Money! Money! Money! was the first Blackjack chapter I read... I was so shocked to see a human Uran and was really confused cause she was referred to as a different name but on one panel was sill called Uran??

Yeah, it can be confusing - it's a nod to the Tezuka Star System meta of all the characters being actors playing roles. So its simply a fourth wall breaking joke, since Uran is her original appearance. It is indeed Uran - she's just called Kasumi this time around, and is human.

Happens a lot in Tezuka stories. Such as Marine Express where Ochan is Ochan, he's just simply named Dr. Narzenkopf (iirc)

Theres a story in Midnight where human Atom and Uran appear, and they're adults. I don't recall that we had ever gotten Uran's name in this, but Atom is named Kanda.

These comics from NOW! Comics It's the most random shit possible, especially this pages completely out of context where Astro and Dr. Ten- I mean Dr. Boynton beat each other off.

Just based on some observations while talking with other fans there is a delightful variation and I am curious what the distribution might be like.

This isn’t to derail but if there’s one nice thing I can say is that AB 2009 was the only iteration of Tenma and Ochanomizu being friends prior to AtB. I like how it’s suggested that due to Ochanomizu’s friendship and support Tenma is redeemed as a father.

There was a gifset where the scenes in which Astro is born and walking for the very first time from 1960, 1980 and 2009 were compared and 2009 was the only one in which Tenma meets Astro in the middle, and you can see Ochanomizu right behind him in that same shot.

So while I agree it’s a shame Ochanomizu doesn’t do much in the film, I like how Tenma obviously trusts the man enough to confide in him instead of going all Phantom of the Opera.

Ooh you’re totally right! I guess what Dr. Tenma really needs is friends, huh 😭 One of my favorite aspects of ATB has always been Hiroshi (not OG Ochan but, his grandson) and Umataro supporting each other, so I appreciate your drawing that connection too. It’s too bad that a lot of the development on Tenma’s part happened offscreen in the movie, but yeah he really does come around by the end.

if i directed an astro boy reboot, as is my dream, the english dub would have new weird, more english-sounding names for a bunch of the characters, because thats practically tradition. but, just for fun, this time they would be more close to direct translations of their japanese names. higeoyaji would be Uncle Mustache. ochan would be Dr. Teawater. tenma would be fuckin idk Dr. Horace Kiron or smth

For the character thing, Dr Tenma cause I’m obvious and basic

Sexuality Headcanon: Due to being married and having a kid in almost every version of AB yet being considered an Bi-con in the fandom I consider him Bisexual, leaning toward women. Personality > appearance, the more he has in common with them, the more he's interested in them. Gender Headcanon: Cismale A ship I have with said character: Ochan, Atb!Hiroshi, Shadow and Hoshie.

A BROTP I have with said character: Again, Ochan, Atb!Hiroshi, Shadow. Maybe Ban and Tawashi. A NOTP I have with said character: Any other villains as Tenma is different from them actually liking robots. Also goes without saying but no underage or (Pseudo) incest!

A random headcanon: I like the 'Tenma and Tobio are Autistic' headcanon. I'm surprised I didn't see it before being ADHD myself and my brother being Autistic as well. General Opinion over said character: Good-looking and stylish character with complex characterization. I'm not surprised he's one of the most popular characters in the AB fandom. It took decades for him to become an main star but Im glad they pulled it off and I'm curious on how the reboot will treat him. Bonus: PLUTO and '03 Verse are my favorite takes on him. Special mention to 80's Tenma for being the most down to earth one yet, being more regretful of what happen to both his sons, being more approachable and shutting down Skunk even when he was in a tough spot regarding his job. While I do love the tragic villain that is '03 Tenma I'll still love to see this version get some more expansion even if in a spinoff title or something.
