What are the ethnicities you hc for the aphmau characters?

𝐀/𝐍: i love this question ty so much for asking me!! it’s so fun to just freeball it since the characters are literal pixels haha. on top of the ethnicities, i also paired my updated face claims i have for them.

(in advance, i’d like to apologize if i give an ethnicity to a character and the face claim i gave doesn’t really match it? i personally have a hard time associating features with ethnicities, and i pulled the pictures from pinterest so it was hard to confirm all of the face model's origins. i tried my best to do the research.)

anyways, i also included some diaries characters in here as well! i tried to group them all in a way that was coherent so i hope it all makes sense!

𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐊 & 𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐋 𝐋𝐘𝐂𝐀𝐍: i really can’t see them as being anything other than native american. i just think it’s a perfect match for them

𝐀𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐍 & 𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐀: native american, obviously like their parents. 

side note: i did some research and found out that some native american people have short hair and cut it, while others keep it long for tradition and only cut it for grieving purposes. so i think it makes sense to hc them as this—though long hair on all of them would be awesome, too. anyways, please educate me if i’m wrong on this!

𝐙𝐀𝐂𝐊: hispanic, though i haven’t decided on specifics

𝐒𝐘𝐋𝐕𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀: hispanic, more specifically latina/mexican

𝐀𝐏𝐇𝐌𝐀𝐔: just like jess, i’ve always viewed her self insert as latina, too.

𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐑𝐘: i had trouble deciding for both him and travis, but i think i landed on him being french

𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐈𝐒: we don’t see his mom in mys, but we see her in mcd and she literally just looks like him. so i’ll say travis is also mostly french and possible mixed with another ethnicity to account for his nice tan

𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄: that is a white man. he’s from o’khasis, so i feel like he’s straight up an englishman.

𝐙𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀: i see her as a small amount of mediterranean, specifically greek, mixed with scandinavian. 

𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐇: garroth takes more after garte, though i think he’d have the bits of green in his eyes and tall nose from his mother. 

𝐙𝐀𝐍𝐄: zane looks more like his mother, with his dark eyes and pale skin, though he has his fathers eyes and the curse of burning in the sun like a vampire from the english side.

𝐕𝐘𝐋𝐀𝐃: he looks the most like zianna, and the unknown biological father seemed to have been european as well based on his skin?

𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐂: scottish (af) (samesies)

𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐙𝐀𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐇: british

𝐊𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐘𝐍 & 𝐊𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐘: british and scottish. the whole family is paler than a sheet of paper

side note: i wish we saw more of katelyn’s other little brothers :(

𝐇𝐀𝐘𝐃𝐄𝐍: undecided, though i’m leaning towards maybe spaniard and croatian? pretty sure the face model i chose for him is part italian, though.

𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄: he was difficult for me to decide on, because i feel like canonically he kind of presents as just a tan white man, but i like to think of him as a mix of northern italian and romanian!

𝐂𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐙𝐀: i personally view cadenza as being a little mix of scottish or irish, with her pale skin, ginger hair, and big blue eyes, it just makes the most sense to me.

𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐀: puerto rican mayhapsies?

𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐄 & 𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐄: i’m not sure why, but i always thought of dante and gene as being mixed with being hispanic and asian ever since i was younger. in my subj3 fic, i more specifically wrote them to be half puerto rican and half korean!

𝐒𝐀𝐒𝐇𝐀: russian/eastern european

𝐙𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐗: i have a face claim for him, but i haven’t thought of specifics on him yet. i’m leaning towards at least part hispanic, though.

𝐇𝐘𝐑𝐈𝐀: i’m not sure, but definitely european.

𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐀: since hyria is white, i like to think lucinda is half white and mixed with a little greek and a little indian from her father!

𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐀 𝐀𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐃𝐀: based on her name and her character design being clearly based off of japanese culture, i view her as being fully japanese!

𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐄 𝐕𝐎𝐍 𝐑𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐆: if not clear by her last name, she is so very clearly german to me. both by her last name and her coloring.

𝐊𝐈𝐌: ukranian

𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐙𝐄: mostly indian, and a small bit african

The real reason that Phoenix Drop's economy improved so rapidly after Garroth and Aphmau took over is because the previous head guard was embezzling funds from the town coffers, and Garroth actually cares about his code of honour.

I imagine him being so incredibly confused when he first starts being the one to run the books. Like, 'Wait, how is this possible? From the income sources available, I'm working with almost time and a half what I thought I was. How has the town gotten into such disrepair?' and then talking to Donna about it, and just having her start cursing out the previous head guard for being a 'dirty, thieving, son of a rat's whore' and Garroth just staring in horror -because respect for the dead and all, plus he was a guard, how could he be a thief?- and then Donna explains what probably happened, and Garroth just bluescreens.

Anyway, that's how they were suddenly able to afford to house a merchant after the old head guard and lord died.

Dear Sir Garroth,

Allow me to be plain with you, Sir. I'm angry at you. Pissed at you, really. Extraordinarily pissed, if you couldn't tell from the scorched edge of this letter you will likely never see. I'm not even sure why I'm still writing this seeing as I tried to burn it before I finished the first sentence. Perhaps only because it's something to do.

I was stabbed the day before the battle ended, do you remember? By a frost dagger. I would have appreciated the warning that the cold will run through your veins, perhaps from a man who used to wield one himself? You know how the cold afflicts me, you bastard. No matter, my blood is plenty warm with hurt now. Since you first bound it on the field, my stitches have been torn thrice. I collapsed the moment I stepped through the portal and had to be helped into town to see Donna.

Though she may be a wondrously talented medic, Donna is no healer or witch. There's only so much she could do and so she's ordered I remain on bedrest until I've healed to her liking. I'm loathe to bring that woman's wrath down on myself, hence why I am now writing pointless letters to men stranded in different realms. She has four children now, Donna; Yip, twin boys Lello and Rollo, and a girl named Luca. She's only a babe, Luca, still in her swaddling, but the twins must be nearly ten. I tell you this because it's been fifteen years. We've been gone fifteen years. You may still be gone years and years.

Levin is grown now. Lord, even. He resembles you very much, all keen blue eyes and wisps of blond curls falling in his face, but his mannerisms are alike his mothers'. He has a faint trace of your accent in his words, too. He did not recognize me. I'm told he was too young when we left to remember us properly, though Malachi supposedly does. He's a trader these days, out at sea with Logan when we arrived home. Levin didn't speak with me long, as busy all day as our lady is—was. He did tell me he'd been excited to meet us both, that his brother and Uncle Dante had told him stories of us as he'd grown, and he'd known that if we were anything at all like how they'd described then we were good men he'd rather get to know.

Dante's grown old. I last saw him hours ago, and now he is head guard rather than the slight boy fresh from the academy we knew him as. The dark circles under his eyes make me worry he hasn't had a proper rest in years, and he's thin in a way I wish I didn't recognize. Do you remember the night he snuck away to handle the O'khasian archers? You might not. I've found even so soon after to my eyes the days and nights blend together at times. I remember the great tears rolling down his face when you and I removed the arrow and picked the remains from his face. That night left a scar on either cheek, rough ones shaped like starbursts or comets. The shape far-off lights make in the night when you squint just right. He felt so small in the cradle of my arms then. He's of a height with me now, standing eye to eye.

We missed their entire lives in the Matron's realm. Gone in a blink. Our boys, our brother, our friends, they have all moved past us. Irony of irony, they've sent us off into the Matron's embrace already, Sir Garroth Ro'Meave. Buried us and moved on.

Because of your actions, we have missed the whole of their lives, the lives we could have shared with them. Should have. All for what? For a man you hadn't seen in at least a decade, one you no longer knew at all?

Everything has changed because of what you did, you ass. I should tell you I will never forgive this deed of yours. And yet I miss you already.

I feel like the fact that Donna acted as a mother figure to Aphmau isn't talked about enough. This random girl showed up to the village she lived in, and this woman, who at the time considered herself to be all alone with no family sje claimed, took in this girl and treated her as her own daughter.

There is something about that to me that is so soft it hurts my soul, the idea that Aphmau, the reincarnation of Irene the MATRON, found a mother figure in some 'random' famer woman from a run down little town.

And Donna is not perfect by any means, and she doesn't need to be, hell she probably doesn't want to be. Aphmau could have chosen any of the older women in Phoenix Drop, but out of all of them was Donna, a rough woman who wanted nothing but a husband who looked good and would take care of her. She chose to look after Aphmau, to be a mother figure for this lost girl.

Maybe, in a way Donna saw a bit of herself in Aphmau. A girl lost with no mom, just trying to find her way in the world, and Donna wanted to be to Aphmau what she never had; a loving and caring mother.

Donna has always been one of my favorite characters, and she always will be. In her 'vainess' lies a deep love for her fellow citizens of Phoenix Drop, and I feel she gets over looked so often. I still like to believe that no matter what, even after those 15 years she still saw Aphmau as her first born. Even if she was never truly Aphmau's mom, and never could be in the most base sense, she still saw her, the next Lady Irene, as her little girl to protect. Maybe the fact that Aphmau never aged those 15 years nailed it in for her, that Aphmau was still her little girl, even if she never saw those young child years.

Maybe I'm being too sappy, but Donna's relationship with Aphmau makes me emotional. I adore seeing caring, loving mothers in fiction, and Donna feels like Aphmau was her world for so long, and she adore that girl like she was her own.

I love Sylvana, but it was a missed oppertunity to make Donna and Logan Aphmau's adoptive parents or something.

blue marlin dante. u know him, u love him, hes just a lil dude. fun fact abt marlin in general - when they get excited (ie on the hunt), they light up w bioluminescent cells!! im not suuuper sure on the science of it (im a historian, not a marine biologist), but i think its super neat. anyway, when dante (and the rest of his family) get emotional (excited/upset/angry), they light up too!! dante lights up blue - this is what the blue stripes on his skin are.

where dante is based on a blue marlin, gene is based on a black marlin! they're a lot bigger than blue marlin, and i thought it was fitting given that he's older and stronger (thanks shadow knightism) than dante. additionally, he lights up red instead of blue/grey - he used to light up in a similar colour to dante, but after he got shadow knight'd, his bioluminescence changed to red. its real fucking creepy when hes in combat n he lights up all blood red n scary, esp in the dark. rahh.

and finally, the lovely @xyxofspades's fish donna!! i based her design on a kahawai (i think theyre called like. sea trout or australian salmon outside of aotearoa?? idk. theyre kahawai to me n always will be). theyre pretty n turquoise n yeah the colour scheme fits donna so kahawai donna.
