I’m one of those women who’s in a love-hate relationship with my shaver. I honestly don’t find shaving the best option when it comes to getting myself hair-free because I’m aware of how much irritation it can cause. I use hair removal creams, do waxing or laser instead, but these require more time than shaving. Last week, Dove Philippines invited me to a press event held at The Greens, Greenbelt 5, to learn more about how to properly take care of our underarms. I know that shaving can irritate your skin, BUT, I’m pretty shocked when I learned the real deal behind shaving. Did you know that when you shave, 1/3 of what you remove is actually skin, which leads to underarm darkening? Along with your hair, shaving takes away the top-most layer of your skin, leaving it irritated. With continued shaving, skin is unable to heal itself and becomes bumpy, dry and dark. OMG.

The event was hosted by Dove Girls Patty Laurel-Filart and Saab Magalona-Bacarro. Along with them, we also had Kelly Misa, Dani Barretto and Sabs Hernandez to share their very own struggles when it comes to shaving.
