Man I'm so happy I got the Payday 3 gold edition so that I immediately have the new DLC which adds a new enemy, the techie, which is definitely my fave enemy cause who wouldnt love a hard af to find hidden enemy that sends overpowered machine gun drones after your ass and makes the game impossible to beat even on the easiest difficulty...
This shit on normal difficulty is almost just as bad as payday 2's death sentence 1 down... dozers have become a joke compared to the techie.
I hope they fucking change the techie soon cause I literally cant solo loud this game for fun anymore, its pure challenge and frustration now... great job overkill, and its expensive af too. Pay 20 bucks to downgrade your game to a basically unplayable status, right now where I could use some chill cop shooting to destress from life's bullshit. Back to payday 2 and payday the heist I go until this shit changes.
If even I am this pissed about something you know you fucked up cause I have forgiven all of PD3's bullshit so far, but this is just pure hate on solo players and a big fuck you from the devs... I did not expect this from them with how great PD2 was.
Also make this ass game available offline, my wifi is bad in the winter and I lose connection constantly. Even if it does work, I lag as hell.
Edit:
And before ANYONE says "just go find the techie and kill her." It is not that easy to find her when you are stuck in a room with a dozer on the left, a taser on the right, a nader about to gass you from behind, a cloaker above you, 6 drones dancing around you, 2 shields blocking the door and then outside of the room is the entire FBI and outside the building probably a sniper or 3.... plus a new techie takes the old one's place WAY too quickly afterwards.

The Leviathan Company Session 8
We got some dogs and Lily finally got a job for her organization. It involved stealing a bunch of diamonds from a jewelry store, and we could use that for a mass-revival spell. Anakiir had to go for a bit, and he gave us explicit instructions not to do a crime.
So, we turned DND into Payday 2.
Here's the plan: First, the team would need codenames.
Dar would be Dallas
Lily would be Hoxton
Ivan would be Chains
and Zeta would be Wolf. I will be using these names for the description of the heist, so pay attention.
First, Hoxton would negotiate with a local gang (I forget why, maybe for resources?) Next, Wolf would go to the far side of town and empty out the Bag of Infinite Gerbils he got at some point to cause a distraction. This would be Dallas, Hoxton, and Chains' cue to enter the store, and start holding it up. By the time Wolf gets back, they would have cracked into the cellar to access the goods.
However, when the gang tried to escape, they encountered a rather large guard wearing what seemed to be a skull mask. Lily cast an invisibility spell so we could sneak past, but then we encountered another guard, and we drop invisibility and have to fight the two guards off.
There were two guards and a wizard at the beginning of the fight, which we'll be calling the medic, the taser, and the dozer. The taser repeatedly casted a lightning spell on us, the dozer hit hard and soaked up damage (though, he was preoccupied fighting Wolf), and the medic healed any guard who got hurt. We took down the medic first, then Hoxton took down the taser with a lightning spell of her own. Then, it was down to the dozer.
Wolf tried to deal lasting damage to the guard, but it was all like a mosquito bite to him. In fact, one of his handaxes SHATTERED against his armor. Fortunately for Wolf, he found a weakness: the dozer's mask isn't as heavily armored as the rest of his body. So, Wolf started aiming for the mask, which cracked like an egg. At this point, the Dozer called for backup, but Dallas destroyed his sending stone. Unfortunately for us, backup still came.
The Cloaker arrived. The bane of all heisters. A soldier who can knock any foe to the ground in a single dropkick. And he knew how to dropkick. Once Wolf finished the dozer off, all eyes were on the cloaker, who we took down.
After that was dealt with, we booked it, victorious.

You know that headcanon list of rejecting the fbi bois from payday 2, can i request one where they rejected the reader?
okay hi yes
the idea is interesting , but i feel like all of the fbi units wouldn't really be affected by it ?
maybe dozer would feel a bit bad and medic would feel terrible and try to make you feel better , but the rest would probably just brush it off like nothing happened .
unfortunately it's not enough for a full post , but there's some little ideas for ya :]

So I’m cosplaying Nearl this year for my Con Comeback (haven’t been since 2019), but next year I wanted to do a Payday 2 cosplay since that’s my latest hyperfixation and I don’t see it going away anytime soon.
Either, like, bullying my dad into doing a dual Bulldozer cosplay with me (I call dibs on the Skull/LMG dozer, he can probably be either one of the shotgun dozers or the minigun dozer)
Or I can make a ‘heister-sona’ and basically just wear a lolita/girly kei coordinate with body armor and a mask and then carry around a decoden LMG and some fake cash/coke/gold in my pink duffel bag.
Now that I type it out the second idea sounds really fun actually.

(this is for all you Dozer x Medic shippers this ones for you)
Dozer : Wait, what's going on? Are we all talking about how hot Medic is? Because Medic is a straight up sexual fox riding a red-hot nuclear bombshell right toward the yowza plaza in the heart of Babe City, Assachusetts, U S A. The last A just stands for more ass.

It's apples and oranges AND my experience against the newer of these units isn't as extensive as it needs to be for me to go on a full rant like "I'm right and they are wrong!" so this is just my gut and how I personally feel fighting them but
Overseers in helldivers 2 kinda feel like inverted bulldozers from payday 2.... and don't work or scratch any satisfying itch at all to fight because of it.
Like pd2 bulldozers are basically 2 health bars.
1 GIANT one that's their main health, you can hurt this by shooting the body or the back of their head.
and 1 "tiny" healthbar that's the face mask to their helmet.
Damage to one doesn't hurt the other, but if you destroy the face mask you get access to a unique weakspot that takes a billion damage on the face itself.
The gameplay of countering a dozer (ignoring meta or explosive stuff etc, just the base design) is to either pour a ton of firepower into their body, or sharpshoot (skill test) / endanger yourself by getting close to fire at the face mask so you can drain that big health bar far more quickly by hitting the soft face hitbox.
It becomes "aim broadly at them and be punished, or aim precisely and get rewarded".
Overseers also do the double healthbar thing, but also use helldivers varying armor types.
They have light armor on the body, and medium on the head.
The "inverted" part is that the head is the same all the time forever- the BODY armor breaks off when shot so you do more damage to what's underneath. (Also damage to the armor appears to harm the main health I think, though maybe not because you do require a ton more to be done to kill through that armor but for light it interacts with the armor pen system so you're doing less damage to that main healthbar unless you use med pen+ anyways).
The thing is, the way this bizarre armor swap interacts with the arsenal we have and the armor pen systems, you end up with a very different game experience than with dozers. Not as in "they play differently", as in there isn't really a meaningful game experience going on.
If you have light armor pen (most of the primaries, hence why so many are lacking in impact) then you CAN'T harm the weakspot- there IS NO means of getting more bang for your buck by playing better- you HAVE to shoot the body for reduced damage with the consolation prize of breaking the armor after so many shots so you stop doing reduced damage- but all of your damage will not benefit from any bonus of any kind.
Light armor pen weapons have no means of "playing around" these units- it's just mag dump til they die or stop using your light armor pen options which is usually fine- plenty of heavy armor units in the game afterall- but it feels out of place on a random medium unit with technically light armor. Realistically, just shoot til it dies. It's basically just a smaller, more agile terminid warrior, but with a bizarre armor system plastered on the part you're "allowed" to shoot.
MEDIUM armor pen can spray and pray and be rewarded with full damage (still not recommended)- but can also skill shot for the head for a much better damage zone.... but this bizarrely just means that med pen+ get double rewarded just for breathing air while light gets double punished for bothering.
Med+ on paper get to have some actual gameplay- spray for reliability or aim for faster kills. Now, in practice, plenty of med pen weapons are extremely lacking in the damage department and can't meaningfully take advantage of the headshot available to them- but some can such as the dominator, and heavy pen (as limited as that is to players) TECHNICALLY can take advantage though they rarely have to as many heavy pen weapons just do so much raw damage that it's borderline meaningless to target the head.
So, where dozers reward accuracy or aggression with faster kills, overseers kinda.... don't, unless your name is almost specifically the dominator for some rewarding 1 shots (pretty sure the counter sniper still 2 shots but I'll be generous and say it 1 shots, still few med pen weapons actively being rewarded enough).
Light pen get no meaningful gameplay variance- fire at the body until they die except after so many shots you'll be doing more damage.... except they will probably be dead by then so mostly it just makes them feel bullet-sponge like. They also get to "play around" a weakspot that takes no damage from them due to design decisions that feel inverted.
Medium gets an entire mechanic that's glazed over (the body now doesn't mean anything, it's just a damage zone and nothing more) and a weakspot that only some of them can actively take advantage of for a meaningfully fast kill.
Heavy pen doesn't care at all and just kills, so all the mechanics of the design mean nothing.
I don't really get it to be honest.
I feel like they wanted to give them a light armor head so everyone got rewarded for skill shots, but then they realized making overseers have medium armor pen for 90% of their hitbox was annoying in a game where light armor pen weapons are all over the place (and floundering in mediocrity).
Kinda just an enemy that reinforces to me that light armor pen lacks real purpose atm.
The best "crowd killers" aren't light armor pen, it's stuff like incen/gas grenades, flamethrowers, the incen part of fire shotguns (not the shot itself, but I'll give you that since they are light), it's not the Liberator due to Fast ROF And Good Ammo Economy (to do what with?).
The best "medium" killers aren't light armor pen, it's stuff like the counter sniper, dominator, eruptor if you're feisty etc. By Armor Pen Rules And Doctrine- it's not the light armor pen weapons since most medium units sport medium armor.
The best "heavy/tank" killers aren't light armor pen. Don't even gotta really explain that one.
Light armor pen is basically a paperweight in the arsenal- a thing we only bring because we lack useful options outside of it in some categories or because the weapon has some unique effect (as rare as that is).
Perhaps the initial design was for the overseers to have light heads and medium bodies, but the armor fell off after enough hits to allow light the option- but they couldn't get it to work since the base mechanic dictates that light pen does 0 to medium armor which would mean the light weapons couldn't break it off to do damage to begin with?
Not sure really.
Like in practice are overseers egregious? Not really. No. Not at all tbh.
But in practice does their specific form of survivability- their primary defining trait that gives them a unique aspect compared to just about everything else in the game- make them more fun to fight or actually interesting in combat?
Also not really. No. Not at all tbh.
Kind of a dud. I think I blame light pen being useless but the end result is still an enemy with a gimmick that doesn't meaningfully expand how gameplay feels, it just kinda "is" and has the side effect of making light pen feel even weaker because a humanoid has an armored head against them instead of a weird bug. (Hell, bot heads even stay light to reward skill shots with light pen).
#my posts#no tags because the fans get grumpy if you don't adore every new thing always even though I'm not hating on them so much as tilting my head

Meanwhile, back in Payday...
So I'm watching TheKknowley's latest video and... oof.
youtube
I feel like this justifies my decision to uninstall Payday 3. There's no reason to keep around a game taking up 80+ gigs on my hard drive that I don't even fuck with. I might play it again in the future, but... eh.
It's a shame, really. But... oh well.
On the other hand I'm still playing Payday 2 lmao
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/505310e930683767b6e5e4efedbea51a/e591f45c84f0223b-df/s540x810/ef778095962a1d4e87d77954aa0e8bf88272ba59.jpg)
Every Wednesday and Saturday I do the Safe House raid. It's like a ritual at this point. And I love the days - like today - where the dozer piñata coughs up oodles of money. Usually it's like $4000 or so, and this time it's $100,000.
I'm still not quite good enough to beat the Safe House Raid on Death Sentence, though. I've done this so many times (like I said: every Wednesday and Saturday) and Death Wish seems to be the upper limit of my skills and ability.
But maybe that's because the Ea$y Money build - which is all about turrets, NPC heisters with squad automatic weapons, and two jokers - isn't really designed for testing my "skills."
But you can probably guess that from the name lmfao
