It’s Fathers Day weekend, and there is no difference in the air. During Mothers Day weekend it’s obvious that it’s a day to be celebrated a day to honor mothers everywhere. Yet if we’re honest that energy isn’t transferred to Fathers Day. It almost seems like it’s just another day. Fathers Day is usually saved for only those men who have children, those women who play both father and mother within their home, sometimes not acknowledging the men who provide fatherly council for children without knowing the blessing of being a father. It’s time to honor the fathers properly; to acknowledge those that step up to be the greatest male role model for the children of their community and the children within their family. This coming Fall my Serenity will be starting her high school year. Though she is apprehensive about the thought of returning to a public school she is excited about what the year has the opportunity to bring. Watching her auntie graduate 👩🏾‍🎓 gave her perspective on how she wanted to map out her high school years and the rest of her life. It’s important to allow your children a voice in their life, their passion and their purpose. I want her life to be filled with the passion that drives her to push through hard days allowing her to fight for what’s important to her not to me. I will be proud of her accomplishments regardless; my job is to guide her steps not control her steps.
