YES, it is canon that Marius and Daniel are either close or exact vampire anniversary twins! A fact that Armand gets a little jealous of when he thinks about it sometimes, cause it's just another example of things Marius and Daniel get to share (like the mind gift) that he's forever excluded from.

But then, Daniel's seen a few times now the signs of Armand's inferiority complex when it comes to he and Marius since he started splitting his time between Trinity Gate and the rest of the world that he still wants to travel (Marius still gnashes his teeth when he thinks of Daniel out in the world on his own, but that's a growth opportunity Armand is able to support him in). And so he stops visiting Marius alone around Halloween and instead drags Armand with him too because, dammit, Daniel wants to spend his special day with both of them.

And he does have to drag and cajole Armand those first several years. But after that? It's Armand who's dragging Daniel out of Trinity Gate a week before Halloween, while Daniel's still pulling together things like, you know, shoes, because Armand can't believe this is yet another Halloween he gets to spend with his old Master. (He never dreamed he'd be this lucky, truly.)

Then, of course, it's still just Armand and Daniel running away from the other laughing, giddy children at Halloween time, but here's Marius wandering behind them all, hands firmly tucked in the pockets of his slacks ("No, I am not running after the two of you,") watching after them with the most indulgent expression anyone has ever seen on his face.

Daniel's existence and unlife is an eternal buffer/lubricant that helps heal a bunch of the long lived vampire relationships that existed well he was born, and no one can convince me otherwise.

And, just because of that, I'm also scrapbooking in this excerpt from another Halloween related @desertfangs ask-and-answer from earlier today.

One of my softest Daniel headcanons is that every year, he insists they all go trick or treating in NYC not only because Halloween is the one night a year where he can unapologetically be a freak on the streets and live his best life but also because he genuinely likes kids and loves seeing Armand interact with kids and hand out candy and money while he laughs and takes him by the arm as he says “ok Daniel they’re chasing me now, we need to start moving faster” 🏃🏻‍♂️ 🏃🏼

Good morning, anon, what a way to start my day with this soft Daniel and Armand Halloween headcanon!! I love it! I do think Daniel likes Halloween a lot, as he doesn't have to worry about anyone seeing his fangs, and he probably enjoys costumes (he's one of those people who probably tries to conscript Armand into a couple's costume of some sort and Armand is down but sadly has already chosen what they will both wear, although at least once he'd gotten Armand to do something from Star Wars together - they definitely saw that movie together in the theater!)

He definitely loves watching Armand giving things out to kids, whether that's out on the town or just chilling at Trinity Gate, answering the door for trick-or-treaters. Maybe they're THOSE people who turn the front of the house into a weird haunted maze you have to get through to get to the door. Louis thinks it's over the top and Lestat insists he get a prominent role in the maze until Daniel explains he'll just have to sit there and jump-scare people. (He might still be down.)

But the mental image of Armand standing on the street giving out coins and candy to all of the trick-or-treating children only to have kids chase after him for more and he and Daniel needing to run away, laughing and giddy, is absolutely adorable.

Thank you for such a beautiful headcanon! I can't wait for Halloween I say in February, even as I'm super over winter and ready for spring!

Finally got a 4D Vision dog anatomy model! It is much bigger than we anticipated and, although this one is used, missing an ear, and slightly cracked, we are extremely happy with our purchase!

Whenever Armand hasn’t fed and is particularly cold because of it he’ll put his hands on Daniel’s neck both to watch Daniel jump and also to warm himself up (followed by Daniel having him hold his hot mug of coffee)

I recently moved (away from my abusive ass mother! Huzzah!), and it's been really bittersweet because me and my dog lost our bestest bud in October. So, like, out of a bad situation, but I don't even get to enjoy it with the coolest dog ever. But the dog I still have (10, half-blind) has been super upset. Like, I'll be gone 2 minutes to check the mail and I can hear her anxiously screaming all the way from the boxes. And I don't have it in me to get another dog, because it feels like replacing the chilliest, sweetest beast that ever lived. So I'm like ok, what about a cat? Old doggo is great with kitties. Apartment doesn't care.

So I went and got this the other day

And my dog's anxiety has gone down so much, just by having another living thing around the house while I'm away.

Her name is Juniper. She's slowly becoming friends with my dog, Clio. I've had her a little less than a week, and she's been a great cat so far. Only thing I could possibly complain about is that she's so lovey that I keep having whatever I'm holding knocked out of my hands by a cat eager for attention.

But the most important thing is she's helping ease the anxiety of an elderly dog who only has her right eye, and that's super slay of her. I don't exactly like introducing new friends into a situation like what I have going on, but it's working out so well and I have the means to take care of her. She's adjusted amazingly, and I'm hoping I'll have many good years with her, and a bunch more with my old doggo.

Okay okay okay, this was the perfect addition @covenofthearticulate, but let's bring scent more to the forefront of this domestic nest.

Not only does Louis come home to find Armand in a nest that smells like Louis, but that smell is combined with some of the bath scents that Lestat left the last time he was visiting Trinity Gate - Armand knows it will drive Lestat crazy that his stuff got used without him, but also Armand just misses his smell and wanted to soak in it for an hour or so.

That's combined with some of the cologne Armand bought for Daniel after they reunited, diving straight back into those old habits because they both missed Armand's controlling those aspects of his life - Armand put it on all his pulse points after his bath so that every time his slow dead heart beats, he thinks of Daniel.

Louis' sweaters are the last layer of Armand covering himself in the people he loves, the cheery on top of the self-care-in-small-hours-of-morning sundae.

Armand does something like this every time he's left alone at Trinity Gate, this just happens to be the first time Louis' come home and found him like that.

Of course he tells his husband and Daniel. Daniel doesn't do anything much different, because everything that's his favourite is something Armand's bought and put in the home for him anyway.

But Lestat makes sure to leave more of his favourite smelly scented stuff at Trinity Gate, after that, whenever he leaves for court. Everything from hair sprays to nail polish finds its way into the bathroom Armand uses most. Always the most top end, decadent price point, because that's the domestic thing Armand and Lestat most have in common.

Hi! I completely agree with your answer especially about people assuming that every discrepancy is due to Louis' unreliable narration. I know that Rolin said that s2 will change our perspective on s1 and that the DV scene and the murder will be revisited, but I don't think it automatically means that what we saw in 7 episodes will be thrown away, like so many people believe. It wouldn't make sense imo. What do you think?

I am also very much not a fan of how some amc iwtv fans treat unreliable narration like a magical retcon device. To be fair, Anne Rice treated unreliable narration like a magical retcon device too, but I had the optimism to assume that we were all in agreement that since the show writers have the power of hindsight they wouldn’t feel the need to do that.

But anyways yeah, it would absolutely not make sense for Louis to be lying about the dv. The great thing about unreliable narration is that even when the narrator is lying, the lie reveals to us something interesting about the narrator. What would pretending to be a victim of dv reveal about Louis? Ig that he likes to victimize himself or has some reason to demonize Lestat, but neither of those traits would align with what we know about Louis in the books and in the show. There are things in the books that Louis was revealed to have made up in iwtv, but specifically to make his history with Lestat appear less tumultuous and more clean cut. Like how he lied about not being in love with Lestat so that their conflict would seem less personal and painful, or how he lied about meeting Lestat again in the 20th century and received some catharsis after everything. Neither of these are in anyway indicative of a person who would lie about being beaten by their partner. Then, it makes even less sense for what we know of show Louis. Louis in the show is very explicitly averse to being seen as a victim, and he actively makes an effort to excuse Lestat’s actions and paint their relationship in a way that is less fucked up then it really was.

I suppose if they wanted to have a twist where Louis was actually a complete fraud and everything we thought we knew about him was a lie, then they could go the dv was a lie route and have it make sense. But that would arguably be worse. Louis is a character many people love and identify with, show and book alike, and painting him that way would be out of character and definitely get severe push back. Louis is extremely flawed (esp in the books) which I love about him, but not in that way. Not even to mention the offensive real life implications of having a character lie about dv in such a way, especially after showing the violence in such graphic detail.

Some people have the theory that Armand is manipulating Louis to lie, or putting false memories in his head, and I think this is a direction they’re more likely to go in over Louis lying knowingly, but that doesn’t mean I like it. This would be very simplistic and dumb imo, the the only thing it would tell us about these characters is “Armand bad”, and it would inevitably frame Armand as the big bad of this arc, which I rlly don’t like. Armand assumes the villain role in the first 2 books, and does have the capacity to pull this off with his very strong mind powers, but doing smth like this is so vastly out of character that I can’t fathom a way the writers could pull it off without making my skin itch, as a rabid armand fan. They’d have to fundamentally alter his relationship with not just Lestat but Louis and Daniel too, not to mention I have no idea what his motive would be, and that’s saying smth considering I love dissecting Armand’s mind.

Honestly I don’t know how they are going to go forward with the dv, and how they plan to change our minds, I have no predictions that I’d be happy with happening. Tbh I just wish the dv didn’t happen, bcus I can’t see anyway that it would be meaningful to the story being told or the characters I love.

Vash and Wolfwood had just finished another long day of running around and had decided to take a leisurely stroll through the local marketplace. Chatter and laughter filled the air as the townspeople went about their business, creating a gentle hum of activity.

As they walked side by side, both men were lost in their thoughts. Vash was reminiscing about their latest adventure, while Wolfwood mulled over their plans for the coming days. Neither man noticed that their hands had somehow found each other, fingers interlocking in a comforting grip.

Vash was the first to snap back to reality when a small child selling flowers excitedly approached them.

"Would you like to buy a flower, sirs?"

Startled, Vash looked down at the child and then back at his intertwined hand with Wolfwood's. His cheeks flushed a deep shade of red as he hastily let go, suddenly feeling incredibly shy. He sheepishly laughed while picking out a flower and handing the child some coins.

Wolfwood, still oblivious to their earlier linked hands, turned his attention to the child.

He said, handing over some coins and selecting a flower for himself.

It wasn't until after the little girl had scampered away that Wolfwood noticed Vash's flustered expression. He raised an eyebrow, curious about what had caused his friend to be so red-faced.

“Your lover is waiting for you.”

Lover.

Had the word ever sounded as sweet as it did when it rolled off Lestat’s tongue in the combined accents of their old French and that slow cowboy drawl?

“Such theatrics to announce you’re ready to step out for the evening, don’t you think? As if I have kept you deprived and thirsty all night,” Armand teased, taking care to scrape his nails over Lestat’s adam’s apple as he made to adjust the dark blue cravat.

A feather-light touch that nearly cut into the now barely sun-darkened skin as Lestat swallowed. The low click in his throat audible only to the ears of a fellow predator.

Delighting at the thrill, at the promise of more to come later.

“No, of course not,” Lestat sounded breathless even as his grey eyes softened, large hands resting on either side of Armand’s ribcage. “Why...” He paused, generous mouth curving into a smirk that hinted at an understanding of the darker nature they both possessed, “That would be cruel of you, my darling.”

If anyone was intimately familiar with Armand’s particular brand of cruelty, it would be Lestat.

“Indeed, it would,” Armand mimicked Lestat’s velvety tone back to him just to hear his dead pulse leap before stepping back to appraise the final look.

Each detail, from the leather boots to the satin hair ribbon, had been carefully chosen by Armand himself. “And heaven help me if I were to change a single item!” Lestat had jested when he walked into his chamber and took in everything Armand had carefully laid on the bed. How lucky for Lestat that recent years had taken the sting out of anything to do with that tale. 

“Satisfactory?” Lestat made a show of holding his arms out at his sides and turning in an exaggerated circle as if presenting himself to an entire panel of judges.

“Would you like a first prize ribbon pinned to your lapel? Or perhaps a medallion draped around your neck? Because that can be arranged.”

“Do you happen to have one on you?” Lestat’s playfulness contagious now, a balm to Armand’s weary heart. 

An invitation that Armand responded to with a smile as he reached out and tucked back the errant golden ringlet always found its way to Lestat’s temple to mix in with the baby hairs that would forever be present at the edges of his hairline. 

He stood on tiptoe to press a tender kiss to Lestat’s cheekbone. “You’re magnificent.” 

“And what else am I, Armand?” 

Armand didn’t miss a beat, the kiss to Lestat’s mouth much less chaste. A perfect slut...

Lestat’s grip broke through his skin as he caught the words in Armand’s mind—hungry for an endearment Armand kept only for him. He bit into Lestat’s lower lip to smother the resounding hiss, but still, a groan escaped him at the first taste of Lestat’s blood. Sweet as honey and searingly hot as it throbbed on his tongue.

A perfect, incorrigible slut.

hyun-woo respects wade & vanessa simply for the fact that ETHAN, known destroyer of entire universes in the blink of an eye, chose them to be his parents. of course, he’s also noticed the influence they had on him. as far as he’s concerned, they’re good in his books. hyun-woo vc: i won’t threaten them bc i actually do NOT deal with a pissed off ethan.

any threat to ethan, wade & vanessa is a threat to hyun-woo, as far as he’s concerned.

he definitely thanks them for helping ethan Become more human, even if hyun-woo himself will take no liberties to change his own ways. mostly bc he’s comfortable with himself. that being said, he will just be emotionless around the pair, like he is with everyone & everything else.

... mental note, never bring these examples up in front of his children if he ever did meet them. He wouldn't want Mona to have to deal with 'experiments' like mixing a good amount of salt into a cup of water to see how the poor 'subject' would react. Rem definitely hadn't enjoyed that line of thinking--

"We'll have to see if we can get a stable back and forth then. They need more babysitters." He'd learned early on that no, letting a six year old run wild in the desert with just a worm for supervision was not in fact great parenting. Even if Zazie was good at it. "They don't see many people outside of family anyway so widening the circle's probably a good idea."
