This is such English-teacher-energy of me to say — What if the different stitches are a metaphor for accepting grief… Some are neat and cute, happy memories that make your heart flutter. But others are messy and ugly, sad memories that break your heart. But even so, cute or ugly; happy or sad, they are proof of someone who exists. Even if Alex is not here anymore, atleast a part of him lives on through her — oh god, imagine Dolly picking up his gimmicks and Faklex is the only one who notices because he’s studied Alex for so long that he knows what he’s like.

Suddenly Dolly holding onto those ugly stitches isn’t out of grief and obssesion, it’s out of gratefulness and celebration.

Do you have any Dollex headcanons, I need indulgence…

I don't think I have many specific ones but I'll try and pinpoint some for you so you can get your dose

- alex loves to watch animal documentarys with dolly and info dump to her and she is happy to listen to him and tell any information on various things she knows too

- even though dolly could just teleport into his house at any time (cause of her just being able to do that) she will still ask/go right outside the door because the one time she did come un announced it scared alex so bad he almost passed out

- dolly and alex met just before faklex started to follow and psychological torture him

° in addition to this, this happens through a year to maybe a year and a half time frame

- they do pretty mundane things together like going to the library together or just running errands

- they both wanted to confess to each other about their feelings but both were (somehow) afraid the other would just say no

- adding onto the last one they basically already were/acted acted like a couple (neither of them knew)

- alex would call dolly often just to chat, but in the days closer to his death it was always to ask her to come over and keep him company

- alex never fully told dolly what was going on with him, he was scared it would start happening to her, or that he was just crazy and she wouldn't belive him

- alex loves pressure on his chest and body but because he can't breathe when other people lay on him (like literaly anyone at all) they have to figure out ways to lay with each other so alex doesn't suffocate (he would still risk suffocating if he really wanted to though)

Do you think Dolly ever comes into work smelling like cigar smoke, and people ask her why she smells that way. Do you think she tells the truth or avoids it or blames it on the car engine to avoid embarassing her friend? Do you think she tried to remove it, but after losing Alex she let the smell linger to remind her of him. She can’t actually smell the smoke herself, but whenever people point out the smell she gets a little joy. Because in a way they’re acknowledging Alex, the Real Alex’s existence?
