If you’ve ever attended any of my yoga classes you would know I LOVE standing balancing poses! Eagle pose or Garudāsana is another one of my faves! Check out this short video to see how you can add a little variety to this pose & below are a few steps to guide you! Get Ready to Spread Your Wings & Fly in Garudāsana: 1) From Tadāsana/Mountain pose sit back into squat; 2) Cross your right leg over your left a d squeeze. No need to hook foot around calf, just keep thighs together tightly; 3) Take an inhale and bring your palms into prayer, exhale to twist from the waist to the left. Hook elbow on top thigh or float it if your elbow doesn’t connect; 4) Press palms & finger pads into each other. Keep spine long, no rounding! 5) Draw left hip back a tiny bit. Hold for 3 breaths. Inhale to release to centre, exhale to back to Tadāsana Now switch it up a little! Change the cross of your legs but twist to the left again! Does it feel different? Was one side easier than the other? Try both versions twisting to your right and notice whether there are any differences or perhaps it’s the same! कोरोना वायरस से पूरी दुनियां में त्राहिमाम मची है। ऐसे भय वाले माहौल में सबसे ज्यादा जरूरी है तनाव के स्तर को कम किया जाए। घर में रहकर तनाव को कम करने का सबसे बेस्ट तरीका है योग। योग के कुछ आसन ऐसे हैं जिनका अभ्यास करने से तनाव का स्तर कम हो सकता है। ऐसे करे योगासन –
गरुड़ासन करने से लाभ:-
दिमाग को एक जगह क्रेंदित करने और तनाव को कम करने का सबसे आसान तरीका है गरुड़ासन का अभ्यास करना। अन्य शब्दों में गरुड़ासन को ईगल पोजकहा जाता है। जो लोग वर्क फ्रॉम होम कर रहे हैं उन लोगों के लिए यह योग आसन बेहद फायदेमंद साबित हो सकता है। इसका अभ्यास करने से कूल्हों और कंधों में जकड़न खत्म हो सकती है। नियमित तौर पर इसका अभ्यास करने से दिमाग को शांति मिलती है।
बद्ध कोणासन करने से लाभ:-
जब किसी इंसान को बहुत ज्यादा परेशानियों का सामना करना पड़ रहा हो और सामने कोई विकल्प नजर न आए। इस स्थिति में बद्ध कोणासन का अभ्यास करने की सलाह दी जाती है। बद्ध कोणासन को बजटफ्लाई पोज या कोब्लर पोज भी कहा जाता है। इस आसन को करने से कमर, घुटनों की नसें खुलती हैं और मस्तिष्क को ध्यान केंद्रित करने की ऊर्जा प्राप्त होती है। योग के इस आसन में आप धीरे-धीरे सांस को अंदर लेते रहें और छोड़ते रहने से मन शांत होता है।
सुप्त कोनसाना करने से लाभ:-
वर्क फ्रॉम करने के कारण ज्यादातर लोग एक ही जगह पर घंटों बैठे रह रहे हैं। लगातार एक ही जगह पर बैठने से शारीरिक और मानसिक तनाव हो जाते हैं। ऐसे में सुप्त कोनसाना आपकी काफी मदद करेगा। सुप्त कोनसाना का अभ्यास करने से पैर का दर्द और जांघो को आराम मिलता है। साथ ही यह थकान को दूर करने में भी सहायक माना जाता है।

The other morning as I was walking towards the beach club for my outdoors yoga class I happened to look up...annnnnnd check out these palms! So tall and gorgeous! Notice how they’re leaning, bending and twisting in different ways. They yield to how the wind blows, the sun shines. In our yoga practice we must learn yield, to surrender and allow the pose to unfold in our own unique bodies and not force it. When your arms are as long as your legs!😆 Triangle Pose or Trikonāsana is an excellent pose for stretching the deep inner thighs, hamstrings, calves, shoulders, hips & chest. Much like Side Angle, it’s expansive! When I teach this pose, I like to encourage students to stop being small & to be expansive! To take up all the space; to feel the stretch beyond where the fingertips, crown, feet & sitting bones end! Feeling fierce in Utthita Parsvakonasana or Side Angle Pose! When this pose pops up in class, some students see it as an opportunity to rest & prop up on the thigh! The shoulder collapses, ribs flare. I usually say, “Oh no this is not the time to hang out as though you’re liming & chatting with friends. No this is the time to be strong, hold yourself up, engage your core & legs muscles! Shoulder locked in place, neck long, ribs in! It’s Monday! Did you have a good weekend? Mine was pretty low key as usual. Now it’s time to kick off another awesome week! I started off my morning with an intense training session & and then to teach a yoga class outdoors. Well it’s usually outside on a lawn facing the ocean, under palm & mahogany trees but since it’s been raining it was inside today. I do like having classes outdoors & being able to hear the ocean - it’s the best soundtrack you could ever ask for. There are times though when it can be incredibly hot even when there is shade & the bugs can be unbearable!!! My ideal teaching space would be an elevated wooden deck (covered of course) overlooking the sea, diffusers with a delicious blend of essential oils to keep the bugs at bay, bamboo wind chimes, & a continuous sea breeze passing through.
