We started our day with a cruise on the Douro River. The city comes right down to the water almost everywhere. That round building in the picture above is a church within a monastery that has a unique story to it. It's round, so there are no corners for the devil to hide in.

Today we embarked on an exploration of port wine country along the Douro River. When we arrived in Pinhão, we got to see the Douro Valley from a different perspective: by boat. During our short cruise, we enjoyed views of the rolling hills, terraced vineyards, and Portuguese countryside as they passed by us. With a local expert as our guide, we strolled through the vineyards and the cellars to learn about the production of this unique spirit. After exploring the quinta, we also learned how to make the port wine cocktails that are so popular in this area. Lunch was amazing with views from the restaurant that are quite inspiring: vineyard-covered terraces as far as the eye can see.
