i hate it when im reading fics and they're portraying martin as super incompetent esp in the early seasons. jon is an unreliable narrator!! just because he says in the first season that martin is useless that doesn't mean he actually is!!!! he's shown multiple times that he's actually good at his job and the things jon is mad at him for are requests that were unreasonable for him to make in the first place. he doesn't spill tea on important documents or break things on accident, which is something i see way too often in fics. he's been doing this job for a long time!! he knows what he's doing!!! just because he didn't have the necessary qualifications prior to taking the job doesn't mean that he couldn't have learned in the long ass time he was employed!!!!

i know we all love mechanical engineering student sokka but please consider: linguistics student sokka

it just fits so well. linguistics as a science stands at the border between humanities and stem, and sokka has repeatedly shown that while he wants things to have clear answers, he also appreciates playing with language (in the form of poetry) and art.

if we're thinking of a specialisation for him, i'd go for computational linguistics, which combines his love of language and playing with it and his desire for things to have a clear answer

isn't it kinda fucked up how things like adhd, autism and dyslexia are referred to as "learning disabilities"? like. all of these impair so much more than learning but somehow we've decided that 1. they're children's disabilities 2. the fact that they might make kids not do as well in school is the most important thing about them

i beg people to do a minimal amount of research when writing fics set in countries they are unfamiliar with, because to someone living there it is so incredibly immersion breaking to read something that is in no way a part of their daily life. if i have to read about one more house in the uk having a "garbage disposal" i will go insane

i just finished wwdits and oh my god im so glad s5 didn't end on a cliffhanger because it would have killed me
