Out of the Ashes: Burned Pilgrim Baptist Church to Finally Get Gospel Museum bit.ly/2AABIqp (Link in bio) On Jan, 6, 2006, workers hired for a $500,000 restoration of Chicago’s historic #PilgrimBaptistChurch accidentally set its roof on fire. As many watched — drawn physically to the block or glued to TV — scorching orange flames swallowed the interior of the renowned landmark designed in 1890 by engineer #DankmarAdler and architect #LouisSullivan; with it, priceless history. Since then, the limestone shell at 3301 S. Indiana has stood a vacant sentinel over the national #birthplaceofgospel music. But no more. “When I got the call in 2015 to come out to the church, seeing the ruins and the braces holding up its walls almost made me cry,” says #DonJackson, CEO of Chicago-based #CentralCityProductions and founder of the 32-year-old Stellar Gospel Music Awards. “As the congregation could not afford to rebuild it, they wanted to know if I had an interest in seeing what I could do with it.” On Friday, Central City will unveil plans for a $32 million #NationalMuseumofGospelMusic, expected to break ground early 2019 and open the following year in September, the month designated as Gospel Music Heritage Month under former President Barack Obama..... #ChicagoChronicles http://ift.tt/2iF7qZ8

Spring!
"In those vernal seasons of the year, when the air is calm and pleasant, it were an injury and sullenness against Nature not to go out, and see her riches, and partake in her rejoicing with heaven and earth." - Milton [1644]
"The Night is the mother of the Day, The Winter of the Spring, And ever upon the old Decay The greenest mosses cling." - John Greenleaf Whittier
Yes, as one comedian said on Twitter and I paraphrase: "The first day of spring was remarkably like the last day of winter." But winter is now over and we wait for the proof that spring has indeed arrived. Here's one of my most popular webcasts called Transformation.

Beginnings
"The only thing which is not purely mechanical about falling in love is its beginning. Although all those who fall in love do so in the same way, not all fall in love for the same reason. There is no single quality which is universally loved." - Jose Ortega y Gasset
