My birthday is on Thursday and my mom bought us tickets for the ballet yesterday. I can't believe I've lived here for over 20 years and I've never been to Dr Phillips Center!
The ballet was lovely. And the Orlando Philharmonic played the music, so I even got to hear the symphony too. I've wanted to go to a live symphony performance since I watched Mozart in the Jungle. Lol. But it's ridiculously expensive. :( Miracle side note, downtown Orlando is about 35-40 min drive, but thanks to how horrible I4 perpetually is, it usually takes more like an hour. But not yesterday! No traffic or slow downs on my drive there or back.
Anyway we had nosebleed seats so here's some professional photos from local media. Lol

Everybody is all smiles for the group picture, from heroes to villains and everything in-between. Even characters who were otherwise sticks in the mud like Hank genuinely smile for the picture. Villains such as Muntz, de la Cruz, Lotso, Thunderclap and his gang, Syndrome, Evelyn, Randall, Waternoose, Hopper, Skinner, and Ercole, as much of evil psychopaths they were, are seen tenderly and respectfully singing along. Even Sid, who was a massive bully to Hannah, is seen giving her a kind brotherly embrace. Also, most movies’ main cast seem to be cramped together. Even the villains stand near their respective heroes, everyone in a healthy relationship with their families and loved ones are tenderly holding each other close, and many of the larger characters offer their bodies for the smaller ones.
Forky, Heimlich, Dory, Jack-Jack, Mater, WALL-E, and one of the triplets wave at the camera.
Dim and Wee Dingwall give the camera dopey smiles.
The egg-shaped bluebirds and the gawky bird stand perched above the entrance. The bluebirds are happy to have the gawky bird with them, a far cry from how they treated him in their short.
Sulley carries Boo tenderly in his arms. Helen does the same to Jack-Jack, as do Presto with Alec, Carl and Russell with Kevin’s babies, Elinor and Fergus with their triplet sons, Embarrassment with Envy, Massimo with Machiavelli, and Izzy with Sox.
Terri attempts to dance before his other half stops him.
Hank carries Marlin, Dory, and Nemo in a coffee pot.
Voyd and Abby giddily bounce in place, clearly the most excited for the photo.
Linguini carries Remy while Colette holds Django and Emile.
WALL-E and EVE hold the umbrellas from The Blue Umbrella.
HAN-S still can’t stay still, shaking aggressively as the photo is taken.
Kevin and her babies take the time to mimic Carl once again.
Maudie and the Clan Dingwall hunk share a loving look.
Young Macintosh flexes his pecs while giving the camera a cocky smile, the same type of smile given by characters like Terry, Darby, and Clod.
The Witch has her Crow standing perched on her shoulder.
Being stationary volcanoes, Uku and Lele are unable to leave their photo. Thankfully, they have Thunderclap to hold it so they can be in the group picture.
Nostalgia sticks her head out from behind Embarrassment, clearly hiding from the other emotions.
Riley, Grace, and Bree all carry Knick together while Riley’s parents carry the Miami and Florida knick knacks, Val and the Fire Hawks carry the Egypt, Jamaica, Palm Springs, Israel, and Death Valley knick knacks, and Coach Roberts carries Sunny Atlantis in her fish bowl.
Cindy, Son’s fiancée, winks at the camera as the photo is taken.
Machiavelli gives the camera his standard bored look.
Mei has her red hair, panda ears, and panda tail, continuing to embrace her panda.
Aaron Z gives the camera a thumbs up while Tae Young makes a heart with his hands.
Izzy gives Sox a neck scratch.
Alisha and Kiko’s inclusion also counts due to their backlash following the movie’s release.

Maude E. Callen (November 8, 1898 – January 23, 1990) was a nurse/midwife in the South Carolina Lowcountry for over 60 years. Her work was brought to national attention in W. Eugene Smith’s photo essay “Nurse Midwife,” published in Life on December 3, 1951.
She was born in Quincy, Florida. She had twelve sisters and was orphaned by the age of six. She was brought up in the home of her uncle Dr. William J. Gunn, a physician in Tallahassee.
She had her primary education at the Saint Michael’s and All Angels Parochial Schools. She attended Florida A&M University, where she was part of the Alpha Gamma Chi Sorority. She graduated and completed a nursing course at Tuskegee Institute. She graduated from the Georgia Infirmary and in tuberculosis care at the Homer G. Phillips Hospital in St. Louis.
She devoted her life to nursing in some of the most poverty-stricken areas in the South. By 1923, she had set up her practice as a nurse-midwife in Berkeley County, one of the poorest in South Carolina at the time.
She married William Dewer Callen (1921) and they moved to Pineville, South Carolina, where she was called as a missionary nurse. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

No crunking, but lots of haterating and hollerating and even some situations:
BRUTE FORCE (1947): Aptly named prison drama about a group of convicts (including Burt Lancaster, Charles Bickford, and radio actor Howard Duff) in a battle of wills and wits with the sadistic guard captain Munsey (Hume Cronyn). Forcefully directed by Jules Dasssin and certainly vivid, but the few moments of levity the Richard Brooks screenplay provides — such as a droll flashback sequence where former conman Spencer (John Hoyt, who later played Dr. Phillip Boyce in the original STAR TREK pilot) affectionately recalls the slick dame (Anita Colby) who once robbed him with his own gun — serve mostly to demonstrate that there's not enough light moments, even for such a determinedly grim and downbeat story. Worse, since the main action takes place entirely within the prison, women (including Ella Raines, Ann Blyth, and future TV Batgirl Yvonne De Carlo as well as Anita Colby) appear only in brief flashbacks. The film's main attraction is its superb acting — and even Lancaster's brooding sex appeal is somewhat overshadowed by Hume Cronyn's towering performance as the magnificently detestable Munsey. CONTAINS LESBIANS? Nope. VERDICT: Compelling in fits and starts, and Cronyn's Munsey is one of the screen's great villains, but it's so oppressive that your attention may start to wander, especially if neither Lancaster nor Cronin is currently onscreen.
HOTEL COCAINE Season 1 (2024): Colorful but sloppy Chris Brancato crime drama, based (apparently very loosely) on the life of a real person, Cuban exile and CIA asset Roman Compte (played, weakly, by Danny Pino), who, as the general manager of Miami's Mutiny Hotel, presided over the heyday of coke-fueled late '70s South Florida hedonism. Brancato uses this as a backdrop for a disappointingly ordinary gangster story, giving Compte a fictional older brother, Nestor Cabal (Yul Vázquez), indistinguishable from Brancato's previous fictionalization of Cuban cop/gangster José Battle Sr. in GODFATHER OF HARLEM (where he was also played by Vázquez), and pitting the brothers against a renegade DEA agent (Michael Chiklis) and an invading Columbian cartel led by Gilberto Henao (Juan Pablo Raba). Despite the title, the Mutiny setting is surprisingly under-utilized; the main plot is cliché-ridden and often listless; and the action is broken up by periodic fits of weird comic relief involving nervous acid-freak hotel owner Burton Greenberg (Mark Feuerstein), including bizarre appearances by Hunter S. Thompson (John Ventimiglia) and Rick James (Larry Powell) in the first two episodes. Pino is barely adequate in the lead, and it sometimes seems like Brancato foolishly expects viewers to find Roman sympathetic, which he really never is, even compared to his antagonists. The only real reasons to bother with the show are its Latina characters, including Roman's spunky teenage daughter Valeria (Corina Bradley); his sympathetic girlfriend Marisol (Tania Watson); and in particular Gilberto's sexy and sadistic Mexican enforcer/girlfriend Yolanda (Mayra Hermosillo). Alas, Laura Gordon is awful as Roman's loyal right-hand woman Janice, while Michael Chiklis, who had made such a strong impression as the antiheroic Vic Mackey on THE SHIELD, is just laughable as DEA agent Zulio. CONTAINS LESBIANS: Not in any meaningful way. VERDICT: Never dull, but too arch to be credible and yet not over the top enough to rival De Palma's SCARFACE, and unlike the similar but better-realized GODFATHER OF HARLEM, it has no particular insights to offer about either its era or its setting.
SEX-POSITIVE (2024): Cute but very dumb sex comedy, directed by Peter Woodward (who also co-scripted with Marie Kirby) about a down-on-her-luck young woman (Katherine Ellis) who moves into a New Orleans commune and, after her initial shock has subsided, becomes part of its loose-knit polycule of ongoing sex parties. The story tries hard to live up to its title, with mixed results: It largely avoids the performative dread sex comedies often evince at the idea of same-gender sex, and it even takes a few flailing stabs at body positivity, but much of its humor is still founded on the idea that people having a lot of (semi-public, maybe mildly kinky) sex is inherently outrageous, which means that if you don't blush and giggle at the mere idea of a sex party, the movie is only occasionally funny. On the other hand, it's refreshing to see a modern sex comedy that doesn't shy away from nudity, allows the characters to actually have sex rather than just talking about it, and doesn't paint the characters' promiscuous lifestyle as a moral failing that has to eventually be recanted. CONTAINS LESBIANS: Yes, although the script leans a little too hard on the idea that anything other than complete sexual fluidity is somehow regressive. VERDICT: In a less prudish cultural climate, a low-wattage comedy like SEX-POSITIVE would barely rate a yawn, but in an era of rampant self-censorship and dreary bourgeois repression, its dopey, good-natured smuttiness is sort of endearing.
SUNRISE AT CAMPOBELLO (1960): Okay Dore Schary film adaptation (directed by Vincent Donehue) of Schary's Tony-winning play, starring Ralph Bellamy (reprising his award-winning stage role) as Franklin Delano Roosevelt, recently stricken with infantile paralysis and struggling to decide if he can still have a political future, with Greer Garson as Eleanor, Ann Shoemaker as Franklin's imperious mother Sara, and Hume Cronyn as his friend and political advisor Louis Howe. At first, both Bellamy and Garson seem like they're overplaying their roles, with a bigness more suited to stage than screen; Garson's performance never really stops feeling like caricature, but Bellamy eventually disappears into his part and becomes surprisingly convincing. Cronyn and Shoemaker are both excellent, and extensive use of location shooting (including scenes staged in the Roosevelts' actual homes) keeps the film from feeling objectionably stage-bound, but the narrative's emphasis on the heroism of overcoming chronic illness (a struggle FDR took great pains to conceal as much as possible) is awfully sticky at points, and if you're not American, you may wonder what all the fuss is about. CONTAINS LESBIANS: There have been arguments for years about Eleanor (in particular surrounding her relationship with reporter Lorena Hickok), but you'll find none of that here. VERDICT: As biopics go, it's pretty top-drawer, but if you're not a history buff or don't care about the Roosevelts, it probably won't hold your interest.

JUST A CRAZY ROUGHNECKS DAUGHTER:
life isn’t much of anything when you’re the middle of 11 kids. on the farm it was early to rise and early to bed, everyone had a chore and unfortunately doris, the eldest of the kids, was given childcare duty more often than not. but the perk of being the middle of 11, is the ability to disappear. her father only cared about three (four) things; god, farm, family, whiskey. her mother followed a similar path and well...granny jo wasn’t the best idol according to her mother. and so ida decided to carve her own way in the world.
you see, the thing about being number six of eleven means you get exactly zero attention. and so you go seeking your attention elsewhere. and ida found that attention in the arms of bobby perkins. she was fourteen, him seventeen, and ida was smitten from day one. he talked her up, picked her up at the bonfires when she snuck out of the house, and promised that he would take her away from eastern tennessee. and then she graduated at 17 (a year early because to everyone’s surprise ida was actually quite intelligent), and took her to the majestic land that was florida.
living in a trailer park as bobby developed a bit of a following with his promise of love and freedom, and god-fearing community, ida realized just how much she liked the spotlight. she liked when people fawned over her, when they showered her with affection, and when they believed the words that left her mouth. it was easy work for her, talking to people, making them feel heard, inviting them in to the group. this was what she was made for.
but bobby didn’t like it. he didn’t like that others started to love ida more than him, that she would say something in opposition to him. always sweetly, always veiled as compliments and adoration for him. and so he came up with the plan to dump her, to leave her stranded, to get her away from his life, his goals.
and then suddenly ida was back on her parents front porch, saying she’d been accepted at ogden with a full ride, that bobby was still in florida and she had no idea what happened to him. and then she kissed her mother and father goodbye and moved to new hampshire for her future.
JUMPED HEADFIRST INTO THE WATER:
starting college as a freshman at twenty came with a whole list of questions. she answered them easily, she needed time between high school and college to get some real world experience. she wanted to travel, to work and save her money, but she always knew she would go, and that ogden was the place.
and then a year later greer started, and ida zeroed in on her. she was perfect for ida’s ego, for her life to befriend such a golden girl. to whisper words of wisdom. but soon greer, either seeing through ida’s facade or just over it altogether, gave ida the cold shoulder.
but she was undeterred, continuing on her merry way but always keeping an eye on the campus golden girl. she laughed when others needed the comedic boost, gave out compliments to those who needed it, and offered her support as needed. but it just isn’t enough is it?
BAPTIZED AWAY MY SINS:
looking forward, ida is hoping to continue to apply herself. charming anyone and everyone she can, collecting people in her pocket for when she needs them, making loyal friends and followers. currently she’s applying to master and phd programs, including the one at ogden, to continue her studies. and she’s keeping her eye out for the golden girl, curious to her disappearance, though a bit thrilled in the mystery. ida would never turn down the drama, and is not above going the extra mile when she’s a bit bored.
GREER:
ida entered college at age 20, with too much real-world experience it seemed. everyone was so boring at ogden, making problems out of nothing, feeding each other’s egos. and yet, ida knew what she could tap into while she was there, the wealth, the connections, the power. everything she needed, what she had never had. and enter greer, a beautiful eager girl with everything ida needed, everything she wanted to be. and so she quickly took to her side, hoping to offer friendship, advice, to mold her into the person that ida needed her to be. and it seemed to work for a while, greer maintaining her own self but still ida could clearly see her influences. until it stopped completely, greer icing her out of her life in one fell swoop. and in less than a year, ida went from building her empire and future on poor little greer, back to nothing. still she kept her tabs on greer, and she knew greer did the same. they acted polite and kind in public, a weird relationship of knowing each other but not really. ida played it off, acting as if greer was but a younger sibling to her. but to everyone else it was just an odd friendship that didn’t survive the test of time in college, nothing more and nothing less.
THE SIREN:
she pulls you in with her sweetness, but only when it’s too late do you realize her true colors. like sirens drown the sailors, ida isn’t afraid to take-down anyone she feels deserves it. Whether it is valid or not. she doesn’t care who it is, and sometimes she does it just for fun. breaking the hearts of boys and girls, dragging people's names through the mud, spreading a rumor to take them down completely. whatever it takes, she’ll do it. for her safety, for her entertainment, it doesn’t matter much to her. but even now, four years later at ogden, people haven’t seemed to really pick up on it. let’s face it, she won’t hesitate to push you in front of a bus, and will quite successfully convince you it had been an accident and she had been trying to save you from the bus.
extra:
previous tasks here
has a small shitty stick-and-poke tattoo of a cowboy hat just above her left elbow
has a small altar in her room decorated with random items that don’t make much sense to the outsider: a deer antler, a picture of a boy (bobby), a jar of ash, a few random stones, a small jar of honey, a jack daniels shooter

Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is under fire following the resurfacing of a decades-old college opinion article that saw him defend his antisemitic uncle.
Jeffries, who took over the mantle of Democratic leadership after control of the House flipped to Republicans in last year's midterm elections, told The Wall Street Journal in 2013 that he only had "vague" memories of the controversy surrounding his uncle Leonard Jeffries, a college professor in Black Studies who in the early 1990s denounced "rich Jews" as puppet masters of the slave trade and claimed that Jews were orchestrating a "conspiracy" against Black Americans.
"I have a vague recollection of it," Jeffries said during the Wall Street Journal interview. "There was no internet during that era and I can't even recall a daily newspaper in the Binghamton, N.Y., area but it wasn't covering the things that the New York Post and Daily News were at the time."
However, an editorial penned by the future Democratic leader in 1992, when he was an undergraduate student at Binghamton University, suggests he was fully aware of the controversy while it was happening. The article, surfaced by CNN on Wednesday, features Jeffries offering a defense of his uncle and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, while largely focusing on denouncing Black conservatives as "house negroes" and lamenting their acceptance by the "white media."
"Dr. Leonard Jeffries and Minister Louis Farrakhan have come under intense fire," Jeffries wrote at the time. "Where do you think their interests lie? Dr. Jeffries has challenged the existing white supremist educational system and long standing distortion of history. His reward has been a media lynching complete with character assassinations and inflammatory erroneous accusations."
Leonard Jeffries continued to make remarks that were denounced as antisemitic by groups like the Anti-Defamation League for many years after his nephew defended him, although he eventually lost his job at City University of New York following a series of legal battles. Other remarks by Leonard Jeffries reportedly include references to Jews as "dogs" and "skunks" hoping to "stink you all up."
Republicans pounced on Hakeem Jeffries following the publication of CNN's report, accusing the Democrat of being antisemitic himself while lashing out at him for previously brushing aside his uncle's controversy and for denouncing Black conservatives.
"Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and now Hakeem Jeffries," the National Republican Congressional Committee tweeted. "Why are House Democrats so interested in giving a platform to anti-Semitic voices?"
"For years, House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries has claimed he has only a "vague recollection" of his uncle's antisemitism. But CNN's @KFILE has the receipts — and Jeffries is on record DEFENDING both his uncle AND Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan," tweeted the RNC Research account.
Republican Congressman Byron Donalds of Florida called for Jeffries to "apologize for what he wrote in that article" and take part in a "debate about Black conservatism versus Black liberalism" during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Wednesday.
Jeffries was also defended by some, with Democratic Representative Dean Phillips of Minnesota, who is Jewish, tweeting, "few Americans are more committed defenders of the Jewish community, and all communities subject to hate, than Hakeem Jeffries."
In a statement emailed to Newsweek, Jeffries spokesperson Christie Stephenson said that "Leader Jeffries has consistently been clear that he does not share the controversial views espoused by his uncle over thirty years ago."
"Leader Jeffries has been in public service for more than 16 years as a state legislator and Member of Congress," Stephenson continued. "His track record of bringing communities together and standing up for everyone speaks for itself."
