We have got to unlearn the aggressive monitoring of children. Like kids deserve privacy and to not have parents aggressively guarding every little thing they do. My coworker talks about having cameras everywhere and setting up software to always know what her kid is doing at all times on the internet.
Neither her nor her husband are bad human beings or even bad parents, but we don't need to be doing that. Keeping tabs on your kids should not mean actively watching and assessing everything they're doing at all times. They should be allowed to and need to be able to have conversations with their friends that their parents knowing fuckall about.
Kids deserve basic privacy. I grew up in a house where I wasn't allowed to close my bedroom door at all unless I was actively changing clothes. I would have my parents open my mail and read my messages to friends. All it did was make me better at hiding what I was doing or just not being home as much as possible. By my senior year I spent a frankly wild amount of time finding activities to participate in that kept me from being in my own house.
It's great we can keep tabs on our kids with much easier communication methods like cell phones. But also when did we decide raising them to constantly live in the same surveillance state environment they go to high school in where everyone is watching everything they do at all times was fine.
15 years ago it was still a debate on if video cameras in high schools would be an invasion of privacy. Now people have them in their houses. Everyone's front porch has a security camera. Where are people supposed to exist?
Obviously I can't predict anything about the future but if your kid is being raised with that agressive lack of privacy. If you're reading their diaries and text messages and watching them through the cameras when you're not home. That kid is not gonna want to spend time with you. I don't even want to be in your house when anything I say or do there is being recorded. I can't imagine wanting to live there.

Understanding Wireless Communication in Doorbell Cameras
Ever wondered how your doorbell camera sends live video to your phone, even when you're miles away? It's all thanks to wireless communication, a technology that's transforming home security. Wireless communication has become essential for modern doorbell cameras, enhancing how we monitor and protect our homes.
Tumblr media
Wireless communication allows your doorbell camera to connect to your home network without cumbersome wiring. This not only makes installation easier but also provides more flexibility in placement and usage. With advancements in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other wireless technologies, homeowners can enjoy real-time video feeds, instant notifications, and integration with other smart home devices.

Do you know of any good security/doorbell cameras that work well and pick up sounds? Especially ones that can pick up sounds.
I’m asking you even if you don’t know because you have a wider reach and maybe one of your followers knows.
I know that market has opened up greatly as the price of the technology has dropped. I don't think that ring is worth it because I know you have to pay for a subscription with it. I know there are lots of ones that you can manage/monitor from your phone.
I haven't used any of them so I couldn't tell you which one's work or are worth the price.
IF ANYONE KNOWS ABOUT SECURITY CAMERAS. Please comment.

Your doorbell camera detected a werewolf! Are you opening the door? It's Raha though, so keeping her outside is probably the best choice

Meteorite Strike Captured by Doorbell Camera in Canada
A doorbell camera on a Canadian home captured rare video and sound of a meteorite striking Earth as it crashed into a couple’s walkway.
When Laura Kelly and her partner returned home after an evening walk in July, they were surprised to find their walkway littered with dust and strange debris, according to the Meteoritical Society.
They checked their security camera and saw something slamming against their entrance way, producing a cloud of smoke and a crackle.
The pair reported what they found to the University of Alberta's Meteorite Reporting System and the curator Chris Herd, who examined samples of the debris to confirm its interstellar origins.
Meteorites are bits of space rock that hit Earth after surviving a trip through its scorching atmosphere.
About 43,500 kilograms of similar debris strikes Earth every day, according to NASA, but is much more likely to plunge into an ocean than onto someone's front stoop.
While cameras have captured meteors streaking through the sky, it's rare to capture the sound of a complete meteorite strike on video and this footage is believed to be a first.
The space rock, officially registered Monday, was named Charlottetown after the city on Prince Edward Island in eastern Canada where it struck.

hey all y'all so worried about the "consent" of seeing a person wearing a dog collar in public, why don't you focus on an actual consent issue which is people uploading photos and videos of others to the internet without their permission

Someone should take the camera doorbell away from my parents (particularly my mother)
My parents are away on holiday atm, and I just left the house and got in my car, I hadn’t even left the driveway and she calls me to ask me where I’m going and what I’m doing.
Woman I am 24! (Also I was going out to get her a birthday present but I couldn’t quite say that)

This is why it's so important to talk to your pet snakes! She got startled by the sound of the lid of her baby bin closing, but the moment I start talking to her, she immediately relaxes- her posture changes, she starts tongue flicking, and starts moving around again. Even if you don't think your snake can understand what you're saying, they will learn to recognize your voice, the tone of your voice, and trust you if you tell them they are okay. I've only had Sakura for a week and she already has this reaction to my voice.
With Scoria, when she was in blue and couldn't see me she was very scared because she couldn't see what was touching her- but by that point I regularly talked to her so much she knew my voice. She was basically blind, but once she heard my voice she relaxed because she knows I am her protector and I keep her safe.
Sakura doesn't know me well enough yet, and she's still getting use to the sights and sounds of our home. With how flighty she is, I'm hoping I can use this experience to help others who have more timid/skittish snakes with my experience.
Her sister Scoria is very eager to play with her, she saw her in her baby bin, and will always look to Sakura's bin when she is out. We've got to wait until he quarantine period is up, and Sakura has time to settle in, but I'm hoping they will be good friends. I will only let them play together during play time as I've read Hognoses are solitary and cohabitating them outside brumation can lead to one eating the other- which happens with mating sometimes.
But during playtime I never take my eye off my girls, and will ensure they are both happy and relaxed before their first official meeting will happen.

I just had a neighbor call the cops to do a wellness check on me because he apparently hasn’t seen me on his ring camera in weeks. Is that supposed to make me feel safe because it doesn’t

Listen when someone knocks on the door/rings the doorbell my heart instantly drops into my stomach and my heart starts pounding. When I know someone is dropping by and they knock/ring the doorbell I’m fine. But the unexpected doorbell ring followed by the usual heavy pounding knock of the dude trying to sell me solar, freaks me the fuck out every single time.
Also it’s 8pm dude, that’s too late to go door to door. I was just getting relaxed too 😑
