PERCEPTOR 🔬   what they smell like: various chemicals (it changes day to day) and kinda smoky sometimes since things in the science lab have a tendency to,,, not quite work the way they were supposed to. actually no, occasionally an explosion is the desired effect. either way, things explode or catch fire there and the “fried electronics” smell sticks to you after long enough. beware.    what their favorite smells in the world are: the unique smell of antiques, like that of old documents or artifacts. someone got him a candle once that smelled like old books and he adored it. now he’s always got one burning in his room.    what pajamas they wear/what they wear to sleep in: he strikes me as the type who would just wear whatever he wore that day to bed honestly. mood    my favorite friendship and a cute hc about them: only mostly sure i picked this up from another continuity, but perceptor and wheeljack are such a brotp. wheeljack’s a nutjob and perceptor’s sane, they contrast each other nicely and their very different ways of thinking let them come up with some great stuff. they joke that between both of them they know literally everything, and i mean as two of cybertron’s greatest minds they probably do.    a song that reminds me of them: this is actually the last question i answered on this entire meme because i was drawing blanks, but then i was tune surfing on youtube and i actually really think he’d like video killed the radio star. there’s a weird charm to it i think he’d appreciate. my music taste is really weird its hard for me to find songs for characters xD    what animal i think they would be if they were an animal: deer 🦌    what position they sleep in: on his back, he has a hard time sleeping any other way. especially not his alt mode though, god that’s uncomfortable    their favorite drink: sweet tea    a gift i would give them if i could: probs a sick-ass visor like his TFA counterpart, he’s universally second on the list of “bots that absolutely rock eye wear”. that or a paper fan, but like giant-robot sized, because he lowkey seemed to enjoy his so much in that ‘face of nijika’ episode and it was really cute

BUMBLEBEE 🐝    what they smell like: really earthy with some mild ‘vintage (but very loved and cared for) car’ thrown in. he’s a ‘79 beetle which isn’t even old by 1980s standards but the scent persists. that’s just how it bee.    what their favorite smells in the world are:🌻🌺🌼 flowers, fresh air, and the rocky, familiar atmosphere of the ark that still vaguely carries the distinct scent of home after all these years    what pajamas they wear/what they wear to sleep in: the real fuzzy fleece kind, probably in some soft cozy color and complete with really dorky (but cute) fuzzy animal slippers.    my favorite friendship and a cute hc about them: i love spike & bee’s lifelong friendship, like its been twenty+ years between the start and end of the show and they’re still bros. i have mixed feelings about the timeskip that came with the movie and S3 but that’s one of the things that came with it im so glad we got to see. anyway as for a cute headcanon, despite not even being the same species or from the same planet they think of each other as brothers. (amusingly, they each think of the other as the little brother)    a song that reminds me of them: im sorry in advance but. this. always. mostly only the chorus and the happy upbeat tone of the song, though. the association has been there for twelve years and its still the first song i think of when i think “bumblebee” (of any iteration) and “song”.    what animal i think they would be if they were an animal: i know actual bumblebees are insects not animals but i cant not see him as just the fuzziest lil round bee there ever was.    what position they sleep in: either curled up on his side or just straight up in vehicle mode. if he somehow falls asleep not curled up he will, eventually, end up that way. is comfeee. comfee bee.    their favorite drink: rootbeer or vanilla dr. pepper, can’t pick    a gift i would give them if i could: this. not only because its a bee as cute as he is, but also its really big and thus good for a robit his size

I decided to go a snooping to see what they did to Waspinator in animated and how did they make the butt end of the joke comedic relief character for 52 3d modeled episodes have a sad backstory. How did they make me feel things for a wasp I already had emotions about. There's a reason Dinobot and Waspinator were both inducted into the Transformers Hall of Fame and I now know why Wasp beat Soundwave AND Shockwave (my gen 1 favorites)

Oh, okay! I’ll start with animated, after I rewatch Beast Wars (besides: I need to kake sure if there are any refs to those wars I can catch them). What were your favorite characters from animated, or perhaps arcs that you liked? I’ve been looking into animated as muxh as I can without spoilers and I /think/ I saw tell of Waspinator returning, and oh boy I love that wasp. It’ll be great to see him again!

bumblebee is my ultimate favorite. he was my fav as a kid and he still is, he’s so funny and obnoxious but he’s such a cute lil sweetheart too. i fucking LIVE for his and sari’s relationship, they are such a brOTP. sari’s one of my favorite characters too, i love her design and personality, and i was around her age when i was watching the show live so i could relate to her. highkey wanted to be her for halloween two years in a row and was really mad that they never made any costumes for her xD no spoilers but something happens to her at the start of season three that Basically Made My Childhood, it was that epic.

unfortunately the rest of my faves are rare appearances, there’s the jet twins from season three (jetfire and jetstorm) who i love almost as much as bee. i don’t wanna say too much cuz again ~ * ~ spoilers ~ * ~ but their backstory is So Good and their brotherly bond is cute to see and think about. they’re so bubbly and stupid and innocent and i really wish we got to see more of them and how they woulda interacted with prime’s team and earth in general ; w ; Plus they’re my favorite color combo, blue and orange.

blurr used to be my second favorite until the twins came along, now he’s behind them - unfortunately you dont see much of him either skdlfjkljdfs. I love his design (sleek and blue,, good combo) and he gives off like, snarky asshole vibes? like “i’m better than you and i know it, especially you bumblebee” and there’s a bit of a one-sided rivalry there because bee’s jealous of his speed and abilities and you kinda feel bad for him but at the same time god its hilarious. also i love his voice, both the way it sounds and how he talks super fast. its also a Mood because i too have a tendency to talk too fast and too rambely. blurr borderline is my inner thoughts :’D

there’s also wreck-gar, that wonderful fucking idiot who i adore so so so much. he’s so clueless and just goes along with whatever anyone says because he is a literal babby. an actual babby. he just showed up to this whole “living” thing like five minutes ago and doesn’t know a fuck about anything. his debut episode is one of my favorites, between the havoc he causes and how our main crew deals with it. (side-note but ratchet is in that episode and he is fantastic in it :’D) and like, usually i don’t pay too much attention to voices but the fact that he’s voiced by weird-al is literally one of the best voice acting choices ever made. he fits the character perfectly.

i have a lot more favorites like perceptor and blitzwing and swindle (LOVE THAT EVIL CAR SALESMAN) and arcee and prowl, And You Bet There Are More Still, but the ones i wrote actual paragraphs for are my Ultimate Top Five Favorite Bois (And Also Girl but she kinda shares spots with bee so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). as for favorite arcs, literally everything involving ratchet and his backstory. his whole thing with the war and The Things He’s Seen, his relationships with two characters i wont mention because SPOILERS and you deserve to watch it for yourself, how he deals and copes with it all... Thrill Of The Hunt is an episode earlier in the series and it’s one of my favorites just because of how it deals with it. It’s so fantastic.

I wont say much, but since you already saw it I will say that yeah Wasp returns! He’s really interesting too, both as a character and how he ties into the storyline ;0

Hello, you request asks and here I am, so... Here's a question! What got you into Portal, who is your favorite character, and why them? Bonus: If you know about the Orange Box (aka the combo of Half Life, Portal and Team Fortress 2), what are your thoughts on the rest of the box?

i got into portal in 2014 after getting into team fortress 2, i was starting to play Real™ videogames again and remembering how popular portal was, and the fact that my brothers were super into it, among other things i entirely don’t remember for some reason, made me decide to look into it later that year.

honestly i love everyone (i even did a chell cosplay at one point and it was pretty good! not amazing but good :0) but i’d say wheatley is my fav by juuuust a bit. he’s a dumbass and kinda relatable, but in the “does stupid shit, immediately regrets it, has no idea why the FUCK they did that” way not the... everything else way. also blue sky def made me love him a lot more, love that whole story and what it does with his character.

i’ve heard about the orange box, i think most people in any valve-based fandom have xD i don’t have much to say but i’ve played all the games it has to offer so i can at least say it’s got some Quality Games in it

Hatchworth is the BEST boy and I’m still sad he’s gone bc he would have had good chemistry with Zero... I just default to hin though I love his harmonics with the band

Jaa it woulda been interesting to see them as a four-bot group again with Zero and Hatchworth at the same time xD I’ll also miss his style of music, his songs on Quintessential were some of my favorites on it. But I really like what we’ve heard of Zero’s songs so far, super hyped to hear them on an album~

Hello I am back again, mostly because I'm curious and you seem to have more infomation about the newer series of transformers while I am in the dark ages. By dark ages, I mean I got through Gen 1 and beast wars and then never finished. What are recommendations about the newer Transformer series, as a place to start?

Hello again :3 Now I haven’t seen every modern TF cartoon but i’ve seen a handful, and I’m definitely not biased in recommending Transformers Animated to start xD The characters are cute and charming and all get some awesome development through the show, the style might take some getting used to for some but you grow to love it, the writing is amazing, the world building is absolutely nuts and so in-depth and all its stories are really interesting and entertaining. it spins a lot of TF concepts on their heads (prime is a rookie rather than some well-known leader, cybertron’s fine and under autobot control rather than Dead Completely, the war is long over but threatening to start up again…) It’s also got LOADS of characters (so you’ll probably have at least one favorite, or end up like me wiTH SEVERAL–) and throwbacks to earlier series that don’t feel forced or out of place. The only problems I have with the series is the fact that it got cancelled (not its fault) so when you finish it you’re left with a whole lotta salt at hasbro and cartoon network, and the human villains are kinda annoying but IMO they’re not the worst thing ever xD They don’t even appear that often. It can be really lighthearted and silly but it has its darker moments and episodes, and it gets more serious in season three. It’s got lots of what i think is called “fridge horror” too so that’s fun. It’s also neat because of how it doesn’t just blatantly paint the bots as Good Guys and the cons as Bad Guys, I mean the cons are definitely still horrible but they’re not just Evil For The Hell Of It, and the autobots do a lot of… really questionable things. Things are more gray than usual. If you watch and like it pls go email hasbro asking for season four lsjkdfjkldf

Then there’s Transformers Prime, which came after Animated - It was made for older audiences (teens iirc) and def gets pretty… dark. But the animation is really nice and the characters are too, especially the decepticons. Actually, the cons are more entertaining than the autobots half the time xD the human characters start out annoying (… okay, mainly Miko) but get some nice development over the course of the show (ironically again Miko gets the most development, she’s awesome by the end). Its my second favorite series I’ve seen and it does have a few boring episodes (there are literally… TWO recap episodes in the second season. because i guess the budget was dead or they were just too lazy to put effort into writing to progress the plot idfk, worst part is you can’t even skip them (unless you’d rather go read what happens Up To You) because the 5% that isn’t recap is necessary plot progression aaAAA) and the characters aren’t as fleshed out as they are in animated but it’s still absolutely worth a watch.

there’s a few more cartoons that have come out that i haven’t seen fully or at all. rescue bots lost me cuz its aimed at toddlers, i don’t like the direction they took with prime’s continuation Robots In Disguise but I wont tell you not to watch it just because i personally dont like it, research it on your own if you like Prime and maybe watch some episodes, come to your own conclusion, aaand i’ve seen the first ten episodes or so of Cyberverse which is the newest one? It’s not bad, but the voice acting is my biggest problem which is mediocre at best (not the voice talents, the voices are good for the most part!! but the way everyone delivers their lines just sounds,,, so bad. most of the time. its like it was fan-made, folks are trying their best but still not quite hitting the mark. and that’s fine if it WERE fan-made, but it’s… official… .. i heard it got better but i haven’t picked it back up yet to find out) and since the episodes are only 11 minutes long each it’s a good show to watch idly when you feel like it. it’s also,,, really silly. like almost G1 levels of silly at some points. and the character designs are nice, not my faves but they’re solid. IMO Bee is the best thing in the whole series, he’s just… such a good bean. If silly, simple, and a little throwback-y with a side of kinda-crap voicework that you can overlook is your thing I’d check it out, like I said for me it’s a good idle watch - something you can just, checkout whenever you have the time.

I also forgot to mention there’s the Unicron trilogy from the early to mid 2000s, I didn’t see the first two shows (Armada and Energon) but I did see Cybertron as a kid. It’s okay from what I remember¯\_(ツ)_/¯Been meaning to rewatch it and see if it’s still any good. From what I hear the first two are Trash and Cybertron is the only good show among them, and I remember enjoying Cybertron, so do with that info what you will.

This got reeeeally long and I’m not the best at reviewing shows so TLDR, in order of “PLEASE WATCH” to “meh”:

Animated is Cute and Very Well-Written, a Must Watch

Prime is Dark but More Or Less Solid, good for if you want a more serious tone for your giant robots. Highly Recommended.

Cyberverse is fun but the voiceacting is kinda weird, but still can be fun to watch every now and then if you can ignore it. I say watch a few episodes and see how you feel after that.

RiD2015 I didn’t care for but you should research it on your own and see if it’s up your alley.

Oh, thank you!! That’s actually where I found Beast Wars since I couldn't hunt down physical copies of them... since... it’s a lot of money. I’ll see about buying the set if I like the show, though! Maybe I’ll need to hunt for Waspinator’s animated Action Figure - I used to have one... but I hope you don’t mind me talking about it with you as I watch!!!

Opinions on Transformers: The Beast Wars? Not Beast Machines we don't talk about those. Beast Wars, with only one Dinobot, the Maximals, the Predicons, the one with Waspinator being so annoying to animate he got blown up in every episode. Ya know, the one with 3D animation that was revolutionary back then but now just seems kinda outdated and cringy?

I actually haven’t seen Beast Wars :0 I’ve heard a lot about it though, especially that it’s really good. but ‘robots that turn into animals’ never appealed to me and the animation, while great for its day, hurts to look at now skldjfjklfsd. The only reason I could see myself watching it is for the writing but right now it’s not on my to-watch list xD nothin’ against it though, i def see why folks like it so much

Wasp was always kind of a douche, even back then. Except he had reason to be back then because even his teammates blew him to shit over and over again - regardless, I’m definately going to have to hunt down this series for Waspinator alone, even if I can’t get over Optimus Prime’s really, really big chin.

Well at least he had a reason to be so bitter back then, but in animated… not so much c’: He’s just like that from day one.

PFFT yeah it’s another notorious part of the style, you get used to it xD except for a few shots here and there where it gets. hilariously out of control. not just for prime either it gets wonky for a few different characters who look more or less fine 99% of the time.

See, at the end of Beast Wars, Waspinator was pretty well off, so I’m curious to know if anything that happened to him aftr getting blown to utter shit over and over is referenced in Animated. However, I will definately keep an eye out for those jet twins - they sound interesting... any thank you for getting me back into Transformers! I missed the fandom and the characters so it’s nice to be back.

For wasp I’ll just say you’ll have to wait and see c’: I’ll say it now to spare you from disappointment though: Wasp’s storyarc goes unfinished thanks to the show getting cancelled. I mean it kinda has an ending? Just not a super good one cuz its heavily implied “There’s More…” but we never got it xD Coulda been worse though.

I always suggest supporting the official release if you can (buying it) but if not or you’d rather watch before buying, you can watch it on dailymotion! This user has all the episodes available, and even categorized them by season :) I think they even put all the episodes in the right order so you don’t have to jump around. If you like it enough when you’re done I recommend the box set, it’s got all three seasons spanning across six discs with additional audio commentary for two episodes (technically four, as one of those episodes is a three-parter lol) and it’s Very Nice 👌Def worth the money for any big fan of the series.
