Oh damn, another Tyzula comic! I'm as surprised as you that I managed to keep my word of doing this Monster AU. Not sure if this is going to be as popular as the Vampire+Werewolf mash up, but I like the idea of some sort of Golem Azula (this case in the form of a terracotta) and Gorgon Ty Lee. Ty Lee's snakes love Azula scratches. And Mai's exhilarating adventures continues! Thank you @doodlesanime for the idea of giving the snakes little dresses.

We need more of this! :D
Wild Blue Yonder--- Park Ranger Monster Hunter Au
Words: 3562
Rating: T for some language
I have become very hyperfixated on the Park Ranger and felt inspires to write a little fic on how the beginning of the story would go. So, I had to combine my love of National Parks, monster hunter stories, and atla/tyzula in one piece of media and subject my followers to it. It's my first fic at too! Enjoy!
Every Park Ranger had to sacrifice a few hours of sleep per week and work a late nighter or an early morning. Making sure campers weren’t wandering around lost and scared or teenagers weren’t tempting the wildlife with Taco Bell.
Ty Lee knew it was technically important to do these rounds of the Park before the sun rose, and while it was never the same ol’ boring routine compared with other jobs (you never knew what interactions the public would give you) she really wasn’t made for these early park rides. Her coworker, Suki, asked her to take this shift so she could have a longer morning with her boyfriend. Suki and her joined the Park Service around the same time and worked their first seasons together. They’ve had each other’s backs through the rough and tumble of government jobs. She doesn’t know what she would have done without her. Ty Lee loves what she gets to do. She loved meeting all kinds of new people each and every day from all over the country and world. She loved seeing the deer galloping across the hills. The cheeky salamander that pops up in the visitor center. When the flowers bloom in spring after the mountain rain. It’s the little things that get her up in the morning, especially when it's needed most during these early morning shifts. At least she gets to watch the sun rise.
The clouds were hanging low this morning. Ty Lee looked at the car radio, noticed the time read 5:57, and flipped through the radio stations. Most stations came back a little static-y, Shenandoah was known for its little service. She kept flipping until she found one that was playing music and not a morning talk show. A blue fog permeated the air and made everything feel damp and sticky. She was hunched over the steering wheel making sure she didn’t hit anything around the bend in the road past the Elkwallow campsite.
As she came around and started to relax back into her seat a figure scrambled up the side of the mountain, staggered and collapsed in the middle of the road gripping its side. Ty Lee slammed on the brakes as soon as she saw the fuzzy movement coming out of the fog.
Huff, huff, huff.
She freezes. Arms outstretched and locked, gripping the steering wheel until her knuckles turned white. Shoulders bouncing like waves as she takes in gulps of air. Her heart reaching into her throat. After a beat, the music reaches her ears again and she remembers that helping people in the park is something she is supposed to do. Quickly Ty Lee takes off her seatbelt and steps out of the car slowly. She leaves the car on, and just in case this is a situation she needs to run away from she can hop back in. The lights of the car disperse some of the fog and cloud. She continues moving slowly up to the figure. She can hear labored breathing and a quiet dammit. She sees that the figure’s right side was the one being held.
“Hey, are you hurt? I can help you-” her voice trailed off. The figure was struggling to get away. She noticed the figure was a woman around her age with loose black hair, wearing a tattered flannel and black pants. The white shirt underneath was stained dark red. While the blood was alarming so was the woman’s long fluffy ears, fangs, claws, patchy fur breaking through the tattered clothing, and the tail.
Her gray eyes met the cold, mesmerizing gold ones that seemed to be glowing. Her breathing stopped. As she takes in the woman before her, she remembers a conversation she had when she first started out at Shenandoah.
“You got to tell them about the monster sightings here,” Toph nudged Katara.
“Knock it off, Toph. They’ve worked in the Park Service long enough to hear of many, many monster sightings, Bigfoot encounters, and if Mothman lives in just West Virginia or does he fly around the country.”
“Oh, come on, just because you’re the Chief Ranger doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun with these two. I can’t just leave them in the dark about our crazy stories just because it’s not considered official Park information.”
“I’d like to hear these stories, Toph,” Ty Lee interjected.
“Oh, God, no Ty Lee don’t-” Katara tried to stop Toph from going on about their monster sightings but it was too late.
“Sokka doesn’t like when I tell stories about the supernatural either but I can’t help it, they're so interesting,” Suki chuckled in an aside to Ty Lee, “I’d like to hear them too Toph!”
“You guys don’t realize the floodgates you just opened. I can’t hear this rant again so training is done today,” Katara said, waving off to the trio. Her face said she’s heard Toph talk about this more times than she can count.
“Oh you love me, Sugar Queen-”
“Heard that!”
“She loves me. Oh boy, you lillylivers have never heard stories like we have here at this Park.” Toph started chuckling and rubbing her hands together, seeming more like a manic villain than a storyteller.
“I mean I’ve heard stories about Appalachia before,” Ty Lee said.
“Sure, Shenandoah has stories of Bigfoot or the wildmen coming up from the lower hills. But people have also seen rock golems and trolls, gnomes living under tree roots, the usual ghosts, werewolves-”
“Werewolves?” Suki broke off Toph’s list. From what Ty Lee could remember neither she nor Suki have heard stories of werewolves in Parks. At least stories worth remembering or had a long enough history to drive people out to certain areas.
“Oh yeah. Howling, animal carcasses, some people come in acting weird around full moons. It happens every month. Stories of werewolves have been around for hundreds of years around this area. I’ve heard plenty” Toph gets real close and quiet, “There are werewolves here I know it.”
Ty Lee didn’t think anything of the conversation at that moment. She just brushed it off as the usual Park culture surrounding those tales. There was always one Ranger who loved to indulge in cryptid sightings and stories. She at least liked to hear from either Rangers or visitors of their encounters. She never thought they were real. But as she is faced to faced with what she has concluded as a half transformed werewolf she questions all she has heard. Even though this werewolf probably has the strength to still kill her despite a bleeding injury, she takes in a deep breath and moves closer. She has to try and help her before she bleeds out.
“Stay back!” the woman growled. “Don’t come any closer.”
“But, you’re hurt! I can help you. I promise I won’t tell anyone about this. Please, you’re gonna bleed out before the sun rises.” Ty Lee pleaded, holding her hands out in front of her.
“I don’t need help from some idiot Ranger. I’m fine.”
Did she just give me sass? And ignore her alarming injury?
She scrunched up her face in confusion and annoyance at that, “Excuse me?”
“What could you even do to help me,” she said in between labored laughs.
She couldn’t believe it. She’s laughing at her for offering help. She gets she’s a ranger (and human) but she’s not the one injured in the middle of the damn road. Whatever, maybe she has a monster doctor she can crawl to. She gives the woman one last look over.
“Fine. I’ll go, not because I don’t care that you’re injured, but that attitude was not needed. And I could help you know-“
“Why can’t you just waste your breath back at the ranger station,” the woman said, annoyed looking up through the trees as if she was asking a higher power to help her in her most desperate case of inconvenience. A plea the woman made under her breath but Ty Lee knew she said it for her to hear too. God, why was she so stubborn about getting help. She could just be in the back of the car getting stitched up. Pursing her lips she spun on her heel, hoping to give some attitude back to the werewolf, and made her way back to the car. She just had to assume the woman would get out of the road by the time the Park woke up. She’d have to think of a way to explain the trail of red. Probably just saying something along the lines of roadkill.
There was no way anyone back at the station would believe her. Well, besides Toph. But she doesn’t really want Katara getting annoyed with her at the fact she’s telling the same stories as Toph about werewolves in the park. Or things large enough to attack and stun werewolves either. The thought made her shiver but she pushed it down. She hasn’t seen anything like that yet best not to dwell on it.
Thump.
Huh? That sounded an awful like… She peeks over her shoulder to see the woman slumped over. Not moving. Instinct told her to not get involved. Maybe the werewolf was right, maybe she was telling her not to get mixed up in the dealings of the supernatural. But her gut was telling her she couldn’t just leave her there to be found by another person. She knew she could- should- help her. And keep her secret safe. She was having trouble believing in what she was seeing, so how could she explain it to the others? They’d think her story more outrageous than those Toph repeated. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. She rushed back to the woman and turned her on her back.
“Come on, come on, you can’t be dead,” she looked for any signs of life. Albeit in small movements she noticed her chest rise and fall indicating she was still breathing. “I knew a smart ass would put up more of a fight against death.”
“Okay, you need to get in the car,” Ty Lee grabbed the woman’s arm and threw it over her shoulder. She held onto the non-bleeding side and carried (dragged) her to the car. She did her best to place her gently into the passenger seat. Every park car came prepared with a first aid kit. Reaching into the back Ty Lee found it. She needed the bleeding to at least subside before she could take her back to her place. She wrapped some gauze around the injury to act as a poor man’s tourniquet. She will probably need to get some serious cleaner next grocery trip.
Closing the door Ty Lee leans back and breathes out. She notices the blue light of the early morning has begun to turn into the soft light of the rising sun. The same sunrise she has seen for years and always causes her to pause when she starts her workday. Today, it fills her with a sense of urgency that she needs to get this bleeding smartass out of sight of visitors. Bracing herself she gets in the car.
I really hope this isn’t considered kidnapping. Ty Lee was hurrying out of the park down through Thorton’s Gap. I’m supposed to be at the desk soon. Suki isn’t there yet. Maybe if she texts her saying she forgot something, Suki can have her back and will hopefully be bought by the others. And explain why she had a park car. They’ll never let her live it down. By the time Ty Lee figured out a decent excuse for being late and returned to cell service she was pulling into her driveway.
As quietly and quickly as possible Ty Lee got around to the passenger side and checked on her patient. The bleeding seems to have stopped. Carrying her again she lead her into her little house. It wasn’t the grandest place in the world by no means but it was hers nonetheless. Just a little one story home surrounded by groves of trees yet still close enough to town to not feel isolated. Ty Lee set the woman down into one of her kitchen chairs thinking it’d be easier to treat the wound that way. As she slid her off of her shoulders one of the fuzzy ears caught her cheek. Oh my goodness they’re as soft as they look. I wonder if I could- NO! Stop! Get it together girl don’t do that. Her personality is not as fluffy.
Ty Lee let out a breath. “Okay, you probably have a werewolf in the home. No big deal,” she shrugged her shoulders but it didn’t feel as nonchalant as she’d like. “Let’s put some gauze around this.”
An ear twitch. Then a groan escaped the werewolf’s mouth, showing fangs, “Dammit.” Bringing a hand to her face she rubbed out some remnants of unconsciousness. “Where…?”
Golden eyes met gray ones again. “Ha ha, you’re awake.”
“Is this your place?” She growled out. “Were you not listening to me through our entire interaction?!”
“Well, I was going to leave you and watch you crawl away, but then you slumped over. You only passed out but I thought you might’ve be on your deathbed, soooo I brought you back to mine so I can stitch you up,” Ty Lee explained. Waving her hands in the next second, “But I didn’t intend to kidnap you or anything! I’ll take you back to wherever you need.” The stranger was still staring at her with a scrunched brow. “I just thought, well, I can’t leave you for dead. I didn’t want to expose your, um, fur, to anyone else. You seemed pretty against it. I just thought I can fix you and pretend like I never met you.”
“How charitable,” the woman sarcastically replied. “I think I’ll get going now, unlike you humans I heal rather quickly.” Standing up she took in a sharp hiss of breath and reached for her side.
“You need to let me take a look at it.” Ty Lee said sternly.
“No way, you don’t even know what gave me-“
“Sit.”
“No,” she tried taking a step away. Another hiss of breath and a loss of balance. She stood in place.
“Sit.”
Not making eye contact with Ty Lee, the stranger slowly turned her body back into the seat. “Thank you,” Ty Lee added pointedly.
“Can you remove your flannel? It'll be easier to deal with.”
“Yes, your majesty.”
“You know maybe we just got off on the wrong foot,” Ty Lee said, moving to sit on her knees to get a better angle of the wound, “why don’t we tell each other our names?”
“…”
“Yup, no, you’re right, I’ll go first I’m Ty Lee. Been working at the park for a few years now.” And will probably have my ass handed to me for being late and taking a park car.
When she didn’t hear a reply back she just let it be. She just focused on what she was doing. Thankfully the wound wasn’t too deep but she wanted to give some basic stitches to it to be safe then put some disinfectant on it before wrapping gauze around her side. The wound was concerning in the fact it was three claw marks. Looks like she was fighting something nasty. Thinking back to her running up the side of the mountain in a hurry, she may have just been able to keep whatever it was down long enough to escape. Just from talking to her she thinks this girl probably has an ego larger than her. I wonder what’s out in the park, monstrous enough to mess with this woman….
“You’re not awful at this thing.” Ty Lee didn’t realize she was being watched the whole time.
“Oh, yeah, well we offer different levels of aid training at the park so I’ve taken all of them. Lead me to keep miscellaneous medical supplies around, I suppose.” Not just because she gets hurt a lot when out in the field but she does not need to know that.
Finishing up the last stitch she admired her handiwork. Her patient wasn’t that bad during the process. As she went along she noticed lost her wolf-like features. Her body seemed to have been in survival mode. Turning to the side she reached for the gauze and disinfectant.
“Azula.”
“Huh?” Ty Lee looked up.
“My name. It’s Azula.” Ty Lee noted she was looking off to the side when saying her name. And were her cheeks a little pink?
“Awww, you told me your name,” Ty Lee added a sing-songy tone to her voice.
“Don’t push it, you’re still an idiot Ranger.”
“That idiot Ranger is bandaging you up so be nice.” She waited a beat, “it’s a pretty name.”
“…Thanks,” Azula mumbled.
“Sooooo, are you werewolf? Are there other monsters and creatures in the park? Does that mean Bigfoot exists because I can’t tell you how many people talk about seeing-“
“What did I just say about pushing it?”
“Well, after already seeing your fluffy ears and tail I figured you could just confirm.”
“I don’t know about that, it seems like you put two and two together there.”
“I just want to make sure I can protect all in the park, and take out anything harming anything or anyone.” Ty Lee mumbled.
Azula stayed silent.
“Well, it seems that’s enough gauze. The bleeding has stopped for a minute so that’s a good sign. You should probably eat something to get your sugar levels back up. I’ll leave it up to you though if you want to stay or I can take you to the car.” Ty Lee started to look for some snacks in the kitchen.
Buzz, buzz.
“Is that your phone?” Azula asked.
“Yeah I needed to be at the desk an hour ago. At least it’s a weekday.”
“I think I’ll stay here.”
Ty Lee spun around stunned, “What?!?”
“I mean I’m used to being somewhere more comfortable and…nicer, but it’ll do.” Azula gave a judge-y look to the home decor.
Ty Lee gave her a look, “Let me drag you to the couch.”
“Oh, you don’t need to do that.”
“Too late!” Ty Lee grabbed the back of the chair and dragged Azula into the living room. She had three little steps that separated the rooms and being a little mean back she punctuated each step. She only felt a little bad. Reaching the couch she let Azula steady herself on her arm until she settled into the cushions. “I’ll leave some snacks here for ya, but you should get some sleep. I’ll get you more food and clean clothes later but I gotta run back.”
“How hospitable of you.”
“Try not to destroy my place while I’m gone. I’ll be back in the evening.” Ignoring Azula’s last remark, Ty Lee ran out the door and sped out of the driveway.
The sound of constant buzzing shook Azula awake. She fumbled around for her phone, surprised it didn’t get lost during her nasty encounter. She saw she had been asleep for a few solid hours, she also saw that she had a missed call from Mai.
Picking up the call she gave a groggy, “Can I help you?”
“Glad to hear you’re not dead but you sound like it.” Pulling the phone away from her face she let out a sigh, making sure it was loud enough for Mai to still hear.
“What happened and where are you? I’ve been hearing word that there’s a trail of blood going across the road in the park freaking people out.”
“Were you not with me during that fight?!”
“I lost track of what was going on. I wasn’t about to die either,” Mai responded in her usual deadpan tone. “Now, where are you?”
“I’m, I’m uh,” Azula swallowed, “A Park Ranger found me…and now I’m at her house…after she stitched me up.”
A building derisive laugh could be heard on the other side of the phone.
“I’m totally going to tell Zuko, hah, hah, hah, a Park Ranger?! Ha, ha, ha!”
“Can you laugh at me in your own time?! Did you not hear that she had to stitch me up and take me off the road?! My wound isn’t healing like normal and she saw me half transformed.”
“I was going to circle back to that…eventually. I heard you, I heard you, I know that’s not good. How did she handle it? Let’s focus on not letting the existence of the supernatural world be known in the park.”
“She wants to learn more about it, but said she wouldn’t say a word about me. She didn’t freak out as much as I thought a Ranger might. She kept saying she had a problem with my attitude mostly, for some reason.”
“Right, for some unknown reason.”
“Yeah?”
“Anyway, so this Ranger…”
“Ty Lee”
“This Ranger Ty Lee knows about you now so I’ll keep an eye on her.”
“She can’t get tangled up in this.”
“Already sounds like she is to me.” Mai hung up.
Maybe she could make a deal with the Ranger, to keep her secret, maybe she could let her know a little bit more about the other side of the Park.

Alright, this needs to stop.
As I mentioned over here, someone is stirring up drama between Zuko/Zutara and Azula blogs by harassing people in their inboxes. At least this time they have (mostly) used their own words instead of directly copying posts from other blogs. Or used a chatbot because boy, howdy, do these messages make no sense, even when they aren't directly copied from other blogs. The eye contact one is a post copied from another tumblr blog, and doesn't even make sense to plop into my inbox because there isn't even an argument presented.
You can see though that this blog has no content, but their followers list is full of Zutara/Zuko and Azula blogs, probably for the purpose of stealing posts to cause drama with. I would suggest everyone on the follow list block and report them immediately, and do this every time you get a message from a blog that looks like this.
@comradekatara, @atla-recluse, @ask-ozai, @ask-azula, @azulas-daddy-kink, @justanotherthrowaway1959, @betteravatarpolice, @a-s-fischer, @fireladyazula, @tinky-dinky, @attackfish, @ultranos, @loopy777, @innocentimouto, @dragynkeep, @atla-fandom-confessions, @wingsfreedom, @zuko-always-lies, @atla-lore-archive, @prying-pandora666, @zuctionary, @zvtara-was-never-canon, @burst-of-iridescent, @waywardbananawolf, @firelxdykatara, @waywardavatarenthusiast, @juniperhillpatient, @super-hero-confessions, @azulas, @firenaition, @waterfire1848, @ly0nstea, @the-badger-mole, @phoebester, @err0r4x, @doodlesanime
If you notice a blog like this following you, liking your posts, or sending you messages, they are stealing posts and trying to cause drama. Block and report them.
You can also follow the link to my previous post to see the list of other blog urls they have used, and you can go to each page and see that the blogs look very similar and have similar if not identical follower lists.

I hope you don't mind me summarizing the post, since it concerns us Azula fans too:
It's about the bot sending out our posts. Sokkastyles is sick of it, and they've even tagged all of you to tell you about it (and ask you guys to help stop the bot), though that didn't do much because either you've blocked them or they've blocked you.
Here's a list of all the blogs they've tagged:
@comradekatara, @atla-recluse, @ask-ozai, @ask-azula, @azulas-daddy-kink, @justanotherthrowaway1959, @betteravatarpolice, @a-s-fischer, @fireladyazula, @tinky-dinky, @attackfish, @ultranos, @loopy777, @innocentimouto, @dragynkeep, @atla-fandom-confessions, @wingsfreedom, @zuko-always-lies, @atla-lore-archive, @prying-pandora666, @zuctionary, @zvtara-was-never-canon, @burst-of-iridescent, @waywardbananawolf, @firelxdykatara, @waywardavatarenthusiast, @juniperhillpatient, @super-hero-confessions, @azulas, @firenaition, @waterfire1848, @ly0nstea, @the-badger-mole, @phoebester, @err0r4x, @doodlesanime
And here's a list of the blogs Sokkastyles says has been sending posts to them:
@bitchygardenerkryptonite
@saltysoulkidcreator
@sshdhdhdhdh

@foulpersondefender
@alwaysgenerouscupcake
@qualitymentalityperson
@delightfulturtlesandwich
@saintnoviceprince
@juniorscientist52
"The fact that these blogs are largely empty and have word salad usernames is a dead give away that there is no real person behind them, plus the fact that there are so many. I've gotten multiple messages a day in my inbox, sometimes from multiple blogs and sometimes the same message. They are always posts taken from Azula stan blogs, mostly @zuko-always-lies or @akiizayoi4869."
They also have similar follow lists. (And usually are just a blank blog with no posts and they have the default tumblr logo)

Thanks for the tag @stardust948
Also love seeing the little crumbs of BITHTL!!
“And their brother needs his name.” Sokka reminded, “I have an idea. I think you’ll love it.”
“Sokka, please don’t name our son after one of your inventions or-“
“Lu Ten.”
Azula froze. For a few seconds, she didn’t move or speak. Then she looked up at her husband with wide eyes.
“What?”
“Lu Ten. Your cousin’s name.”
“You…you’d be okay with our son being named after him.”
“Zuko told me how much he meant to you guys. I figured that if we had a son you’d at least want the option of naming him after the one family member you don’t have bad memories with.”

RULES: Post the last sentence you wrote (fanfic / original / anything) and tag as many people as there are words in the sentence (unless you’re like me and write enough run on sentences to where you can’t possibly tag that many people for words).
From the fic where Tenzin gets his tattoos:
She took it in less than a heartbeat and the smile that grew on his face was more confident with the grounding squeeze she provided him.
No pressure tagging: @kurocache @risingsoleil @chiefbeifongcanrailme @oldandirrelevant and anyone else interested :)

😮😍😍
Being blessed to see both @stardust948 and @doodlesanime absolutely amazing artwork and having Stardust create such a cute/incredibly AU
Also Wolf Children is such a good movie!
Loving @waterfire1848 and @stardust948 current au with ursa also being a dragon instead of ozai and I needed to do more ursa mom content and dragon-cat behavior content
#also this seems just so accurate#Azula and Zuko play fighting as kids in their dragon forms#and Ursa having to keep them from accidentally scratching the other#it’d be fine but the neighbors would wonder where the scratch marks came from#my heart is melting from the purring pile#they’ve had a long day and just need to rest
