then a couple seconds after this, wilson agrees to dinner because his wife isn't speaking to him.
"Unlike her, i can make it worth your while"
I'm gonna shoot myself, deadass.

i leave you all with this thought: considering how frequently the notion of euthanasia and easing/ending another's pain repeats throughout the show, it's unlikely wilson died naturally, if you catch my drift

i'm houseposting way too much another reason nobody but hugh laurie could play house is because he gets house's mannerisms with his cane down so well i'd genuinely believe he used one irl.
it's in the way house slides things over to himself, like coffee cups and papers, or his chair to grab his phone in the bath. he hangs it on hospital equipment without a second thought, on random surfaces in his house, and he knows exactly how high to raise it to hang it on his doorframe so he can have his hands free. he pressed elevator buttons with it instead of using his hands. he's so much more expressive when it's in his hand- he's had the thing so long it's like another limb. he gestures more, fiddles with it, blocks things with it. you can even see he's used to doing most things one handed, and holding as many things in one hand as he can.
it's a small thing, but it adds a lot to how hugh laurie plays him yk?

hi i’m not normal (I’m sure you’ve gathered. i reblog a lot from you)
are you cool with your concepts being reworked into fics and would you like tagged if that ever happens. as like credit or something
I'm absoLUTELY cool with that!! my Houseposting is me throwing ideas into the void for anyone to adopt if they wanna do anything with them (and I'd love to be tagged so I can read it once it's in the world pls)

i can't stop thinking about how house md sort of kind of did the breaking bad 'fly' episode before breaking bad did. repressed middle-aged dude who has his worries externalized in the form of an annoying insect that he must kill
house spends all of 5x7 'the itch' scratching at his mosquito bite to the point where he needs a bandaid for it. he's tried everything, even cutting it open to 'let the poison out'. it won't let him go to sleep, and when he does manage, he dreams that in his quest to get the bug he accidentally leaves open some propane gas, leading to his apartment blowing up (aka if he actually addresses the fact that he kissed cuddy by, god forbid, asking her out, he'll inevitably screw up somehow and their relationship will implode).
the effect of the metaphor is somewhat dampened by wilson spelling it out for him ('there is no mosquito!') but the real kicker is 'you're imagining it,' and 'you're a drug addict, you're always imagining things'
...which brings me to this scene, near the end of the episode: when house (awake now) nearly kills the mosquito, he notices that it's sitting on the same place on his left hand as the place on his right that he's been scratching all day. this spurs him on to go to cuddy's place to ask her out (which he ends up not doing) but my point is... if it spurs him on because it's the same place on his hand, the same itch, then that confirms he's been imagining it, like wilson said - and that's what the episode seems to imply too, that that's why house decided to stop trying to kill the mosquito and go to cuddy instead.
and if he was imagining it, then this was the first of his hallucinations, foreshadowing the bigger, badder ones towards the end of this season

genuinely deliberating launching into an examination of house's swiping-wilson's-food behaviour from a transactional analysis perspective and wondering if it would be a tad overkill. just a tiny bit
edit: i did it

okay was anybody going to tell me that house’s 17 y/o stalker in 3x4 “lines in the sand” was not in fact crying milky tears and obsessively flirting with house because she inhaled fungal spores, which was just a lie he made up so that he’d get her off his back without hurting her feelings or was i just supposed to read it on wikipedia myself
