21: What snacks do you usually get at the theater?Popcorn with butter and white cheddar popcorn. Always.

22: What’s an underrated video game/ movie/ show you love and think it needs more recognition?Hmm, this is a hard one! I'm not sure if this is really underrated, but Heroes of Might and Magic. I started playing it from the first game and have always enjoyed it, but I've only met one other person who plays it. It's awesome if you like fantasy and strategy games.

19. Do you read porn or does it make you uncomfortable? I definitely do read it. Like 80% of the fics I end up reading contain at least one sex scene (there’s usually always more than one) and yeah they’re great. Yay sex!

25. Any kinks that you’d love to try in real life? More than one haha! Probably start small with some handcuffs or something?

31. Do you read AUs? I do! There’s a lot of college AUs out there and I really get into them if they’re well written. If its football captain Louis I’m 100% there. Or any kind of cocky/sassy Louis :)

32. Favorite AU tropes? College, for one. I also really like baker!Harry (not very original but what can I say RNTM is AMAZING), I read a tribal kind of alpha/omega fic that was sooooo good! (link), any kind of royalty!Louis (Swim in the Smoke is in my top 3), ones where either Harry or Louis are big CEOs and the other works under them, coffee shop AUs can be really good depending on how predicable they are. I’d really like to read some merman/sailor fics! I’ve read Drowning in Your Eyes and I wish it was longer)

33. Least favorite AU tropes? Nerdy (Marcel) Harry, badboy/innocent, multiverse... that’s all I can think of right now, I feel like there’s more

Harry cuts Liam off, “No, no. It’s fine. I’ll go deal with this.” He huffs out a long sigh as he walks towards the sliding glass door. Louis hunches over the railing, staring off into the distance as he rolls his cigarette back and forth between his fingers. Harry pauses with one hand on the door handle, looks down and takes one deep breath in before sliding it open. Louis looks casually over his shoulder then drops his head, shaking it when he sees it’s Harry who is stepping outside.

“Can I join you?”

“It’s a free country, as they say,” Louis shrugs. “Can’t stop you, mate,” He takes a long drag and blows it off into the distance, not making any effort for further conversation.

“Yeah, but—” Harry steps cautiously, “Is this okay?”

“It’s whatever. Come out if you’re coming out, then.” Harry chuckles to himself. “What? What did I say?”

“Nothing,” Harry waves it off. “It’s just-Y’know, ‘come out, if you’re coming out’.” He shrugs with an awkward, lopsided grin.

“Oh, fucking hell, Harry.” Louis shakes his head as he flicks his cigarette. “You’re ridiculous.”

“What?” Harry holds his hands up. “S’kinda funny!” He argues. Louis rolls his eyes.

Louis holds out his pack of cigarettes to offer one. Harry looks at him, confused.

“I don’t smoke.”

“Yeah, but you said ‘join me’, so I didn’t know if that’s what you meant, or--”

“No! I just meant join you outside, you wanker.”

“Well, I don’t know? Maybe you like to smoke these days. I’m certainly not one to judge. Whatcha out here for, then?” Louis asks, growing impatient.

“I just — I- I just wanted to talk? Clear the air. I dunno. You’ve got your head up your arse about something with me and I don’t know what it is I did, but something’s wrong.”

“Nothing’s wrong, Haz,” Louis insists.

“You’re a shit liar.”

“What’s up your arse then?”

“Excuse me?”

“Oh, you’ve just been keen on pointing out my whereabouts last night, is all. With a right surly attitude about it, too.”

“No, I haven’t.”

“Oh no? Then what was that crack then? Do you have an issue with me going out?”

“No,” Harry crosses his arms in front of him, shaking his head. “Why would I? We’re mates. Go out, live your life. Moving forward, right? That’s what this is, yeah?”

“Yup,” Louis responds, tight-lipped. “Mates, moving forward.”

“So then why are you acting so distant, treating me like a stranger? ‘Ooh, maybe you like to smoke these days’,” He mocks in Louis’ thick Doncaster brogue. “Come on, Lou, when have I ever smoked? Like ever? Don’t be a dickhead.”

“Yeah, well, proper mates don’t lie to each other for four years, do they?”

“Lou,” Harry drops his shoulders. “I wasn’t lying to you.”

“Well, you weren’t telling me the truth, either, were you?” Harry stares at Louis, mouth agape. “Forget it. I’m not getting into this with you here.” He turns away and leans his elbows on the railing, looking out into the distance.

“Seriously?” Harry throws his hands up. “You throw that out there, then say you’re not getting into it. What the fuck, Lou! Make up your bloody mind. Ughhh!” Harry huffs, turning his back in the opposite direction. He turns around abruptly. “Fine, then. What do you want to get into? Want to just have a chat like mates do, since we’re moving forward and all, yeah? How about that? So, bro… Get any good action last night?”

“Oh, come off it,” Louis scoffs and spins around to face Harry.

“No,” Harry persists, stepping closer. “We’re bro’s. We can do this. Come on. Let’s hear it. Didja get some nice pussy? Mouthful of some good dick? What?” He says with a smug grin.

“We’re not talking about this,” Louis scowls.

“Oooh, that good, huh?”

“No. It wasn’t actually,” Louis answers honestly before he can stop himself. Harry’s eyes turn to stone at Louis’ slip-up, the shock from hearing this truth revealed turning to visible rage and Louis does his best to dig himself out of this. “You know what, no. We’re not doing this. I’m not doing this with you!”

“Will it help if I go first? Tell you about the last time I got some great dick?” Harry manhandles himself as he snarls, “Hmm? I’ll give you a hint, it wasn’t you.”

“You know those are bad luck, don’t you?” A voice comes out of the darkness the cat had retreated to. For a moment, Harry’s convinced that the cat must’ve spoken from the darkness with that thick accent, but then a man emerges from the darkness with the same cat balanced on his shoulder. There’s something familiar about him that Harry can’t place, even though he’s sure he’s never met this man in his life.

The man’s blue eyes drill into Harry’s, the only bright colour in the dim light of the shop. “Don’t you?” He repeats, his gaze flicking toward the oracle boards Harry had nearly touched. “Besides,” the man goes on, tucking his hands into the pocket of the bulky hoodie he’s wearing, despite the warmness of the day outside. The action makes Harry’s gaze drop to the design on the dark hoodie: a white fox being lifted into a white UFO on a forest green circle. “Most people think they’re the work of the devil.”

“I don’t.” Harry responds, reaching for the board once more. It’s more solid than he was expecting it to be, the carvings burned into the pale wood. It’s certainly a work of art, he thinks as he replaces it to the stack. “I wouldn’t use one myself, but I don’t think they’re the work of the devil.”

The man stares at him again, making Harry feel like the man’s trying to bore his way under Harry’s skin, see into Harry’s soul. He meets the man’s gaze steadily, wondering what the man’s looking for from him. After a few more minutes of silence between them, broken only by the sound of low purring from the cat balanced on the man’s shoulder, the man snorts.

“You’re that travel writer staying at Liam’s.” The man reaches up to scratch the cat’s chin, turning his attention to the animal. “I saw your van pull in yesterday.”

“You saw my....” Harry begins before stopping when it clicks why this man looks familiar. “That was you going onto the moors.” At the word ‘moors’, the man’s blue eyes flick toward Harry’s face before back to the cat once more. “The couple of people I asked about it just said I must’ve seen a ghost.”

The man snorts before bursting out laughing. “Of course they did. Bet they also told you this shop was strange.”

Niall shakes his head and shrugs, “I told you to ask any other mechanic in town but you didn’t listen to me.”

“Well, I didn’t think he would fucking say that now did I, Niall?”

“Louis,” Paige rests a manicured hand on his shoulder, “So, you’re saying you still wouldn’t hit it?”

“My ex?” She nods. “Yeah, I’d still hit that. Except this time it would be with a car or a baseball bat.”

Suddenly, Niall spits out his beer all over the table as Paige bursts out laughing. “Fucking ruthless, you are.” Niall runs a hand through his styled hair.

Five Favs of 2020

1) Three Days in February: Could I truly pick any other? This wee sleeper cell  (yes, the pun is intended) Larry brought the most amazing people into my life and made it onto four top fics of 2020 lists despite being my first fic. I spent two days sobbing my eyes out about that one. I’m quite terrible at trying to sum up my own stuff, but @hadestyles ranted at me about this one:

“The plot is so unique and the fandom has always been ginger with toying with rare tropes but you crashed in with an out of the box fic with a slow burn, hitting head to a wall angst, I will strangle you idiots level of pining, please stfu before I die laughing banter, god they’re fucking ridiculous and relatable characters and then the mystery!!! There’s also the stifling sexual tension...at one point I had the urge to just throw them in a room and make them fuck it out. And YOU COULD WRITE IT BUT STEPHEN KING COULDN’T WRITE CH 13.”

I’m also still finding out that half the things I put in here as part of the story have actually happened in some form or another!? I’m mildly concerned about that.

Everyone who has given this beautiful darling a chance, you have my undying gratitude and likely a lot of tears and snot on your shoulder now from my overwhelmed wailing. But with luck, you were also too busy snorting out so much laughter to notice!

B) Event Horizon: This one is my writing style at it’s most unrestrained. It’s only 4k because it’s so intense even I couldn’t handle more than that. Not only that, but I put a massive plot twist in this one that as far as I know got everyone!!! \o/

I love magical realism and messing with tropes, so this one flips the soulmate trope on its head while still having a happy ending. I’m quite proud of that. As @harryanthus described it: “Along with a soulmate you gain powers that you have no control over and no one teaches you how because it’s different for everyone and when you find someone who is supposed to stay by your side and help you face it, you just depend on them. In the thrill of being in a relationship healthy boundaries get blurred and it is hard to admit that you need HELP, so H and L admitting that they cannot do it alone and need help is brave.”

I’d love to see the idea turned into a full feature-length fic too. Not necessarily my universe, but the idea! Any takers? 👀

III) Christmas Idiots : Wrote this one on a whim for the 1DChristmasFest and almost scrapped it too! It has my brand of action in it, but it’s also the softest and fluffiest thing I’ve written to date. My favorite about this one is that I wanted to create a fic you could curl up with in front of a fire all cozy and just enjoy the winter feelz. From what I can tell, I’ve succeeded in that! I also absolutely love that everyone calls it Christmas Idiots, because that isn’t even the official title! 🤣

Then) Fractured: Officially the first fest for me, ToT! Only 666 words, if you’ve read and seen the word count on TDIF, you’ll see why that’s such an accomplishment. It was my first foray into Louis’s POV and I managed to pack so many clues and emotions into this one and I’m just super proud of how it turned out.

Finally) Interlude: One Night In March : This is the closest to a complete PWP I’ve come. All my fics straddle fine lines ( 😉 ) and this one is no different. Even this one has clues and twists because all is not what it seems and that makes me so happy!
