okay but hear me out. shepard, given the option to either face the fact that they were dead. a chunk of meat. no heartbeat. no life. and how to try and marry that to being alive again? practically time travelled ahead 2 years and has to face the changes in both the galaxy and with anyone they personally knew.

My Reaction to Mass Effect Andromeda's Squad

Cora: Okay, can you tone down the fangirling? It's getting embarrassing. And I'm saying this as someone who used to be able to recite the entire Star Wars Original Trilogy from memory. Also, I'm not entirely sure it's legal for a straight woman to have that hair cut.

Integral Lessons (and one-sided limits)

Lexi mentions that she really likes Thaia’s voice. Thaia decides she’d like to hear Lexi’s sexy voice, but that requires irritating her to some degree. So, Thaia thinks a Dramatic Reading of one of Lexi’s novels is called for because if she makes fun of it, it might irritate Lexi just enough to get the sexy voice.

But the sex scene for the Dramatic Reading is hilarious (Thaia cannot keep a straight face), anatomically impossible, and there are five hands when it started out with only four. Thaia is still up for the challenge to find out if it’s possible, but Lexi says, “No, it isn’t, not even with biotics.”

Thaia continues with the Dramatic Reading. Gets to the part where one main character confesses their love to the other. Thaia is caught off guard by the feels and her Dramatic Reading ends up making fun of it/joking about it. 

However, that was Lexi’s OTP.  Lexi doesn’t take kindly to Thaia’s Dramatic Reading and when Thaia persists with it, she boots Thaia from the bedroom.

Thaia slinks off to the couch with a pillow. Finds a blanket. Is face down on the couch with the pillow over her head and then blanket over her head and body.

Both Sula and Dr. Aridana wander into the living area. 

Sula asks: “What are you doing out here?”

Thaia responds, thinking it’s just her dad: “How do you get your bondmate to use the Sexy Voice without pissing her off so much she makes you sleep on the couch?”

Dr. Aridana is the one who answers: “Perhaps you need to develop an algorithm.”

Thaia then wants the couch to suffocate her.

Mass Effect Andromeda So Far (Part 1)

Semi-spoilery.

So, I'm about 13 or 14 hours in, and so far, I'm loving Mass Effect Andromeda.

The combat is not quite as much fun as in ME3, which still takes the cake for combat mechanics, but I think that might be a function of the way the levels were designed.  ME3, the levels were pretty much rolling fire fights from cut scene to cut scene.  The combat in this game feels a bit more like combat on the uncharted worlds in ME1, with much, much better mechanics.  Fights tend to be brief, short and hella bloody.  I'd say the combat, so far, is a little behind ME2 in terms of sheer, unbridled joy, and again, I think that's a function of the length of the fights.  In ME2 and ME3, you could just find a groove and ride it for 30 minutes at a shot, as wave after wave of enemy rolled your way.  There may be more of that in the game later, but this feels much more RPGy and much less gallery shootery.

Not far enough in to really critique the story, but so far, I live Sara Ryder.  Her whole character has a "Wait, who the hell put me in charge?  I came on this mission to flirt with cute girls, give my baby brother shit and flirt with cute girls.” vibe.  Her main expression is a sort of pained “I totally know what I’m doing!  Drack, can they tell I haven’t got a fucking clue?  They can tell, can’t they?” look.  I love it.

She likes Vetra, she thinks Drack is the best thing in sliced break, and she’s secretly got Sam hacking all available data on Peebee so she can use it to help plan their first date.

Oh, and she got shot down hard by Dr. Lexi.  That hurt.

It's been a day and I don't think I've seen anyone mention in the video on Dr Lexi how it's said that she's the first person you see when you wake up. That it's like you're being "reborn" and there's this friendly face there that you're suppose to "imprint" on. I quite like that idea (it sounds pretty maternal, for one...). It makes me feel excited to meet this character.
