Og AlbeCale is Stress Baker Prince x Sweet-Toothed Picky Eater Count Son.
Only that the picky eater part is probably only a part taste, a bigger part an act, and other part the fabulous effect of his brain saying that anything tastes like ashes when he feels bad.
(Because my brain also does that and eating sometimes sucks and sweets are the only thing that tastes normal.)
Alberu at some point catches up on this and asks him to join him to eat with him while he does work, or have small private picnics together so he doesn't have to act and because Cale seems happier when he has good company.

Alberu Being Cale's Twitter
Had a wonderful conversation with my friends over discord
We've reached the brilliant conclusion that Alberu is basically Cale's Twitter moderator 😂
Cale speaking to the crowd that one time after his speech got interrupted in Part 2 Chapter 211?? That was basically Cale making a Twitter post without his mod's premission
It went something like this:
Cale's Twitter Post:
[Everything's fine. Just fighting people from other dimensions. Don't worry about it.]
[Post went viral with over 10,000 comments and 5.6M likes in less than 24 hours]
Alberu: CALE WHY DID YOU POST THAT Cale: Well you told me to reassure them! Alberu: NO, I MEANT I WOULD HANDLE IT Cale: Should I delete the post...? Alberu: NO YOU IDIOT IT'S TOO LATE, IT'S GONNA GET MORE TRACTION THAT WAY

The Kidnapped Wife
[Authors Note]: Look! I updated again! Not my main muse, but I finally got a good idea for this one. Hope you all like this one! This request in back from June. PS. As you can see I don't have my iconic title. that's because of the limit in characters you can have per post. I hate it :D.

»»►Getting kidnapped is something that would definitely happen to us, because, you know…we’re the wife of the most powerful man in existence.
»»►How did we get kidnapped? Oh, I don’t know…maybe it was because of the temptation of FOOD?
»»►Seriously, out of all the things they could have bribed you with, it had to be food? So uncouth.
Tumblr media
“What do you mean [Name]’s been kidnapped?”
That was the first question Cale asked when he was informed his wife had been kidnapped.
Yes, you read correctly. You have been kidnapped.
And no, you did not take a nap. You’re no kid. I mean that bad people abducted you to an unknown place, far away from any village–hell, far away from any living soul.
“I received a letter from the letter’s boy under your name, Master Cale. When I grabbed it, I smelled the faint traces of poison coming from within it,” Ron explained.
There’s poison in this…?! Cale yelled in his mind, and let go of the paper instantly.
The butler smiled sinisterly, amused at Cale's actions of dropping the letter at the mention of poison. “So, to secure your wellbeing, I decided to open it and see if it was life threatening. But you needn’t worry, Master Cale. The letter only had a small amount of poison in it. It would only take effect if you were to hold it for a longer period of time.”
Bullsh-t. You knew it had poison, and didn’t bother warning me about it, you creepy old man.
“Right… Well, thank you for taking my health and well-being into consideration, Ron.”
“You are very welcomed, young master.” Bastard.
Cale turned his body to look outside the window. “Anything else regarding her?”
“Unfortunately, these foxes were more cunning than this old fool could have anticipated. They left no trace of their presence behind for us to possibly find.”
“...” Cale looked out where the children were playing, unaware of their ‘mother’s’ disappearance. “Call for Rosalyn and Raon. We need their magic for this, also…” he looked back at Ron, “get the crystal.” Ron’s smile widened. “We’re calling the imperial family. This could very well be an attack on the kingdom.”
Grunts and pants are the only sounds heard in a room turned upside-down from battling.
“You B-tch!” a man yelled.
“You’re calling me unpleasant?” The man went flying to the wall behind him at full speed. “Me?”
“Ah!” Another goon charged at you from the opposite side. You blocked it by grabbing his hand, going underneath, you punched him in the stomach. “Agh..!”
“Screaming your attack is very ineffective. Weren't you lot professionals?” You saw a small glimpse of the shining of a gun's metal. With quick reflexes, you throw one of the limited pieces of furniture from the palace you had been held hostage and threw it at him, rendering him immobile. “Cute try, but not good enough.”
You stood in the middle of the room full of bodies of men laying there in the ground either whining or crying out of pain. All this would have been avoided if they just decided to negotiate with you.
“Poor souls…”
“HAHAHAHAHA!” static cackling came from a ball on a table. It belongs to none other than the crown prince.
Cale looked at the prince like he had lost his mind. “...Why are you laughing?” Alberu looked up and stared at him through the crystal ball. Cale did not like that.
“Isn't it obvious?” He smirked, “clearly I think all of this is hilarious.”
Well no sh-t. Cale’s expression began to sour.
“Now, now, master Cale. Don’t look so distraught, [Name] is completely fine. In fact, I think she’s doing better than even I could have imagined,” he picture you beating the crap out of the kidnappers, much to his pleasure.
“Is that so…” Cale wanted to punch Alberu in the face. He just wanted to wipe that smirk off his mouth, even if it is a crime to do so.
“Master Cale, if you would allow me?” Ron approached his master from the other side of the table.
“What is it, Ron?” Cale was as irked as he could be.
“I agree with the crowned prince,” Cale looked betrayed at Ron’s agreement on the situation. “Master Cale, [Name] is a talented individual. Surely, you should put some trust in her abilities.
“I’m also in support of this, [Name]’s prowess is no joke. She’ll make it home safe on her own,” Rosalyn commented.
“What the humans are saying is true,” Raon landed on Cale’s lap. “You can trust the Great Raon Miru’s judgment!”
“...” Cale closed his eyes. With all of this faith in you, he can’t ignore it.
“Fine.” He glared at Alberu. “But if she isn’t here by sunset, I'm sending Choi Han and Raon to get her.”
“That’s fine by me!”
With that, the call ended, and Alberu couldn’t stop from giggling at Cale’s worriedness for you.
“Ah… [Name], you’ve gotten yourself a worrywart as a husband.”
The sun had gone down a while ago, the birds went to rest, and the children had all gone to sleep on your shared bed. Yet, there was still no sign of you anywhere in sight.
Cale paced back and forth in the balcony, he did not enjoy worrying about someone's safety, much less yours.
“Master Cale.”
“Huh? Oh...Choi Han. Has there been any news?” He looked down and shook his head slowly. “I see… It’s getting late, you should head to sleep.”
“But, master Cale, who will–”
“I will.”
“...” Choi Han wanted to protest, yet he remained silent. He knew better than to argue with a stubborn man. “Yes, sir…” He left Cale with himself.
Hearing a click from the door, Cale let out a frustrated sigh and scratched his head, annoyed at the situation at hand.
“...Where are you [Name]?” he whispered.
“I was gone for a day, and you missed me that much?”
“!” Cale twisted his body and faced the person that had spoken to him.
And it was none other than his lovely wife.
“Hi, Bo,” You smiled sweetly. “How are you?”
Cale sighted for what seemed like the 100th time this day. Only this time, it was out of relief. “I’m fine…” he said with a small smile.
“I’m glad…” You leaned and gave him a kiss on the check.
“Only there..?”
“Well, yes. I’m extremely hungry right now, and I want to eat,” with perfect timing, your stomach growled loudly.
“...” Cale’s eyebrow twitched at your response. He motioned his hand to look like a knife, and karate-chopped you in the head.
“OW–”
“I’ll go get Beacrox to prepare something for you. Wait here,” opening the door, he pointed at you. “And don’t. Move.” You giggled.
“Eye, eye, captain.”
With an approving nod he left in search of your meal.

Things are hectic. War is ongoing. Everyone is on their toes. Commander Cale Henituse is nowhere to be seen. Roan Kingdom’s Crown Prince Alberu Crossman is in a state of shock.
In short, things are chaotic.
However, it doesn’t look like that on the outside as most don’t have an idea what’s going on. Only very trusted people know just how everything is on the verge of being in shambles.
“I’m sure you were shocked your highness. Please forgive him. He has this terrible habit of throwing fast ones at random times.”
That was the first thing you said to Alberu as you entered his tent. The golden-haired man was already busy as it was. Now he has to cover and fill up Cale’s missing presence.
“I think I’m getting used to it now.”
You let out a short laugh at his response. Alberu said it with a nonchalant tone however his face conveys just how much of a headache Cale brings him. But it wouldn’t be Cale if he didn’t bring a headache.
“At least eat while you work your highness.”
Pushing the cart closer to where the crown prince is, you presented the foods cooked for today. On the plate, there’s a medium rare steak paired with some vegetables like asparagus, mashed potatoes, and others. It’s a simple meal, but it has all the nutrients and protein one would need.
“Did you help cook this? You were fighting earlier you should’ve just rested.”
“It's not a bother at all Your Highness. Seeing everyone energetic is enough to make me energized as well.”
You smiled at Alberu as he started eating. Humming in approval at your cooking.
“When are you going to visit Cale?”
Alberu stopped eating for a second to ask you a second. You stayed silent at his question, deeply pondering about it.
On one hand, you wanted to visit him and check how the children and he is doing. On the other hand, you are still needed in the Gorge of Death. Especially since the others are gone. Your complicated thoughts did not go unnoticed by the quarter elf. He can easily tell just how worried you are for your significant other but also thinking of your responsibilities.
“Just go.”
“But Your Highness as Cale’s Deputy Commander–”
“Are you going against the word of the crown?”
That made you shut up. However, you were still hesitant. Cale’s absence already puts so much on Alberu’s plate. His responsibilities will overflow if you go away too.
“It’ll be fine. Just make sure to come back quickly. While you’re at it tell that punk to get well fast too.”
Alberu waved his hands. Telling you to go now, leaving no room for argument.
“I… Thank you, your highness.”
Soon enough you are inside Hope and Adventure Loving Inn. Specifically, you were inside Beacrox’s kitchen making sweet treats for everyone.
Just outside the kitchen the staff, the previous mountain bandits, are whispering among themselves. They’ve never seen anyone freely enter the chef’s territory so this is a shock for everyone.
“Thanks for letting me bake Beacrox! Take this portion and share it among yourself and the other staff.”
You smiled at the tall man with him only responding with a bow of gratitude. As you go out of the kitchen you see everyone acting a bit weird. It was so obvious they were trying to look busy while eavesdropping. One of them was even feather-dusting another employee’s face.
“You’re here nya!”
“We missed you nya!”
On and Hong greeted you respectively as Ron guided you upstairs. Indeed, you haven’t seen them since the opening of the inn. You said you were going to visit but things got delayed because of everything that happened.
“I missed you too. Now go share this among yourselves. Make sure to leave some for your youngest brother.”
You hugged the two for a bit before asking Ron to show you where Cale was. As he showed you the way you reluctantly let the two children go. Promising to play with them more later.
“I must warn you. The sight inside is unsightly.”
The servant warned you before opening the door. Sure enough, it was. The first thing that caught your attention was the foul stench of blood.
Speaking of blood, Cale was super bloody. He keeps vomiting blood like a water pipe with a leak.
“Oh my…”
You unconsciously said. The two heads lying on the bed turn to you. With Raon’s expression brightening up.
“You visited!”
“Well, I did promise to visit your siblings.”
Smiling, you welcomed the toddler into a warm embrace. Behind you, Ron excused himself to give the three of you privacy.
Cough!
A certain redhead deliberately coughed out blood louder than before. Clearly unsatisfied at you saying that you came to visit the children.
“Of course, I came to visit you too.”
You laughed, walking towards the bed to give your significant other a kiss on the forehead. The bed dips as you sit down on it, with Raon still in your arms.
“I take it that you successfully got the water ancient power? All this blood must be from your plate fixing itself then.”
One of your hands was stroking Cale’s hand while the other one fed Raon the singular cookie you had brought with you inside the room.
Cale’s eyes looked at you. Probably examining if you were hurt somewhere while being away from him. He then frowned as he saw you feeding the chubby dragon. Your gaze travels to where he seems to be looking and the jealousy makes you laugh.
“Yes, I made it. Yes, there’s still some left. Yes, I already prepared some greasy food to cook so you eat later after you’re well. No, I will not stop feeding Raon. Don’t be greedy, you already have most of my attention.”
The commander’s frown etched deeper in his face as you said the last part. His gaze seems to be asking you if you’re really concerned about his well-being.
“Of course I am.”
You chuckled.
“I wouldn’t left the Gorge of Death if I wasn’t silly.”
Pushing his hair back a little, you gave his forehead another kiss. Reassuring him that you didn’t just go for the children.
Later on, when Cale was feeling much better he asked you if you only got together with him so that the kids would favour you.
“Silly man, I don’t need to be with you for the kids to love me.”
“That’s right nya!”
“Certainly nya.”
“I’ll like my human’s human even if you aren’t together!”
The defeated Cale could only click his tongue in annoyance.

Another key moment that I was too caught up in to blog about was when Cale and Choi Han met after Choi Han received the records from Choi Jung Soo.
We did kind of suspect it was coming, given Cale heard that Choi Han had collapsed after saying something about Choi Jung Soo - and at the time he seemed fairly calm about the prospect? His attitude seemed to be 'Choi Han might figure things out and be upset with me, but at least he's alive. We can deal with it so long as he's alive.'
And then there he is, burning up a lake of dead mana during a major fight, when Raon reports that Choi Han woke up...
Woke up crying, shouting about 'Kim Rok Soo', and immediately headed for Cale.
I guess first of all - what an amazing way to get one of Cale's closest compatriots to understand some of Cale's secrets. And history.
We all know Cale wasn't going to say shit, and his friends have seen enough to trust him even though they can tell Cale keeps a lot to himself, but we now have a solid reason (Choi Jung Soo passing along his ability, which required the records/memories) for at least one of them to know more. (With Alberu learning more later, and I suspect others eventually learning too).
This signifies yet another major shift in their relationship. One where Choi Han is much more of a friend than the subordinate he acted as initially. Not that he stops acting as Cale's knight, but there's a closeness that wasn't really there before. (All of which becomes even more obvious with Cale, Choi Han, and Alberu during the sealed god's test - and they are an amazing trio there! It was so fun starting my reread and remembering where they began, because they grow so close over the course of the story).
We also see some of what Choi Han saw, and I think this is the first time we really got an outside perspective of who Kim Rok Soo was before the transmigration.
Not just that, but hints of what Kim Rok Soo, Choi Jung Soo, and Lee Soo Hyuk were like before their tragic fight against the unranked monster.
We see how Kim Rok Soo supported the team with information, how he grabbed a metal board to block an attack on Choi Jung Soo, and even broke an arm in the process. Something Cale skipped over in his own flashback to the same event.
For the first time, we can truly see how Cale only tells part of the story...
We can tell Kim Rok Soo was devastated, not that it wasn't obvious before, but Choi Jung Soo was worried about him.
We also learn that, as Choi Jung Soo put it:
He would also take this Kim Rok Soo who claimed he was going to be a slacker and put him to work. If he left this punk to be a slacker, he was bound to go cause trouble somewhere. He and the team leader discussed making him farm with them, so that they won’t have to go save his ass.
Choi Han himself indicates that he figured out that Cale was Kim Rok Soo partly because they acted exactly the same.
And really, what sorts of things did Kim Rok Soo get up to, that they think he's a loose canon like that?
So team leader Kim Rok Soo probably was also constantly making trouble... Ah, the stories Team 1 could probably tell.
We have all that history, have Choi Han rushing to meet Cale on the battlefield...
And then we have one of the most ridiculous encounters imaginable.
Cale seems awkward and unsure on a way I don't think we've ever seen before. He's stuttering and worrying about things that seem kind of more a distraction than real concerns, and is avoiding his gaze (though he did make an opening for Choi Han in the wall of fire he set up while burning the dead mana, so he wasn't exactly avoiding Choi Han).
We also see how Cale is closely observing Choi Han for signs of anger, how he focuses on Choi Han's unthinking and instinctual touching of his sword which - is probably because of his traumatic childhood? We can see some of what Choi Han was thinking and knew he wasn't even considering hurting Cale, but Cale was obviously concerned about that).
And in the midst of all this. In the midst of this big dramatic moment, we have Raon commenting on how weird their being and - perhaps the most amusing part - the cheapskate ancient power still purifying the dead mana.
Yes, cheapskate. Good job. Keep on purifying that dead mana while Cale and Choi Han have their big moment.
Oh, whoops. I guess a major battle isn't really the time or place for that. Enter Dorph the Lion King, who won't even let them finish their conversation.
This whole encounter is equally moving and hilarious, really. And it's so nice that Cale finally has someone who really knows him.

Can I just say I once thought Alberu and Rosalyn would get married. No, I do not ship them. In fact, this made me almost quit reading the novel 😭😭. I was wrong and I am so happy.
I forget specifics because it was so long ago but it was when the gang is at this library (something something bud illis and mercenaries.) Cale is finally revealing Record. I believe they were looking for more information on Ancient powers but basically Cale is hot, he's sweaty and then they call the Crown Prince.
And during the call, Alberu's thoughts go to '…and I'm never getting married'. I wrote this in my bookmarks: "You saw Cale hot and sweaty and your thoughts went to marriage??". That's not important to the point, just thought I should mention it. But the interesting thing is, during the call, even I don't remember what it was but Alberu and Rosalyn talk about something and something just clicked in my brain.
As it point, tcf to me was not that special YET and it was just another fantasy 1000+ chapter brainrot like the cultivation novels I read, so romance wasnt something I would be surprised at. Plus, I always tried to guess which characters were getting set up to be together.
Something about Alberu and Rosalyn's conversation made me IMMEDIATELY assume that they were an endgame couple. I hated that. 'THEY DO NOT LOOK GOOD TOGETHER'. It actually made me dislike them both a little as characters (I changed my mind don't worry). Especially since it didn't make sense. Rosalyn ran away from royalty to be a mage, why the hell would she be queen of Roan?
But the way they actually did look like a generic couple is what made me dislike it. They did look like a generic fantasy endgame couple but Rosalyn x Alberu doesn't make sense (sorry to any shippers out there if there are). Plus something about the way marriage was mentioned and he had that conversation with Rosalyn, it felt like it was foreshadowing something and I guess I overthought it.
I was right, it didn't make sense, why the hell was I thinking that? When I tell you I SCREAMED and rolled my eyes everytime they interacted afterwards. I still loved them but they do not belong together.
What 'confirmed' it for me was when Cale, Raon and Rosalyn and some other people go to Alberu, eat some cookies after that library thing. Alberu mentions something about his childhood and Rosalyn thinks about how lonely he must've been and how hard it probably was. I didn't get to appreciate this sweet moment cause I was like "NOOOOOOOOOOO"
I got over it as some time passed but I still believed it would happen lol. I started to get comfortable with interacting with the fandom around chapters 600+. That's when I realized Rosalberu (cute ship name tho) isn't a thing in the fandom and there's no fanfics of it. Nothing's happened in hundreds of chapters and no one is talking about them as a couple.
For 600+ chapters, I thought Rosalyn and Alberu would get married. Once again, I'm sorry if this offends the 12 people who ship this, just thought it was funny how I genuinely believed it would be canon

Cale: Maybe I do need to take a rest..
Alberu: Cale, you passed that a couple days ago. How about you get someone to put you into a medically induced coma for a week or two? We'll wake you up, don't worry.
The others, grumbling: IF he can wake up that is.

TCF Prompt 27
TBOAH AU - OG Cale and OG Archie
Cale Henituse died by the hands of the WS. In one universe he made a deal and exchanged souls with one Kim Rok Soo. In this one, instead of making a deal, GoD sends him to another timeline to be able to rest and not have to worry about anything ARM or WS related. In this world, he regressed to when he was 16(and was in the process of escaping the Empire. Perhaps he had been kidnapped? Was his family ok and why did he have ancient powers, including his moms??).
Somewhere along the way, he ends up running into Archie, who also like him, was on the run and had his soul sent to this world after he was killed(and oh, it was a horrifying death. turning blood into pure mana burning him from the inside out. Who knew a specific weapon was made just to take him down. Witira fully snapped after witnessing her last family members/commanders death/. She was so scary, that even the WS didn't enter those waters for a couple years).
Eventually, they learn that they had been considered missing(and MIA in Archie's case). Both had been captured 2 years prior and experimented on at some point during that time(Archie had terrible scars on his back, along with part of his phin missing in his whale form he had also had patches that showed some of his hide had been taken at some point. Just wait until Cale found out who on the black market bought whale hide...if Shickler didn't get to them first anyway. Cale had Ancient Powers forced upon his very thin plate. Luckily he and Archie had come across a water power that settled his plate, but he was will very weak. Both their immune systems were gone too.)
A couple months later, they run into the Molans. And all hell breaks loose.
----
Overprotective Henituse's/allies/Molans
Overprotective Whales
Archie and Cale whump
No Raon and kids(they either don't exist in this universe or live happily with their families)
Cale had acted as trash, but him getting captured and missing at 14 caused everyone to find out the truth, Cale is disappointed(Archie finds it hilarious)
Archie went missing on a mission(which was later found out caused by a mole/traitor). The whale's missed their chaotic commander. Especially his two childhood friends the royals Witira and Paseton.(Shickler sees him as his bratty kid too)
In tboah timeline, Cale and Archie teamed up on certain missions and to cause chaos. They got along surprisingly well after their first meeting, drove the heroes*cough Choi Han cough* mad.
In this AU, Cale and Rosaly are cousins. Choi Han is a knight protecting Crown Prince Alberu. They all become allies/friends eventually.
Archie became friends with Witira and Paseton when they were kids. Archie is a orphan, and does not get along with the other killer whales(some of the Whales are divided up into different tribes, the killer whales are not loyal to Shickler and do not get along with most other whales. They discarded and harmed Archie when he formed a friendship and later loyalty with Shickler's kids, His parents are unknown, but there are rumors his mother is a Lunar Whale and he is a half blood like Paseton..and that was why he was captured/betrayed in the first place).
The Lunar Whales were said to be able to swim amongst the stars. Blessed by the goddess of the moon, they are strong in mana, and were thought to be the best healers in the world, even more than those chosen by the sun god. None have been seen is so long they are thought to be nothing but a fairy tale. but perhaps it isn't?
The Molan family was never attacked and are still going strong. They and the Thames family have worked together for centuries, and Jour asked them to look after her son after she she passed away. They failed when he was captured, but Ron has made it his duty to insure he and his family never fail Cale again.
The Empire is the main 'enemy' but fighting is not the main plot. it's mostly just Cale and Archie learning to heal and rest, etc.
Cale and Archie still cause too much chaos tho. And lots of misunderstandings!
no romance, just lots of family feels, healing and shenanigan's.

....pls, youre the only one i can rely on, was there a clear progressive difference for Alberu Crossman's characterization between earlier chapter and after the war with white star? thank u;v;
Hm, good question! Alberu's characterization is tricky, because it's very subtle. I consider it a steady slope, with several "critical" moments worth noticing.
The moment when Cale gave him Dragon's dead mana was obviously one of those points. Others could be the time Alberu personally fought the White Star, or that time he used Taerang to create light with the Sun God's power. Out of them all, the most important moment would obviously be the time he took Cale underneath the royal library to show him the rock with the "curse of the Crossman Family".
Why do I think it;s the most important, aside from being a major plot-relevant reveal? (Also the importance of the development for Cale and Alberu's friendship, but that's a whole other topic so I won't dive into that too much.) Well, it shows that throughout the whole series, despite the show of confidence he was putting, Albreru was filled with doubt. I'm not 100% sure he knew about the "curse" since the start of the novel (I'm using quotation marks because I don't believe it was a real thing, or not in the sense the Crossman family believed it; I think the Angelina was simply keeping an eye on them and wrote that thing to scare them off from being bad kings, when the rock was really just a "package" with a secret weapon inside). Alberu could have been told about it sometime in the middle of the story, after he cemented his position a the heir. But that's beside the point; Alberu had this whole act where he acted like he was totally confident he would and should become the ruler. But that was all a front.
He wished to become the king because he wanted to help people; the Dark Elves most of all. Did he believe himself worthy of it? Maybe a bit, he does have a bit of an ego haha. ...But definitely not completely. His insecurities become clear once we take a closer look.
He did not have flattering thoughts about his own race – he knew his people were considered "dirty" in the eyes of others. He was worried he wouldn't be able to have relationships because of his secrets (remember how he kept Choi Han at arm's length in the "Birth of a Hero" the whole time). Most of all, he was scared that he was not actually worthy of the throne. The moment he showed that vulnerability to Cale shows his growth the most, because I'm convinced that the Crown Prince at the beginning would NEVER have done that. And once Cale validates him and tells him upfront that he should be the king, Alberu sheds that doubt and allows himself to "step in".
Notice how most of the moments where Alberu personally takes action happened after that point. The fight with the White Star, the Earth 2 arc when Alberu was in charge of the army in Cale's absence, the Puzzle City battle. While not completely free just yet – I don't believe that will happen until his identity as a quarter Dark Elf gets revealed and the whole nation accepts him as their ruler despite his status – I had the feeling that Alberu "broke the final chains" that were holding him back mentally. He finally felt like he could take action and "become one of the main characters", you know?
Now, after all that, back to your original question. "Was there a clear progressive difference for Alberu Crossman's characterization between earlier chapters and after the war with the White Star?" I think the main thing is the confidence. Second would be how much support Alberu got, but I don't think that really counts as "characterization" and more of a "situation".
As for his "relationships with other characters"; we see that Alberu befriended more than just Cale. After Cale fainted in the Empire when the White Star showed up for the first time, we see that Alberu took care of things while he was unconscious. He was casually hanging out in Cale's room (Adin's room but whatever lol) in his true form where Cale's allies could walk in at any time. Which shows how much he trusted them; either not to do so or that it would not matter if they did. (Of course Raon and Eruhaben don't really count because they're Dragons and I'm sure Alberu knew he could not hide his identity from them, but the point still stands.) Alberu begun trusting Cale's people after trusting Cale himself, and that allowed him to make real friends outside his previously tight circle of family members from his mother's side. After that scene, Alberu really starts having a lot more fun scenes with other characters, such as giving cookies to the kids or hanging out with Choi Han. Remember that one time he jokingly asked him if "he would like to die with him"? There was definitely a big difference in how much he opened up.
So sum it all up: the confidence, the trust, and the degree Alberu was taking charge and his experience as a leader, all those things steadily grew throughout the series. There were other things of course, like Alberu personally growing stronger, or him getting more casual and snarky with Cale, but most of that happened pretty early on. ...Oh and the frequency of headaches and stress levels because of Cale's shenanigans, we can't forget those 😂. And in Part 2 (no major spoilers don't worry) Alberu continues his growth in a slow but steady pace, the degree of his involvement increasing in later arcs. ...As well as his personal hobbies lol. It IS subtle, but the character development is definitely there.
...I'm not sure if that answered your question to your satisfaction, but I hope it helps! 💖

Note
i think there was a comparison of tcf and tged here but atleast in tged og lloyd's parents still notice their son is not their actual son, unlike cale's family who were glad he just simply become non trash (this was the most upsetting when i read here that arcos and marbella noticed but cale's did not or even the butlers), a non family member didn't wish or say that it was great that og lloyd was replaced by someone else even if that someone is more helpful to the county, unlike alberu who was glad that cale got replaced, and another atleast suho plans to tell the truth to lloyd's parents unlike with rok soo to cale's parents who accepted he is cale (but then again og cale did request to accept the body they are in as who they are actually are)
i feel like i got a bunch of spoilers shoved down my throat but i have no context to them so no harm done ajshdksfd
i have no idea how fair it is to compare tged to tcf, they're two different pieces of media with their own themes, plots and characters going on and different people like different things. that's fine. i just personally disliked that people kept comparing my blorbo to their blorbo to make theirs look better. i don't want to the same thing! that's not very nice!
so i'm just gonna talk about what i do know which is the way tged treated og lloyd! i've read a bunch of isekai stories and it's rare the times the og characters are taken into account or even acknowledged so i was pleasantly surprised with how much focus tged put on the fact that suho did take someone's place, he did lie to his family and he did pretend to be someone he wasn't. and he feels genuinely sorry about it. he doesn't justify it by thinking he's better than og lloyd anyway so no harm done. he genuinely wants to apologize and make it right and he wants to do it at the right moment.
and then when the people around him find out the truth, they're not,,, happy about it. they don't think it was for the best or that og lloyd got what he deserved or that they're glad for it.
javier is the closest thing we get to something like that and even then he's genuinely torn about what he should do with the information. he hated og lloyd, absolutely despised the guy's guts, but even then he's not glad that he got replaced even when he acknowledges the new lloyd is hardworking, constructive and reliable. he doesn't know where his loyalties should lie and he's "filled with anguish" as he tries to decide what to do.
it would've been very easy for bk moon to just go "yeah he doesn't care that the son of the family he swore to protect got replaced by a stranger that's been lying to him for years" like, ahem, some other people would have, but instead he took the time to acknowledge that "hey, this is a genuinely fucked up situation, there's no right answer here, anyway you slice it someone will get hurt and the only way to move forward is to minimize the damage and make amends to the people who were hurt".
which is nice to see in an isekai! even tho og lloyd was absolute human garbage the narrative didn't dismiss him as a person and instead acknowledge that while it wasn't lloyd's fault there was still a someone being hurt by the fact he possessed a body that wasn't his.
and then when his parents find out they genuinely mourn the child they lost. there's no happiness, no joy, not even relief at being rid of a constant source of worry and disappointed. they're so... sad and heartbroken about their son being gone. even while they accept lloyd as their kid, even as much as they come to love him, there is no moment where they express any kind of pleasure about him replacing og lloyd. rather you get the sensation that they wish they could've had both of them at the same time, that they wish one hadn't come at the price of the other, that they love both of them so, so much even as different as they are.
the only one who doesn't express any kind of regret or sadness about og lloyd is julian which... honestly, it's very earned. no one should be forced to mourn their abuser, which exactly what og lloyd was to julian. if julian had expressed sadness over og lloyd that would've been his right, but the fact that he never did, at least not on-screen shouldn't be held against him, considering the amount of hurt og lloyd caused him.
so yeah! i really like the way bk moon handled this aspect of the story! again, i don't know how tcf works or what happens on it and at this point i'm not really interested in knowing! i'm sure it did its own thing and that it was great too!

omgg, I've been reading your fics and they're so cool~ so, would it be possible for alberu crossman headcanons with a male reader who is also a dragon?
Alberu Crossman who said he would not get a spouse because of his identity and because he's focused on making the Roan Kingdom flourish.
Alberu Crossman who ate his words the moment he saw you. It was almost love at first sight. Sure all dragons are beautiful and majestic but there's something about you that made him unable to get you out of his thoughts.
Alberu Crossman who spent a long time debating with himself if what he really feels for you is love or just devotion. After all, he still has Dark Elf blood running through his veins and they revere your kind.
Alberu Crossman who one day finally embraced his feelings and decided to try and pursue you. It's fine if you don't feel the same way. The important thing was that he shoot his shot.
Alberu Crossman who could see and feel that you felt the same way. That you were responding to his advances, pinning him back.
Alberu Crossman who felt frustrated because you keep denying your feelings. Everyone can see that you reciprocate his feelings, so why are you so adamant about staying friends?
Alberu Crossman who was enlightened by Eruhaben about how the thing stopping you from being his is the fact that a dragon being in a romantic relationship with a human is considered taboo.
Alberu Crossman who is smart, connected the dots that the taboo had something to do with dragon half-bloods not being able to survive.
Alberu Crossman who then worked hard to make you realise that you have nothing to worry about. You're both men, you're not going to have any children. The whole foundation of why dragons and humans can't be together is useless in your case.
Alberu Crossman who's elated when you finally said yes. You're finally together. He's finally yours.
Alberu Crossman who knows most nobles does not approve of his relationship but does not care. Their main concern is the fact that he won't have any heirs and it's not like he was planning on having children in the first place.
Alberu Crossman who laughs because even though they disagree with his choice of significant other they can't say anything. Who would dare say anything to such a majestic being like yourself?
Alberu Crossman who still worries even though he knows you can handle yourself. You're a dragon for god's sake. But he can't help but worry for he loves you too much.
Alberu Crossman who spends every free time he has by your side.
Alberu Crossman who doesn't care how the day goes as long as you two are together. It could be an extravagant date that he has planned for weeks or simply lounging in his room. As long as you're with him that's the only thing that matters.
Alberu Crossman who promises to love you his whole life. Even if his lifespan is considerably shorter than yours.

FGO Transmigration AU
TBOAH/TCF Story
OG!Cale sometimes gets visions of the events of TBOAH, which includes the 20 year war. He usually sees these future events when he's dreaming in his sleep. Whether he's simply seeing the future or he regressed is up for speculation.
Unfortunately, the first few visions he gets are a bit far into the future. He never knew that Harris Village would be attacked until it was too late.
The visions/dreams of the ruined future really stressed Cale out, causing him to stay out and drink more often to clear his mind.
He hangs out at the hill where the Man-Eating Tree is because people stayed away from the area due to the rumors of the tree, allowing him a brief moment of respite away from harsh comments and whispers.
Cale meets a pair of siblings who keep warning him to stay away from the tree (even though he's making sure to keep a distance from the tree). He gives them tons of coins (not gold because giving one would paint a target on these kids' back) so they leave him alone (and buy food).
Soon after that, he meets a pair of cats whose colors are suspiciously the same as the hair of the siblings. He instantly connects the dots and just adopts them.
Here, OG!Cale adopts On and Hong.
The Soos transmigrate to TBOAH, just the outskirts of the Henituse County. They encounter Cale when he was hanging out by the Man-Eating Tree with the cats.
There was a language barrier and Cale, while justifiably suspicious of these strangers, decided to teach them the language since it seemed like they meant no harm.
Here, only Choi Jung Soo read TBOAH. He recognizes Cale as the minor villain of the first volume of the novel and found it strange when Cale didn't act like the trashy character he read. However, since the Koreans didn't want to encounter any knight that might apprehend them, being with Cale is a better option.
KRS still gets the Ancient Powers at CJS's insistence to protect himself. While Cale gets the other half of Jour's AP.
Because CJS doesn't have Record like KRS, some information and events can sometimes slip from his mind. Thankfully, this is helped by Cale's future visions.
CJS informs KRS, LSH and Cale about the events in the future. In return, Cale also reveals his own future visions.
Unfortunately, the day the Koreans transmigrate is the same day Harris Village is destroyed.
The Soos grew closer to Cale after they decided to work together. KRS, CJS and especially LSH are upset and worried whenever they see Cale, an 18-year-old, drink multiple bottles of wine in one go. It doesn't help that they knew that he began drinking when he was only 15. They vow to one day give the Count a piece of their mind over neglecting his first son.
Henituse Family and Molan Duo are very sus of these Koreans.
Cale becomes the Soos' new dongsaeng. And Cale eventually starts calling all three of them "hyung".
Lots of competition over being Cale's "best hyung". There is a similar competition among the father figures.
Cale is "Naru" because he's a more experienced actor.
Cale and KRS are the group's self-sacrificial idiots. And they are both loved by everyone of their found family and get adopted by many parental figures.
KRS adopts Raon.
Cale, KRS and Raon are tsunderes and everyone finds it endearing. They become less tsun as time passes while Cale and KRS begin to finally openly express their true selves without fear.
Hinted possible Cale harem (such as Choi Han, Alberu, Paseton, etc.). Only if you wish to see it as romantic.
Cale is drinking buddies with Taylor, Cage and Bud.
Cale's relationship with the Henituse Family is still distant, especially compared to his new family. They don't get many chances to properly talk due to the war. Though, there are promises of getting much needed discussions after everything is over.
Unfortunately, it may never happen.
During the final battle with the White Star, the leader of Arm uses a strange magic that is foreign to this world just before KRS could stab him with the bloodied branch. Cale sacrifices himself by taking the branch and pushes his hyung out of the way, stabbing the WS while getting hit by the strange magic.
A bright light blinds everyone, but KRS who is the closest to the two redheads, sees his dongsaeng give him one last smile as Cale fades into particles of light. WS's body falls for the last time, finally dead after so many years, as Cale Henituse disappears.
Everyone remained in shock over the conclusion of the battle. CJS and LSH rushed over to KRS, who still didn't respond to anyone's voices and just continued to stoically stare at the spot where his dongsaeng disappeared. For the first time in many years, a single tear fell from his eye.
Thanks to Cale, he and the Soos actually managed to hide most of their involvement from the public (which is mostly the Roan Kingdom) for the majority of their adventures, so Cale was still known as trash and the Soos' were still mysterious and unknown to others. Their involvement was only revealed when the war was nearing its end, with the Roan public viewing Cale as a reformed trash who redeemed himself by sacrificing his life for the greater good. This public perception naturally enraged his found family and even when they and most of the foreign royals tried to boost Cale's reputation, the public remained skeptical.
Meanwhile, the GoD tries to find Cale's soul. If Cale is truly dead, then GoD should have already found him. The strange magic the WS used was more akin to teleportation. He tried to check on Earth but for some reason, something is preventing him from being able to connect to Earth.
In the middle of a burning city, three individuals find an unconscious red-haired man.
He wakes up, remembering nothing but his name, "Cale".
Currently making the next part. Who should I make Cale's main Servant? In all honesty, if Cale were a Servant, I think he'd be a Pretender.

Venom + Cale = Uncertain morality and chaotic scenarios.
Rok Soo & Choi Han: ...
Ron: I think it was a bad idea that the young master was left without any kind of supervision.
Alberu: I really don't want to ask, but…did he just eat that person's head? *He questions hesitantly, watching with mild bewilderment as the huge creature obliterates everything that gets in its way*
Hans: No need to worry *He waves one of his hands, dismissing the chaos created by the symbiote and the young redhead* Today they are being especially calm.

one thing i think about a lot is cale's "i've started to think my life is a bit precious" @ goldie and alberu. the following line is something about how he sees them both flinch, but pretends to not notice.
cale is someone who refuses to die (<- a very funny sentence to type when i just found out he apparently shattered his plate AGAIN and probably did it on purpose). most (MOST) of the things he goes into and the actions he takes, he does with the confidence that he'll walk away from it (or will be carried away from it. still breathing though)
but by that point in time he's probably already pretty aware that his friends don't see it that way, and consider him to be self sacrificing. and when he says that line, he's already set on battling the white star alone so he can stab himself in the heart without his friends seeing it.
i feel like when he said "im starting to feel like my life is precious" he was attempting to throw those two off his scent. playing into their idea of him being borderline suicidal, but actually, he's okay now! he promised he wouldn't get hurt again, and he didn't, see? he's going to get better about how much danger he puts himself in, so his friends don't need to worry about him At All! :)
and then he stabbed himself in the heart

Cale can't really see right now.
Considering he just let himself get stabbed, its probably okay if he lays here for a bit longer, right?
His hair is obscuring his vision, everything is so.. blurry.
..Is it supposed to hurt this bad? Shouldn't Vitality of the Heart have fixed it by now?
'*Sob* Cale... can't.....fi..... H..rt..bad......'
He can't really focus right now either.
That's right.. Eruhaben went through with the plan. It worked, right?
..The blood loss is making his head spin. Is someone fighting? There's some screaming.
Cale tries to force himself up. There really shouldn't be this much blood coming out. He likes his blood inside his body, thank you very much.
'The world tree is a Fucking liar-'
It's alright if he's a bit upset, right?
Ew. His hair has blood in it.
At this point. Cale has managed to get on his knees and elbows, head tilted down to be mindful of the blood that definitely should not be coming out of his mouth. Is something wrong with his lungs or-
"WE TRUSTED YOU-"
Someone is screaming. They should be quiet. His head hurts. Is that Choi han?
The white star was spewing some crap about not being able to die next to him, but the radish was dying already so Cale didn't really care much.
'Thank god no one else sa-'
..He just heard Choi han. Choi han. The one screaming was definitely choi han.
Ah shit.
---
Alberu Crossman has only felt this cold in his life once. It's happening again.
Cale Henituse.
His most powerful ally, the supreme commander, the one he trusted with his secret and was met with welcoming arms.
His dongsaeng, his little brother.
...why is he not getting up?
As a bit of an afterthought, he's blocking the kitten's gaze.
There's so much blood.
Why isn't he getting up and pretending he's fine, brushing it off and looking at his family like they're weird for worrying?
..that's too much blood.
Alberu thinks that he should leave. Right now. A distant part of him has realized that he missed Raon when he was covering the kids eyes.
"..Raon let's go. Now."
The surge of magic should have been overwhelming. Although Raon is clearly angry, he's still seeing clearly enough to protect his siblings from it.
Though his mind is elsewhere, alberu thinks to himself for a moment, 'How long will that last?'
After all, Cale didn't stab himself.
---
I was bored.
I don't think they've processed the fact that Cale was stabbed by one of their own yet. (Except Choi han and Raon)
This could potentially become a really long reblog train, should I move it to its own post?
Probably.
Someone finds out Cale planned to stab himself so they tell everyone and then confiscate the root so he has to convince someone to form a plan with him (Cale is forced to agree to make this plan a last resort) anyways at the temple, everyone's watching and Cale is standing before the white star and he suddenly jumps in front of him like he's going to shield him from something and there's a loud bang and suddenly Cale and the white star have both been skewered with a long sword and Choi han and anyone who's watching heart drops and the sword has been pulled out, there's a pool of blood forming by their feet and the drips are so LOUD-
And when Choi han goes in to kill the Bastard, his sword is blocked by none other than Eruhaben who looks like he's about to break down but Eruhaben is their ally so why why WHY-
In a blinded rage Choi-han starts attacking ruthlessly not holding back at all and he's crying all the same because he's weak. The one person he swore to protect even if it cost him his life because this single person gave him a home right after he lost his second and now that person is dead.
Eruhaben wasn't there to hold raon back. Raon saw everything. That fucking TRAITOR-
---
Okay I'ma leave it at that
I had a vague scene in my head then just decided to let my fingers type
