Hi!!! So, this is going to be a weird (and probably invasive) question to ask a stranger on the internet but. um.
So I saw your add-on to the post about historical remedies and such and it FASCINATED me. The cross between historical and scientific study was just... so cool!
And I'm in High school, right now, and I'm still trying to decide what I want to major in. So I wanted to ask--
What major did you write that thesis for? How did you get into that major (like, what kind of credits/ background/grades did you need to get accepted)?
And-- this one you don't have to answer at all, bc I don't want to pressure you into doxxing yourself or anything, but-- What college/colleges did you go to/ consider going to that had good programs for said major? (I live in America, if that helps?)
Sorry for the random (and a lil' aggressive) questioning on major details of your life is uncalled for-- which it probably is. I just!!! Your research was really cool and it felt like something I'd want to consider pursuing!!!
TY for your time <3
No worries! None of those questions are what I would consider really invasive, and I don't mind talking about the basics.
That thesis was one that I wrote for my Master's degree. My major in undergrad was history—no specific area of history because it wasn't an option at my school—just history. While there were some classes I was required to take, whenever I was able to choose my own classes, I took classes that dealt with medieval history, which was something that interested me. Most of my large writing projects in undergrad I wrote on medieval topics. My uni didn't even have that many of those classes, but I basically found ways to work those subjects into my work anyway lol. In topics as broad as history, you have to carve out your own space.
I graduated with good grades and went straight into graduate school. I'm not sure I would recommend going straight into grad school after undergrad, but I knew myself and knew that if I didn't do it right away, I would not go back.
At the graduate level, no matter where you go, if you study history you will pick an area/region of history to study in depth. I chose medieval history, and within that carved out an unofficial specialization on early medieval British history. My advisor wasn't even an expert in that topic, but she was supportive, and connected me with other academics who knew more about it. I was a bit of an oddity in the department because I was one of the few students who was getting only a masters degree, rather than going for a PhD. The only reason I did this was because I was also studying for another degree which was more relevant for my desired career path; I chose to study history as in addition for the broadened experience and also because it really interested me.
Now, I know you're in high school still and this kind of decision is a long ways off, but for the sake of my on conscience I am going to pause here to say that you should not get a masters in history unless you are either going on for a PhD and are committed to a career in academia, or if you have another solid career path open to you (like having another degree or other experience). Studying history can give you a lot of great skills and experience and insight that will make you compatible for a lot of jobs, however, if you already have a bachelors, a masters degree in something like history will generally not increase your marketability, and can be very expensive. Alright, you didn't ask for career advice, but I couldn't not say it.
But yeah! As far as prerequisites and such, it's a fairly straightforward matter of keeping up your grades, which may sound kinda lame. The harder and more vital part of pursuing the research you want is to define your goals, communicate those with your professors, and foster relationships with professors who can help connect you with opportunities to present your research and meet others in the field. If you have the chance to present at an undergrad conference, do it. If your professor has office hours, talk to them not only about the current assignments, but about the kinds of things you're interested in. By the time you're a senior in college, having positive relationships with one or more professors will help you find connections beyond college.
This has turned into career advice, I'm sorry if that's not what you were after! I hope that helps.

Not to victim blame, but if u got traumatized on the internet as a kid, it's kinda ur fault. Hear me out here ok hear me out.
I've had unrestricted internet access my whole life, my parents never had any type of lock or control on my phone or whatever. Keep in mind that I've had this access since the third (ish) grade. The rule was if they ever caught me looking at something I shouldn't, I'd lose it forever. And I believed them lol.
The worst thing I ever saw as a kid was stacyplays and graser10 playing the drill, which is a minecraft horror map, if you're wondering. (I just looked it up to rewatch it just now and I can't find it so. You'll just have to believe me. I can't actually find anything at all about it, so maybe this all is a very elaborate hallucination on my part.) Anyway, the drill is a space station type, Alien sort of deal. There's a creature in there w you and it makes all sorts of spooky noises and I remember there's a really big jumpscare in the middle that terrified me as a kid.
I watched cinemasins and the kill count later on which can be a little worse but honestly the drill is the only thing that I can explicitly remember.
And don't say "well obviously you were ona different side of the internet than I was" aright Dr Main Character, calm down. We're all kids here, somewhere someway you trained the algorithm. Remember that the algorithm is based on you.
Of course I watched film theory too, which, duh, leads back to things like ddlc and fnaf. Here's where I start to get maybe a little controversial, because I watched Mark play a lot of the FNAF games as a kid, a whole bunch of em. I don't really love horror. I remember at the fair once there was a big decal on the side of one of the rides of a man getting eaten alive by zombies with a slit throat and that sorta put me off. So whenever FNAF got a lil too edgy for me, I clicked off the video.
Same thing with DDLC, and Silent Scream and Her Last Words and all that other bullshit that was on youtube in 2015 or whatever. There are warnings and I listened to them, I feel like that's to be expected.
Well apparently not lmao. Maybe I'm doxxing myself a lil here, but I'm in one of my classes we had this presentation project where we'd all pick a topic we know a lot about and make a lil PowerPoint on it and then present it to the class. Super cute and fun, I had a lot of fun with mine and I think the class had a lot of fun listening to me too. One kid did his presentation on the lore of FNAF, which of course brought up this whole discussion. The general consensus in class that day was that the kids are not at fault for seeing the whole Springtrap Ordeal, and that it was fucked up and yadda yadda, so traumatic. I didn't say any of this then because I'm honestly a little afraid a kid in this class who I'd be debating up against, but I'm gonna say it now.
Watching Something Else is the easiest thing to do on the internet. And I'm not saying that it was right for your parents to allow you on the internet so soon. I am saying that if you're reading this right now, you have the ability to Watch Something Else. Kids are dumb, that's not your fault that you were a dumb kid, I was dumb too. But I am gonna go ahead and say that if the whole Springtrap Ordeal scarred you as a kid, that's ur own fault.
Imagine me dropping a mic here, if u wanna

grass + rain + water for ur ask game <3
GRASS !
what's the biggest change you've made in your WIP since you started it?
ok so the biggest change i've made in my WIP since i started it has got to be this gojo! reader fic i'm writing right now lol
i initially intended it to write it with reader and dazai already being in an established relationship but i wanted to add a little slow burn in the beginning, so i made reader and dazai not being in a relationship yet
i also wanted to expand on reader's feelings / thoughts on dazai being the only one who could make them vulnerable or touchable because of how no longer human nullifies abilities, as well as the fact dazai just looooves physical touch very much
shoutout to the user who gave me three ideas to work, but just a lil' heads up slash spoilers, i chose to combine public transpo and slow dancing instead of just choosing just one. thank you for requesting <3
RAIN !
have you ever made yourself cry with your own writing? if so, what was it?
yes i've made myself cry with my own writings before !! there's quite a bunch, but i'll special mention some that really hit me hard like i got ran over by a truck or sumn
scarlet witch! baby fushiguro! reader learning dazai's past
scarlet witch! baby fushiguro! reader putting an end to itadori yuuji who had already eaten all of sukuna's fingers
when adoptive dad! gojo satoru doesn't want scarlet witch! baby fushiguro! reader anymore
WATER !
how did you start writing?
tbh, i first started writing when i got introduced to the world of wattpad
my best friend was really into it back when we were still in elementary and she got me into those "adopted by" esque fics, and that's how i started 💀 i ATE those up
and from writing "adopted by" esque fics, i eventually started writing for creepypasta, undertale—YES I HAD "THAT" PHASE 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️
i also wrote for the dream smp, which was enjoyable and fun, but despite the sky-high reads and votes i was getting for my numerous published fics—it was just absolutely toxic :( everyday was just drama, like someone getting cancelled or someone was doxxing this certain content creator. and the comments i was receiving was being too much for me too, so i quitted wattpad and moved into a new platform.
i first wrote for hunter x hunter and one punch man when i joined tumblr, but because of the hiatus for hunter x hunter and me dropping one punch man, i went into a 2-3 hiatus before coming back here to write for jujutsu kaisen, and eventually tokyo revengers and bungou stray dogs !
i had long journey when it came to writing—i can't even exaggerate the ups and downs i have experienced. the fandoms i've started and dropped, the criticisms i received (both harsh and good), as well as my grammar.
but yeah, that's how i started writing and i'm glad how far i've come
plus, i'm really happy right here and now in this blog because not only am i enjoying writing, but i also got lots of supportive and kind people here in my blog with me, may it be my moots or non-moots <3 !

Your writing is soooo good. have you written other stuff?
Thank you Anon, that's so lovely xx Get ready for some emotional over-sharing.
I've got major Pedro brainrot so I'm working on a couple of fics for him, mostly Joel but maybe a bit of Dieter because I love our lil trash panda.
In the real world, my debut fiction novel came out a few years ago, and I have been slowly slowly working on another. I can't say the title or I'll dox myself.
The experience was a bit intense and weirdly it sapped my enthusiasm to write for a while. The process was really exciting and I loved (weirdly) the structural edit stage (not so much the line edit, my brain doesn't do details like that), but when it came out my publisher kind of...I don't know, I didn't feel all that supported? Debut literary fiction by Australian women doesn't exactly sell buckets, but I felt weirdly abandoned and I just kind of...stopped writing. For a really long time.
So yeah, that's why when I say I'm grateful for the comments and reblogs and hearts, and for the general community vibe here, I really mean it. I'm finding it creatively healing in a way I didn't expect.
My literary agent doesn't know about the fics. She never will lol.
