The Decameron [8/10]
Tumblr media
I have recently watched The Decameron, a Netflix adaptation. I didn't expect too much from Netflix but this mini-series really surprised me. I cried, I laughed, I hate and I love the characters. I must confess I only read the book in high school once so I don't remember too much from it but if it is different I don't care. The story of the show, the comedy, the evolution of the characters, it is never boring. I absolutely love all of them even the villains and the bad people like Pampinea, ABSOLUTELY love Zosia. The cast is so well chosen. I didn't know some of them but after this I will keep their names with treasure.
This show is perfect when you search for romance, comedy, period shows, lgtbi friendly, women empowerment, etc. It does not disappoint.
Why don't I give it a 10 out of 10 if I love it so much? I have a problem and it is they killed Neifile too soon and after that moment Panfilo lost all of his intelligence, he kissed Licisca (I don't know why) after he rejected his wife all this time. I really thought he was gay. He even mentioned a thing between him and Licisca would not work but then again WHY IF YOU MAKE OBVIOUS YOU ARE GAY?? WHY KISSING HER? That part of the ending, especially all around Panfilo really distracted me.
Apart from that I recommend it as one of the best shows I have watched this year.

My favorite of the Chernobyl boys:
Jared Harris (Lagasov), Stellan Skarsgard (Sherbina), Robert Emms (Toptunov), Sam Troughton (Akimov), Adrian Rawlins (Fomin), Douggie McMeekin (Yuvchenko), Jamie Sives (Sitnikov), Billy Postlethwaite (Stolyarchuk), Barry Keoghan (Pavel), and Fares Fares (Bacho).
(Found this great pic of young Stellan from a Swedish movie)
