Posted @withregram • @ewmcrenew TODAY IN LABOR HISTORY: On August 1, 1917 Union Organizer Frank Little was dragged from his boarding house room by six masked men. He was beaten and taken to the edge of town where he was lynched and hanged from a railroad trestle. A note with the words “First and last warning” was pinned to his thigh, referring to earlier vigilantes giving people three warnings to stop objectionable actions. An estimated 10,000 workers lined the route of his funeral procession, which was followed by 3,500 more persons. He was buried in Butte’s Mountain View Cemetery. @cannibality i remember reading something that disproved the accusations of jews being massacred by makhno but cannot find it

I know it’s contested, I base this off of something I read written in the 30s by Jewish survivors. It could have been a forgery, but it seemed pretty convincing/ The argument was not that Makhno deliberately organised pogroms, but that his army consisted of barely-trained and barely-organised Ukrainian peasants who loathed Jewish people and had no oversight, so when he sent them off to do whatever, a lot of the whatever they ended up doing was terrorising Jewish people.

PLUG IN PDX

PLUG IN PDX is a seemingly infinite collection that does two main things:

1) It offers a portal to different organizations doing anti-fascist, equality, and social justice work. If you are still looking for more ways to devote your energy to good, this could be a place to start. 

2) It hosts a very impressive collection of readings and other materials, including a lot of interesting historical and cultural articles that we can read to help us be informed and understand the broader context and narratives that we’re acting within. 

Within those resources there is a page that includes a to-do list and readings about Resistance Tactics that is highly recommended. It includes everything from manuals for organizing t information about self defense and self care, resources about how to be an ally, and information about what your rights are in the face of government and law enforcement powers. I also really appreciated this 6 page Syllabus for White People to Educate Themselves.
