okay but hear me out. shepard, given the option to either face the fact that they were dead. a chunk of meat. no heartbeat. no life. and how to try and marry that to being alive again? practically time travelled ahead 2 years and has to face the changes in both the galaxy and with anyone they personally knew.

‘you were dead.’

[’i was. but now i’m back. so where do we go from here?]

or... to deny it. to have the folks around them who mourned, who are trying to cope with their return. and shepard? shepard who says ‘i got better’ because they can’t think about it. can’t accept they were dead, that life moved on without them. that they were gone but now they’re back and okay and let’s just move on, please, so they can keep pretending
