To me, the thing is that the show at first had different stypes for all the girls. They all felt comfortable both in skirts and in pants, it's just that each of them used one more than the other.
In the first seasons, each girl had their style and their outfits were unique and different to fit those stiles.
Now, it's like they're all wearing uniforms, the same ugly outfits to all of them, with just the colors to differ.
that's what i'm saying!! none of the girls were ever uncomfortable or against dressing femininely, they just all had their own styles and personal comfort levels with it. obviously the later seasons fucked that over but my problem is when people act like canon musa was never "girly" in the early seasons or that she would be against traditional femininity. i've seen people headcanon that she would make fun of stella for that and like... dude... she made fun of that one Very Creative dress stella made because it was ugly and she didn't understand why stella was so into the beauty pageant, but that doesn't mean she would ever make fun of her for being a high femme!! she's so supportive of stella being That Bitch and acting like she isn't is fucking weird!!
like again i have no issue with people criticizing the later seasons for getting rid of their individual styles and overly feminizing all of them (cause that's exactly what happened) nor do i have an issue with people headcanoning that musa is a tomboy or redesigning her looks to be less feminine, but i do have an issue with people treating canon musa as this Anti Feminine Tomboy Who Hates The Winx And Pink. it just screams racist misogynistic, especially when they do it with aisha too like DUDE

i cannot find the post or if I imagined it but that that one tweet where one of the writers is like id like to think homophobia or the concept of the closet whatever doesn't exist in the future is so so strange when it comes to Bangalore's character cause she is portrayed as this person who (imo) represents a lot of the repressed nature found in a structural environments like the IMC and military in general who uphold homophobia, ableism etc..
the point im getting at is i feel the writers have gone out of their way to emphasize the expression of denial and alienation in Anita's character (not believing her brothers dead[note* this one was true but still its about conveying to the audience], liking loba, not wanting to admit the ICM’s crimes, and to some extent her friendship with wraith) as faults that developed because of personal resentment and fail to consider what that would mean for a lesbian coded character like Anita.
the reason i point this out is because a lot of that denial seems to bubble into internalized hatred for herself and hostility for people who share traits she has come to recognize as "unfavorable"
like in most obvious of ways her outright refusal to renounce the IMC which..
considering she grew up on a military operated planet she still holds like a lot of misogynistic attitudes especially towards women who express themselves in a feminine manner and like you could say it stemmed from her grievances with her brothers's gf but they are still specific to women..like she makes it clear that she is directing that weariness specifically to women . she hates men too because they are stupid and self-interested... but.... anyone can be stupid and act like that and ESPECIALLY in this character just makes her seem even more aligned with lesbianism actually... like even just her excessive use of the term ladies in squads full of men, “dont call me lady” etc..(btw like where do you think that was learned -_-) she has come to align feminine traits with weakness or a weapon to wield against authority in environments where that power is kinda expected to go to men. ASSUMING these structures are even just specific to Gridiron and not the Frontier as a whole its still funny that the writers were like homophobia is over :) but we still hate women who express themselves in this one specific way like ok lol
less obvious but even with wraith... the ableism there.. i just dont know why the writers would go down this path to show anita as like? this hateful person when Anita herself is NOT the most shining example of neurotypical behavior either..unless to continue the narrative of trying to distance herself from these traits.. but again they make her repeat those insults to a point it seems irredeemable which sucks cause i feel like people already find her unlikable and its continuing a narrative i find really gross.
anyways, ultimately it does result in a character that comes off with a ton of internalized lesbophobia in a universe where the concept doesn't...exist? like maybe if the loba/anita relationship where straight i could understand her not wanting to get attached to anyone, i could understand this coming off as her being a “private” person. WHICH. like she still can be... but even NOW with Valks introduction as woman who is unapologetically GAY ...its hard to not make the comparisons..like seriously..
theres a line im not sure theyll ever use for the halloween event or something but its directed towards anita and im not going to say what it is but like thinking abt it. HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO TAKE IT?
ofc this does seem like an issue of dissonance in writing with language/ perceived assumptions that dont translate well in contexts from modern life to the apex universe which i guess is also my fault so like sorry for existing in this day and age and being a lesbian but uhh ok im done whatever also i havent kept up with the lore so maybe im wrong idk

like listen I'm a casual mario games player and I dont know the like, deep lore or anything, but daisy is the fucking coolest. how are people gonna be like “oh she’s so useless and boring she’s just a clone of peach” when they LITERALLY changed her entire appearance and personality after her first video game appearance so that she WOULDN’T be a clone of peach anymore?? that one game in which she was a clone of peach came out in 1989, I have never played it, and im certain that most people who hate daisy have also never played it. so it should not be relevant. her appearances in recent games in which she’s shunted to appearing as different peach skins isn’t a comment on her character, that’s a comment on the fact that Nintendo fucking KNOWS daisy is widely hated and they wanna sell games obv so they don’t feature her prominently. as to how their personalities differ, just compare these two descriptions of their characters from the wiki:
Princess Peach is shown to be a sweet, kind, and optimistic person, while also being classy and sociable, with more and more portrayals further displaying her as clever and adventurous. She has a warm heart and often acts unselfishly, putting her friends, loved ones, and citizens ahead of herself, and apologizes excessively for getting into trouble and requiring Mario to rescue her. She even shows concern and compassion towards her enemies frequently; she saves Mimi in Super Paper Mario, despite the girl's constant antagonism of the princess, and in the same game and other games, her pure and noble characteristics are often shown in different ways[...].
(x)
Daisy is portrayed as a tomboy with an extroverted personality and a tough demeanor. She can be described as spunky, energetic, loud, cheerful, and confident. [...] She also has a sassy side, often regarded for her wittiness and attitude. Unlike Peach, Daisy is not as proper or poised as she would be based on her appearance and status as royalty; such as standing with her hands on her hips, exhibiting hotheadedness in defeat, showboating in victory, and showing off to get her way. [...] She likes to go shopping and dine at fine restaurants, but gladly passes up such enjoyments to train instead.
(x) (emphasis mine)
and people will still be like “there’s no reason for her to exist/nintendo should retire her” as if reducing the number of female characters in a video game franchise where they’re already few and far between is a good idea 🙄 so here’s some reasons to stan daisy for clear skin:
one of her main character traits is her sportiness, and it’s so important to see that in a girl character who also doesn’t abandon her femininity. hear me out. daisy often has special fighting abilities that other characters don’t, and is a technical character on sports games. (I started liking her from playing mario kart wii, in which she is literally one of the most powerful and stat-boosted characters.) often when female characters are physically strong (seen as a masculine trait) they’re not allowed to like typically feminine things like dresses, jewellery, and shopping. not daisy. daisy wears dresses and jewellery and loves to shop, but she also wears racing suits and sportswear and is extremely skilled at an incredible number of sports. she’s competitive and ambitious (more traits often seen as masculine) yet still allowed to be flirty and feminine. her whole theme is florals, an extremely feminine symbol, and in some games, she even attacks her enemies with flower petals. that is so fucking dope. that said to me, as an impressionable kid, that you could be strong and competitive and sporty and at the same time be interested in fashion and shopping and flowers. it said to me that I could have both masculine and feminine elements to me, that I didnt have to choose. things are definitely improving in this area lately, but gender roles were and are so narrowly defined and then forced onto kids. look at any toy store and note the extreme differences between “girl toys” and “boy toys” -- they even gender the kinder surprise eggs now for chrissakes. so having a character who loves both traditionally masculine and traditionally feminine things is pretty important, not only for impressionable kids but for adults, most of whom are complex and do like both masculine and feminine things, and want a character to relate to.
she’s unapologetically confident, which is just so inspiring to see. daisy was doing the radical self-confidence thing way before it became a trend lately. (that's not me dunking on the trend, I love it and hope it endures, im just pointing it out.) her soundbites when she wins are my favourite -- she says things like “yeah, I’m the best!” and “yes, I rule!” which I know some people interpret as arrogant, but sometimes you just gotta hype yourself up, you know? she also has a high opinion of her physical appearance, referring to herself as “the fairest in the land” in one mario party game. again, the impressionable kids point -- they need a character who is self affirming and has a high opinion of herself so they can emulate that. shit, I know a lot of adults who need that too. lots of self esteem issues start in childhood, and having a character who normalizes loving yourself wholly and in different aspects of yourself could help counter that.
she’s also fucking funny. she's assertive. she bitch-slapped bowser into the stratosphere. she’s a legend. princess daisy is everything I want to be and nintendo fans need to get over whatever weird grudge they have against her (probably just misogyny, but thats another essay-length post) so we can get her back in new nintendo games. we need her now more than ever.

Hi could you talk more about why youd recommend not watching ww84?
Sure!
warnings for under the cut: spoilers for WW84 and a bit of the first wonder woman; i only saw WW84 once a few days ago + it’s been a hot sec since i saw the original so if i get a few details wrong i apologize
tl;dr with no spoilers: WW84 is a poorly executed movie that insults its viewer with its messy and self-proud plot, bad character/relationship portrayals, and offers a personal slap in the face to a majority of its audience in their various discriminations, generalizations, and plot points.
the first point is the racism, made well by the post i reblogged here, (edit: found a second post that goes more in depth here) so i’d just suggest looking at that for that matter
next is just How they portray wonder woman in this one
i really appreciated the way the first movie portrayed diana because they did very well in keeping true to her Amazonian raising and life while still clearly showing she was a woman
when i say this i mean that a lot of media has a tendency to either make women who are very fem and keep to traditional gender roles or women who more or less shun femininity and attempt to largely fulfill only male gender roles
diana in the original is a warrior, strong and fierce, but still a woman, not trying to shun that or anything. she wears styles that suit her while still being woman’s styles (she doesn’t force her way into a suit), she talks of and addresses her womanhood proudly and without issue, etc
i want to note here i have no issue with female characters who act extremely masc and reject femininity- i love them tbh- but it’s important to remember that it’s not inherently against womanhood or anything to be a strong fighter who doesn’t stick to every stereotypical social gender norm
and the first wonder woman movie shows this very well
WW84... oh boy
first of all, wonder woman’s changing outfits every other scene. even between scenes where it makes no sense! i’m not saying she can only wear one set of clothes but Geez this was too much
not to mention an entire scene dedicated to her helping steve pick a fashion look? i understand this was to highlight the ‘80-ness of the movie, and it would’ve been fine if it seemed diana was helping him pick a period appropriate look, but it was clear she was trying to help him pick a ‘fashionable’ look which. wonder woman? from the island without a sense of popular outfits or fashion? what?
and the amount of focus on her wearing high heels.... ugh
i’m not saying you can’t have a badass woman who also likes social gender norm fem things but it felt clear that wasn’t what they were going for
wonder woman in the first movie liked practical fashion and not only were many of her outfits not that, her high heels? one hundred percent not practical
it didn’t fit her character and felt horribly out of place, clearly just the producers / directors / whoever going ‘oh, wonder woman is a woman how can we show this? fashion! high heels!’ and i hated it
(warning: imma be jumping from thought to thought as they bump into each so uh... enjoy the train-of-thought style of flaw informing)
and starting at the beginning like.... wow that scene had no purpose
wonder woman cheats in a competition and is punished for this by losing it in the end. except. this is stupid for two reasons
as the audience is shown she didn’t cheat on purpose. she made a mistake, lost her horse, and made a strategy to get back into the race despite this. honestly? i thought the story was going to be a lesson in ingenuity in the worst looking situations. but it wasn’t, which is bad storytelling, because the lesson is then based on a point that isn’t even that true
it is literally Never important again later. unless you count what was going on with the wishstone as ‘cheating to victory’ which i dont. that’s not even what the villain did. he wanted to take over the world. there’s no victory there you get without cheating. wtf. why did that message even happen
going into the actual story we meet the cheetah pretty quick, when she’s still whatever-her-civilian-name-is
and the cheetah... she’s such a bad villain
she doesn’t have the same backstory as she does in the comics
in this one, she uses the wishstone- which is a whole ‘nother thing in and of itself- to wish to be like diana, because ig being smart as hell but social awkward as hell too is so bad you need to desperately wish to be someone else? i hate that trope, but onwards-
she gets that, but in exchange for not only diana’s likable personality she also gets her wonder woman powers (and she loses her glasses, because pretty and cool means no glasses, right? /s), she loses her kindness bc of the rules of the wishstone- in exchange for your wish, it takes smth u care about a lot from you; for her, it was her kindness
this makes her villain! just because she lost her kindness. yep. honestly not a good look regarding all those people out there who are low/no empathy and can still be wonderful nice people but i digress
at one point she complains about why she needs to keep her power rather than go back to being just Her and i fucking wanted to scream
she has like. half a dozen degrees, clearly a couple of friends even if she’s awkward, and she’s got a life that was perfectly okay before she made the wish. as someone who is also socially awkward as hell, it infuriated me to here her acting like it was the fucking end of the world she couldn’t be more extroverted or whatever. there are ways to work on that!!! the movie trying to convince the audience she had a legit reason to not un-wish her wish (for the good of the entire world) was stupid and insulting
also her transformation between ‘looks human, wearing cheetah-pattern clothing‘ to ‘humanoid with cheetah fur/skin/appearance’ literally just. happened. for no reason. that was stupid
y’know what else is stupid? the wishstone. it was clearly just a plot device, and a poorly executed one at that. it isn’t even consistent in how it works
and they did a whole side thing with like. how it had the language of the gods written on part of it and it appeared in random locations across history around the time of great tragedies and,,, that was it???
they never explored the divine connection??? who planted it or why??? how it location traveled or anything????
like i said. poor plot device
i move on now to steve
oh boy steve
he’s brought back to life by diana’s wish on the wishstone, but... it causes him to come back in someone else’s body, quantum leap style. this is. weird. and is never ever addressed by him or wonder woman except once in a throw away comment. like. diana and steve kiss and are implied to have sex while steve is in someone else’s body and neither of them seem to care. this is not good!!
and then his relationship with diana? HORRIBLE
in the first movie they were barely starting to fall in love, only barely a couple even if that. more importantly they were friends, and that night he died diana didn’t lose a potential lover so much as she lost her first non-Amazonian friend
but WW84 portrays their relationship as if they were not only already a couple, but one close enough that even after forty years since steve’s death diana is still completely and hopelessly in love with him to the point that she’s literally hanging off his arm as soon as he’s back and making love that very night
it plays again once more into the misrepresentation of wonder woman’s character (how stereotypically hollywood female to fall over herself at the sight of her love interest) and it wrecks their relationship, which had been a lovely friends-who-could-be-more
what they should’ve done was focus on that friendship, build it back up after the long gap for wonder woman, and then started to rebuild that possible romance (and tear it down at the perfect moment... right when steve had to go again... ah that would’ve been lovely)
but they wanted to go in full-haul on the romance and it just felt. wrong and weak to me. diana’s refusal to consider giving up her wish (to get her powers back and save the world) is bc she doesn’t want to let steve go again, which makes more sense in the context of a first and true friend rather than a hastily slapped together love interest
steve’s character was generally good tbh but the way he played into the story? bad
moving on... the main villain of the movie? sucks. he’s just. fucking awful
despite a motivation being given that he wants to have money, he launches into wanting to take over the world for no real reason. he takes advantage of people for this and almost destroys the world he wants to rule for it. the main reason he stops this is for his son, who up until now he largely ignored and didn’t seem to care that much for outside of basic obligations. and the movie dares try to make him sympathetic by throwing in the fact he grew up poor and was bullied and not liked which i HATE
lots of people are/have been poor. lots of people are/have been bullied (myself included). that does NOT justify them DESTROYING THE WORLD TRYING TO TAKE IT OVER. can it be used to show the audience why he does what he does? yes. but to use it and clearly try to make it a reason to hand-wave-away what he did? NO. FUCK NO
also fucking. y’know how wonder woman took down this villain? she talked to him and the world. she gave a stirring speech while she laid slumped against a wall, not injured, just too weak to beat a bit of wind. she talked and she looped her lasso around his leg so she could talk to the world to to convince them to give up their wishes
once again... the mischaracterization
in the first movie, wonder woman gives a stirring speech while fighting Areas. it’s done in her battle, beating the god of war up while reminding him of what she stood for, who she was, why she would keep fighting for a broken world
it was BEAUTIFUL. it was MEANINGFUL. it was BADASS but SINCERE
this was weak. and it clearly wanted to be more than it was
the whole movie wants to be more than it is- it wants to have an important meaningful message like the first movie, about wishes for the self and war and the world and whatever. and it wants it so badly it does it horribly
the message is ham-handed yet messy and unclear and not right. it doesn’t make sense, and it feels poorly plotted. the movie thinks it’s more than it is and that makes it very hard to watch
and to finish my rant off... WW84 lied to its audience
did you see any ads for WW84? i did. they were bright, vibrant, funky music, stunning moments, action and intrigue. i was thrilled for a movie like it
the actual movie isn’t that
it’s not nearly as action filled, it’s not as ‘80s-focused as it leads you to believe, some of the most prominently featured moments barely matter
the lightning swing? pointless, as at that point in the movie wonder woman’s learned how to fly and does it for no reason but the trailers
and that cool suit? introduced in a random myth for no reason halfway through the movie, brought in at random with no explanation, only there for show and the trailers
WW84 is not the movie is lead people to believe it was, and the movie it is is poorly executed and insulting to a variety of peopler/minorities
if you’re gonna watch it, pirate it. i can give you a link. just don’t give dc your money or your legit views for it

What hasn’t already been said: The Spanish Princess 2
Episode 2: SOdden (or Sod ‘Em depending on your persuasion)
(Dont know how long I’ll be able to keep these puns up)
Tumblr media
Catherine, like this woman, does not really fit into this era. But while this woman seems dropdead cool and at least looks the part, Catherine just...
To all those of you keen enough to have come back for another segment of ‘what hasn’t already been said: TSP’, as opposed to have just been scrolling when you see this - welcome back! (Scrollers you too <3)
To anyone who’s seeing this for the first time: what this is a list of observations, jokes, reactions and criticism which occur to me upon a rewatch. I wait every week until Saturday to do this so that I have had my fill of scrolling through the tag and aggregating what has already been said. I tried doing a whole spoof (here where I gave up 10% in) but tbh a) I don’t know the history well enough b) it’s more time consuming than I thought and c) this series is just not as funny or as crazy as TWQ, so it’s untenable. Having said that: This is not a hatepost. I’m not hatewatching this series and nitpicking on purpose but expressing my honest views and trying to find the good in it as well as the bad.
Without further ado...
First Scenes:
The baby cloth lifting into the ceiling of the chapel had nice ‘myth of the demon countess of Anjou (ancestress of the Plantagenets)’ vibes. I am 100% that was unintentional. I get this impression by the cringiness of the baby’s screams (what’s up with those sound effects? It sounded like a zipper).
Henry gives me such softboi vibes? It’s pleasing to me because it’s making me attracted to him as a viewer, but no good in convincing me this is Henry VIII.
I think Catherine’s exposition about how she feels is pretty ok actually, it’s fitting that she would feel anger.
CHARLES’ FATHER IS NOT MAXIMILIAN, IT’S PHILIP (or rather it was). ~~ A quick wiki search guyz, a quick wiki search. Ughh
Again with the whole everyone acting like Catherine is Queen. Can they cut it out? Also while we’re at it, what was Catherine’s attendance in councils even like?
The music was nice
Post Child announcement phase:
Oof I hate to say it but I lowkey wanted de la Pole back in this mother. Mainly because it would mean more Margaret Pole and by this point I am scared her storyline will fade in prominence now that there’s no longer a Yorkist subplot (showhorned as it was, it was the crowning glory of last season tied with Arthur x Catherine).
More x Maggie Pole and all of it over Seneca and learning :’). I already know this will be the best part of the episode.
‘We certainly know stoicism in our family’ ~ I guess she’s referring to Reggie? Because our boi Clarence was no poster boy for stoicism. Though could she be making an ironic reference to her father~?
Edmund de la Pole Debacle:
Well this convo at least passed the bechdel test.
Maggie and Edmund’s interactions here are touching. I know this plotline was rushed but I think it was just right to bring us back here for 5 min as a mournful throwback to the bygone era to which Maggie Pope belongs to and now continues to do so alone. It is emotionless and you can just feel how the York cause was hanging on by a tired old threat by that point.
Maggie Pole is becoming matronly now and I like this transition.
What bothers me about a lot of fans of Margaret Pole is that what they don’t realise is that she wasn’t all like ‘I want nothing to do with my family I’ll stay low and obscure’. While far more cautious than the likes of her ancestors, she did engage in land disputes with Henry VIII and was an outspoken supporter of Catherine and Catholic. Having her be a woman woth dubious loyalties towards the Tudors is accurate.
Scotland with Meg and Jammes:
LMFAO it’s like they read my mind when I spoke of how much I laughed when Meg was like ‘Alexander Steward you pig!1!!’ last episode.
Nice reference to Aulde Alliance
I like James.
Henry and Catherine on the balcony:
Was she commander of the forces? Was Howard appointed that? Regent she was, ok.
Charlotte Hope’s new hairstyles really suit her!
‘Will you please stop cursing’ agahsjdk ahah
No offence to women (of which I am one) but this comparison between childbirth and war is just... wrong. I know Starz think they are being smart but childbirth is far less impressive than winning or surviving a battle - comparing the two diminishes the bravery of soldiers. YET ,having said that, childbirth is necessary for our society whereas war is almost always futile and by comparing them, it wrongly represents violence as something inherently as natural to us as birth and continuing of civilisation. overall not a smart, respectful or accurate parrallel to make.
Meg and prep for invasion + Catherine in her weird armour:
So Margaret dreams that her husband is dead and bloody in her bed. Ughh show you neeed to get more creative. But I did like the whole ‘dreams are how our ancestors talk to us’ line from Angus Douglas.
Re: Meg in her beret... Why is Meg dressed like me going to the London shops in October? Digging the aesthetic but not sure about the accuracy.
Rich of Catherine to bring up Edmund.
Why is Ursula Pole crying??? What is all this to her really?
Did Howard just call the guard... sonny?? Is this some WW2 crossover?
Catherine - James and the tent parlay:
Did Catherine just insult Meg’s intelligence??
Also lmao I’m going to miss James.
Re: Howard saying ‘I’m not going to get insulted by a man wearing a dress’ .. UMMM Starz, you do know that just thirty years ago men were prancing about in dresses and leggings (essentially). From around the middle of the 14th century to the beggining of 16th century (if not earlier), Englishmen were also essentially prancing about in ‘skirts’.
Am I getting a weird cooperation-partnership vibe between Meg and James?
The Battle:
Charlotte Hope looks so good with the helmet, she’d really suit an english hood! Such a shame they won’t give her one!
Ewwww he’s eating mud, why?
Just standard battle scene. They are all the same to me no matter which movie.
Aftermath:
Jesus, I find the whole Meg crying over James IV so heartfelt ‘you arrogant bastard’ for some reason just came out so full of emotion. Can someone please explain why the hell I ship them more than Henry x Catherine?? Like how ??
Awwww Linna is sooooo adorable ughhh. Also this whole Catherine going into armour among all the women crooning over the children gives this adorable sense of Catherine boyish and bloodying herself out to protect their peace, idk. All I have to say is that these series is less eager to pitt women against each other than the previous. I think that’s a step forwards.
Also, good to see Catherine being modest about her victory so Henry can save face. Finally starting to seem like the real Catherine.
‘Go on you dog’ arghh ahah he sounds like some public school rugby lad egging his mate on.
Re: Wolsey cock-blocker; the real Catherine would know it was uncatholic to have sex when you were pregnant. Also Catherine is not technically speaking in confinement if she’s wandering about.
It’s nice to see Catherine sticking up for Howard, she at least learned to respect him during the battle.
I foresee Oviedo having enough of this Christian stuff and wanting to return to the berber domains (I suppose Spain is out of the question)
Knighting Ceremony:
Apparently Margaret Pole herself was made Countess of Salisbury during this same ceremony... right? @houseofclarence
Also Maggie Pole being like: “being a rebel is in my blood, or so they tell me”... gahhh what’s with these shows and the Clarence erasure? Can’t they make one bloody reference to her dad or grandad Warwick? Ugh. Especially with lines like this. Actually? You know what? Ignore my previous comment about the stoic remark and it being an ironic reference to Clarence. I put such subtlety above this show’s writers.
Catherine has a habit of going to the coldest places possible to lose her children...
Haha @ Henry asking Bessie Blount (of all people) where Catherine is.
Conclusion:
6/10
What I’m happiest about is that Flodden got dealt with in one episode because warrior xena Catherine is not what interests me most about this show. Having said that, it was a true shame that James IV died because his were some of the best scenes. This whole show is starting to feel so historical fantasy-ish because the aesthetics are so confused. Granted it’s still pretty (not eyesore like Reign) but it doesn’t penetrate.
I am as always invested in the Poles (and More) but am also starting to get attached to Princess Mary whose actress exudes plenty of charm. This show remains confused with its feminist message because while it shows women being proactive there is so much emphasis on babies that what remains with the mind after watching is this womanish birthdrama, as opposed to a show about struggles which affect both genders.
You might tut at me and say I’m being ridiculous and that it is historically accurate to put so much emphasis on women’s babies and I say that’s swell. I would happily watch a show where that element is strong (most pre 1995 historical dramas are like that with traditionally feminine characters and I gulp them up like sustenance), but if a show promises feminism and women-men being partners I want it to deliver that properly. As I said in my previous post, why do we keep trying to make women engage in acts like war as if such an abhorrent act is the only way to take them seriously? I await the day where cunning, rationality and cool-headedness will be the traits portrayed as feminist ones.
There is nothing else to really comment on... the only potentially deeper message in this is the gender discourse. I am unsure about the accuracy so I can’t speak of the historical value of the interpretation. But what I will say is that though I remain excited for each new episode... I’m just not as invested as I was in TWQ (rewatch every year dont @ me) or TWP despite their many flaws. Some characters pull me in eg Maggie Pole (Carmichael is a bae), Thomas More etc but not the whole cast like TWQ. Anyway... would be interesting to see if anything happens with Lina and Oviedo tommorow as their storyline is conspicuously slow.

Day Four of me playing ddlc for the first time
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i love Monika’s new second poem. i don’t really know why
“Please tell me you can hear me. Anything?”
Tumblr media
<3
Tumblr media
Yuri’s new second poem is so beautiful, it’s how losing control and wondering if whatever part of you is you will actually survive this moment, all done abstractly and surreally
NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOP
Tumblr media
i caaaaant no more fuck this game fricking Monika i just no no no no no no no no no non nonono no
Tumblr media
oh monika… :(
this game is scary as crap, also I need an important screencap for a post I’m making so I’m going to restart from the beginning beginning. I’ll try and get to know Yuri in the meantime!
Tumblr media
THIS FEELS A WHOLE AWFUL LOT LIKE A TRAP
i do want to see Sayori again. She was the heart of the game honestly and it’s so cold without her
Tumblr media
Nice!
THERE SHE IS !!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
you know, Sayori was wrong. if she wasn’t feeling “selfish“ and pursued MC when she knew they didn’t want her, and got them to not just join a club for their own good but to join her club so she could revive their friendship, so she could keep him at a peaceful distance where MC would never worry about her and she could keep her depression inside where it couldn’t hurt anybody… That won’t make it go away. Sayori wanting MC to join her club, that was like a subconscious cry for help, something she knows she needs. …i guess letting MC know her true feelings too was also… Idk MC shouldn’t be as oblivious, but the main reason for that is Sayori always hiding her emotions not to make them worry. It’s… a mess. Poor Sayori…
Fucking savage, Sayori
Tumblr media
Oh neat I was right, Monika originally says horror doesn’t fit Yuri
Tumblr media
I love the theory that Natsuki is trans because so many things do make sense under it, she loves manga one notable thing MC has in common with her and she’s adopted tsundere mannerisms herself too, in addition to dying her hair pink (and keeping it short, which is also a norm for girls in manga) so… Taking into account her abusive home life, she probably doesn’t get any love, in fact she needs love more in fact, that she wasn’t getting (MC talks about how the only friends besides Sayori were other “losers”). Tsunderes are always portrayed as desirable even when they push away; they rebuff advances they don’t want and are always the one in control of the relationships they do pursue, in addition to generally not being soft and feminine, which is something pre-transition Natsuki may have been worried about not having. In line with that, she adores cute things, which she may have always loved, although the thing I don’t get is why she’s so diametrically opposed to… Oh wait I answered my own question. Natsuki loves cute things but tsunderes can’t be seen that way, or at least, they need to hide it until someone knows them better. Either way, I adore her crush on MC! I was just thinking about how baking was like, her secret hobby before, instead of her Thing that she’d do for the club and why if she was so good at it and made everything so beautifully cute she’d be against a positive reputation as a cute person by the other members (who would have a sweet reason to do so, to let her know she’s accepted and welcome here– Oh. Oh that’s… Oh that’s the dirt Yuri threw in Act 2 in the fight where Natsuki made fun of her for self-harming which Yuri most likely told her in confidence after the theme of Act 1 that she and Natsuki are more alike than either of them think. I was always wondering what she ever could have said to make Natsuki run out of the room like that
Tumblr media
i love Yuri’s theme being flowy piano not clustered but also never silent, no rest for better or worse, a cacaphony but of beauty which could easily change tune to maddening. I also dig flute in orchestral music too~
Portrait of Markov sounds like an interesting read. I think Yuri convinced me to read it as well as MC!
Tumblr media
it Monika
Tumblr media
It’s me <3
Tumblr media
look it’s me, where did they get this footage
Tumblr media
this is so fucking funny, MC you fucking creep
Tumblr media
I don’t know why but I just love this screencap
Tumblr media
now I understand. when this happened in act 2 it Was different. Yuri’s still just as concerned and defensive, she’s just less strung out
Tumblr media
I wonder what Yuri is going to think of my poem now that it’s talking about themes that she enjoys
Why am I not surprised
Tumblr media
omg
Tumblr media
Yuri This Is So Fucking Funny How Much Do You Even Know About Poetry MC Is Literally Doing The Exact Same Thing As Last Time Deliberately Trying To Use His 100% Untrained Writing Skills To Artificially Impress One Of You By Dropping Key Words That Feel Like Something You Would Like To Read
Tumblr media
that’s right Yuri You Just Got Played By Some No Life Weeb
Tumblr media
a m a z i n g
Tumblr media
I finally understand this line now. It’s because Natsuki has a crush on MC, which she reveals she always had at the end of her weekend before the festival scene
Tumblr media
i know this is sort of dark but I think Yuri’s poem actually relates to her self-harm, like her second poem does, a reflection before …uh…i dont want to trigger anybody…leastofallmyself Just, you know… You can figure it out.
It explains the “bathing”, the “last remaining”, the “sickening [blue-green hue] of the future“, the “bathe” in the next line being directly tied to a sense of calm as she savors one last remnant of her past, and the last two paired lines reflect a sense of bittersweet happy peace.
The whole poem is also reminiscent of being in an actual bath, which…….i’ll stop now.
Tumblr media
I was just writing a post don’t worry
Tumblr media
Bless Yuri honestly. I’m happy she’s finally getting to feel accepted and liked. she just needs reassurance the world isn’t what her anxiety twists it into!
Tumblr media
i like this a lot!
Tumblr media
I just realized! I wonder what happens if I write one poem inspired by each member. I’ll have to try that~
sayo’s ukelele theme is making me cry i need a moment………
Whoever scored this is so fucking good it sounds just like her
i’m crying over sayori now…i have to go to bed..

This is for whoever needs it:
As much as it’s a mans responsibility to represent and respect his woman and instill trust and security in this situation, it is a woman’s responsibility to NEVER betray her sisters.
‘SISTERS’ meaning: Other Women, Best friends, Tribe, Trusted circle, Family, Girls etc.
Regardless of how a man acts. WE have the CHOICE to stand together, we have the ability to be resolute in protecting one another. I take woman’s empowerment VERY seriously so I’m not here to beat anyone down, I’m speaking from a place of love and healing. I will probably repeat myself 100 times, but it’s for a reason.
Maybe I have old skool values but Im in shock at what I’m seeing these days… and it is everywhere right now! In Music, Film, Entertainment like its a “normal thing”….But it’s NOT. Flirting with the man you know your friend has feelings for is a total dick move in my eyes. True “SISTERS” do not move in on their sisters men EVER.
Things that may seem insignificant are actually not… Even if there is no ‘intimate relations’ involved and it all seems innocent, just merely messaging/maintaining contact with someone else’s love interest is a fucking no no and can be another form of cheating and betrayal. And to a person of integrity, It is a CLEAR sign to have enough respect to proudly BACK THE FUCK OFF.
Not everyone has that consideration in this popular society. Unfortunately the concept of faithfulness is rare these days. And boundaries are totally skewed. It’s like we have been programmed and pinned against each other. But If we as women can learn to love ourselves and stand together hopefully we can arise and claim our rightful divine feminine connection.
Is it just me??? But I will never maintain private conversations with the men my girls/sisters hearts are invested in without it involving my sisters FIRST. (Read that twice). I have enough male friends so I don’t need to talk to my friends men unless my friends are present or involved in some way. I have a SUPER HUMAN amount of loyalty because I would expect that in return… I also move in a way to REPRESENT my future king, I know he would appreciate and reciprocate that same respect… but I’ve always been like that! Am I the ONLY one who gets that? Speak to me……
This is REGARDLESS of the situation or level of commitment and REGARDLESS of the circumstances. I have and will always roll with that respect. Please tell me I’m not alone in this!.
Here’s a scenario for you… Have you ever been a witness to the covert and conniving ways some women will behave to get what they want? Like its some kind of game🙄?… it’s that high school juvenile type shit… but sadly it’s carried on into adulthood. Even if they are already in relationships they get a kick out of attention seeking. The masks are evident and it is caused by deep ingrained pain and insecurity. Sadly most of the time we blame our men… but the man is often the innocent victim in all of this, caught in between you and someone he thought you respected… thinking that ‘this girl is your friend, she’s cool’ so he maintains his politeness in his unawares due to his pure heart. Yet when you confront your ‘sister’ on the red flags in her behavior she will project it onto you like your being paranoid or insecure, then your the one who looks childish and gets accused of being jealous and immature…… yeh?… I think we’ve all been through that pretty common situation…
But KNOW THIS MY BEAUTIFUL QUEENS: YOU ARE NOT being paranoid, insecure or jealous. THEY are in the wrong. This female friend of yours is betraying you and using your man as a pawn in her scheme in a covertly manipulative way. They are breaking your trust and being disrespectful! A real woman steps back and carries herself in regal light. We do not put on the award winning performance or an ‘innocent act’ or ‘play the victim’ when confronted. REAL sisters and REAL women do not play on each other’s vulnerabilities as a tool to get what we want. We don’t use each other or step on each other’s toes either! We take responsibility for our behavior…. So girls, if you are experiencing this at school, in the work place or where ever… know it is TOXIC behavior and it’s time to clear your energy and to take your power back.
So again, -Women with integrity, inner peace and self respect do not betray others. -Women who have genuine self love and honesty in their hearts don’t hurt each other like that. -Women who are secure in themselves don’t move like that.
As women we need to realize we are introduced to each other’s men/potential partners/love interests because our sister values us, trusts us and respects us enough to want us to be part of her life and share her journey and excitement in opening her heart and discovering the beauty of love… This is an honor and a privilege! How could anyone betray that gift?
So I say this with love: If your friends or so called soul sisters don’t move with genuine love for you or you feel suspicious in anyway, if your instinct is screaming RED FLAGS then they need to go ASAP. Get the scissors and cut ties pronto!
Healthy minded women DO NOT and WILL NOT EVER COMPETE for love. Because we live in our truth and we know that what is ours will always be ours. Our worth puts us into a place of knowing what we deserve. Our self respect will force us to walk away from any toxic situations. Betrayal is something that can be eliminated if we all learned to love ourselves enough first.
It all comes down to Self worth, Self love and Self respect. We are supposed to pave the way for each other, we clear a path for each other to be safe to stand in our own magnificence side by side. We move as one! Jealousy and competition are traits of those living in fear. Any strong woman knows there is no need for competition, we help each other recognize our crowns, we walk together as one, instilling power in each other’s hearts, we lead by example nurturing one another and sharing truth and guidance. We are the mothers, we are the creators.
So always remember: Anyone can be sexually confident, anyone can be free spirited but limits are limits. When we know clearly where and in whom each other’s hearts are invested, and when we proclaim to be spiritual or have soul sisters, we DONT move in certain ways that contradict it. I have seen masks fall clear off!
I learned the hard way and now I see through the fog… I hope this helps you choose to surround yourself with those who were raised with common sense and integrity. To value another persons feelings, and behave in a way you hope will be reciprocated. There are still some of us left!
After discovering my self worth through healing from toxic people, I try to always speak the language of security. Jealousy does not have a place in my heart. the core of my soul is free…although the tests come and go, I have been instilled with the blood of extremely strong women, so I stand proudly in my own skin. Im not making a statement out of fear or need for validation and I don’t need to shame anyone, karma always comes around. The guilty people in life already know they are guilty and they have to live with that. I am merely demonstrating how reclaiming your power and using your voice to create awareness can empower others.
So for anyone who needs to hear this, I say this on behalf of all my queens who want to speak up but cannot for any reason. I know what it’s like to feel silenced by a situation. I know what it feels like to be held prisoner by circumstances and I know what it’s like to be a victim of betrayal. No matter how the situation plays out, betrayal is betrayal and I use my voice as a tool of protection. If in my power I can protect any woman from emotional manipulation, or deception…. I WILL. Once we band together and HAVE each other’s backs instead of going behind each other’s backs, it will also result in our men leveling up, seeing through the facade and never allowing an unhealthy situation to even have a chance to unfold in the first place. He will shut that shit down quick time.
Masks fall off no matter what facade is being portrayed to the world… remain in your light beautiful women. And allow the universe to let the truth be revealed. Nothing but LOVE always. I stand with you.
Let’s stop being each other’s triggers and start being each other’s safe havens. Raise the vibration!
Nothing but love! Peace out! ✌🏽
