I wrote this story right after season 8, because I thought it was a terribly unsatisfying ending after all the build-up we got in earlier seasons, and I know I’m not the only one. Our beloved characters were done dirty. So I’ve decided to change some things and rewrite the ending. I never had time for a thorough reread and corrections, but then, more than a year later, the lockdown provided me with more free time than I bargained for, and now I’m finally ready to publish.

The story takes off around the S7 ending, then moves on towards the S8 ending, and continues a couple of years afterwards (but before the “canon” wedding of Shiro and Curtis).

Oh, and by the way, I never liked Curtis, so be warned. I can’t stand how one of the main characters got married to someone we barely know, without any build-up. I might have come to like him if we’d gotten a chance to get to know him – but now it feels like he stole our main character from us.

The story consists of 30 chapters and an epilogue. Some chapters are long, some are very short. POV's are Shiro and Keith. I’ll update regularly, so please subscribe!

I'm mentally unstable. I have depression and anxiety and it prevents me from writing from time to time. So, if I suddenly stop posting for anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, don't worry. I'm just getting back into shape.

Some zones of romance are... Difficult for me to write. I'm not even talking about smut (though I don't know if I'll ever write any). I have a troubled relationship with my ex, and the only reason I can think is that her parents have prevented me from talking to her. Thus, domesticity can make me pretty heartbroken, because I miss that with her.

I'm an angst God. If you ask for angst, you're getting hell. However, they do take longer to write, since angst needs a proper atmosphere and that can take time and lots of re-writing.

Okay, here’s my full rant on Voltron season 7 broken into individual things that I don’t like

SPOILERS PAST HERE

First of all, give these kids a break. A large portion of the Voltron fandom was excited to see a more domestic season, with everyone coming back to their families and all of that, and instead all we got was fighting (Voltron vs galra, Paladins fighting, Voltron vs Garrison, etc). Of course, there was still going to be fighting since it’s still Voltron, but I think it was really disappointing that we only got two or three scenes with everyone with their family, especially since Hunk didn’t even get his family back until the very very end of the show.

Also, I’m super tired of everyone being put into their stereotypes in Voltron. Lance is more than just dumb, Keith is more than emo, Pidge is more than smart, Hunk is more than a cook or coward, and Shiro is more than just the leader. You think that after 7 seasons they would move past two word descriptors for everyone.

I know Voltron is a kids show technically, but I think it would be valuable to show that not every villain is redeemable. Like Admiral Sanda. Whether it not she had good intentions, she still betrayed all of earth, gave Voltron to the enemy, didn’t give a crap about any other planet being hurt, didn’t listen to Sam (who actually knew what he was talking about), and threatened to demote him and Iverson even when they were right. She didn’t deserve the kindness that she got from the paladins. I think that this show should show kids that not everyone deserves kindness. When someone betrays you multiple times, drop them.

The timing is also super weird in this show, and I honestly have no idea how much time has passed between the paladins leaving earth to them coming back. And the timing in the last few episodes of the new season was also weird, since one fight took like four episodes to do.

Okay, now for the big fish to fry. THE LGBT REP. This was absolute bs. They made such a big deal about Adam and Shiro being together and being gay, and the only thing we saw of them was them fighting, Adam dying, then Shiro (very very briefly) mourning him. And that’s it! They didn’t even say the word ‘boyfriend’ or ‘fiancé’ or anything like that. If they didn’t talk about it outside of the show, I would assume that they’re just buddies. They pushed Allura and Lance together (despite her not liking him at all for the first six and a half seasons), they pushed Keith and Axca together (despite them hardly even knowing each other), and they completely ignored the one ship they did mention; Shadam/Adashi. They also made two villains very sapphic for each other, and honestly Ezor and Zethrid were more clearly together (even though it’s not canon) than Shiro and Adam. They have queer-baited us for the whole length of the show and when they finally promise proper LGBT rep, it turns out just to be more of nothing.

All in all, this was undoubtedly the worst season of all. It did have good moments (like the family reuniting, or Hunk and Keith bonding, etc), but it was mostly a huge mess. And as much as I love Voltron, I am really hesitant to keep watching after this, and I’ve seen a lot of other people who are in the same ship as me (though don’t worry, Voltron won’t make it canon). A lot of people were really disappointed with this season and even if they really improve in the next/ last (?) season, they’ve surely already lost a lot of viewers.

(I may add more to this if I remember more things I didn’t like. I tried to keep it short, but this season was really bad, so it’s hard not to write a book about where it went wrong)
