his shirt is open, the dark hair of his chest severed by the garish mar of an old war wound - his muscles, thick, his skin - wet with sweat. with a cigar pursed between his lips, he fails to initially spare them a word. instead - his eyes speak for him. a look that demands his companion on their knees. the hazel hues of his eyes pressed between squinting slits, his brows furrowed - command urged through every twitch of his expression.

the cigar is soon freed from the grasp of his kiss; smoke quickly filling the room with a flare of his nostrils. after a moment's breath, he spares a hand for the collar beside him - coils it around fingers, dons a smirk as he urges the other to crawl toward him.

"for being so good-" he dares to press the cigar to his lips once more, suctions lips around its edge - savours the bittersweet tang of poison - speaks once more, though this time not without the hot breath of a dragon. "i grace you with this-"

he leans forth; the studded choker teased before them.

"now - you will truly be mine."

"Hit That Perfect Beat" is a song by British synthpop trio Bronski Beat from their second album Truthdare Doubledare (1986). In January 1986 it reached number three on the UK Singles Chart and entered the top 10 in several European countries, Australia and South Africa.

The song's video featured frontman and vocalist John Foster wanting to join the group after reading an advertisement in a newspaper and seeking an audition to join the group. The video also features the other two band members playing with Foster at a Liverpool club called The State, as well as scenes from the Stanley Dock area and overlays from the 1985 film Letter to Brezhnev.

Retrospective Synthpop : Truthdare Doubledare de ce qui reste de Bronki Beat

Un être vous manque et tout est dépeuplé. Pour ce second album, Steven Bronski et Larry Steinbachek se retrouvent sans Somerville, parti former le groupe Communards. Une voix qui était un peu l'âme du projet. Ce dernier est remplacé par John Foster, qui ne fait certes pas un mauvais travail mais n'a évidemment pas la magie et la même prestance que Jimmy. Ayant conscience de la simplicité de sa prestation, Bronski Beat essayent de compenser en remplissant le mixage. Synthés à foison, forcément, mais aussi cuivres, grattes, chœurs, tout y est, même de la flûte sur « Do It ».

Cela ne suffira pas. Truthdare Doubledare n'est pas un mauvais album, mais il en fait trop et ne sait pas sur quel pied danser. Seul le titre éponyme reprend les rythmiques jazz (pastiche de cabaret ici) présentes sur le premier album, ce qui n'est pas stupide, vu son oubliabilité. On retrouve aussi un peu d'Hi-NRG sur le single « Hit That Perfect Beat » (dont Sabrina reprendra les gimmicks sur « Hot Girl », entre autres) ; ils sont là dans leur élément, ils savent y faire. Avec « Punishment for Love » on a là les deux meilleures pièces. On ne peut pas en écrire autant pour « C'mon C'mon », deuxième single choisi, d'un tropicalisme kitsch qu'ils ont essayé de distiller ici et là sur l'album (les percus et le gospel de « This Heart ») et on sent au vu de la pochette que c'est une direction qu'ils auraient voulu prendre, mais qu'ils n'ont pas assumé jusqu'au bout. Enfin, les ballades « We Know How it Feels » et « In My Dreams » ne sont pas désagréables, rappellent presque les compositions les plus moyennes d'ABC. On peut penser aussi à « The Seeds of Love », l’œuvre de Tears for Fears qui, en ayant voulu trop en faire, les a perdus.

Par ce besoin de compenser, le trio offre assez à boire et à manger pour sauver, non pas les meubles mais au moins le vaisselier. Et ainsi, produire quelques instants musicaux, quelques jams, quelques mélodies du plus bel effet, perdus dans un album perdu d'avance, aussi généreux que défectueux.

oh funnily enough my funniest memory is from a caps game!! me and my dad went to see them play and my dad borrowed an ovechkin jersey from a family friend while i was rocking the petterson <3 anyways we ended up seated next to a caps fan and when they scored the dude went to celly and was confused at my dad just looking defeated . the caps ended up winning and like . capitals fans came up to him after the game w congrats and shit and he was absolutely regretting it bc there was no reason for him to be happy about the canucks losing
