I think cowbells existence is rather tragic

it's like a ghost now

it's seen when people need something to talk to, something that won't talk back. or just get ignored when it will open it's mouth

there's no good things in store for it, why would there be? it steered away from the pack and now they're all gone and it's still there all alone

packless, mateless

but did it really steer away on its own or was it chased away by bored looks and conversations dying down whenever it showed up?

it can't touch, can't be touched, doesn't deserve it

it's a cautionary tale for siblings and ghouls all the same, now, warning of what happens if you try too hard to fit where you dont belong

and then it lays there, staring into the darkness that stares back at it but even shadows themselves doesn't really see it. and it thinks to itself that it all makes sense
