i had a wii u that i played the hell out of and it makes me really sad to hear people talk about it the way they do. like, sure, nintendo made a lot of bizarre decisions regarding it, but it also had so many good games despite that. it was an awkward console but i feel like neither gamers nor nintendo afforded it any grace and now because of it stuff like the miis are being phased out entirely because nintendo associates them with that awkward "failure" and wants to adopt professionalism. i miss the little game loading jingles and startup animations! i miss the miis! there was so much charm in the wii/ds and wii u/3ds era that's just gone now.
