I love how the big Life series "curses"/cliches surrounding BigB and Tango are just, completely nullified by Skizz. Oh BigB is forced to betray his closest ally and that ally will hate/break up the alliance with him due to it? Skizz just goes "Oh it was your task? And you completed it? Worth it then, let's get back to roping people into gambling!!!" Tango keeps having his allies dip on him/ignore him/never prioritize him when he really needs them? Skizz is just like "Okay fine I'll do your task for you together with Big Bopper and then we'll do shots at the top of Joel's cringefail MLG bucket build height tower!!!!!"

I think, perhaps, Skizzleman is the antidote to any curse/cliche that relies on a lack of loyalty. You just can't get him to compromise his loyalty no matter what you try. Can't tempt this angel to fall, even.

Now we just gotta wait and see if Tango and BigB will counteract Skizz's curse/cliche of never reaching session 8 and his rule of three stuff...

In your AU Bdubs is a creeper right?

Do Creepers respawn after they explode in your AU or not?

Dose Bdubs sometimes blow up at random as a prank on his friends or is it just a thing he knows he can do but probably never will except as a last resort to protect his friends if there’s no other option?

Also Big B is a creaking, dose he live in the same forest as Grian or is he from another forest entirely, either way seeing Grian and Mumbo must have been a shock for him.

Imagine you’re an immortal bound to your life source making it so you can never leave your home, then one day you see someone just like you walking about freely because their heart somehow ended up in the chest of the most powerful monsters in the world.

creeper bdubs is peculiar in the sense that he’s a creeper that actively tries not to explode. creeper hybrids don’t die after a single explosion but they get explosion damage, so exploding consecutively would definitely kills. creeper bdubs, shocked at that knowledge, now tries his best to not explode at all. explosion to creeper can be involuntary like a natural body response, it’s a self defense mechanism. creeper bdubs in a lot of trouble trying not to get surprised/shocked lol meanwhile the rest of the hybrids find it hilarious

grian, bigb, gem, are all from the same pale garden. they’re like a family, well siblings. grian and gem v much act so, and creaking bigb is like the big brother. he’s shocked at the sight of grian walking outside the garden, let alone behind a warden. now he’s dealing with gem also wanting to go outside, nagging warden pearl to take her away as well. warden pearl has been sort of a protector to the creaking gem and bigb ever since she came. unlike mumbo, she’s not hostile at all, and not completely blind like mumbo (though her sight is still impaired, her eyes v sensitive to light due to living underground, she can only see during the night, her eyes can only tolerate moonlight). warden pearl p much comfy staying in the pale garden. creaking bigb also v grateful for pearl bc for creakings, their most vulnerable part is their heart inside the pale oak. arguably for them, their safest place is inside the pale garden. taking it out risk revealing the location, and worse, might be even destroy it in the process. creaking bigb prefers staying put.

seeing grian walking with mumbo definitely shocks gem and bigb, pearl is more like “oh so that’s where he is now”

Bdubs having powers to skip the night??? Like that’s, in my opinion, the most fitting power out of all of them. Slow down time is cus he wants the sun and day to last longer obviously

Scar having super strength when he is the one who usually has abs and whatnot on his skin, and being able to ride people is just the funniest to give to scar cus of all the out of context things

BigB being able to summon creakings??? The man who based in the pale forest and slowly being taken over by the creakings being able to SUMMON CREAKINGS???? Idk that one just is so crazy

Ren being able to change into others could (lore wise) be from that time he was Tango during wild life

Same with Gem, since she was Cleo in Limited life then she isn’t as tethered to the world as others. It also could be cus she was such a recent addition, the watchers don’t have as a good grasp on her

I can’t think of anything right now, but there’s gotta be something lore wise/angsty about how Grian doesn’t have a set power, he is only able to take others for a few minutes. Almost like the watchers don’t want to let him have any full power, just smaller doses of others

I don’t really know what to say about Tangos power, can’t really think of anything

Pearl essentially having an elytra, she’s a goddess trying to return to her higher place up in the clouds

This is getting intense. It's pinching at his hearts. I need a better observation post. Thank Beef for the card shop, though- and its rooftop bar. It's not exactly a night of snuggling and macaroni, but Pearl's whisper over comm gave him a good excuse to duck out. He likes Ren. But Ren's… a lot. It's charming to see him playing with the young fox hybrids. Jimmy's presence helped soak some energy too; it's easier, see, to handle Ren in small doses or with a bigger group. But it's nice to stretch. He needs time with his own thoughts now and then.

BigB lands in a fwump of wings. Not many people are up here tonight. Yeah, card games don't tend to be an instinct programmed into mob behavior. This place will be busier come new moon night. Three people sit at the barstools, talking to someone that BigB barely glanced at. They look heavily modded. No full moon pulls for them. Scar's here too. After what he glimpsed when Scar was on the floor with Scott, he'd be more surprised if he wasn't. Didn't Martyn crash through his roof? Yikes.

"Mind if I join you?" he asks over his shoulder. Scar looks up. He's drinking alone tonight. Again, don't blame him. Heavier than usual for him, isn't it? Raw binary code sparkles in his shot glass. Scar's eyes glint off-green, all dim and hazy. His soul traits haven't sprung up, though his form seems to be a little loose around the shoulders.

"Hello, BigB! No, not at all- pull up a seat if you'd like. What's the word on the streets these days?"

BigB's antennae twitch forward. He climbs on top of a short block stack at the edge of the roof- the corner spot where the fence post railing connects. Yeah, this will work. It's easier to sit on than the posts themselves and he gets a decent view of Headquarters. Scar's just two tables over, within prox chat distance. BigB gets himself situated, flapping out his wings. He cracks open the eyespots to soak in as much area as he can. "Well… Impulse and Tango got some farms approved. They're only authorized to run it for short periods of time and they're on trial to prove they can follow through with the ethics requirements, but we might get renewable iron rolling in pretty soon. Dude, that would be a game-changer."

"Oh, really?" Scar takes another sip of his drink. His vex wings flutter at his shoulders. BigB doesn't need to turn around to see that. "You know, I've always wondered why we have glowing iron golems in this dimension, but not glowing iron. It really makes you think. What a quad- quandary."

"Hmm… I guess because it's a programmed drop, not a literal part of their body."

"True!"

What a day. One of the longest ones he's experienced in a while, seeing as he had check-in work in the morning, a full two weeks of recording, and city inspection work when he went offline. BigB yawns, thrumming his wings. But Pearl asked him to keep an eye on Scott, and Scott's definitely up to something. He snuck out a window. This should be interesting.

"BigB?"

"What?"

"Do you think Grian would like me more if I was a worm?"

He rolls one of his eyespots, trying not to show expression otherwise. "I'm sure Grian likes you fine." If this is some jab at soulmates and Double Life, it's not one he's up for tonight. Though that thought does wiggle beneath his exoskeleton and bite at every heart.

I bet Ren would like me more if I were a giant world-eating worm.

Maybe he would've been into that in a way he wasn't into a soft and fluffy moth who loitered in the corners of his eyes, following instructions instead of bossing him around. And as he thinks that, he pinches his brow and rubs up and down. Ren checked every box when they were soulmates. He flirted and flounced and nuzzled while living at Box…

… but Ren's into things that BigB was never going to be able to give him, like fangs and drool and razor-sharp claws. He embraced the roleplay. Pretended there was something there. They were cuddling shirtless every night. Even carroting sometimes, foreheads pressed and mouths soft as they huffed against each other's necks. Hands sliding, fingers tracing spiracles they could both feel, even though they were only legitimate on BigB's skin. Arms wrapped around each other. Backs arched as they whispered and chased that little lip of lust and trust.

"Oh no," Scar says softly, mostly to his drink. "He might not recognize me if I'm a worm. Do you think Cub still would?" Cub loves me, Scar adds in his mind. BigB can hear that, like he can hear everything, because of the way Scar's throat constricts on individual words. It's subtle, but he can. Because BigB always listens, and he picks up everything.

He flicks an antenna, but otherwise ignores this, lost in his own thoughts and the cold hand resting on his face. It's almost not fair, you know… how everyone in Double Life got paired with someone they could learn to love. Maybe had loved in the past. And he and Ren had golden history, twirling around each other like a moth chasing flames in 3rd Life and Last Life too.

But loving Ren is a loser's game from the start, if you aren't someone like Martyn who was born with spiny wings and lashing tail and fangs and drool and claws. Ren's a performer and very good when guiding partners through a rush of carrots, but he was never going to fall in love with BigB the way BigB tried to fall in love with him.

It's not like he didn't try. He cuddled too. He responded with what felt like enthusiasm every time Ren pulled him in, licking his cheeks and running hands down his sides. Pulling him down on the bed and into his arms. Day after day, week after week, he mirrored the motions and fell in love. Even when he knew it wasn't real. When he lay his head on Ren's rising, falling chest and gazed up at his sleepy, bristle-covered face.

Ren's such a rugged and handsome man, honestly. He loves working in the dirt. Maybe it's a dog thing. Maybe he just likes plants and tiny creatures in the soil. He's got the muscles of someone who rolls huge boulders aside just to take a peek at ants and worms. Maybe a fungus.

And he's beautiful, and he loves so much, and it's all too much sometimes (because it isn't real). So with wings whispering at his back… BigB rested his cheek and curled his fingers, biting bare skin, and asked him for the truth.

"If I mod in some ears and fangs and maybe a tail, would that do something for you?"

I don't remember if you mentioned this in an ask already but, moon elves in a blood moon,

We know that too much moonlight is bad psychologically but, what do different types of moons do? Like blood moons blue moons eclipses and the likes?

In silence, Pearl left into the night. Blood moon started rising on the horizont, the wind turned awfully cold. But Pearl didn’t notice. She didn’t feel. She didn’t even flutter her wings anymore. She could only walk and only one thought kept running inside her head: “It’s all my fault.”

So, Blood Moon did affected her. Badly. After she "caused" the death of Ren and BigB, she felt empty. Worthless. Useless. She coudln't think of anything else. She wasn't even able to talk properly when she came back to Spidey's base and if it wasn't for Spidey and Tilly, she would do a very very bad thing to herself...

Blue moon would probably work the other way than Blood one. It would give hope, it would give you a purpose, a strenght to continue...or, with too much of it, it would make you confident, cocky, reckless...a laughing mess that doesn't seem to fully understand what is happening.

Eclipses...ehhh I didn't really think of those? But I think they shouldn't really affect the Moon Elves if they manage to get their "Moon dose" the next day.

But if you spend too much time without the moon, you might start to get very sensitive to any moonlight and it might be easier for you to get "overdosed".

Ok it’s 34 degrees Celsius here (aka HOT) so this will probably be a little messy but in short

Evo was an SMP featuring Grian, Martyn, and a few others, it wasn’t too lore heavy but the watchers were a part of it, they were mostly just server admins with a fancy name, but they also were responsible for updating the game (Evo’s whole gimmick was the server starting in early minecraft versions and getting updated every few months.)

Due to personal reasons, Grian had to leave the server, but he couldn’t just leave-leave. When evo got to the update that introduced the end, they decided to make a spectacle of Grian’s departure, if I remember correctly (which I probably don’t) the end portal wouldn’t open until Grian joined the watchers, giving him server control and this the ability to open the portal.

That’s probably not the exact reason but the point is, Grian became a watcher, even though he was busy and wasn’t uploading videos anymore, he still stayed a server admin, he still watched.

Cut to the life series, Martyn, theatrical as always, decides to inject the series with a helping dose of lore, using Evo’s watchers as a template. A large majority of the watcher lore can be understood through just watching Martyn’s last life and limited life perspective, whenever you hear the deep voice talking in rhymes, congrats! That’s the watchers. In the life series they’re not a metaphor for the server admins, instead a metaphor for us, the viewers.

Now it is a bit hard to distinguish fanon from canon as practically everyone in the fandom has their own theories, headcanons and ideas, it can get a little muddy separating what Martyn confirmed in an episode, what Martyn confirmed in a livestream and what the fans just made up. Here’s what I’m fairly certain is true.

Watchers feed off negative emotions, it’s why lifers remember past seasons but hold no animosity towards one another. All the rage and hatred has been eaten.

Gaps in-between seasons feature the lifers asleep, dreaming of empires and hermitcraft and whatever else, if they do not have this down time they will break for good, dead forever, watchers can no longer feed off them, it is also an in-universe explanation for why Ren swapped with tango in that one episode of secret life, as well as the Pearl/Lizzie and Cleo/Gem swap in limited life, those guys were breaking and needed some time off.

Grian is still a watcher, this was explicitly stated in Martyn’s last life finale. Unclear why he joined but it’s clear the watchers resent him for it. Most common fan theory is that grian brings joy to the death game, one clear example being the 3L final fight between scar and Grian, despite the undeniably tragic circumstances of the fight, they both laugh about it.

The watchers hate Scott because “his will to live [is] too strong.”

Listeners are people with the ability to hear the watchers without them having to actually join the game like grian did, Martyn is a listener and I think all of the Evo guys are too (BigB, Pearl, Jimmy, Grian) but they’ve only ever interacted with martyn.

8: common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

this one is actually kinda tricky cause theres a lot but like also not a lot(???) IDK... OH maybe this is unfair but i dont like life!grian as a bloodthirsty freak. like he IS don't get me wrong but it very much reads to me as a survival thing and part of his tendency to make things into games and i haaate that people act like he relishes in bloodshed or enjoys it... all based on like that one triple kill in 3rd life. he has things wrong with him for sure but any enjoyment he gets from violence feels like a front to me that will immediately collapse (eg the bigb kill in dl)

oh this one is easy it(martyn inthelittlewood approaching behind me with a comically large bat)ummm. okay actually im legally obligated to say hermitcraft season 8 finale here even though i've warmed up to it and done my piece i just think the octagon and the arg sucked it appealed only to a very niche section of reddit fans it pulled the lore for the entire thing down to two povs and even then it didn't do anything cool or unique because you could tell it was a simulation from very early on and they didn't build upon that at all it just Was. if you like it then that's fair but it literally made me stop caring about hermitcraft for. i think ever technically because even now i barely watch it. oh well

watchersss WATCHERRRSSS EVERYTHINGS THE FUCKING WATCHERS AND LISTENERS and this can apply to literally any series because they infect everything like a PLAGUE I DONT CAAARE and this is coming from someone who thinks some watcher stuff has merit i've seen cool headcanons (blows a kiss to my muts) but 99% of the time it's so boring. and then everything you guys do infects canon too because (martyn littlewood approaching again) .just please get better ideas okay i love you guys. they're fun in little doses but when it's constant and you also forget the entire point of what they are its like. go do some meta thinking and come back instead of just making them scary villains PLEASE

So! Let's go from top to bottom, shall we? The stitches on her face are a pre-existing element from being a zombie, but as a Red Name she haphazardly extended them to cross over her mouth. It turns out that the red life bloodlust stacked with her innate zombie instincts, which she can usually control, but the extra dose of aggression along with the rage of betrayal makes it next to impossible to hold back now. Without an external mechanism, she's afraid she would slip and bite someone, doing a damage she cannot undo. This is also part of why she uses fire so much - it's the only thing powerful enough to express her rage, while not requiring her to be in close range drawing blood and potentially losing control.

The axe is the same axe that BigB killed her with. She doesn't have this in canon, but I think she deserves to! Very Symbolic Axe is an excellent trope no matter what season we're in. :) (Also, the red enchantment trail is vaguely implying some kind of extra magic she stacked over the usual enchantments, very possibly blood magic fueled by the life force lost when she went to yellow and then red so quickly)

The areas of exposed bone and muscle are just injuries and decay that she had from being a zombie (although the broken wrist is new from the explosion of Joel's trap). The fresher injuries are new, from trying to run away and/or block BigB's hits in her panic. Bdubs loosely implied that red lives have a reduced healing factor for injuries that helped to kill them and I am Running with it

The rest of the art decisions are purely stylistic, but there are a couple things about the stat block! Her stats are different than they would have been if I had made a non-red Cleo character sheet. Her Strength is that high because as a zombie she doesn't have the normal barriers in the brain that stop the body from unlocking its full strength, and as a red life with a vendetta she no longer cares what damage she takes by allowing those safeguards to be bypassed. In exchange, though, her Cunning is lower, which in this case basically means she no longer looks quite as much before she leaps. She is driven by one thing and one thing alone, and it'll take an awful lot of risk to hold her back.
