I focus on the Light/Hikari Family the most, but every so often I'll look over to Wily's line too. It never actually occurred to me that my helmetless take on King would be the exact same as Wily's only human son (somehow I forgot Regal existed at the time, oops sorry).
Also is it not funny that both are named after something like royalty? It ends up working out, yay I hit a full-circle without thinking again! ( ~' <')~
Alas boys, your dad would not know everything about Wily's family. (1) Why would he? (2) King is kinda estranged now. (3) Maybe ask Grandpa.
#mew how could you forget dr. regal didn't your brother play mmbn5 as a kid#yeah but it never occurred to me to overlap him with the wily bots as I did the hikaris/lights for some reason like oops I Forgot#that said I really liked how I did king's hair somehow it worked sooo well -- at least now I know why ^^;#now you know he's a wily! :D (even if he's broken off from the old man)#doodle-daas#comics#king#dr. regal#megaman exe#megaman.exe#rockman exe#hub hikari#saito hikari#lan hikari#netto hikari#yuichiro hikari

Hello! How are you doing? This one’s a fun one. I assume that with Shademan being in here we’d have dark chips. Knowing that they cause dark emotions to be magnified I wonder how they’d effect the NEC-Navi’s(Terra) especially with Shademans ability how would it affect them? Especially if one of them is stuck in a long term exposure situation to the dark energy and emotions from Darkloids if say one was captured or something?Especially cause they can’t be held in one area due to their ability to go out into the real world and depending on their strength levels I’d assume Terra or Sunstar would be more dangerous. Tho I assume Sunstar wouldn’t be the most likely target because he spends more time in the real world while Terra stays more in the net. Do you think Shademan could possibly be able to go toe-to-toe with Terra or another NEC-Navi or just easily snatch one knowing his ability’s? How would this affect the others especially cause I assume theirs some regret over past experience with being overwhelmed with dark emotions? I’d assume if any of them were captured and held captive to use as a weapon it wouldn’t go over well. Especially with Sunstar. Anyway I hope you have a good day/night! Thank you!
Answers below! Been working on this response for quite a bit. Hope I got everything!
How do Dark Chips affect Navis?
Depends on who made them and what type of Navi they’re used on.
Dr. Regal manufactured his to function like a drug. You’d get a brief power boost, but then the withdrawals would hit–and they were lethal. The more you consumed, the faster they’d kill you. He intentionally programmed his chips to be this way.
Regal Chips → Bad.
Minx manufactured hers to function like recovery chips. She only made hers with Ra Moon in mind, knowing pure negative energy was needed to heal himself in a way normal recovery chips couldn’t.
Minx Chips → Good.
Using a Dark Chip on a ‘normal’ navi is not recommended, since they were made with Darkloids in mind. Depending on how strong the chip is and how many consumed, there could be several side effects:
Increased strength and agility
Deliriousness, loss of control, violent ideologies, lashing out, memory loss, etc.
Conversion into a Darkloid (as seen with Blues in the anime)
How do Dark Chips affect the Stardroids?
They give them a power boost, if anything at all, but a small one.
The Stardroids are already powered by Negative Energy Crystals, which are about as pure an energy source as you can get. Dark Chips are far weaker in comparison.
To compare Dark Chips and NE-Crystals, think about drinks! You’re in the middle writing a paper and need some energy to get you through. A can of Dr. Pepper has 41 mg of caffeine. A BANG energy drink has 300. Dark Chips are like Dr. Pepper and NECs are like BANG. If you drink the BANG you’re gonna be way more wired (or more powerful, in this case)
More on the last bit, though–
Minx manufactured her own Dark Chips to help Ra Moon as ordinary recovery chips did nothing for him, likely due to his alien code. Her method of making them differed from Dr. Regals and they were not mass-manufactured. She had a very limited supply, and they were usually reserved for emergencies.
Reviewing some of my Doc notes:
Dark chips are both very illegal and expensive as they boast an ability to permanently increase a Navi’s base stats. Minx purchased one and used it as a reference to make her own. Edward and his son found more than just Ra Moon when poking head around the crater the navi left, too (let's call them Dark Chip Crystals/Crater Crystals).
Dr. Regal was able to mass-produce so many dark chips because he would infuse his machines with Viren NEC shards, which would in turn fuel the chips without needing an individual crystal for each one, unlike Minx, who used an unrefined material (Crater Crystals) for her dark chips, hence her needing a crystal shard for each individual Dark Chip.
What would happen if there was continuous exposure to negative energy? To Dark Chips?
Hm...if one of Dr. Regal’s Dark Chips were used on a Stardroid, I imagine they would feel ill/become weakened purely as a result of the ‘kill code’ embedded into the chip's design that forces data to slowly delete itself. I’m sure the Stardroids would have a method to deal with poisoned data eventually, but whoever is afflicted would definitely need down time until they found said cure.
Fun fact! Around the end of arc 1, Minx reveals her knowledge of Dark Chips with the main cast in SciLab so they can start working on a cure, or at the very least a way to slow down the voraciousness of Regal’s data deletion program afflicting [a captured Darkloid].
This backfires on her later.
Long term exposure to negativity for any normal Navi is bad. Darkloids get stronger with it, though they become more dangerous to others. The thing about Darkloids, though, is that they willingly give in to those urges/to the power high. NEC-Navis/The Stardroids do not. Think of it as a battle of will! The Stardroids feel the urge to lash out and destroy, sure, but like all NEC Navis, they were taught to restrain themselves from their “evil” urges, lest they become a threat to Viren society and be…dealt with. Either by Sunstar or some willing GVC soldier. That doesn't mean some of them wouldn't give in to temptation, though. Eyeballing Mercury here.
The over-exposure to a 5-NEC Sunstar resulted in the Stardroids becoming nearly as unfeeling as their leader. They were still themselves at their core, sure, but anyone without the capability to feel remorse would act in cruel and unusual ways to get what they wanted. No moral compass to tie you down, you know? Especially if the only thing preventing you from taking certain actions is the vague memory of knowing you wouldn’t have done so in the past, or that it would upset someone you know you’re supposed to love.
Regardless, the scariest NE-Navis aren’t the mindless ones who snapped and lashed out blindly, but the cold, calculating ones who could pick apart a system by its threads. That’s what made the corrupted Stardroids so scary–people could tell there was something wrong with them, but couldn’t do anything because the Stardroids hadn’t done anything to warrant getting captured.
How would Sunstar react?
Hoo boy, seeing his fellow stardroids fall prey to their urges again would mess. Him. up.
You’re right that he would feel extreme guilt that he let this happen under his watch again, even if he’s not to blame this time.
Shademan vs The Stardroids?
I think Shademan would stand a pretty good chance against some of the tankier Stardroids like Uranus or Mars, simply because they're easier targets. Smaller ones like Venus would also be at a disadvantage, since she wouldn’t be physically strong enough to handle his close-combat attacks. Neptune is pretty slow out of water, but he does have his acid attack–so it’s a solid maybe for him. In water though? Good luck Shademan.
Shademan would probably struggle the most against the faster, more clever ones like Pluto, Jupiter, Terra, etc. Terra is the strongest out of that group, though, given his combined experience and long-range weapon.
Mercury and Sunstar are..in their own league.
Kidnapping a Stardroid?
Excluding Terra and Sunstar, all the others generally travel in pairs of two. Even if they were confronted one-on-one, the Stardroids are frustratingly powerful, and all of them have years of battle experience–far more than any Earth Navi–a run for their money. Kidnaping one of them is uhh..pretty unlikely.
Even if one Stardroid was indisposed or cut off from the others, it’s likely they would be found relatively quickly due to their unique energy signatures (thank you NE-Crystals). That’s not to say you’d be able to identify who is who if you placed two stardroids on opposite sides of a wall from one another, though. The only NEC navi that’s relatively easy to pick out would be Sustar, but that’s just because he has a much stronger, more concentrated energy (2 NECs) to pick up on.
The Stardroids/NEC Navis can also pick up on Darkloid signals, but they’re much more…faint? If that makes sense. Weaker energy source and all that.
But back to the first bit– you’re right about Sunstar being regularly unavailable as a target due to being in the real world more frequently. When Terra isn’t in his office on the Stardroid’s spaceship (or inside the ship’s systems), he can be found rooting out issues on the Net. Said issues are generally Viren or Darkloid-related, though. The existence of Darkloids disturbs him greatly. I mean, how do similar beings made of negative energy exist, if the Virens were destroyed ages ago? =)

Megaman Production Art Scan of the Day #609:
Dr. Regal Head Shot + Full Body Character Design Sheet [Wily Junior]
Notations include:
- Glove (on his hand)
- Height comparison to Netto
The most amusing thing to me is this sheet legitimately doesn’t list him as Dr. Regal, but calls him li’l Albert II instead. XD That early in production, I guess.

The Lost Potential Of Dr. Regal & Nebula
I've got some thoughts to spare regarding this guy:
Dr. Regal, leader of the Nebula netcrime syndicate and Big Bad in both the Megaman Battle Network 4 and Battle Network 5 games. Regarded as the weak link among the main villains in the series, far weaker a Big Bad than his father Dr. Wily, and would be considered about as solid a Big Bad as Sean from BN2 at best were it only not for his horrid showing in BN4. While almost a total waste in the games, he was made into a far more effective villain in the anime and manga adaptations (both titled Megaman NT Warrior in the west.)
I've talked about that before, but I believe that while Regal himself got rescued from evil mediocrity by the adaptations, Regal as the son of Dr. Wily and Regal as the leader of Nebula never quite reached his full potential anywhere in the franchise. For sure the anime handled the former better than the games and the manga handled the latter better than the games, but neither got it down definitively.
In BN4, Regal drops the bombshell that Wily is his father completely out of nowhere during his nonsensical moral relativity ramble at the end of the main story, literally seconds before he drops himself to his apparent demise. Obviously that's some shit writing, but BN5, to its credit, tried to salvage the idea and make something of it by having Regal and Yuichiro play off each other, with their plot all about Regal trying to finish work that was begun by both of their genius fathers, Dr. Hikari/Light and Dr. Wily respectively, only Regal sought to abuse that work in service of his own crazy scheme for world destruction. But then the game kind of sabotages that by bringing in Wily himself at the climax, with only the Colonel Version actually giving you the full scene and showing that it's even him. There is no substantial interaction between the father and son before the former breaks the latter's mind and erases his memories. Regal becomes a goodie who joins Yuichiro's research team, and then in BN6 Wily's the Big Bad once again and Regal never shows up and is never talked about.
So I can see why the anime had Regal as one of Wily's adopted children and the manga left their connection untouched. Like if you weren't going to make much use of him being Wily's son by blood, then what's even the point of going in that direction to start with?
But the problem with Nebula might be more galling to me personally. This is what "Nebula" is named for, what Regal plans to unleash:
Nebula Gray is a malicious software program made entirely of Dark Power, embodying all the darkness within the human soul, with the power to amplify a person's darkest emotions, form for them dark thoughts, and feed their darkest impulses, even giving them tangible form. The power from it in its base form serves as the core source of the Dark Power that goes into the making of Nebula's Dark Chips. The manga takes it a step further by saying that Nebula Gray is the digitally generated vessel for an eldritch god of darkness and destruction who sourced all Dark Power. Holy shit, that is EPIC.
Didn't feel all that epic in the game, though! And honestly, that's not on Nebula Gray itself - it services as a final boss just fine. I realized that the real problem here was with the Nebula syndicate. They did not work in a way that properly built towards the threat of Nebula Gray. And unlike all iterations of WWW or Gospel from BN2, there are no notable, named, fully designed humans in Nebula aside from Dr. Regal himself. Everyone else are generic masked Mooks.
As for the “Darkloid” programs that serve the syndicates, both BN4 and BN5 put together only give us these six:
They're alright, but Laserman.EXE (Regal's personal Navi) is only present in BN4, three of them are only present in BN5, and Dark Megaman is like Negaduck in being technically two different entities.
Personally, I think these programs from the BN4-BN6 trilogy that were not affiliated with Nebula should've been Nebula Darkloida:
I feel like this would round out Nebula's Darkloids to give them a far more distinct identity. WWW had a varied lot of minion programs, while Gospel was more distinctly mechanical/metallic in their programs aesthetics. Nebula, given what it's named for and sought to unleash upon the net, should've been full horror/monster-based. I mean, it's already kind of there with the killer android, the bat-winged vampire, the dark storm genie, the abominable snowball man, the alien being, and the evil Megaman clone. Even Regal himself, as I've noted, is like Victor Frankenstein crossed with Vlad Tepes/Count Dracula. Adding some more creepy, wierd looking programs to the mix, including a literal Frankenstein's Monstrosity in Junkman.EXE, would've helped to really push and solidify that vibe.
As for the lack of human operators? I think the approach to that needed to be something along the lines of what another despicably monstrous evil scientist, one Akihiro Kurata, did in Digimon Savers with his Bio-Hybrid minions. The human operators would be unseen because they'd be directly synchronized with the Darkloids, with the Dark Chip serving as a medium between the boosted powers of the Darkloids and the soul of the human connected/merged with their programs. Not only is this extra fiendish for corrupting humans with Dark Power and really leaning more into the drug/substance abuse angle of the Dark Chips, but in creating a dilemma where if Megaman deletes any of these Darkloids he could risk killing a human being. And that in addition to what Dark Power does to programs and how Nebula gladly has programs sacrificed as cannon fodder would make the syndicate as strong as Gospel in terms of being a scary threat.
Also, Regal could've afforded to be more like his anime incarnation because that Regal was fucking GOATed in what a menace he was.

I do think it's disingenous to claim the LoV members were "never actually oppressed by hero society" while omitting key details about their origin stories that brought them to their current paths, but yeah, this really is a Ransik from Power Rangers Time Force situation so far as AFO, Shigaraki, and Dabi are concerned; they have no interest in fixing anything for anyone else, not even their own kind, and only want to loot, murder, terrorize, and destroy, while misleading their comrades about what they're looking to achieve. (Would also make the MLA the Frax in this parallel, being more legitimate anti-villains).
Actually no. Here's what the LoV and their logic really reminds me of:
"All human beings are truly evil at heart, so civil society and "good" people are the true evil that causes all evil in this world because they judge fellow evil people for their evildoing and impose penalties for that evildoing rather than simply allow everyone to do the evil that's in their nature. Therefore I don't deserve to face consequences for my evil deeds, but you hypocrites should feel guilty for being mean to me!" - basically Dr. Regal and also the LoV's core philosophy.
There was said interview, where HK said that jpn audience hated the villains and since villains started to gain more popularity, the manga popularity plummeted each year and rn SJ is rushing HK to end bnha. Villain stans got totally mad of course calling jpn fans dumb, weird, saying they have a terrible taste and that jpn only dislikes them bc of the culture since they don't like out of the norm ppl gaining popularity and don't like to see opressed ones trying to change the system
So what do you think abt that?
Warnings:
*Mentions of Terrorism
*Mentions of Serial Killing
*Bad Language
*Anti League of Villains
**Anti Himiko Toga
**Anti Dabi
**Twice Critical
*Victim Mentality
Basically, Villain Stans may want to skip this.
First, I kinda knew that HK is being rushed to finish the story, as you can feel it when you read it. I wasn’t aware of the reason though.
Now I am not Japanese and I have never met one personally, but I don’t meet many people (I don’t like them, see?) so I don’t know what they’re thinking. But I think it’s insulting that westerns—yeah, I know who the culprits are, sadly--are making such a gross generalization. But if any of the Eastern parts of the fandom--particularly the Japanese--want to weigh in, then by all means, please do.
Why does everyone assume people hate villains because they’re “out of the norm people?” Jack Sparrow is “out of the norm,” and he’s the most famous pirate in fiction! The Disney villains are all “out of the norm,” and people love them more than the heroes! (And note how most Disney fans aren’t trying to justify their actions either.) Dr. Stein from Soul Eater is “out of the norm,” and—you all get the point.
Why is it so hard to accept that people hate villains because they do VILLAINOUS things? Is it really so hard to believe that villains can be hated because they kill innocent people, steal, and cause harm without remorse? And is it really so unbelievable that not everyone is willing to wave aside their crimes just because of a sad backstory?
Have any of the Japanese fans actually said, “I don’t like this person because they’re different?” Or have they given other reasons that people are ignoring?
“Oppressed ones trying to change the system?” Bullshit. That's my opinion on that. The League of Villains was never oppressed! (At least by the hero society.) Oh, yeah, I’m fucking going there!
Tago is a freaking serial killer, who wants to be able to do whatever she wants without consequence. Even if the thing she wants to do is drink blood without consent or drink them dry.
Dabe just wants revenge on Endeavor and has killed tons of innocent people to do that and even set up his siblings to die as well.
Compress comes from a family of thieves, who claims to want to bring corrupt heroes to light, but we never see that. Maybe his ancestors did, but here he’s just using his powers to hurt people and kidnap kids.
Twice was a criminal who was a one-man army who used his powers to commit armed robberies, battery, and assault (not confirmed if he crossed into murder).
And finally, Shiggy is a brainwashed criminal whose actions have been manipulated and controlled by All for One since he was little, and he never received the psychological help he needed after accidentally murdering his whole family. He doesn’t want to change anything! He just wants to destroy heroes because that’s what AFO wants.
Spinner may want to change things to help people, but he’s probably the only one.
Every single person in the league is a terrorist who attacked innocent people and resulted in mass destruction. Not one of them is innocent.
Endeavor is the only one on the hero's side who has hurt an innocent person and set a member of the league on the path to villainy. If Dabe only hurt Endeavor we would be having a different talk, but he hurt several innocent people and tried to murder his siblings, so here we are.
The worst that society has done was suffer the bystander syndrome, and yeah, that’s bad, but it’s something everyone’s guilty of. Everyone has seen a stray and ignored them. Everyone has seen a homeless person on the street and moved on with their day. Doesn’t mean everyone deserves to die, it just means we need to be better. Same with the manga.
Now the Meta league, that’s a different story. Yes, they’re still villains and killers, but they’re the ones actually fighting for their rights and unlike the League, they have points. Quirks are a part of who people are, and if they’re not hurting anyone, they should use them. It’s not fair that only “heroes” should be able to use them legally. THEY’RE the “oppressed ones trying to change the system.” And they tried to do it peacefully at first and only went to extremes when no one would listen, as back then there was a fear against quirks. And now, thanks to their history, they’re seen as anarchists and no one is willing to even listen to them. They’re still villains, but they’re villains with a leg to stand on.
The LoVs are just people who kill other people, then throw a fit when they’re called out on it. This reminds me of a villain from demon slayer, who was always going, “Stop picking on me!” or “I can’t stand those who bully the weak!” when said demon was literally murdering a village of people. That’s exactly what the LoVs are. They are stuck on the victim mentally because they don’t want to change.
The heroes are far from perfect, and they’ve done questionable things with the assassins, and Hawks, but the majority of heroes still do everything they can to help people. Some do it for money and fame, but they still save people. Even Endeavor, who is the biggest asshole on the hero side, still saves people every day. (He should still go to jail for child and marital abuse, and lose all custody of his children, but I digress.)
Stans and the narrative can push all they want that the LOVs are just “oppressed ones trying to change the system,” but the facts prove that they aren’t. They’re killers and criminals who want to do bad things without being challenged or made to feel bad.
The manga's not over, so there's a slight chance I may change my mind, but I doubt it. As is--well, I think I've made my feelings clear.
That’s all from me on the topic. Have a nice day!
