three things, when most people only got two.
This was particularly egrerious for me with Taash, because they started out amazing, and I ended up being extremely disappointed as I watched both them and their mother being reduced down to flat one-dimension caricatures and a tired queer narrative of 'my parents hate me'. Only, this time, it's 'my immigrant parents hate me'. when you couple the reductive approach to Taash with bioware's inability to write the Qunari well or without falling into Orientalism??? they're suddenly an evil repressive queer phobic religion after being supportive of trans characters in inquisition???? you're telling me Shathann, a woman who was forced into a more feminine role by circumstance but considered herself more genderless/masculine as a scholar, wouldn't be on board with non-binary identity? just galling tbh.
The romances are underwritten. And they are badly written, to me. Luckily I know we'll have fic, but in Inquisition, each romance was 90 minutes worth of content. In Veilguard, Lucanis's romance is the longest... at 18 minutes. It just seems stupid and strange to me - if this game is chasing on BG3's coat-tails, why don't they know everyone is fucking horny?
While I liked the decision to give companions more banter together and flesh out their interpersonal relationships, I felt that the balance was off... probably bc it's cheaper to have two actors share a piece of scripted dialogue, than voice a decision tree. It meant that to me Rook often felt like a bystander in their own story, or excluded from their own found family. HR Manager-core, as it were.
General uselessness of the Lords of Fortune coupled with the Orientalism of the Lords of Fortune.... big sad.
I think the choice between Lace and Davrin is highly!!!! suspect!! do you go with fantasy racism (kill off the only dwarf, thus meaning all your dwarf companions are dead in the game, including the one who represented to future for her people) or the real racism (kill off the black man). I really wish this decision was more reactive, and perhaps based in faction strength or character bond, not just a pre-set choice.
I'll never care about solas, the way trick weekes wants me to care about solas. pretty dumb decision, to make a whole game contingent on this fact.
The ending and epilogue screens were underwhelming, and left the game feeling incomplete to me.
Joys!
To end on a more positive note...
everyone is hot. I honestly think everyone is hot. No other dragon age game had a cast of characters whom i all found attractive. This is unheard of. This is why I know all the fic will be fucking stellar.
And you know who else is hot? Rook. Genuinely one of my favourite DA protagonists! Maybe bc of the faction thing, or just the chemistry of the VA I chose. I just felt like she was pretty fucking hot tbh, and that more people in-game should be taking notice of it. Everyone should stop having conversations with each other and start desiring Rook carnally.
Weisshaupt was genuinely an amazing sequence and questline. In fact, I loved that this game featured Grey Wardens more heavily, and I loved all the lore about Wardens that was introduced.
Assan!! <3 Manfred!!! <3
Bellara and Neve kissing with tongue!!! No, I will not elaborate!!!
(I think that Bellara and Neve were two characters who did have strong stories, and that they should kiss about it.)
Elgarnan and Ghilanain.... never before has a dragon age game known what it's like to have a charismatic villain. This time, we got two. Ghilanain was my favourite, bc I'm fucking gay, but even interactions with Elgarnan and his boss battle felt engaging. I honestly don't think a dragon age game has ever had a good villain before, and these guys were both fucking cool.

Headcanon: Cussing
Dedicated to the very kind Anon who requested it!
I hope you (and all of you, nice folks!) like it. It was wonderful way to get reacquainted with my own Tumblr.
As always, reblogs, comments, likes, are all treasured and appreciated!
--->--->--->--->--->--->--->--->--->--->--->--->--->--->--->--->--->--->--->--->
Cassandra: when she was a child, she used to do it a lot. A. Lot. Mostly for the chance to see her relatives shocked and appalled. She heard the guards in her uncle’s estate cussing here and there, when they were sure nobody was nearby. Therefore, if they were doing that, to be a warrior partly involved cussing, right? Growing up, she tones it down a great deal, realizing that cussing can actually weaken your voice during an argument or make you look undignified. This is something the Right Hand of the Divine simply can’t allow. She is not shocked to hear it, mind you, but she keeps the few ones she needs to bark out mostly for when she is not doing anything official near someone important.
Blackwall: he has lived among soldiers. Cussing is part of a normal day as it is training in the sparring ring. Curiously, though, he doesn't like cussing unless it just escapes his mouth out of exasperation. He blames having been in contact with Orlesians too much, but he prefers a well thrown insult to an actual curse. When he acted as a Grey Warden, he tried even harder to refrain himself, wanted to appear a dignified and rightful guidance. When he lets one slip, though, it is a big one!
Dorian: he has a potty mouth, simply put. Oh, sure he tries to correct it a lot, and generally he succeeds in selecting a more refined language. Surely, he doesn’t cuss near Madame de Fer - no way in the Void he is letting anyone Orlesian think they are more refined than he is. However, he cusses in the bedroom. In the heat of passion or during a role-playing he lets go of everything that blocks him, and just... curses. When he is angry, the best curses to spit out at his enemies are in Tevene, and he switched to it almost unconsciously.
Varric: he is a writer. A master of words. Simply put, cursing is boring. Cussing can be fun during a heated moment, but it lacks the mastery of language he so much loves. Cussing is too easy. A quick, sly, possibly brutal reply is a true testament to a writer’s ability, or so he likes to think. He laughs if someone cusses out of frustration (and Hawke used to do it with every breath) and shrugs nonchalantly if someone tries to offend him with it. If Bartand’s insults didn’t bother him, nothing can.
Solas: cussing is debasing, full stop. He will not lower himself engaging in such peasant activity. There are so many other methods you can pick to make your displeasure clear, that he simply cannot understand why someone should choose such trivial words. Even when he is angry, he can’t see the point of it. Especially when he’s angry, actually. Cursing while annoyed means not being able to make his point clear enough. An insult can't substitute an explanation, can it?
Sera: cussing is one of the very few joys the Maker dropped on Thedas and by Andraste’s tits, she is going to take full advantage of it! She cusses as often as she breathes. Nobody can say if it’s because she is just so used to it that she can’t distinguish those words as curses anymore or because she simply doesn’t care. Probably a bit of both. She is particularly extravagant in the words she selects, so much that Varric actually starts to admire her efforts.
The Iron Bull: the Qun disapproves of swearing because it means you have lost control over yourself. Secretly, though, he has always had a thing for swearing. It sounds fun and it actually is a good way to release stress! He likes to swear freely, but not around children.  He uses the curses both as an insult or as a compliment, depending on the audience. To his companions’ amusement, the happiest he is, the more he cusses. He wouldn’t curse while fighting a dragon, though. It would be too disrespectful!
Cole: he tries it once for fun and makes Varric and The Iron Bull laugh. He does not do it again, though, because the words are heavy on his tongue, and they cut if told too often. He can see little bruises left on the souls and skin of the people being cussed at. Someone thinks to use it in a friendly way, but it’s dangerous. The outcome too uncertain. No, no, he doesn’t want to take the chance to hurt somebody. Better not saying it.
Vivianne: she would choke on her own tongue than put on such a display of vulgarity. It’s not all snobbery, as most of the people around her think. Sure, cussing is actually something that servants and ... less noble people tend to indulge in. Even the Templars in her Circle frowned hearing their comrades’ curse, let alone Mages. Her true reason, though, is that in the Orlesian Court a few things are as much disapproved as cursing is. You curse and nobody asks you to go to their party, or accept a gift, or meet the people you need to meet. You are even slightly vulgar, and the Court dismisses you as quickly as a lighting running through the sky. Cursing is what can kill you in Orlais. And Vivienne is too clever not to know it.
Advisors
Josephine: she is a proper lady, so she knows cussing is bad. She is also Antivan, with passionate Antivan blood in her veins, so she is not shocked when she hears it. Her good manners however are too ingrained on who she is to let her curse, even if she is distressed or angry. Only Leliana has heard her cursing once, through gritted teeth and pressing her knuckles to her lips. Josephine has made her sworn she won’t ever tell anyone, and she has sweetened the deal with the most exquisite pair of Antivan slippers the Spymaster has ever seen.
Cullen: he curses. He tries not to curse at other people, but he does use some chosen words when he is upset and possibly alone. Or when he is happy and doesn’t know how to articulate his feelings. Fereldan Templars are way different than their Orlesian counterparts. Cursing is not a scandalous thing, it’s part of a normal day in a heavy armour. Now, he doesn’t want to curse too much, especially in front of ladies or children, and he does a wonderful job in restraining himself. During a battle, though? He literally curses his way through the enemies.
Leliana: she curses only thinking about her enemies - so, a lot, but only when she is alone. The Divine Justinia found that exhilarating, when she caught her Left Hand doing so, one day. Leliana doesn’t have any particular belief about cursing, outside the Orlesian court. It’s just another way for people to express themselves.

Hello, I was wondering a request something with Dragon age.
It's about Cassandra, Vivianne, Cullen, Leliana, Solas, Varric, and Cole. Where they find out that their human Inquisitor S/O is a Umbran witch and has been around for multiple centuries.
Sure thing!
Cassandra - can she trust you? Does she want to trust you? The very idea of something being “dark magic”, yet here you are still genuinely loving with her
Vivienne - once you inform her of your heritage and magic, she’s understanding as one can be, knowing the ins and outs you’ve had to maneuver to get where you are
Cullen - honestly, he’s caught at a crossroads. Can he trust you and your magic, or was this an elaborate scheme for ulterior motives?
Leliana - might feel a bit distant from you, given her role and line of work. Are you meant to be together or at odds with each other?
Solas - feels closer to you than before. He feels like he can tell you his true identity as well, but are your goals aligned with his?
Cole - sweet as he is, Cole may feel a bit apprehensive in trusting you considering you’ve kept this secret
Varric - magic this, magic that. He’s already gone through enough at Kirkwall. He just hopes this doesn’t take you away from him.

Drew Immy in another precolonial Bisayan inspired outfit, this time more formal and based off what the upper classes wore. I also drew Cullen in Celtic inspired clothing because I like the Irish Cullen headcanons ❤️
Another take on Halamshiral outfits perhaps?

Rambling about Dragon Age Part 1
Cole is precious, he’s like the little brother I never had
I just want to put him in my pocket and give him soft pats like a kitten
My first reaction when I met The Iron Bull was “wow he could step on me”
And when he said he likes red heads I saw my ginger Lavellan look down at herself and say “wAiT I’m a red head”
I’ve never romanced him but im thirsty for qunari with rough, growling voices
Though when Bull came in to my Adaar’s room and said message received on her flirtatiousness I could see my girl just start laughing because my Adaar is like no boy I’m gay, but thanks 🙏
And I could see Bull just connecting the dots
My Adaar and Dorian are soooo lesbian/gay solidarity
Like seriously, completely and totally
She heard about his father and planned about sixteen ways of killing Halward
After the discussion between the two, after going to camp and resting before leaving for Skyhold, Adaar totally snuck back and threatened Halward
Like single handedly knocked out his guards, pinned him to the wall if pure strength not needing her magic at all as she looked down at the pathetic weasel her hurt her friend
And she said, “The only reason I haven’t killed you, is because you are not worth the effort of cleaning my blade. I’ll say it now, you’re going to let Dorian go, you aren’t going to approach him, you aren’t going to stalk him, follow him, speak to him again. If you do, I swear on every ancestor you believe in, that I will hunt you down- and you know I will, I’ll cross every sea, fight every demon you raise, and than I will gut you- pig!”
Adaar is very protective of her friends, case in point, and would put herself between them and an archdemon itself to keep them safe
My first reaction at the choice between Hawke and Alastair my brain immediately went, I’ll stay
I still wonder what would happen, I mean the mark can open and close rifts so logic states she’s be able to fight the fear demon, reopen the rift and close it from the other side
My first reaction when I met Josephine was that she was so cute- especially when you meet her as a qunari
‘You’re, a lot taller than I expected.’
She’s just so cute and soft, and the romance with her is sooo sweet
Mind you my Adaar flirted with everyone, Cullen, Bull, Dorian, Josephine, Harding, Varric, Krem, etc, etc- my big girl did not shy away from romance or sex
But that scene where Josephine’s finally free from the assassins after her and they watch the sunset
And again at the Winter’s Ball when they slow dance on the balcony
It’s just so freaking cute!
I also love that in trespasser Cassandra basically tells Adaar she wants to be the maid of honor in her wedding to Josephine because Varric played a joke
And I could just see Adaar all wide eyed like, yes, I can marry her?
Yes I want to marry her!!
But the world is still crazy, all at arms, and she plans to wait- but
Then Adaar nearly dies
She knew she wasn’t going to live a long life- even before the events of Inquisition. She’s a qunari mage, one who never quite knows when to keep her mouth shut, she knew her life would be rather short
But, now she’s got something to fight for- no someone to live for
After the events of Trespasser, things are still crazy, especially with whatever Solas is planning
But Adaar finds herself carving out a piece of her horn- she asks Dorian as he knows where to cut to not hurt her and has steady hands
Plus she’s trying to give Dorian ideas for his own proposal to Bull
Adaar’s known about their relationship, they’re not good at hiding it
Or better Dorian is not good at hiding it and Bull doesn’t care what people think
Honestly she might have better luck talking Bull into proposing, however in doing so she’ll lose the pool, so-
Yeah she and the others- especially Varric- have been shipping them since the night they shared a tent in the Western Approach
Adaar had shared with Varric because he doesn’t take up much room
Though at that point Adaar wasn’t sleeping much
She was always good at compartmentalizing- she had to be in order to survive as a mage- let only a qunari mage
While she has her anger, and her despair, fear demons often flock to her- especially since the Mark
She’s good at fighting them back, though she’s tired
She’s so tired sometimes, though with Josephine…she has a reason to keep going
It takes some time before she can get the horn piece ready, though Dagna is willing to help polish and set it into a gold band with a small trio of diamonds next to it
Once it’s made up, well Adaar has some proposal ideas- and it helps when she’s called away on a mission
In the end she gets all her work done early, and sneaks home, not telling Josephine
Cassandra leads Josephine out to a balcony overlooking Orlais- it’s not the same place as where they were before but it’ll do
And there’s Adaar, who hauled her six foot+ self up the wall to avoid suspicion
She’s a bit out of breath, black hair braided and tied back, and she’s taken off her vitaar
Josephine is surprised, taken aback, lost for words before she takes a step forward only for Adaar to raise her hand
She gives Josephine a small smile, before easing herself onto one knee, and says- well, she says:
“Josephine, I never thought I’d live long- especially after-“ she looks down at her prosthetic arm, a gift from Dagna, phantom pain from the mark lingering in her mind, “Well after everything. And I was ready for it, I was ready for a short life.”
She looks up to meet Josephine’s eyes, “Then I met you, and I realized, that I want to wake up again and again next to you. I want to listen to your day, dance with you to your favorite song, making you your favorite breakfast even though we both know I can’t cook.” There’s a little laughter, but it’s emotional and breaks easily.
“You saw through the facade I never realized I had, you saw me, not as the inquistor, but as me. And I want to spend the next lifetime, however long that might be, showing you how much that meant- how much you mean to me for the rest of my life.”
“So, will you marry me?”
The answer…
Was yes! Of course, and they kissed deeply, richly and Adaar slid her ring onto the woman’s finger
In the background Dorian shoots off a blast of magic, light arraying across the sky letting sparks falling over them
Cassandra wasn’t watching…no she definitely was and the hopeless romantic is in victory
Varric is definitely not writing down ideas for his book
And Bull- well Bull is glancing down at the ring carved from Adaar’s horn and wonders if he should look into that
Since Adaar lost her left hand, she decides to go in the style of her parents, who wore their wedding bands around their horns, and Josephine styled it too match, all warm gold and pinpricks of white diamonds.
They end up having two weddings, one for the nobility and the other for themselves
The noble wedding is huge, bombastic, though there’s whispers in the background. A qunari, two women, a mage! It was all so shocking.
But Adaar did defeat Corypheus
And Cassandra and Lelianna are scary when they’re glaring at you
No one forgets that Adaar is friends with the Grand Divine
And said Divine used to be an assassin
The noble wedding is over the top with gold chiffon, at least a hundred people with a cleric officiating and Adaar somehow wrangled into wearing a dress.
But the home wedding, it’s just the main members of the inquistion, a few soldiers and friends, but mainly all of them
Lelianna can’t come, being the Divine doesn’t give much free time
Adaar doesn’t believe in the Chantry or the maker, so while the cleric married them in the noble wedding, this is just an exchange of vows, toasting and celebration
Adaar wears her dress robes for the occasion (she wants to burn the wedding dress but Josephine won’t let her)
And with her friends by her side, she feels as if all the pieces have come together, even for just this one moment

Could I ask for Dorian, iron bull, and varric reacting to their lover crying when they say I love you to them for the first time? Out of happiness but they don’t exactly k ow that lmao
That request is absolutelty cute! And since tomorrow is Valentines Day I thought, why not release it then? So, here we are! Hope you enjoy!
Dorian
Tumblr media
I think, you broke that man.
I mean it totally honest. He would not know what to do at first. Dorian is somebody who seems not really able to react properly towards emotions, wether they are from him or someone else.
At first, he would try to joke, after he recovered from the inital shock. He would say something along the lines of "I am not that bad."
He ist just super insecure and thinks,he did something wrong!
But after you explained it to him, he will feel a lot better! And will then comofrt you properly. With a hug, some nice kisses on the forehead and even a prpoer kiss.
Just, don't do that again. He still needs to learn.
Iron Bull
Tumblr media
Probably the most calm person of all three. Iron Bull would pull you into his arms and lightly stroke your head. He may not be the most romantic guy but he knows that you are distraught and need him.
Of course, he will be fucking happy when he understand that you are crying because you are happy that he loves you back.
But you are at that moment his priority and he will not ask questions until you feel ready to talk again - a.k.a you stopped crying.
He ist absolutely chill and somehow knows how to help.
Varric
Tumblr media
Will chuckle to himself in a manner of "What the hell did I do?"
He may get defensive, a bit like Dorian.
He is simply insecure too. Often Varric doesn't seem like that but it is a completly new area for him and because of that he can not understand why you are crying.
I could imagine, that he would pat your shoulder, trying to be there for you but also feeling like he lost the ground beneath his feet because he does not understand why you are crying. Does it mean, that you love him back or because you are scared of him? Of your lost friendship?
He will tell you that you don't cry again please because he doesn't know how to act. And yes, he will tell it to you just like this.

I will say- as much as I am not a Solavellan guy, if the game allowed me to have a doomed tragic romance with Solas and Cadash, ending with dwarf's tragic realisation that they will never work because nothing can make him see them as equals... then I would bite.

Dragon Age: Inquisition tickle HCs
Josephine: As a lee, this beautiful Antivan woman is very ticklish, and has a very loud but cute laugh, and she often slips into her native language when tickled; her tickle spots are her thighs and underarms. Wasn't tickled a lot as a kid so she didn't build up much of a resistance. Mainly tickled by Sera, Vivienne, and Leliana; but as a ler she will absolutely wreck you, always going for slow, light, feathery tickles that would drive anyone insane.
Sera: As lee she's pretty ticklish, and her laugh is full of cute snorts that come here and there; this poor elven woman has rather sensitive knees, so much so that one stroke has her giggling. Tickled by everyone, because she keeps pulling pranks on them; as a ler she uses her rouge skills to do surprise tickle attacks, tickling quick and methodically.
Dorian: This man is absolutely adorable, he has a very breathy and squeaky laugh and he is moderately ticklish; if you tickle his ribs be ready to catch him because he'll fall to the floor in laughter. Mainly tickled by Sera and Iron Bull. This man is a mega ler, who will destroy you by using his magic to help him, shocking you here and there with tiny bolts of lightning to make you squeal
Cullen: Averagely ticklish, this man holds a very shriek filled laugh, especially if you squeeze his sides. Tickled by Sera mostly. As a ler he's very gentle and tries not to go too far as he doesn't want anyone to get hurt.
Solas: Average ticklish, he has a normal laugh but his ears are to die for, when they pin back as he's tickled; worst spot is his stomach. Nobody tickles him not even Sera because he's a mean ler who will tease you to no end, and he'll tickle you until you can't even form normal sentences anymore let alone talk.
Vivienne: Slightly ticklish, she has a very strange laugh its deep with a few shrieks; tickle her underarms and she'll be nothing but putty. Normally tickled by Josephine because she starts political arguments with her, and it turns into a tickle fight that Vivienne usually wins. A cruel ler, who teases, uses baby talk, and uses her magic to retrain the helpless victim.
Cassandra: Slightly ticklish, she has a very squeaky and giggly laugh; if you squeeze her hips this strong warrior is dissolved into a giggly puddle. Only tickled by Leliana because everyone else is afraid. Cassandra is a very cruel ler, she'll tickle her victims until they're gasping for air or are on the brink of peeing themselves, she also likes to play games with her victims using a number game like "Guess my number" or using nursery rhymes.
Cole: This boy isn't that ticklish, but when you do get to chance to tickle him, he'll giggle, and teleport away; his ears are the only ticklish part on his body. He's not tickled by anyone as he makes them forget what they were even doing if they catch him by surprise. He's not a ler at all because he doesn't mind the tickling.
Iron Bull: Has a deep and loud laugh that can probably be heard for miles, he's not very ticklish but tickle his back and he'll thrash about. Tickle by Dorian and Sera mostly. Don't let him catch you, if he does he'll grab both your hands suspend them or you in the air, and tickle you ruthlessly.
Blackwall: If you are somehow able to tickle him, through his armor which he wears even while sleeping be ready to duck because he'll swing; his spots are his ribs. Tickled by no one because no one wants to be punched. As a ler this man tickles hard, and it hurts; he's very apologetic especially because on time while tickling Sera because she pulled a grease bomb prank on him, he left a small bruise and he felt awful.
Varric: Not ticklish at all, if you try he'll slowly look at you with a 'I'm going to get you' look before pouncing and pinning you down. Massive ler, who gives off big brother vibes, he tickles anyone who tries to tickle him with heavy ferocity, usually addressing and teasing the victim with the nickname he gives them.
Leliana: Not ticklish in the slightest, if you try you might loose a finger, your whole hand, or your life. Not tickled by anyone. Leliana tickles others as revenge, out of boredom, or she's stressed. Main victim is Josephine as the two are very close and she feels more comfortable in tickling her.

May I request yandere Solas with a reader who loves learning about the fade? Like going to him with a notebook and just taking notes on the littlest things and asking endless questions
Edit: Uff, so sorry I drafted this instead of putting it into the queue thus, I only now noticed, my bad!
Thanks for requesting!! ^-^
»»————-———— ♡ ————————-««
♡  You have to forgive him, for he’s doubted you for the best part of your learning process. At first, Solas was so hesitant, downright reluctant to tell you anything. What could you know? What would this knowledge give you? It’s not worth his time to go into details for someone that will yawn halfway through and cut him off before he even gets somewhere. But you prove yourself to be patient and willing, bringing paper and feather to him whenever you two have some free time. It’s not like he doesn’t want to talk it, or, for a fact, has anything better to do than talk about it, but he still doesn’t trust you fully when he finally starts opening up
♡  Only when you two find your new home in Skyhold, do you manage to catch his interest. Even if every hypothesis of yours about the Fade was wrong, you at least managed to bind him in a conversation as he explains it to you, sets it right in your mind. Settling on the ground next to where he’s working as he paints the walls, you listen to his explanations and stories, and when he is done, you are still awake despite it being awfully far in the night. You don’t even look up as he rounds you, looking over your shoulder at what you are writing, fascinated by how clean and thoroughly you put down all your notes about what he said. Maybe - just maybe - you are really serious, he supposes before sending you off to bed, making you leave your papers for the next session and so he can look them through without you knowing
♡  Whatever you need this information for, is no longer a concern for him. All he counts on is you coming back the next day, hanging on his lips, and satisfying your own hunger of knowledge. You two might be oddballs to everyone else, but he starts sitting down at his table with you, even getting you a chair so you can sit with him and not on the floor again. And he comes to like even the quiet time in between your talks and you having to write down what you just learned. Solas eventually comes to like your company so much, he starts to love the curious spark in your eyes, the way your fingers hold on to the feather, the delicate sound of scribbling on the paper. And he loves it so much, that once it’s gone, it drives him insane
♡  Walking up and down his ‘office’, he waits for you, but an hour passes, then two, and you still haven’t shown up. So he decides to come to you, if you are not willing to come to him for more lessons, and he finds you, to his horror, laughing and enjoying your day at the side of someone else completely. Someone he doesn’t even know, someone he wasn’t aware even existed in your universe. And your eyes shine at that person like they do when Solas talks about the Fade. Your fingers caress their gently, and your laughter fills the space like a beautiful symphony. He can barely watch you two, a weird mixture of feelings overcoming him. Between you and him, there was something special, something one of a kind, he thought, but apparently, you had more love to share than just with him. Beyond the feeling of betrayal, it’s hard for him to grasp just how much it hurts him. You are well knowledgable by now, almost as much as he is. Someone like you can't be wasted on someone trivial as your friend. You belong to someone like Solas, and he wants the time back where it was just the two of you, where he was all you saw when you looked up. Perhaps, it would be best to take you for a trip to the Fade next. Some 'hands-on' experience, so to say. Bringing you there would certainly give him a chance to have you all to himself, and he’d quite like that, for as long as possible
