echo's of you: part 2 (Dr. Sarah Reese x oc fanfic)

a/n: I have no clue where this is headed and I am terrible at slow burns so here it is. Getting back into writing even in this form is actually highkey fun, I'm starting to enjoy myself a lot:). Please let me know if I'm making mistakes with any plot points from the show or medical jargon

Daisy stood in the mirror fixing her makeup, as she was applying eyeliner she sighed and thought maybe that was too much, would it look like she was trying too hard for her first proper shift, or maybe would it look like she was trying too hard to impress doctor Reese who had seen her paucity drooling over here. 

In actual fact, Daisy was applying the eyeliner to attract the attention of the pretty stranger, less so a stranger now Daisy had pieced together more and more about her, first her name and then her hand in marriage. Daisy chuckled at the thought before wincing, damn she was getting attached easily, but she couldn't help that this Doctor Reese was so alluring 

Daisy applied the last dabs of powder before setting it with setting spray and rushed out the door, she checked her watch,7:10, it read, damn she could just make the bus if she ran, and run she did. She came screeching to a stop at the bus stop, watching the bus roll off without her, she swore she saw the bus driver make eye contact with her, fucking idiot, she thought to herself as she tightened her backpack straps, ready to half jog to work. Her luck seemed to run out quickly today as it started pouring down as she made her way to work, her pace sped up as droplets of rain flung themselves down onto the pavement and entrenched themselves in her work clothes. 

By the time Daisy arrived at Chicago Med, she was drenched from head to toe, with the eyeliner she had so masterfully drawn, running down her face. She huffed and trudged into Chicago med, muttering a quick hello to Leah, who seemed extremely assumed at Daisy’s ruffled state, Daisy made her way to the lockers, head down. 

As she opened the door she collided with another person, sending her onto the floor with a crash, just as she thought her day couldn't get any worse, she lifted her head off the floor and made eye contact with Doctor Reese staring down at her. “Oh my god I am so sorry” Daisy muttered “I was going at such a speed I didn't even see you”, the doctor chuckled and extended a hand “don't even worry, im not the one on the floor currently”. 

Daisy clasped the Doctor's hand as she pulled herself up the floor, her hand felt warm and comforting over her shivering fingers. “Only 7:30 in the morning and you seemed to have run out of luck for today, caught in the rain I see?” the doctor teased, Daisy almost felt the need to return to the floor again as her knees weakened with embarrassment and complete shock the pretty not so stranger was speaking to her. 

“Oh um yes” Daisy tried to smooth her dark brown hair down, as it became frizzier by the second “Missed my bus”, she smiled weakly. The doctor lightly chuckled, “It happens to us all, I think I saw you yesterday you're the new receptionist here right?” she cocked her pretty head to the side, inquisitively, she was very cat-like Daisy thought to herself.

“Yes it's my first official shift today, yesterday was just some training” she quickly added “Im Daisy by the way”, she extended her hand towards the doctor, the doctor yet again took her hand and Daisy felt a shiver run down her spine. 

“Nice to meet you Daisy, im Doctor Reese, 1st year psych resident, most people around here just call me Reese, and if you're lucky you can call me Sarah”. Daisy hoped her luck would return so she could feel the name Sarah slide off her lips as easily as she thought it would, almost forgetting she was in a conversation she quickly stammered “Oh yes I know”, Sarah narrowed her eyes in confusion, “Oh I like meant Leah mentioned you yesterday” nice save fucker Daisy cursed herself silently. Sarah giggled, oh my god she giggles, somehow Daisy maintained a steady composure. “Well tell Leah it wasn't very nice of her to steal the opportunity to introduce myself”, “I don't think Leah likes it when I tell her what to do” Daisy says nervously running a hand through her wet hair. Sarah laughed again “That's right actually, look you’re already settling in, you know not to provoke her”.

Daisy opens her mouth to reply before the paramedics wheel in a woman thrashing in the gurney, strapped down. Sarah looks over at Daisy apologetically “Looks like a job for the first-year psych resident, I hope you dry up soon Daisy”. The way Sarah says her name causes goosebumps to appear on Daisy’s arms. Daisy watches Sarah run to the bed, consulting with an older man as they wheel the patient into a room. Well, Daisy likes to think watches the whole of Sarah but really her eyes were stuck on swaying Sarah's hips under her lab coat. 

Shaking her head in frustration Daisy began unpacking her stuff in a locker, before running to the bathroom to try and tame the frizzy mass of hair and somehow attempt to make her outfit look less like it was straight out from a 4-hour cycle in the washing machine.

For the first time in, I'd say ten years, I managed to draw at least one thing every month! Big thanks to Black Tabby Games for making Scarlet Hollow bc that game kickstarted my passion for art again after I had given it up for five years! I can't wait to play episode 5 when it releases!

My personal favorites. I put more time and love into these three pieces than any other artwork I drew this year. I honestly think these might be the best drawings I've ever made. They may not have done well, but I'm proud of them.

you know, hearing that dr kelly doesn't believe in psychiatrists make me wonder if she genuinely believes in what she's saying? like sure she could genuinely think that, or it could just be another way of keeping reese isolated because of his condition.

she does seem to genuinely care about reese even if her care lead her to do less than savory things so it makes me wonder if she's trying to write off therapy as a option to everyone else (including reese) so that they won't bat an eye when he doesn't go.

it's possible she thinks a therapist might open up his wounds and make him transform even if they don't mean to. like, allowing reese to confront his feelings about being locked up and allowing him to get angry instead of being complacent would be dangerous for her and, in her mind, for everyone else. ESPECIALLY if they were in person sessions.

idk it makes me wonder. hope this makes sense.

Hi Scarlet Hollow nation, I’m being completely normal about Dr. Joan Kelly I promise (I’m lying)

I want to make it clear that I don’t condone her actions. She is a horrible woman who caused irreversible trauma to her son and she should be held accountable for it. People do insane things when they are scared and I think that’s especially true for her. I know a lot of people are like “If Reese was my son I would figure out coping methods to prevent him from becoming a monster.” And sure! Maybe you would! But logically, I think watching your virgin birth child’s bones crack and reform would psychologically fuck you up. ESPECIALLY when it mainly happens when he’s mad. Like!! Imagine telling your son no to staying up late and he morphs into a creature that can easily overpower you and kill you because he’s unreasonably pissed. We don’t know what Reese was like in those three other instances. While he’s generally just kinda depressed now, we’ve seen first hand how his emotions take over when he’s angry.

And don’t come at me. I know that Reese becoming a monster is a metaphor for neurodivergence and mental illness! I also love his character and could write a novel on him because I think he’s great! However, within the physical world of Scarlet Hollow, he literally transforms into like an 8 foot tall monster who can unhinge his jaw and murder people. While from our perspective, it may be something to examine and find the symbolism in, from the Scarlet Hollow perspective he is akin to a massive predator with magical powers.

I just think it’s important to recognize that Joan is also a victim of the horrible town of Scarlet Hollow. The methods which she uses to survive are NOT ok. Again, i want to make it clear that I DONT condone her poisoning her son. Still, I can see why she felt the need to do what she did. She is a complicated character, as are all of the Scarlet Hollow NPCs.

Back to being silly now! I also like her because she’s hot and I would let her commit acts of medical malpractice on me <3

whenever i play Scarlet Hollow i can NEVER like actually kill Reese. like as a person with a bunch of disabilities, Dr Kelly and Sybil made him a self-fulfilling prophecy because his mother didn't know how to handle or talk about that kind of stuff. It's truly heart breaking and i feel for both of the Kelly's deeply for their unfortunate circumstances that just kept piling because of small things until it became something terrifying for both of them.
