Power of visualization: Mr, Spock is clearly superior in this category; he does complicated mathematical computations in his head, and carries on casual conversation at the same time. (2)

Memory: Mr, Spock again has the edge. He has many times demonstrated a memory capacity superior to any other on the Enterprise, with the possible exception of the ship's computer. (3)

Alertness: Spock again probably has the edge here.

Calmness: Spock, easily.

Psychological shrewdness: Again, Spock has the edge. He has been known to trick Kirk into doing things he did not intend to do, (4) and even to talk his way out of following Kirk's orders, (5)

Will to win: The edge here belongs to the Captain. (6)

Of course, it is understood that neither Spock nor Kirk is at all deficient in any of these qualities. However, with Kirk leading in only one of the six categories, how can he possibly win so frequently?

The answer is simple, Spock's psychological shrewdness takes into account Kirk's relentless will to win. (7) His memory and power of visualization paint a vivid picture of Kirk when his will is frustrated, (8) a condition which bodes ill for anyone in range. With alertness and calmness in this crisis, Spock maneuvers the games so that Kirk wins. With a final touch of the psychological shrewdness, he allows Kirk to believe that his "illogical" style of play has triumphed over Spock's logic. This puts the Captain into a frame of mind which is beneficial to his self-image, his efficiency rating, and the well-being of the crew in general. (9)

The Vulcan, of course, would be the last to admit this; but it would not be the first time he has deceived his friend for what he considered a valid logical reason. (10)

been thinking for a while about tumblr and the things i do and don't sort of allow myself to post or reblog and what freedom i want in different spaces etc. all of which is a long leadup to saying i have made for myself a sideblog for things i wouldn't feel comfortable putting on my main blog for a variety of reasons. if any of my mutuals want the url so you can follow, just send an ask or message and i'll pass it along.

but also, if i know you irl, i will likely (with all possible love) say no, because the whole point is making a place to post stuff that's too vulnerable or embarrassing for like, people who KNOW me. if you're someone i met online but kind of know irl now too it's fine to ask but it might still be a no.

i don't want anyone worrying this blog is going to be for venting or mean stuff it's really mostly just going to be for nsfw or again things that are too personal for people who know me as a person but fine for strangers on the internet because that's how my brain works.

so i’ve noticed a few ppl following me on here still have default icons and i’m not gonna block you so dw, if you are reblogging stuff/interacting or have a description or whatever, i can see you are a real person!

however, i always see overly negative posts about this and never any actually offering any advice so i’ve decided to make a post collecting together ideas for icons, in case you guys just dont know where to start (i’ve been there)

so:

i think one of these bottle caps would make a cool icon

these pies from animal crossing are also pretty cool

this (@oldwindowsicons) a blog full of old windows icons which is pretty cool. They have old style pixel ones and also newer ones from vista ect. And they collect ones from other software and games, you might find one from your childhood!!!

if you are particularly attatched to your default icon, this person (@anonymous-leemur ) makes edits of them! so they are still the same little guys but different (and very cool imo)

there are loads of other blogs dedicated to collecting icons for ppls use so see if you can find any others!

other options:

there is an icon tag! where ppl post icons theyve made for people to use

is there an artist you really like on here? send them a message and ask if you can use a piece of their art as a header/icon (many artists are completely fine with this, tho in the case of art you should always ask)

if they do commissions you can even commission a custom icon from them!

are you an artist? share some of your art with us! draw yourself an icon

particularly like a certain character? take a screenshot from a show/published comic and use that

take a photo of something you like or find a stock image/ clipart on search and use that. your icon could be your favourite fruit, an animal,  a tool you need for your job/hobby, a landscape, any other object (picture of an orange??? a fish? a paintbrush)

pretty much, the world is your oyster. there are loads of options, the general etiquette is just that if an image isnt in the public domain already (by being in a show/published comic/stock image) you check with the artist that they are cool with you using their art. if someone is posting stuff tagged as icons, they want you to use them and you dont need to ask! some artists will ask that you credit them, you can do this by making a post saying thanks to @[artist] for the icon/header
