man I really wish people would stop infantilizing Sage. she's not a dumb baby toddler that can't take care of herself, she doesn't need protecting and babysitting. it's too rare to find people who don't think of her like that

Eggman made her to protect him. that was the whole point and he said so. he leaves her/sends her out alone tons of times. he let her die for him. she's smart and capable. the definition of her name is literally to be profoundly WISE

that's what Eggman really wants. if she had actually been like some dumb baby, he wouldn't have praised her and kept her around because he'd have no gain, only loss and trouble and nothing to be proud of as she wouldn't be a reflection of his genius

relationships for him are transactional and monatary, he's a selfish egotist and a narcissist. it's all for his personal use and gain. the way she can appeal to his needs in serving him and to his ego in her being his impressive creation is why he values her and he's open about this in his memos

and then as a result this loops around to OOC depictions and misconceptions of their dynamic in fanon, as it usually involves Eggman being unnecessarily softened and Sage being infantilized

what they've actually got going on in the game is so much more interesting and I really wish there was more of it. but I guess I just gotta live by Eggman's word

Zooble up to this point just hasn't been a pleasant character most of the time for me- She swears like a sailor, is always flipping people off and being rude left and right. Not my kind of character. 💀

Now you might say "Zooble clearly has some issues going on deep down that makes her act that way" or "Zooble is mean to Caine because she doesn't like her body" In this case, I point you to what I said on that post-

The absolute double standard of saying Damian is more mature and doesn’t need to be change aged up when we have writers have him still treating Anya like if he was an 6 year old with a crush, lashing out at her and sometimes insulting her and treating her even worse, and it is worse because he should know better by then. Not to mention have him be openly ashamed of his feelings for her and have Anya still fall for a immature manchild like this, because it’s okay is not what he really thinks anyway :/

Alright, since I'm receiving a lot of asks on this subject, I want to preface this by saying that I haven't read a lot of Damianya fan fiction. The reason why in my previous asks I always go back to the manga is because I don't have that much experience in Damianya fan fictions and I don't want to seem like I have more knowledge on the subject than I actually do 😅

Also also for how many pet peeves you, me or anyone else might have it's important to remember that authors and artists do this for free and under no obligation, so I try to keep a "if you don't like it, don't read it" kinda vibe, or read it anyway if you want to explore a different interpretation, but keep in mind that it's ok if it doesn't align with what you have in mind. This is to say that I'm trying to answer these by just speculating my personal interpretation of Damian and Anya and their future, not to police anybody.

With that being said, from what I've seen a lot of aged up Damian and Anya are still teens, so I think it's ok if he's still embarrassed of his crush, because teens are awkward, so Damian has the right to be an awkward teen. Even if they're already adults a bit of "I can't believe I fell in love with you" can be funny, it's the classic "you're an idiot" "Yes but I'm YOUR idiot" situation. The same way I said I think Anya would still have a bit of childhood wonder I also think Damian might keep some tsundere-tendencies. I do agree that I'd like to see Damian stop lashing out to Anya and definitely not treating her worse, especially because I think he's already making progress in the manga, apologizing and dropping the act when other people aren't around, he still has work to do, but he's getting better. Tho I also think a bit of playful bickering is funny. It's even a recurring gag in the manga that their bickering is seen as normal, with the other kids, including Becky, Ewen and Emile, leaving them to go to class. Also when Damian thinks he has crossed the line in any way (even when he didn't mean it and it genuinely wasn't his fault, like when Anya told him she got a dog) he immediately apologies and tries to cheer her up. Like the way this kid cannot stand Anya being upset and crying is honestly so cute and funny, one of my favorite things about their dynamic. So in conclusion I think they would still bicker a bit, but never to be hurtful, because Damian can't really stand making her actually upset. But also, if a fic or a comic wants to explore a moment when one of them said something wrong that's also fine, because sometimes people say stuff they don't mean and writing about fictional characters doing the same is ok.

If you think my take is pretty lukewarm is because it is, I really don't want people to feel like they HAVE to write characters a certain way.

So between Alucard with Greta and Richter with Annette it seems like the moral of the story is that the best way to get over your trauma is to hook up with a person who mocks you for it!

Greta joked about Alucard's rape, while Annette insulted Richter's inability to use magic knowing it was tied to the trauma of seeing his mother getting murdered when he was a kid!

It's incredible how the show has no accidentally toxic relationship that isn't explicitly presented as being cute or romantic outside of Striga and Morana, who are barely characters, and maybe Olrox and Myzrak, though the former's behavior is a bit questionable at points

These guys are fans of Berserk, they've read the waterfall scene with Guts and Casca, yet they write ships like these. Never let them even a mile within Casca's general vicinity

But yeah, there is not a single relationship in both shows that is fully healthy and believable except for Striga and Morana, and I honestly wonder how come they can be genuinely loving, affectionate and respectful towards each other while no one else can. Best I can think of, the fact that they're both women means they couldn't be forced into the mold of "sassy woman insults stupid man".

When Annette is a giant piece of shit hitting Richter's insecurities where it hurts, no one in-universe questions her, because god forbid Annette's real flaws are presented as such - it's fine, Richter still loves her enough to use her memory to unlock his magic, the very thing she mocked in the first place! Lisa literally says that her husband is worse than Satan because he's real and she warns the bishop to not kill her because she knew Dracula would snap and retailate in revenge, and then it's all forgotten in the name of a cutesy ending! I think I've eviscerated the absolute dogshittery that is Lenector in S4 to last me a lifetime!

You want your characters to be assholes and monsters? Commit! Don't shy away from how miserable all of these people should be for the sake of some half-assed ship tease!

AKASAKA DOES WHAT!?!? Oooo I'm getting mad, someone hold me down (figuratively). Yeah I heard that gou/sotsu were bad but glad to see its even worse. The fact that they made satoko the villain always irked me so bad because I just can't see the ingame satoko do those things. You mean to tell me the satoko whose most violent L5 symptoms were pushing people off places and that loved her friends dearly would just start torturing them?? In my humble opinion I think she'd just give into despari very early, but it is true that i dont know the whole context.

And also a thing that annoyed me about it (and an issue I had with the first season of the og anime too, although not as bad) is how it seems to depend a lot on the gore parts. And just seeing the edits I can tell these people never got the actual meaning of higurashi, which I don't even kmow if this anime is even trying to send anymore. They just got "Oh my gosh, cute anime girls but make them murderers!!! Wow gore gore, blood and psychos ☆⌒(≧▽​° ) so kawaaaiiii". The og anime isn't as bad on this, but I do feel like it fails at sending the actual message many times. Depends a lot on the arc, like I hated how they did meakashi but I thought that onikakushi was pretty ok.

And also another thing I don't get...why? Why did ryukishii do this? I have heard that he apparently gave just an outline and other people refined the story and I hope that's true because otherwise I just don't get it. So... What even is going on with her crime? 😭 It seems as though her accomplice killed her classmates, and then she killed him? Her animosity towards Haku is kinda scary honestly, since she's usually so friendly. Its funny to imagine though, because he would not care. I nearly put a heart over "a beast unleashed" because of this, but Aimi hasn't actually done anything aggressive in linagram.

Still can't get over her design and aesthetic. I want her gender so bad. 💖 The popping balloons in her t2 MV were so cool, and it did remind me of Yuno. Can't wait to see her development in t3. 👀

After what he did to Kei, he's moved from "makes me uneasy" to "actively dislike" in my linagram tier list. Still can't get over the first half of his t2 MV that featured him with so many women. I really thought he had rizz. Turns out it was just an otome game. Its funny to think about that section of the MV being real, but only because they fell in love with an alter of his. His memory problems came from you, so now that you've learned that you're a system, what does this mean for him? 🤣 Guess I'll still headcanon him having DID.

Naomi

Her design is really cute and I do like her conflicted feelings towards her victim because things are rarely so straightforward. 🥲 Her calm demeanor but constant references of inner anger makes me nervous. Adding on to the fact that she's one of the prisoners that would kill again... Ma'am, please go to therapy.

Kei

Kei is that kind of character that you just fall more in love with the more you learn about him. Then again, he hasn't actually revealed a lot about his crime but his backstory instead. His relationship with Eiji will never not be * incoherent sobbing*. I eagerly await more crumbs on Mr and Mrs Sanada as well! 🤲

I didn't think his dynamic with Shun and Eiko could get any worse, but I was wrong. I WAS SO WRONG. Isn't this the man that was supposed to be the most violent prisoner? What happened to him?? Please get him out of there. Somebody save him. #freethesanadas

I'll be honest, she's the character that I forget about the most. Which is kind of weird considering she has the most gruesome murder method in undercover, but it might be a metaphor. Her relationship with her mother is interesting, so I'm looking forward to that.

I do love her design though, especially since she looks so much like Iris, hehe. Her style is great, quite alike Yui's.

Asahi

Rin 🤝 Asahi: Getting more sympathetic as milgram continues. They're the true siblings here. 🤣

Asahi is such a menace, but his insults actually work now that he's had enough time to get a read on everybody. Its funny, I'm down for it. His demeanor towards Miki is really cute! At the end of the day, I want them to get better, which is probably impossible given the nature of milgram, but the sentiment is there. They're a little messed up, but they seem like the characters most likely to be able to live a normal, somewhat happy life if they got out of milgram.

Yurika

Still don't know who her victims are, but all will be revealed in due time. Her relationship with her manager is sad but mostly funny. 😂 I'm not sure how to feel about kinning her the most out of all your ocs like the manga hobby, the struggle of being independent hhhhh

Her ability to resort to violence so easily is kind of interesting now that I think about it, considering one of her themes in struggling with independence. You wouldn't expect her to be the violent type after reading most of what we know about her, but it works somehow.

Riku

His t1 designnn 💖💖💖 Eh, I'm not sure if I like his half and half hairstyle for t2. But the part about the white reminding him of his friend was 👌👌 I can't remember what made him choose those colours, but what if...subconsciously, he chose it because it reminded him of his friend? Just kidding! ...Unless? 👀

His complicated relationship with his friend reminds me of Kalim and Jamil in a way, haha. Have I said this before? I wonder if Riku liked his friend at some point, or at least appreciated something about him. His friend didn't seem to have been a good place either. They both should have gone to therapy together smh. 😔

Reina

Its not really that my eyes have been opened, just that she dropped the serial killer act and now I like her a lot more for it. She's also the only prisoner who's bothering to figure out what's going on milgram, so slay queen. I also love her haircut!! I had a similar one earlier this year, and I got a number of compliments so... :D We twinned.

Ahaha, so her victim is her brother... I figured, but I thought her friends were the ones mainly responsible for the murder. Was it more of an accident? Did something go out of hand? Or is Reina just blaming herself because what else can she do? 🥲

Yeah, I understand that he is the more unforgiving guard and he did give the t1 prisoners horrible punishments, but he doesn't deserve this 😭😭😭 Why must things keep happening to him? What is wrong with him and his brother? /pos

Also, I'm still curious about his past. 👀 Kei has been dropping a lot of crumbs, but I still need Eiji to fill in the gaps, haha. What do you mean 10yo Eiji had to protect Kei? Wasn't Kei described to be violent in t1? The sanada parents toooo #freethesanadas

Her relationship with Asahi is so 💖💖 But other than that, I don't have much to say because she's a pretty cut and dry character. Not that there's anything wrong with that! There's just not a lot of mystery surrounding her anymore compared to her coworkers.

I'm also not sure about her savior complex anymore. 🤔 It doesn't appear that much, and her aggressiveness towards some of the prisoners shows that she's either angrier than she lets on or is a bit of a hypocrite imo. I dunno, let's see what she does for t3! :D

Hiyuu

He's only been here for like, 1 and a half vds but I love him already. Being more of a morally grey guard will do it for me. He's just an eepy lil boi. Can't wait to see what he'll do in t3! But his hinted punishment methods are uh 😰 His mask is really scary too.

I'm just...Roy yelled at the top of his lungs at a bunch of children, and it's treated as a cute quirk. Yes, of course the context is different with Nate drawing attention to a specific player rather than general yelling and getting super personal, and I obviously do not support yelling at employees, but something about the way people laugh at Roy shouting and breaking things for no reason, Isaac throwing stuff, all the players making life difficult for hotel employees and apparently stealing stuff despite being loaded athletes, Sassy harassing a waiter, Roy discouraging Phoebe from cursing but being proud of her elbowing a girl in the neck as if that's somehow better, etc. while jumping on every negative action by Nate - notably not white, rich, or "traditionally masculine" - as a sign of him being fundamentally bad leaves a terrible taste in my mouth. Nate stands out so much as the only non-rich, non-white character that gets to show real depth and interesting flaws. He's so much fun to watch! But the way people are all "I never liked him", or "I feel vindicated", or wishing violence on him makes it seem like they were looking for an excuse not to like him, and feels so much like the old "people are bullied for a reason, if they're weird, they have it coming".

Like you, I have so much fun watching and (as everyone is painfully aware of by now) talking about Nathan, because he has real depth and interesting flaws. For me, I really enjoy connecting how his actions, feelings, and beliefs connect (or conflict) with the show's broader context. Also, he's funny, quirky, and delightful.

So, yeah, it's frustrating when people flatten him into a Ticking Timebomb of Evil, or the Antithesis of Ted's (presumed) Goodness, or AFC Richmond's Designated Patient.

But it's also kind of sad when people flatten other characters into harmless, lovable comedic caricatures. That's what happens when Nathan's misdeeds are taken seriously, and those of other characters are brushed off as just a joke or an inevitable facet of the football industry. Why would people do that to their faves? Can't they see all the fun I'm having picking apart Nathan's storyline? (*touches earpiece* What's that? My intensity and occasional glibness can come off as barely suppressed rage? Not again!)

There can be some pretty gross subtext to why and how characters are excused from accountability. For example, Colin and Isaac's harassment of Nathan is sometimes excused because it happened Before Coach Lasso (BC, for short). While Nathan's verbal abuse of Will and Colin is framed as worse than literal daily physical assault because it occurred After Arrival of Dad Figure Ted (AD, for short). Ted is positioned as a White Savior who brings enlightenment to the masses, forgiving past sins for all who Believe. And Colin and Isaac are positioned as spiritually immature, ignorant children rather than adults savvy enough to exploit the fucked-up power dynamics of their industry. (You know, like Nathan in S2, but with regular beatings.)

(To be fair to fandom, the White Savior Ted and his Infantilized Himbos trope didn't burst fully formed from our collective fannish head. Canonically, Ted does encourage this kind of thinking. He refers to the players (grown adult men, a significant number of whom are Black) as "boys." He uses the father figure thing a lot. And he did convince them to burn a cherished possession in order to appease spirits he doesn't entirely believe in. A little bit of cult leader behavior there. More things to add to the This Would be Taken Seriously if It Were Nathan pile.)

My point is: it's a double-edged sword. As someone who enjoys the non-Nathan characters, I don't like it when their actions are stripped of their ethical, social, and financial weight. I read it as an insult, a diminishing of the characters.

(for future reference: I don't really know how to engage in an ask saying 'I like [thing] more than [your favorite thing]'... I'd prefer it if instead we could talk about a subject on it's own, not in comparison to My Thing. I like Sumire plenty, she is quite pretty. But Nene is my favorite, like how all aspects of my ship are my favorite thing in this manga, & I don't really get anything from hearing about preferences that I don't have, stated at me — there's not really a 'discussion' to be had... bc there's not even a question being posed..? Anyways, hope that illuminates something.)

Oh you know, it's funny, I moreso get the impression that Iro-sensei isn't really interested in parents as characters... so we don't really get many instances of them being incredible caretakers. We definitely have a skew of, various cases of neglect, or (as I suspect for Teru's upbringing) physical abuse — but I wouldn't say that all of the parents are deadbeats lol.

I assume that Nene's home life is perfectly fine, as it doesn't seem to trouble her at all. Her parents are by her side on her first day of middle school (unlike the Yugi or Minamoto, more fraught cases) and Nene seems to be able to pursue her own hobbies, fill her room with things she likes, etc. It's not that owning lots of things means that parents are good, but combined with Nene showing no notable distress about home life, I think it's indicative of them being willing to accommodate her personal tastes. Mommy and daddy will buy you ghoul toys, give you shopping money to buy cute clothes, let you stay out after school and go to Tanabata, so on and so forth. I think of Nene's parents as loving in a... neutral? Way? I don't think they are going above and beyond for her, necessarily, but she seems to have had a normal childhood and expects nothing from them. I'm not sure if there's even any expectations on her wrt future careers. Which imo, would be to purposefully contrast the Yugi, who likely had a strenuous home life alongside expectations for Amane's impending science-focused future.

Ahh, I believe her, you know. It's her distinct swag. Normal girl swag. She has been a normal girl living a normal life until she meets Amane...

Nene's problems lie in her peer-to-peer relationships. She's not able to make many friends, and is seen as weird and eccentric. A bit homely, not alluring, which means her chances at romance are slim... Which troubles her, because she's romance obsessed and really really wants to be in a relationship. I always ah, think it says a lot, that Nene's fear manifested in the Hell of Mirrors is everyone laughing at her about how she is unattractive and no one will ever want her. That's... simply her greatest concern in life... Being attractive enough... Yk I really feel for her though, I know a lot of people would see it as shallow, but I respect that this is just how she is. She can't, ignore it-!! But yk, I also love the fact that Nene doesn't seem to think very hard about her family... It's interesting, because she's otherwise a considerate girl, who cares when innocent people are in harm's way. But ah... she still doesn't factor in her parents' misery at the thought of her never returning from the Far Shore? This decision is so interesting. While fraught families can leave characters with lasting complications, which we can explore deeply... I also am very interested in when an individual has 'no reason' to resent their family — and they don't! — but they also do not seem to care deeply about them. When push comes to shove, Nene is willing to sacrifice everything she has for Amane... which is, in reality, what really sets her apart. Her romanticism goes beyond what a 'normal person' would do.

It is, in reality, easier to leave people who have been cruel to you, than people who have never really done you wrong, because they don't 'deserve' that. Nene is an only child, what if she is valued and loved by her parents...? What if she's their pride and joy, what if she makes them very proud? Well, it just deosn't matter, anyways. Which is selfish, in a way... but I like that. It doesn't matter if you should care about your parents hard work. What if you just, don't-? In Bakeneko Ryokan, Nene is a fancy, extravagant breed of cat, and her owner clearly loved her, enough to name her 'Pretty-chan', enough to put out a flyer to find her after she went missing. But, ehm, Nene simply left... in search of hot guys, to fawn over her...... I think this probably sums up what's going on in canon lol. Loved child, but ultimately this can't take up space in her heart.

Moving on from Nene... Mitsuba's mom seems like a well-meaning woman, as well. I actually would bank on her being more thoughtful than Nene's parents, bc she at least was invested actively in Mitsuba's hobbies, and she was concerned about his friendlessness... They seem to have 'hung out' more. (Makes sense... if Mits had no friends ww...) And, perhaps Kou's mom was a caring sort (? more ambiguous though, he loved her but was very young, and the Minamoto family is complicated.) And then there's a point where, idk if we have enough information to really make a call about anyone, like. What are Akane's parents like...? Honestly, I'd assume neutral again, not terrible but not amazing, not note-worthy. I think a lot of things go into this category...

I just don't get the impression Iro-sensei really wants to linger on anything they don't have to, it really needs to be plot-relevant. Whiiich.... imo makes sense... bc Iro also seems to gravitate to young characters — sooner going to write out complex interactions happening between, 8yos, rather than full fledged adults. Since I also like young characters and dgaf about parents, I kinda get it lol. Parents are often like, something you need to figure out in a clinical sense. Often times I handwave things like, ehh they're just normal people who are fine with their kid but more hands off or whatever, etc etc, let's move on.

Maybe it's also bound to happen when you mostly care about writing romance... *strokes my chin* Which, again, same, relate. You don't really want to linger on platonic dynamics tooooo longgg.... Boring.

So yeah. I think of it more of a matter of preference and how much time is allotted to things in the story, not necessarily that all parents are supposed to suck. I think it is supposed to be distinct when someone has OK parents.

In response to my previous ask, it's quite a shame that we won't get Venti as a potential love interest after knowing how powerful he really is :( Freedom was such a double edge knife during that age and time that Venti having a personality to reflect that would have been so interesting to see. Does he get more appearances in the common routes or is his cameos exclude to a certain route?

Also, talking about types, I have a really funny story about it that cracks me up from time to time. One night, my friend expressed an interest in FE3H so I began introducing the cast to her over the call. It took quite a long time since ya know how big of a cast it is so after introducing everyone, I jokingly asked her who did she thinking was my favourite character and she, without a single hint of hesitance, said "It's Ashe, isn't it?"... to which I replied "h o w" in the most shocked voice I could muster. Because??? Yeah we've been friends for a long time but??? She barely even knew these characters??? How did she know that Ashe was my favourite???? And then she laughed and said that he just seems like the guy that I would like according to all my past faves and I HATE that she's right. (Carmen, if you're reading this by some chance, I still hate you for this/j)

Yeah don't spend any money until you're at least financial stable on your own. It's good to spend money on games cause it supports the game developers and allows them to continue working on the game but as players, we have the responsibility of spending rationally and not falling into a financial crisis for simple entertainment

Voices are such a big criteria for me when it comes to picking my faves. That's part of the reason why, as much as I love Albedo, I can't like him as much as Tighnari or Xiao because his CN voice is so,,,, it's just so different from the others. I think Khoi just did too good of a job voice acting for him to the point that Khoi's voice is just The Albedo Voice(tm). Aether/Scara's CN VA did such a good job voice acting for both of em, especially in the recent prelude archon quest which is just (chef kiss) beautiful, spectacular, amazing.

But for real, most characters I have a crush on start with me going in an enemies to lovers route with them. Now usually when I get a husbando I start being in complete denial and won't stop slandering them (playfully) while my friends point out I'm a tsundere. I am not aware whenever I like a character or I just really loathe them. You have to stage an intervention for me to realize things.

Exhibit A&B: Childe and Diluc. Never knew I actually did like him until my friends started saying "sus" all over again until I realized "sht, you right, I am sus." That's the painful cycle of being Ansy's favorite. Although I don't think I see Childe in that light anymore, that doesn't mean I didn't joke about how I made him wait in the Liyue restaurant for months to take a vacation and came back with a tan cuz I dislike him lol. I'd go into detail as to how my "tsundere"ness made my friends start a fic chain about yandere!isekai!diluc but I won't.

There are two husbandos I've never had that with and they remain my most faves, which is Dimitri and Oda from BSD. Now those two? They're the peak of the things I love about a character. I felt like I had a friends to lovers arc with them instead.

Dimitri's kind but has a feral side with him while Oda is similar except he's poetically but disastrously apathetic in life. What they have in common however, as I have recently realized, is that they both die.

Jk, it's cause they're both self-sacrificing!... Yeah and that also 99% of my husbandos die–

When I first got to Dain, not a single day was spent without me calling him Genshin!Dimitri or Dimitri in Genshin Art Style. I liked his looks– lord I love his cape his hair his eyes the way he's dressed. He's so pretty.

And so, like usual, I kept slandering him like my other then-husbandos lmao.

I kept making jokes that he's my husband that went to buy milk for the last 500 years and forgot to come home. I also kept joking that I keep forgetting to finish his quest + We Will Be Reunited and he's been waiting in wolvendom for weeks lol. I was a Razor main so I made jokes that he doesn't visit his son often anymore... That information is absolutely irrelevant but I just wanted to share that hAHAHAHAH–

... so why did I brought up Dimitri and Oda? Other than the fact that Dain is basically Dimi's twin brother from another franchise, they feel like a merge between those two if that makes sense.

Dain feels like what would've happened if Post Time Skip Dimitri (PTSD) never got his classmates to help him and went on to quell his anger by himself and he succeeded so now he doesn't know what to do. It doesn't help that Yuri Lowenthal delivers these lines like PTSDimitri's low voice. He also carries the same calm and jadedness Oda has for life. Dain narrates things like he's an outsider in the same way Oda feels rather disconnected with his own life. There's also something poetic about the way he speaks, like how he described the abyss mages as the claws and fangs, etc. Dain's humble and acts neutral like Oda too.

Dain's like the perfect mixture of these two for me. Cuz unlike most my husbands he's immortal so he can't die right?

And, idk why, but I feel like out of all the characters I know, Dain wouldn't hate me so much? I think I'd annoy Dimitri a lot and Oda wouldn't know what to do with me. I feel like Dain and I would have a perfect balance on speaker & listener during conversations.

It also doesn't help that Dimitri's ISFJ and I'm ENTP so if I ever have a friendship with Dimitri I'd be like Claude 2.0 but worse and Oda might think I'm Dazai but not s**cidal

Dain absolutely has a calming presence. He's the type who, if you're both comfortable, would hug you from behind and place his head on the crook of your neck every morning to show that he loves you. And he doesn't even have to say it cause you'll feel it. He's been through a lot and he would be hesitant to be with you but the moment you hug him back he'd crumble and he'd lean his cheek against your palm. Can you imagine it? Can you imagine his morning voice? If you can't, recall the moment he said "find a way... To stop that thing!" but make it c a l m e r . That's right. Wouldn't you want to hear that same voice say "Good morning"? C'mon. You get me right?

Dain's also pretty sassy. I like that in a man– he hasn't lost his sense of humor after gaining immortality lol. Plus he's smart but not in an Alhaitham type of way but in a street-smart manner, which for me is 100x more attractive. Another unlike alhaitham is that he's not arrogant haha. He knows how he should conduct himself with the archons and he's not totally blinded by grudges (which is why I also love Kazuha) but boy oh boy would I love to see feral!past!Dainsleif who tries to fricking war against these archons it'd be fun af. Trust me, I adore PTSDimitri's feral sht but the way he slowly gained his sanity made me fall for him HARD.

"really? how so?" "well, i used to get into fights with some boys in my neighborhood. most days id come home with my clothes all dirty." [then there's some other stuff..] "for some reason, i just can't seem to get any closer fo the idols i looked up to so much when i was little." while it's probably referring to the fact her old managers put her primarily on variety shows, it can also be taken as her being pushed aside in favour of cis idols. the 4koma for that event shows her telling the rest of more more jump! about her childhood, and she reiterates the points I've already mentioned: "fighting with boys, getting my clothes all muddy, choking on daifuku.."

;; anyway. the card story for her colourfes has her going to her fragment sekai, much like every other colourfes, and encounters her younger self. airi gets scolded by small airi for yelling which is funny. then small airi talks about why she wants to be an idol and she says "then [the mean boys from her childhood] said that a brat like me could never become an idol" "my mum even bought me some really cute looking clothes, but whenever i wear them, the boys in my class tease me about it." "they tell me that im a big, mean monster and shouldn't be wearing girly clothes." then that last one is followed by present airi thinking "(even though you're a girl in every sense of the word.)" they go over and try some dresses on together and airi sees the discussion her and her managers had about putting her exclusively on variety tv and has to explain that to small airi. she and small airi promise not to lose sight of their goals and then the fragment sekai vanishes. :3

(it gets worse.) she talks about having lost sight of her own dream because of this, her idol identity becomes tangled with happy everyday. happy everyday being the tv persona she gets and has to keep up, it's the main thing looming on her during this event. she doesn't like it, because it's the only thing the public came to see her as and her managers started to only focus on that side of her. she runs away from practice because of this and ends up helping len and rin with their mc-ing. this helps her come to terms with happy everyday and she embraces it! going back to my point earlier about one line being able to be interpreted as her being pushed aside for cis idols, her being put on variety shows can also be read this way. alongside the fact we see her get immediately disrespected on said shows and how her complaints in the future were ignored.

Fíli makes a choked sound, and Nori lets out a vicious string of swears in Khuzdul.

Totes agreed. I already told someone else but a lot of people treat her as if she's just a stereotype of the sassy Black woman or angry Black woman, even though her song is very righteously angry at Henry, and throughout the rest of the show, she is shown to be a very kind and forgiving woman, not to mention she's not at all sassy on her own or outside of her arguments with Anne Boleyn, in my honest opinion she's more portrayed as a funny, goofy character, who gets a lot of hilarious and witty quips. All the queens are funny to some extent but in my opinion Catherine of Aragon is the funniest. She's actually pretty lighthearted and seems like someone fun to be around, who is good for a laugh. And outside of that, she is, like you said, portrayed as proper, regal, and royal. Her character description even says that she "lights up the room".

And honestly, in my opinion, Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard are both sassier and more aggressive than her. I mean Anne Boleyn's song is just as sassy as Catherine of Aragon's and she even insults Aragon in her song and constantly comes for her for no reason, while Aragon directs all of her anger at Henry(which is good foreshadowing of the end moral of the story, to not pit women against each other because of men). Katherine Howard's introduction involves her going around and roasting all of the other queens. While Catherine of Aragon's introduction is her complaining about her situation with Henry in a rather humorous fashion("I just don't think I'd look that good in a wimple!"). But no one calls Boleyn and Howard sassy nearly as much as they do Aragon. Is it because when white women are sassy it's cute and funny, but when Black women are sassy it's proof of our brash and indomitable nature? Or is it because white women are "allowed" to be sassy, since it isn't a stereotype associated with them and thus isn't a negative reflection of them as a group?

And, all right, Aragon is indeed a bold, fierce, and strong woman. But so are all the queens??? So why is that only held against her(or Cleves)? Why is it a stereotype when applied to her? Again, because anything white women do is cute, quirky, charming, and innocent. Anything Black women do is scorned or looked down upon.

And I do see some people say that Seymour and Howard being casted/seen as white the most as opposed to woc is problematic because they are the more feminine queens, which can send the message that white women are more feminine than their woc counterparts. And I do partially agree with this, as a Howard stan I would love to see a Black(particulary darkskin/brownskin) Howard(I recognize that we got one with Tsemaye Bob-Egbe, and I adore her! But as far as I'm concerned she's the only one! I need more! But to say that Aragon isn't also one of the more feminine queens is absurd and at this point I think if you ignore that to say that Seymour and Howard are the most feminine than you are just willfully being naive and ignorant(and perhaps racist as well). She has a very fancy and feminine outfit, wears an elegant tiara, and wears the most jewelry. Her personality is that of a firmly devoted wife, and a loving mother, and she's even portrayed as, like you said, a regal, dignified queen. So how is she not "feminine"? I think that this is just the masculinization of Black women striking again. Just because she is strong(like the other queens) doesn't mean that she's not feminine.

I'm not denying that there is racism in the casting, and more woc should be casted as Seymour and Howard, but to say that Catherine of Aragon being Black is problematic is just absurd(also she's based off of Beyonce, what's not to love about that?). There should definitely be more diversity but that doesn't mean that Aragon should be brought down. Most of these racist assumptions and portrayals are the result of the fandom's portrayals/depictions of the queens. Not the musical itself. I'm too tired of writing this to explain so I'll just drop this post right here since it goes into detail.

Anyway Catherine of Aragon deserves better from this fandom so y'al best respect her.

My answer is just going to be a wee bit longer than usual, so Imma just add a "keep reading".

I've actually touched on this subject in several posts before, and you reiterate the point perfectly: even if what she does is played off for laughs, she does everything with 100% seriousness and should therefore be judged accordingly.

The point to look at is she isn't trying to be funny.

When she tried to kill Lucy by making her air bubble smaller, or when she tried to kill Gray by shooting boiling water at him because she thought Lucy was her love rival, or when she m*sturbated using a sponge she handmade herself with Gray's face on it without his knowledge, or when she org*smed in Gray's mouth without his consent, or when she stalked him all over the world etc. etc... yeah, even if the author did his darnedest to make his readers have a lil chuckle by overplaying it or making his characters react in weird ways, what she does is objectively disgusting and just plain wrong.

We can also turn the comedy argument around on them and ask them why they find this abuse and stalking to be funny? They just comeback with "oh you're no fun at parties" or whatever (a Pro's told me that I'd run out of a comedy club in distress and then tried to say it wasn't meant as an insult like what). That's really their best response, and it's a terrible one. I would rather be considered as a stick in the mud by others but sure in what's right and wrong than be blast a parties and make light of atrocities.

Also, I love that you brought up the double standard! So many things are wrong with the treatment and the reception of Edolas gr///via, where do I begin??

First off, it's plain misandry to pretend like men can't be abused by women, or abused in general. What's worse is that while the anime goes out of its way to have Edolas Gray's guildmates chide him and reprimand him for "bothering juvia", (and what he does isn't even that bad), when Earthland juvia does all he does and more, all her guildmates still consider her a friend and cute. What's even worse is that the majority of the audience finds nothing wrong with this unequal treatment of the two love-seeking persons. None of the Pros seem to care that Edolas Gray is dumped on for going after Edolas juvia so hard, which wouldn't make sense because if they viewed it in the same light, which they don't btw, then they would have the same outrage that they have when anyone calls Earthland juvia out for anything. Instead, they have the audacity to shoot their resentment at Earthland Gray for not accepting juvia immediately.

Gray can't seem to win in either dimension! When he acts like what the Pros would want him to, he's ignored when he's bullied. When he acts like an independent person who doesn't want to be with juvia, then he's a terrible guy for doing this to poor poor juvia-chan.

Also, Mashima clearly sees that the lusting, crazed chasing after a person who doesn't want you is a bad thing, something that people would rightfully call you out on, considering how he treated Edolas Gray through making his guildmates not accept his behavior. I think this only goes to prove again that Mashima wasn't considering gr///via to be anything more than a gag ship, that it had clear flaws, but then he totally dropped the ball by making all Earthland juvia's guildmates just love her and accept her despite all the terrible things she did both to the guild, to guildmates, and most of all to Gray, and by making Gray fall for her eventually as well. And even Edolas gr///via comes into fruition too! Mashima lost my respect twice over; neither of those relationships are healthy.

Moving on, I bet if you presented this case I'm about to iterate to the Pros, they would sing a different tune. Listen to this description:

Let's say there's a fictional dude named Chad who has a mega crush on a fictional girl named Amy. Chad always talks in the third person, saying "Chad just loves you" and such. He always calls Amy "goddess Amy", an honorific that really is out of place and unwarranted. Chad makes tons of merch based off Amy without her knowing, literally making hundreds of items either modeled after her body, her face, or with her name on it. He made a sponge with her face on it and whenever he showers, he scrubs his pee pee with said sponge and gets off on it. Then whenever he leaves his house, he gives this big plushie that was made to look like Amy a big kiss, telling it goodbye. Chad gets insanely jealous when other guys talk to Amy and glares at them or insults them and occasionally tries to kill them. He's even tried to kill Amy when he thought she "was cheating on him" even though they weren't dating. Chad follows Amy everywhere, to her work and even to her father's grave even though she wanted privacy. Chad got down on his hands and knees once in public in front of their whole guild and begged Amy to spank him, blushing and waving his rear end around in the air. When, freaked out, Amy refused, Chad proceeded to chase her around with his butt in the air pointed at her. Chad tried to give Amy a lewd body pillow of himself the day after the most important person in Amy's life died, even though he knew it. When their guild was disbanded, Chad followed Amy and barged into her new living quarters and refused to leave. He even tried to sleep with Amy, but she kicked him out. For some reason, Chad is proud of this fact and even tells a 12 year old what he tried to do with a smug look on his face. At one point, Chad, being shrunken somehow, jumped into Amy's mouth and basically rutted against her tongue, org*sming in the process. Something to note: Chad and Amy were NOT dating.

I could go on, but do you even want me to?

Obviously, Chad is a disgusting pig right? Absolutely!!

Here's the thing. I don't care for Cersei. I think she's an asshole who abused Sansa. I don't understand why anyone would want her and Sansa to become friends or even respected allies, and I do not at all understand why anyone thinks she was a hilarious, harmless "vodka aunt" to Sansa, because there's nothing funny or cute to me about how she treated Sansa. I don't think she had any good intentions at all with regards to Sansa. But, there are plenty of people who do, plenty of people who want them to become friends or develop respect for each other, some who even ship them. Yet as much as I disagree with their opinion of Cersei and Sansa's relatuonship, I am not going to be suspicious of them, or make blanket generalizations about all of them, or make numerous posts about how they must hate Sansa and must really only care about Cersei if they want Sansa to be friends with someone who was so abusive to her. And if I did do those things, I imagine you and others would find it insulting and think I was being both ridiculous and narrow-minded, not to mention placing way too much undue importance on my own opinion of Cersei and Sansa's relationship and treating it as the only accurate interpretation. Maybe looking at it from that perspective will help you understand how it sounds when you make broad, moral judgments about shippers and fans of certain characters, even if it is just saying you're "suspicious" of them. We don't need a meta on all the reasons you hate SanSan. Trust me, we already know. God knows y'all never miss an opportunity to scream your hatred from the nearest rooftop. And that's fine, as long as it's tagged properly. No is asking you to like the ship. But it's crossing a huge line to make moral and personal judgments about the shippers themselves, most of whom you've never even spoken to and whose comments, meta, and fic you've never even read. How is it a moral judgement when I am suspicious about you liking Sansa if you ship SanSan in canon. It’s not being suspicious about you, it’s about being suspicious of your claim that you love Sansa  (although I don’t even know if you ship SanSan in canon).
