Sam’s Mashed Potatoes - Red bliss potatoes, sweet cream, butter and salt – as lovely as it sounds

Overall: B+

Caesar Salad

A surprisingly excellent caesar - a larger than normal amount of thicker than normal parmsan, a rich and very well balanced dressing, crisp romaine, buttery croutons, fresh ground pepper. Though there were a fair number of romaine veins, the rest of the salad was rich enough to balance out the watery veins - a critical measure of any romaine-based salad for me. 

Half Slab Ribs

Honestly, and also surprisingly, the ribs were the weakest part of the meal. They wee not quite fully tender, and not too juicy. On top of this, the sauce was overly sweet and unbalanced. Overall, a lack of savory flavors - smoke, pork, spices. I expected better from a restaurant registered at ribs.com

Cole Slaw

Little heavy on the dressing, but it was thin that the excess drained off of each bite. Overall, tasty, refreshing, and a evoking a clean cabbage feel

Au Gratin Potatoes

The star of the show along with the salad. The dish used tender chunks, rather than thin slices that I’d typically see in au gratin, of potato. They were immersed in a strikingly orange, medium-thick maracaroni-esque cheese sauce. This mixture was then topped with cheese and baked to create a crust. This was an excellent execution of a fairly simple concept that I’m surprised I haven’t seen before.
