YOU GUYS, I have SO been slacking on my blog posts lately. Between ULTIMATE nesting...and i mean not just organizing things here and there but crazy house projects and also getting ready for baby boy i haven’t had much free time. But things have officially slowed down for me and i am prepared as i can possibly be. So now we wait, literally. Today marks 4 days til Ashton’s due date and im SO excited. I cannot wait to hold my little man in my arms and snuggle him. I figured i would finally start off my crazy blog posts frenzy with these SUPER easy DIY shelves. I originally was going to purchase some shelves because lets be real, its just easier to buy something and hang it up than have to put effort in right?! Well....when i saw the $37.00 price tag at Target for ONE shelf there was no way i was spending that much on something that i know i could easily make. I set out to Home Depot and purchased one long piece of common board that was 10 by 8 by 1. i then had it cut into 3 foot segments. I then took those home, sanded them down making sure to round out the corners. Since these will be in a nursery i wanted to make sure that they were safe just in case anything ever happened! Boys are a litttttttle crazy ive heard lol. After sanding down your shelves you want to make sure all the sawdust is removed and that they are clean to the touch. The final prep step is the fun part. STAIN! You can choose whatever color you like during this step. Whatever color matches your style and your room. I chose a nice warm rich brown and ended up loving the end result. Next i attached these super cool and modern triangle shaped brackets from Ikea! They were so affordable! They are called the Ekby Lerberg and are $3.00 each! Total price for this entire project was LESS THAN $30.00 for all three shelves! You guys....ONE shelf at Target was more than that! Seriously i will NEVER buy shelves again in the stores. Making them is so easy and affordable. I love the way that these turned out and i have already made some for my dining room that i will share soon as well! If you make these shelves i would LOVE to see how you style them and where you put them in your home! Thank you so much for reading and i hope you try out this DIY before spending an arm and a leg on store bought shelves.

my most anticipated post is HERE. my finished coffee bar. I've had this done for almost 2 months now but i have been tweaking things here and there until its exactly how i wanted it. i am OVER THE MOON with how this came out. what started out as an old buffet on craigslist ended up being my dream coffee bar. a little elbow grease never hurt anybody. i seriously get SO excited to make coffee every morning! I've attached a style guide below of some great items to have in your own coffee bar. sometimes its hard to think of things that would go/make sense but remember the possibilities are endless. ohhhh and if you haven't noticed.....my rae dunn obsession is SO REAL. i have SO much fun hunting for all the pieces. a more in depth collection will be up soon! now pour yourself a cup of joe, sit back, relax, and decorate with me. enjoy :)

Have you figured out I'm obsessed with refinishing furniture yet? I've been getting a ton of requests on asking if it really is as easy as i say....well the answer is yes! The hardest part is truly finding the right pieces with the shapes and lines that you like. People have asked if i could film the whole process from start to finish soo here it is! :) PS....the staple gun was giving me a lot of trouble so disregard that lol. I found this gem on craigslist and thought it would be the PERFECT entryway bench! I upholstered the seat into a cushion with the cutest grey striped fabric! This project was SO easy and turned out way better than i imagined! Remember you can customize the paint colors and the fabric to whatever fits your style! I hope you all enjoy! Thanks for watching! :)
Products Used:
Rustoleum Chalk Paint- Linen White
Natural Brissel Paint Brush
Rustoleum Chalk Paint Sealer - Matte Clear
100 Grit Sanding Block
1′’ Foam for Cushion
1 Bag Batting
1 1/4 Yards - Fabric of Choice
Staple Gun
Staples
Hammer
Scissors
1. Paint Entire Piece with Chalk Paint- i like to do two coats but feel free to do more or less depending on your desired look.
2. Distress piece with sanding blocks hitting areas that would naturally be hit in daily use. But really do whatever you think looks good!
3. Seal piece with matte sealant all over with one even coat.
4. Remove seat from bench
5. Lay down fabric of choice with the printed side down on the floor, then batting on top of that, them foam cushion on top of the batting them finally the wood seat on top of the foam.
6. Pull the fabric tight on to the wood and staple into place, continue doing so all around the perimeter of the seat until completed.
7. Turn over and check to make sure the fabric is tight and to your liking.
8. Cut off excess fabric with scissors ( This doesn't need to be pretty since it will be underneath so don't worry too much about it!)
9. Flip over the fully upholstered cushion, add back on the bench and THERE YOU HAVE IT a brand new (well old new, but you catch my drift) farmhouse bench!

AND ANOOOTHHHHAAA ONE on the farmhouse bandwagon and I'm LOVING IT! Michael’s is ON the trend you guys! The selection is HUGE, and its all over the store. The more i walked the more i came across. They had everything from signs, to pillows, picture frames, vintage pitchers, plates, cups, baskets, wall decor, trinket trays, lights, clocks, and more! If you love farmhouse decor and didn't end up finding anything you liked at Big Lots or missed out on a certain piece you wanted GO HERE! I didn't even get everything in a photo because there was an overwhelming amount. The prices were a tad higher than big lots BUT this entire collection was 40% off and you can ALWAYS find coupons online. I ended up getting the round sign in the first photo and painted the word “farm” grey instead of red to fit my style! After the 40% off and a coupon i paid $25.00 and let me tell you...this sign is SUCH amazing quality! Its super heavy and made out of solid wood. Once again....RUN don't walk to Michaels NOW! I can't wait to hear what everyone picks up! Thank you for reading! More coming soon!!! :)

Sooooo the “Coffee Bar” trend has come full force...its all you see these days on Pinterest, Instagram, and blogs. Ive always thought it was SO cute but never really had room in my home to have an official space just for coffee. Well lucky me...my husband rocks and we did some rearranging to our home so i could have my own little sanctuary. It seems as if all my blogs start out with....i looked for a certain piece of furniture, i find one, but its WAY more than i want to spend. Well....this ones gunna start that way too ;) I had looked for WEEKS for console tables, credenzas, buffet tables, and honestly....there was nothing. UNTIL...one morning (6:00am on a Saturday, still have no idea why i was up that early) i was browsing Craigslist and found THIS GEM. It was only posted for 11 minutes when messaged the seller. She said she had already gotten 5+ offers and asked when i could pick it up. I of course said NOW. I woke my husband up (he loved that) and we set off to grab this beauty for only $30.00 (insert heart eyes emoji here) I had a vision on how i wanted to style this and paint it. I started with giving this piece a VERY good wipe down, then i took off the knobs, and middle door. I wanted this to be more of a display piece and less of a cabinet. I then used my same chalk painting technique as the other projects but this was my first project not using white. I grabbed the color called “Country Grey” its the PERFECT medium gray with nice warm tones. I did two even coats on the entire piece including the insides of the shelves. Once dry i added some super cute chic knobs that i found at Jerry’s for only $2.00 each! And BOOM its complete! I was SHOCKED on how amazing this piece turned out. I will say this one was the most difficult i have done just because of all the little spaces i had to get my paint brush into. I hope you love it as much as i do! Wanna see how i styled this piece into the PERFECT coffee bar with LOTS of Rae Dunn?! Wellllllllllll that might be coming soon ;) (hint hint) Remember pretty things don't need to be expensive....its better to but a nicely made furniture piece made with real solid wood then buying the crappy plywood pieces stores sell now a days that fall apart! With a little elbow grease anything is possible! Thanks for reading! :)
